Excuse me, what do you mean about CHS support? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

I have download some CHS support ROMs, all of them have some add ons to support Chinese input, such as fronts and input, but none of them has a China in region choose, these can make some of the Chinese program not work well because there has many garbled.
I like the roms you make, but if there don't has a China region, it may cause many troubles, I am really sorry for that.
If here has any way to add China into the region choice, please help me !

You need to patch the regional settings file to include China (wince.nls), you can do this by pulling one off an actual Chinese ROM or you can install something like CEStar which will patch it for you.

What is HTC_CIME? Is it a specific ROM version? And, could you tell me how can I find out what version of ROM is on my phone?
Thanks.

HTC_CIME is HTC chinese input method editor (or something like that ) it exist as HTC_CIME.apk
So try to search but HTC_CIME.apk around the forum, not sure all roms will work with this if not i bet there is an default android CIME. But read several places that this is working on some of the no-sense roms released here on xda.
Since i'm not Chinese or even know the language i never had any use for it so don't know much about it either. Don't flame me if i'm wrong, just trying to help giving you some words there might help you in your search for a solution

Thank you anyway. But you still not tell that how do I know what is the version of ROM currently running on my phone? For example, you know yours is "CursorSense32A-1.2.6.1".
Narkewoody: the easiest way to use Chinese applications or see Chinese characters is for you to install an add-on program, such as CE-Star or Monster Chinese. The downside of doing it is that certain system-related prompts will be shown in Chinese, as opposed to English. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. You may also want to go to the CE-Star and Monster Chinese websites and take a look. Good luck.

You can look into flashing to the Korean firmware, I don't know the risks, so do so at your own risk. I think I read in one of these forums that it is compatible with the I9000 and that people will be looking to flash to it when FroYo comes out for it head of the I9000....again, look into it, but I won't know what to tell you about Japanese & how safe it is in the end.
I have the Korean firmware & handset and there is no native support for Japanese.
From the FAQ:
23.Can I get Asian language support in the European firmwares?
There is (as of now) no way to reintegrate Asian language support in the European firmwares. The possibility may exist in the future, however, there are currently no devs working on it. There is of course always the possibility to flash back to an Asian firmware. Note that this means that you cannot set the interface to Asian languages (except Korean). You can still receive and send text messages in chinese/japanes etc (you will only need a new keyboard that supports inputting characters)

[Q] I5800XXJPF Languages

Hey can anwayone tell me whether the I5800XXJPF firmware version supports Chinese?
I bought my phone in China and am currently learning Chinese so I need it to support this, but I desperately what to update to a 2.2 FROYO firmware so that I can move apps to the SD card.
Can anyone help?
Thomas.
You tell me, I have no idea what language this is:
That's all I could find. There's no other language that could be chinese in locale setting.

Well on the second picture, two languages on top are not something even remotely exotic but two European languages Greek and Serbian. Third one does not look like chinese either.
Yeah, I was referring to the last language in the list. That was the only language that popped out as possible asian language, everything else I can recognize as something else
I don't know what you can do, download some Chinese locale setting from market (if they exist?)

[Q] Is there any guide for changing the language of the ROM??

Hope flash english to chinese.Anyone can offer a guide about how to do this?
Thanks in advance!

It's quite easy, but it depends on the ROM you are using. Some ROMs support specific languages (locales). To change the locale go to phone's "Settings" app. Tap on "Locale and text" entry and then tap on "Select locale" entry. Select your desired locale and reboot the device.
Sadly I have not seen Chinese locale in SG3 ROMs (probably because I was never looking for it). There is Korean locale in most of SG3 ROMs. Try flashing a couple of stock ROMs to see if they have Chinese locale or wait if someone replies which ROM is he using to get Chinese locale...

Thank you all the same……
Maybe my description is not clear enough ,I mean how to make the ROM support chinese by modifing some files of the ROM.
My english is not good enough, hope you can understand……

Oh, that's another matter...This would include translation of the corresponding files in the framework, and the OS itself. All .apk(s) need to be translated, which considers decompiling and the recompiling the whole .apk, hunting down the GUI .xml(s), adding the translation and so on...Isn't there Chinese Android translation/localization?
...and I forgot one very important thing, the Chinese fonts and grammar! This can cause many compatibility issues. As I understand, Chinese characters cannot be translated respectively from Alphabetical characters. This would involve coding/writing a new/separate module for decoding and encoding Chinese characters. If Chinese is similar to Korean, this is the place to start. Word prediction and autocerrect software would have to be written also - for the keyboard, new keyboard layout etc...A lot of work (assuming there is no Chinese localization for Android).

Thx a lot.
There are people who do the translation work on the Internet. But they are not able to turn every ROM to chinese version, especially when i find a ROM which i like from xda. I think i should try to find out how they do the work and learn it……

Languages are missing in S5

Hi,
For some resaon Languages are missing in S5 in the some SM-G900F/H in europ (system languages)
and SM-G900A /G900T /G900W8/ G900M /G900T1 etc.. the USA Deviecs...
Especially from the USA I understand that Samsung removed the Non-US languages.
Like Arabic and hebrew etc... there is anyway to Enable them without rooting and morelocal2 ?
Many of my Friends try with root and morelocal2 and it dosn't work at all (USA Deviecs).
Maybe A script that Give permission to CHANGE_CONFIGURATION for morelocal2 without root? (4.2+ need that)
Or there is a way to extract from the orignal Roms in different countries or my country?
with & without rooting:
How to Enable Languages in the S5 Keyboard & T9 dialer ?
thank you!

It's not practical to support all languages on a single firmware version. The most obvious answer would be searching to see if any carriers using your S5 model support the languages you want. Then install that firmware. If you live in an Arabic country or Israel that shouldn't be at all hard. If you live in an English speaking country, then your request is esoteric, but have a look and it may well be that they are included in the firmware from one carrier or another.
Second, see if there are any apps to add localized languages. Google used to maintain an Android language pack but it appears depreciated after 4.2. An app like Set language would at least direct apps to use the language you want, even if the UI was still English. So that would be a partial solution as well.
And have you done a good search of XDA? There may already be threads doing what you wish, but as you can appreciate this is not of interest to most people and no one has read every thread on XDA.
.
Thank you!
But,I think it must be a way to extract Languages from the orignal Roms in different countries,
Even NeatROM that has all the Languages and put it in USA Deviecs. (with or without root)
Even get the Keybord from his rom..
I just don't know how to do that

Sure there is. But that doesn't mean that it is easy to do or even that there is much interest in doing so. It is one of the reasons that I suggested you do a search of the Play Store and XDA - to find out if anyone has already repackaged or otherwise extended language support.
If you haven't done an exhaustive search, then you don't know yet if what you want is already available.
.
I try to find Languages Pack in S5 & Note 3 in XDA even in old Samsung fourm and no luck there,
Languages.XML don't work anymore becasue samsung remove the Languages. (as far as I know)
So no luck!
Update:
I found this: but what it does - (/dev/block/mmcblk0p12) ?

I have no idea what your question is.. since you didn't pose it.
The block address (path) points to the S5 EFS partition.
.
Using an unlocked SM-G900A (the ATT variant) in Brazil and everything works fine (even the 4G LTE).
The phone is rooted (towelroot) and tried a number of language enabler apps (Language Enabler, More Locale 2, etc.)
I want to change the phone to use Portuguese-Brazil.
I have search the forum extensively, but can't find anything how to install additional languages on this model. I found this thread, but it seems to have died out a month ago and other user reports errors trying to install a SM-G900M firmware on this S5 model.
