Hi,
I'm trying to get IExplorer to not automatically go to the main site of a webpage, not the wap page. The site in question is bwin.com and whatever I do it goes to the wap site (I use this to watch the Bundesliga live) [standard ROM 1.66]
I've managed this with opera, but I cannot get the flash to work (another topic for another day).
I've tried changing the user agents in both HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent (Platform to Windows NT 5.0, Version MSIE6.0, Default Mozilla 4.0)
and
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main (UA-Paltform to Windows NT 5.0)
and HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Current Version\Internet Settings (user agent as above)
I also downloaded a cab (Let PIE appear as IE6.cab), that said it would do the job, it seemed to add a reg folder User agent in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Internet Settings, so not in the same place as the values I changed above.
So far all i've managed to do is to make IExplore crash on visiting flash sites such as itv.com, another site that is tricky with user agents. But I didn't chekc those beforehand, so that might be unrelated.
Any ideas?
cheers
m.

Thanks to idsk for the great patches
====================================================================
A member (idsk) from the forums have created a patched HTCHome.dll that works with proxy connections. He has created 2 versions of the patched full versions of the HTC Home installer. His cab's can be found in his main post. I have created 2 cabs that would patch your already cooked or installed HTC Home. My cab install files will not change your customized Home or settings. Proxy setting is set to auto. If you want to force your proxy setting like I have, change your registry settings.
Note: When you force your proxy settings, updating through Wi-Fi or while sync'ed will not work.
Registry settings:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings]
"ProxyType"
0 = auto proxy config (system config*)
1 = direct to net (without proxy, default)
3 = via named proxy
"Proxy"
named proxy, IPORT (only used if "ProxyType"=3)
"User-Agent"
user-agent of the request
(the default user-agent is sent if leaved blank)
"Url"
url of the weather server (must begin with "http:" and without parameters. the parameters will be appent to it after a '?')
(the default url is used if leaved blank)
*I noticed that the autoproxy option forces the program to take pie proxy config, so pie should be at least launched once.
Forced proxy connection for T-Mobile USA using (T-Mobile Web or T-Zones)
Set the following:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings]
ProxyType: 3
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
Be sure to backup your HTCHome.dll! If you already know which version you have then install the proper version you have. If not try the other patched cab. If either cab does not work, restore your HTCHome.dll
I take no credit for creating this proxy patch to work. All credits should goto idsk for his hard work.

works fine
just tried the v1.5 on my kaiser and works sweetly
thanks!
UPDATE:
I'm not sure what I did wrong, but it stopped working.... it also doesn't event let me change the city...
RE-UPDATE:
Now I know what I did wrong: I had changed the database to "custom" using HTC Home Customizer... my bad
hypest
I've been using this patch since it was released, and it's been working flawlessly. Thanks goes to idsk for the original version and phouki for enabling this feature on all HTChome versions.
The next challenge is to enable other programs to work with the WAP proxies out there, such as Live messenger, FRING, and all other programs.
After a talk with idsk himself, he said that theoretically it can be done.
For htchome, he edited the htchome.dll in a hex editor, and searched the string "wininet.dll" and replaced it with "idskpxy.dll". Then he resigned the dll, and put idskpxy.dll in the same folder.
He actually started to work on Fring, and found it needs 12 functions to be re-routed to his hacked dll, but he hasn't been visiting the forum lately.
Personally I have no experience in hex-editing, I tried checking some exe and dll files and hex editing it, but with no success.
The question is : is there any developer or programmer out there who can check some popular programs and try to re-route the files to idsk's hacked dll file?
Thanks
Great great great
Thanks a lot
Working fine on HTC Kaiser Dutty's WM6
Any help devs and programmers???

I did open IE and minimize it but still isnt downloading. However, Accuweather does connect to The proxy internet when attempting to download. Please help and thank you.

Do you have proxy settings in your internet connections? You can try the forced proxy reg settings which is on the bottom of post #1.
HTC Weather
thanks! v2.1 worked a treat on my XDA Orbit 2
It's not letting me install either .cabs - says install was unsucessful...did I do something wrong? Im using the OEM ROM.
Thanks!
thanks, this is really great! 1.5 worked on my wizard 6.1.
Odd. Got them to install..and they BOTH jacked up my plug in...had to uninstall and reinstall HTC Home. Also...I tried forcing the proxy. Setting it to "0" still no go? What am I doing wrong?

If the patch does not work for you then try the full installer cab here:

unfortunately it also broke people and launcher tab in a way that you can't add things to the unused spots.
i'd still take weather sync over the above any day but if anybody knows how to fix those please let me know.
"User-Agent"
user-agent of the request
(the default user-agent is sent if leaved blank)
"Url"
url of the weather server (must begin with "http:" and without parameters. the parameters will be appent to it after a '?')

in response to the above lines, do you leave the
"User-Agent"
blank or do you need to enter something for it in the registry? leaving it blank hasnt worked with or without the forced proxy for my wing through tmobiles $5.99 plan
"Url"
same for this, do I need to enter Accuweather.com or leave it blank?
any help would be appreciated as I have tried and tried every setting but with no success yet.
randomly picked HTC Home Proxy Patch v2.1.cab with my ASERG.12.WM6.1E.WWE t-mo wing works perfectly!!!
Awesome fix, works great on my wing (open touch 3). Next I'll try it on my Cingular 3125 (Erofich's 6.1 standard).
It's working man.
It's working man.
I'd installed 'HTC Home Proxy Patch v2.1.cab' & after soft reset I changed the proxy values with that of my operator in -
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHome\Weather\Settings]
ProxyType: 3
Proxy: x.x.x.x:8080

X1i Mozilla/4.0
Hello,
My WWE 1.39.405.2 ROM contains Opera 9.5 Build 16277. The browser works fine, yet it has issues with Flash (as discussed in other threads in this forum). I have discovered that my device actually DOES support Flash, since when I use IE it displays Flash pages correctly. The current version of Opera simply can't go along with it...
By doing some research, I read that the new Opera 9.7 does support Flash. I installed the new version, and found that out indeed it does support it. However, the problem is not only that the previous version of Opera is still in the device (since it is stored in the ROM), but also that it is the default browser. In other words, when e.g. I use the internet tab in Manila, the version 9.5 fires up.
Is there a way to have the 9.7 version installed and make it the default browser? I know that I can't get rid of the old 9.5 version (unless I change my ROM, of course), but I could compromise by having it dormant in my device, and having version 9.7 being the active browser in all instances.
*Bump*
Is there any way to make this happen? Be it to make the new opera the default browser or any other, so I don't have to go to the programs and open it from there.

I would also like to know if this is possible!
Anybody have an answer?
It has been solved! Flash CAN be made to work with the current version of Opera! Check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542165
tf3d launches opera9.exe as default browser. I tried to change it through the registry but without avail. You have to place new opera9-ml.exe to windows directory, rename it to opera9.exe and overwrite original file. Attributes for that file are " read only " , " system " and " in ROM " and in my topaz it is not possible because of that. Perhaps somebody will discover solution

Yep, that worked for me (9.5 1938)
I would still like to know if it's possible to make 9.7beta my default browser though.
partial solution
I've changed a little original opera9.7b1 cab and it works as default browser in tf3d now.
But can't solve two things:
1- opera starts after soft reset or turning on with error message but then works properly
2- zoom bar works as scroll bar in new opera
if someone want to try it
install cab from link below
edit : don't change registry value my zoom bar doesn't work now in stock opera
make soft reset
after uninstallation you will have old opera, here is new opera
Hello All,
I've tried searching numerous places and have not been able to find a definitive answer as to if the newest version of Opera10 can be set at the TF3D tab default browser. I found a thread that suggested copying the opera10 files to the WINDOWS folder and renaming an oper file in the manilla folder, but that didn't work for me... or I didn't follow the instructions correctly.
I guess I should start by asking, can it be done? And if so, is there anyone out there that could possibley explain how to do it, or better yet .cab it up, so that a person such as myself doesn't mess anything up.
Thank you in advance for any responses or help with this. This forum/community is absolutely great!
Thanks,
DeMo
yes some version out that have been adapted to make it default or there is a reg hack to make it so ill try to find it
right i think this is it but to be honset not 100% so if some one can confirm
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\: DEFBROWSER
"0"=Opera Browser
"1"="\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\Opera10-armv4i.exe"
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\Shell\Open\Command\Default
"\Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\Opera10-armv4i.exe" %1
edit this was to change it from IE in a rom i was using not sure if its the same if it has opera9 as the default already

If you don´t find your answer post there as all Opera experts visit that thread.
And don´t forget to vote for Rhodium!
Thanks guys! I appreciate the responses. I'll go check the Opera thread mentioned above and try posting there.
I am trying to get Opera 10 to launch from the TF3D Internet tab when you push "Launch Browser", instead of it launching Opera 9.x.
I've found information about editing an xml file, but that seems to be a solution for the T-Mobile TP2. I have a Sprint TP2 w/stock rom (I failed to mention that earlier).
Anyhow, thanks again. I will continue my search.

I just downloaded Opera 10 Beta from Opera's website last night and installed it on my Tilt2, stock AT&T ROM. During the installation, it asked me if I wanted to make it the default browser. I clicked yes. Now it is used when I click the TF3D browser button.

Yes, but if you cook it in, it doesn't set as default browser, unless you install the reg tweak...

Okay. I'm still a noob at most of this, cooking ROMs is way over my head.
I found that if you go into the settings in whichever browser you are in (I've done it with Skyfire as well) you can select it to be your default browser and it will open with the TF3D link. Hope this helps!
Opera_Mobile_10_WM_beta_3_2.cab Does not have a setting/option to set is as tha default.. i aswell im dying to get this working as i hate opera 9.7
and not that i want skyfire but i just tryed setting it as default browser and still opera 9.7 open when i click tha globe or the browser softkey on tha internet tab...
Me & tha wife would really like an easy solution for this aswell
Thanks
Well opera 10 gave me tha option to set it as tha default browser wen newly installed but it did not open via internet tab..
What i did was delete all tha opera crap from my windows folder, then took contents of tha out of tha "Opera Mobile 10" folder i had installed on internal storage/memory card Renamed tha .exe file to OperaL.exe and pasted it in my windows folder, it works fine.. but uses like 10MB more memory then the default opera...
Now if i could get a copy of the internet explorer exe that i could rename and paste, in place of opera 10 that may be better as opera10 takes alot of space (on tha diamond i can't aford it) and i cannt copy tha IE exe - my device says i cannot edit ROM files ?
hi there, i have to work with a daily new created html code on my sd card. when i try to open a index.html file with opera oder internet explorer they added a "http" string and tried to look for the files in the "outside internet".
(error message opera h t t p ://0.0.0.0/my%20Documents not reachable... blabla)
any ideas to process/start the local html code via bookmarks?
btw: if i doubleclick the index.html over an editor it works, but i prefer the versions via the bookmarklists ;-)
thanks a lot
btw: i have to add the spaces via the spam function for newbies
rom version 1.43.111.2 (70315) GER from 10/28/09
What bookmark are you trying to open?
My start page is the original HTC. However, being on O2 I'v had to drop the files in a folder on the phones memory (storage card would also work)
So When I open Opera the address in the address bar reads...
file://localhost/Application%20Data/Opera/htc-opera.htm
Does your bookmark have a similar make up?
thanks for your reply
yes it looks similar...
when i updated a bookmark which should be "file://localhost..."
the sw added a "http:" before the string...
so in the bml is now
"http:file://localhost/..."
and that of course is at exxecution returned with an error ;-)
any ideas?
thanks in advance
additional question:
these is the bookmark list for internet-explorer and opera - is it possible to make these changes not over the sw but with an regular fileexplorer, the hard way?
thanks
