HTC touch HD disconect after 30 seconds - Touch HD General

Is this problem happens to anybody else. I have touch HD with installed KWBR ROM, and even with other ROM miri my phone while talking disconnect, I do have good signal, around 3 lines but almost always disconnect after 30-40 seconds. Does any body know why this happen.
Thanks

Have you tried flashing to a different Radio version with matching Rilphone version? by doing this, it could improve the quality of reception significantly and hopefully resolve your issue.
For more information on how to flash to another Radio version, please see this link.

I changed radio, then I changed ROM to original Asia 6.1 and still same thing. Whatever I do, it is the same. Start thinking the phone is bad

If your phone still under warranty? You could return it to HTC for repair, but if you choose to do this, make sure that you flash the SPL, Radio, and ROM to stock.
For information on how to flash back to stock, please see steps you need to follow at the bottom of the page via this link.
You can just download the latest ROM from HTC website and flash it. it will give you the stock ROM on the existing SPL.
I hope everything works out for you.

IgorYU, how old is your SIM card? One option may be to pop another sim in and see what happens. At least you will know within 30-40 seconds whether that's the issue.

It is old but not that old, few years max. I will change sim card to see what will happen.
Regarding warranty, unfortunately I buy it used one and it came from Netherlander, so I can't send it there.

I changed SIM card and nothing has change, same prob

Touch HD is ruined, please help NOW! IMPORTANT!

My phone works perfectly except I can't answer calls, when I press answer/ignore it freezes until it goes to voicemail and then comes back. I've flashed multiple roms and had the problem with all of them. I'm not using any special themes or anything, and the only software I ever install are HD Tweak and Finger Keyboard 2.1 and my radio 1.14.25.24. Here's a list of what I've done since I had the phone:
1. Bought phone. Flashed HSPL. Flashed Laurentius L26, no problems. Was being lazy so I didn't hard reset after flashing.
2. Flashed Dutty R14. Didn't hard reset after flashing. No problems for awhile and then the problem of not being able to answer calls appeared.
3. Flashed EnergyRom wm6.5 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls.
4. Flashed Dutty 3.9XT wm6.1 rom. Hard reset twice after. Still having problem where I can't answer calls.
If anyone can help me figure out why my phone is doing this I'd really appreciate it, I'll even pay you some money on PayPal if you like because I really want to fix it. Here are some ideas I had as to why it's not working:
- Problem with rom flash. No, because I tried it with 3 different roms so far and had the same problem.
- Touch HD isn't fast enough to run wm6.5 and be stable. No, because I tried it with a wm6.1 rom too and had the same problem.
- Someone suggested it might be a problem with the battery. No, because I ordered new replacement batteries and tried them and had the same problem.
- Some of the settings in HD Tweak are incompatible with something in the roms I'm using. Maybe, is this possible? I don't really change much, just the softkeys and the highlight color and things like that.
- Screwed up something in the SPL or something because I didn't hard reset after flashing the first 2 roms. Maybe, is this possible?
- Dropped my phone and somehow managed to break nothing but the mechanism involved in answering calls. Maybe, is this possible?
Today I'm going to reflash HSPL, flash the stock HTC rom, hard reset twice, and see if I still have the problem. I don't know what else to do or what other possibilities there are. If anyone can shed some light on this issue, that would be great, because I really don't want to have to buy a new phone. Thanks

Hi rpimps,
I think that would be a good idea, flash back to stock, check for any differences, if everything works ok, then try flashing to a custom ROM again.
It might be an idea to try out a different radio version, for example, try 1.17 as this could improve certain built in feaures of your phone, especially since radio versions are known to work only in specific regions, it may work out better for you overall
Also, if not already cooked into the custom ROM of your choice, you should also install the RIL version that matches your radio version - 1.17 Radio supports RIL version 1.14 (1.14.25.24), which you can download the RIL via this link, at the bottom of post #1 - read this section as it also explains how to install the RIL.
I recently remember another member mention that their phone would sometimes hang when/after receiving a call, this was solved by installing the associated RIL - a layer in an operating system which provides an interface to the hardware's radio and modem.
Best regards.
Just to see if call mechansm works;
- try to record something (to check mic)
- try front speaker (i dont know how to do this)
- check if vibration works. (vibrate on connect may be on)
I guess your gsm radio works well since you can receive calls. Try to use windows original phone canvas instead of touchflo 3d. Dont know what to check more Its strange.

Here's what I did today:
1. Reflashed HSPL. Hard reset.
2. Couldn't find a working stock rom so I just reflashed Dutty 3.9XT. Hard reset.
3. Installed 1.17 radio and rilphone 1.14 like you recommended.
4. Didn't install anything else. Tested phone right after install and it's still having the problem.

I can call other people and it works fine. And actually about 10% of the time I CAN answer calls, and when it works it works perfectly. But 90% of the time it won't let me answer.
I might just have to put this phone on ebay and go back to my Diamond

that's a shame dude, not sure what else to suggest... it sounds like a hardware related issue as you have repeatedly tried flashing different firmware one on the phone... i suppose it's not under warranty?

It's only a few months old so it might be, but doesn't flashing spl/roms void the warranty?

Unfortunately, it breaks the warranty aggreement. So e-bay is a good idea, I guess.
P.S: I heard from someone that you can go back to stock rom then you can still use your guarantee. But I'm not sure if they can see that you reflashed it or not.

From what I have read, if you flash back to the exact stock ROM which was installed on your phone when you had received it, then this will not affect your warranty - if you decide to return your phone (assuming it is still under warranty) just make sure you downgrade to Stock ROM and Radio version, with no trace of HSPL or USPL also, or else you will have to pay them money if they (HTC) find out
EDIT: Please follow these steps to restore back to your stock ROM version:
1. First, be sure to restore your stock OS, and then the stock radio. The Stock SPL is always to be done last!
2. Download your choice of a stock spl package from the link shown below. (currently 1.13, 1.14, 1.15, 1.54)
3. Also download the original hardspl from the link shown below.
4. Run the hardspl exe but do not click anything in RUU yet. Just let the hardspl EXE extract the files for flashing.
5. The SPL you want to revert to is a .NBH file, put the stock SPL NBH in the extracted hardspl package, overwriting the original NBH file in it!
6. Continue with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to tricolour 1.07.OliNex screen), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
7. To verify, enter bootloader mode, see version number on tricolour screen, should now just say 1.14.0000 or any other version ending in .0000, but not ending in OliNex!
that's it.
Please refer to the following link for more information and the necessary files you will require to re-flash back to Stock (see and read the last section of post #1):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431217
Regards.
p.s. also remember to flash back to the original Radio version of the phone, if required.
There are several stock ROMs linked in the Blackstone Wiki, flash back to one of those and see if your problem is still there. If it is, send it back for a Warranty repair - as long as there is a stock SPL and ROM image on your phone, you Warranty will be intact.
what i dont see is mention of ho u are answeing the calls.
there or at least three ways
1. the on screen prompt. i assuming this is the one that freezes
2. the answe key at the bottom left of the phone
3. the htc headphones im assuming you have
have u tried using all three of these methods to answer calls??

Cruise Without Reception

Hi all,
I have a problem, and hopefully one of you can help!
My girlfriend got given an O2 XDA Orbit 2 by her sister, who didn't get on with it and has now bought an iPhone. Boo. Hiss.
Anyway, it turned out to have completely default WinMo 6.1 on it -- no TouchFlo or anything. Aha, I thought, this one needs sorting out.
So I did this:
1. Installed an Olinex Hard-SPL, that came combined with an unlocker. I thought I might as well.
2. Installed 3LIT3 VIII Full. As I've only really lurked around here before, it won't let me add links, to prevent spam. I can give the threads later, hopefully.
I then found that the phone didn't have any reception, even where it should have had a decent signal strength. Note that I ALWAYS hard-reset after flashing any ROM. So:
3. I (incorrectly) tried to flash it with a 1.64.08.21 radio ROM, which didn't work.
4. Reading a bit more, I tried several 1.59 radio ROMs, and even a 1.58, but none of them worked -- the device would stick on the white "Loading..." screen, and eventually CustomRUU would give a connection error.
By this time, my girlfriend was getting a bit pissed off, as I'd told her how straightforward the process would be, and showed her my old Artemis. So I decided to go back to basics:
5. I found an official HTC ROM (1.25.405.1 WWE) and flashed that. One hard-reset later, and surely it would work? Nope. Bugger.
Now, I still have a phone that won't receive or make calls...which is pretty useless! Device information reports ROM 1.25.405.1 WWE, with radio 1.58.21.23.
Any ideas? Help!
On your phone how many bars does your signal strength say you have ? Is your phone in airplane mode "phone and all other connections turned off".

Flash the original rom from my rom threads under steps (see my signature)
it´s a newer original with radio 1.59.42.15
->make a hard reset on the calibration screen....after that you can flash any other rom with m2d inside and so on........after flash another rom you must also make a hard reset...flash in this way...work

The icon is the antenna with '!', which indicates no signal, rather than the 'x' for "turned off". I tried with and without airplane mode on, just in case!

Thanks -- downloading now. Will definitely buy you a beer if it works!
-- UPDATE --
Unfortunately, it hasn't worked. Still get the same "no signal" stuff. I did manage to get some signal upstairs (the 'H' symbol came on, and the antenna lost its '!'), but it wasn't enough to make a call. With the phone's original ROM, that same room had 2 or 3 bars. I just don't understand it :-(
The '!' comes up on barred or blacklisted phone's.Have you tried swapping the sim i think inactive sims come up with '!' also.

I haven't got another O2 SIM to try it with. However, the current SIM definitely works, as she's been using it to make calls on my Artemis. Like I said, the Cruise was her sister's phone, and worked fine until I flashed it, so there's no way the phone could be barred/blacklisted. Also, we did get a little reception last night, and I was able to make one test call successfully before dropping out.
The phone is behaving as though it's got a problem with its antenna.
The bootloader says:
POLA200 MFG
SPL-2.20.Olinex
CPLD-2
My girlfriend's taken her SIM to work with her (in my old Artemis), so I'll be testing the Cruise with my T-Mobile one today. It's recognised it, anyway, even if it doesn't give me any signal.
I'm thinking my next step should be to restore the phone's original SPL and a dumped O2 UK ROM.

i think it´s a good idea....on the o2 site is the original rom...and flash the rom and after that flash orginal spl
Just realised that I forgot to flash radio 1.59.44.02 after sticking Alex's ROM on there. So I tried to do it now, and it didn't work. The phone sticks on the white 'Loading...' screen, and CustomRUU gives:
ERROR [260] : CONNECTION
The Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone. Please check that your USB cradle/cable is connected properly between the PC and your PDA Phone.
This happens whenever I try to flash a radio ROM. Therefore, I think that there's something 'broken' with the radio on the phone. I will follow the instructions here to try and get it back to factory settings:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1962153&postcount=79
Thanks for the help so far, guys.

Yes, that did work -- the O2 site gave me a ROM with radio 1.59.42.15, which is nice. Once I installed that, I restored original SPL (1.28.0000), and it worked!
The phone was still unlocked, and my T-Mo SIM gives me plenty of reception.
Since then, I've re-installed Hard-SPL (original SPL makes me nervous), and I'm just putting the 3LIT3 ROM back on it. Hopefully it'll work this time. If it doesn't, I know what to do
EDIT: Also, I didn't realise the O2 ROMs were so basic -- just default WinMo 6.1. Surprised there wasn't any HTC customisation.

HD2 stuck at white boot screen/ can't install Roms

Hi guys, I've a problem with my HD2 and maybe one of you has an idea of how to fix this, because I really don't want to send it in for a repair
Anyway, my phone decided to refuse to boot out of nowhere. When it happened I had Artemis v9 or v10 installed on it. The funny thing is that I didn't flash anything when the problem occured.
Whenever I start the phone I only get a white screen. Luckily, I can still access the bootloader, even thought that didn't help me until now.
my guess is that the Radio is somehow corrupted, because when I try to flash a new one I get the error saying "Radio_V2 failed" and "Update Terminated". Not even flashing with task 29 works, because I get a "Error 270" and the phone restarts itself after like 4% of flashing.
I'm really out of ideas, I tried to flash a lot of different roms and radios, even the rom that the HD2 came shipped with.

What radio (if any) have you flashed? Check the ROM's dedicated thread you want to flash and see if the radio is compatible.
Im betting you've flashed the wrong radio
take the rom it was shipped with, name the nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh, copy it to your sd card and go into bootloader.
it will flash your old rom and should overwrite the old radio.
DN41
I installed Radio 2.06.51.07, which was recommended as far as I know.
I tried to install every "official" rom that I could find, but no matter if I apply them via SD card, USB or .exe, the install never finishes.
Tried to install just the OS without a radio and that worked, so I'm almost sure it is somehow radio related.
Now the problem is that I can't even send it to T-Mobile, because I there is no way to get rid of HSPL. BTW, it's the german T-Mobile we are talking about, not the US one. Is there a chance they won't notice the HSPL...?
so flash this one over sd-card: german t-mobile 1.72
what about performing hardreset? does the phone boot?
DN41
Tried flashing the TMO rom, but no luck either
Hard reset is strangly fast (only takes like 7 seconds) and only gives me a white screen after reboot. Apperently the HD2 shows me that HSPL is intsalled in the bootloader, but I can't change the SPL...
Already tried HSPL2, but no matter what option I choose, my bootloader always stays at 1.42 HSPL.
Edit: I would like to post pics of the error I get when flashing from the sd card or the bootloader screen, by the board rules don't want new users to post links.

I have exactly the same problem.
I believe radio hardware of my HD2 has failed.
This is not related to flashing an incompatible radio, as I have flashed 1.66 official ROM about three months ago and had no problems until now.
I got the white screen, when phone was in my pocket.
Not possible to update radio, update fails with "Radio_V2 failed" and "Update Terminated".
Not possible to flash any rom, flashing fails when it comes to radio part.
MTTY didn't help as well.
I see no way but to send it back for repair.
Hope they dont realize HSPL, as it is also not possible to change SPL right now.
Hi everybody, i am facing the same issues with my knew HD2. The fact is that i received it yesterday, while trying to flsah ENERGY ROM ..i flashed also the radio .. now got the white screen with the HTC green logo, and no way to hard reset ... phone doesn't boot, can't do anything !!!!!! volume + and volume - doesn't work !!! any idea any solution ?? I am about to try flashing with the memory card but no idea if it will work, im not sure cause even the HSPL doenst appear ... anu idea ?
I've got the same problem
Mine is a Telstra (Australian) HD2, and I've been using it for about 3 weeks fine. Then a few days ago, I took it out of my pocket, and it's dead. With my one, most of the time I just get a blank screen (no HTC), and most of the time it's slightly yellow.
I'm having the exact same problems, and have done everything suggested on this page, and others. I can't send mine back either.
I'm guessing since no one's replied, there's not really a solution to this.
If it is a failed radio, I'm amazed how easily they fail, and how many people seem to have this problem.
I have the same problem today. Anybody help?

i had the same problem with my Telstra T9193. i couldnt find any solutions so its on its way back to australia under warrenty.
I had a similar problem to this, though it appears I just fixed it. I can only imagine it's just a temporary fix though, as I previously managed to get it working and running Android only to white screen again the next day.
I did a hard reset and now it loaded the white HTC screen and nothing else. I tried installing a stock ROM from the MicroSD card and got the same "Update Terminated Update Fail" error because of the Radio. Retried the update about 3 times, and it eventually installed fine.
same here, i reloaded a stock from sd to relock it, which i highly recommend for anyone having this problem - in case it needs to go for repair and it just happens to boot..it took quite a few tries to have a proper flash and it booted only a few tries afterwards and then went back to only booting the white htc screen. so frustrating. and unfortunately for me it has to go back to australia for warrenty and will likely take ages to get back
I was stuck at multi color boot screen after hard reset. Tried multiple roms.
Solution: Use the 2.13 rom from here. Worked thankfully!

After being looooong on this forum, I finally got my first bricked HTC. I got all the same problems, white screen, no way to get HSPL gone, and no update via SD possible, no ROM update via USB in bootloader and no radio update possible...
Anybody knows how much it costs if I send it to HTC and they find yout it has been HSPL-ed?
Next with the bricked HD2
So definitely I´m in the same situation.. I have unusable SMARTPHONE!!
Even worse, because in my case i have no chance to send it to warranty repair - I was too disparate and curious so I opened my HD2 to look for an backup battery to erase everything that could have resist my countless tries to reflash, hardreset, flash RADIO, flash ROMs...
At the begging was the same (btw the same is still) : I took my phone and it did´t answer for waking it up. So I pressed red button to (soft)reset it. But it booted only to white screen (not the HTC one but "pure" withe w/o logo, w/o software info but with slightly yellow hue)
This was almost whole week ago... During that time I tried almost everything (I don´t have gold card - since I can´t get CID of any SD card I´m not able to have one and have installed HSPL 2.08 I´m ABLE to FLASH any ROM - even successfully reflashed cooked ROM via SD Card.!!) and the answer for me is probably some hardware problem....

I'm sorry, I just sent my to the repair center. Hope they will repair it under warranty. Otherwise it will cost me 100 Euro, just to find out I have to pay for the repairs. Then I can choose to let the device there (then I don't pay 100 euro) or let the device ship back (I pay 100 euro for a brick) or let them do the repairs which they will say how much it will cost on top of that 100 euro ..... stress ....

With the radio bricked there are only two things you can try to do:
1- You can go on using your hd2 without updating the radio. Try to download a rom without radio and install it, or ask a cook to prepare a rom (you can try an official rom if you want to recover the original SPL) without radio for you.
2 - Do what I did and sell the phone as bricked, because there's no way to unbrick radio system. I tried to save my HD2 by recovering the original SPL and sending the phone to the htc customer service. I got the phone back after 2 months and it was still radio bricked

task29 and flash a new radio, then a custom ROM.
Sounds like hardware issue, you probably overheated the mainboard while using as wlan router. You could try a task 29 followed by flashing radio then a ROM & see if you get same issues.
Good luck but my hunch is you'll be nedding a new device.
Out of interest what model HD2 is it & does it have red or yellow hard reset button under battery cover ? Yellow reset is suggested to be revision model & less prone to heat & screen failure issues ...
my device has a red button next to the battery. i will try the task29 tonight. i hope it will work fine. otherwise i have to tke a new one. so i have another question. the device had e vodafone branding and i flashed a custom rom.i bougth it last december. how long do i have garantee and how do i get the device to the mode i got is?
thanks

if it is hardware HTC will cover it as it has warranty for one year.
You would need to download your stock ROM from HTC site, just give your sn of your phone, get the ROM, put it on your SD CARD,then flash (don't flash from RUU, flash thru SD so it restores your SPL and radio to correct versions)
i thin my devide has a hardware problem too, because task29 doesnt work too. do i have to flash a branded rom, like the branded rom from the beginning or ca i flash any rom, which i can get from the htc page?
thanks

As long as you use your serial number to verify that the ROM is for your HD2 then yes you can flash it but I would go with the most recent ROM it will let you download and then flash it via SD card so you have the correct everything.

[q] need help with hd2 experts please read!

Ok, guys I REALLY NEED HELP WITH MY TMOUS HD2.
I currently have HSPL 2.08 but everytime i go into the bootloader and install a WinMo 6.5 Rom it gets stucked at 8% percent for awhile then goes to 100. After i installed it, it gets stuck on T-Mobile, Stick Together screen with the R G B thing on the bottom.
I had NAND on my HD2 but it keeps freezing in every rom anytime I use data connection, recieve calls, or use browser or anything that uses the Data Or T-Mobile Connection. So i decide to reflash everything starting with Radio, and I recently installed Radio 2.15 something like that in A radio thread somewhere on the forums. I chose that one because im assuming it's the newest one. I flashed it, and removed MAGLDR, and etc. I currently tried using Task29 and flashed stock 2.08 radio but had the same problems. I CANNOT FLASH ANY ROMS. I TRIED REFLASHING MAGLDR AND CWM AND I CANT GET INTO RECOVERY I GET A FATAL ERROR1. Should return the HD2 to T-Mobile? They don't sell the HD2 anymore so i assume HTC will have to give me one. I'm currently deciding the only choice i have is to return my HD2 to T-Mobile. I flashed SPL 2.08 so it's back to stock. I cannot install or load any roms without it being stuck in the T-Mobile screen. Any help? Or i just have to replace it with a new one?

your phone is currently out of warranty, do not send it to HTC.
Download the tmobile stock ROM by going to the tmobile website > support and they will aks you for your IMEI and SN, enter it and it will give you a download for the stock ROM.
Download the ROM, then extract the file.
Take the .nbh file and rename it to LEOIMG.NBH
put that on the root of your 8gb or less SD card, pop it in, get into bootloader, and hit the power button when it tells you to.
IF this fails it sounds like a hardware issue.
Put your phone in a plastic bag and stick it in th fridge for 10 minutes, take it out and reflash as above, after flash call HTC on a warranty claim because your phone will be stock and hence back in warranty.
I've tried that, i only have a 16gb sd card and it works, but it gets stuck in the stick together crap. D:
seems to be cropping up every few days lately, this problem, though it's always been around. 'stuck radio', 'spl wont change ' 'flash fails at 8/9/10%' and variants thereof, , android gives fatal hit, nothing sticks when flashed, and teh phone never gets past teh rgd screen (cos the radio is shafted)
so i cant send it to htc? then wtf..?

Well from reading this thread I agree with samsamuel, it sounds like you are having a hardware problem as most of the HD2's that people have that show the symptoms Sam mentioned can not be fixed with software solutions. Bu there is the occasional anomaly that someone manages to bring back to life but even m,ost of them eventually completely get "stuck" and then they are useless.
As for what to do. You can take it or send it somewhere to replace the mainboard for you. Or just buy another HD2. That is it short and sweet.
so whats the update blahblah 13233?
Thanks guys with all the help possible, I went to a T-Mobile store and asked for a replacement, it should be coming in 2 days. I had to pay 5$ Shipping. So when I get my new phone I gotta give my old phone in some container or whatever and mail it to htc or give it to any T-Mobile store Thanks guys with giving me ideas. The people at T-Mobile said it's a hardware problem like the guy stated above. Oh well, I hope it doesn't happen again.
