Tried searching for a while, couldn't find anything. Sorry if this is a 'dead horse' subject.
Is it possible to assign a hard key to auto-rotate? Like the magnifying glass 'search' hardkey?
I only really like it to rotate for texting/email so a hotkey instead of auto-rotate would be ideal.
Thanks in advance for your time.

I am looking for a way for landscape to be the default view.
I have tried many things but once the keyboard is opened and closed, the screen goes back to portrait.
Any help would be appreciated.

nope... not doable I guess... there is some app out there that can sense if it's in one mode and switches to another but that basically means u have 2 switches and even more lag... there is no way to keep it on landscape mode I guess because there is some magnetic reaction that happens when u open the keyboard which can't be turned off...
that is just what I read on forums trying to find answer to same problem... i gave up
Thanks for the info.
Is there a way to map this to a hardware button? I know that there are a few programs out there for mapping additional features to the hardware button.
well ya u can map rotate to a button even with regular buttons mapping setting.
Settings - Personal - Buttons
Pick your button and choose Rotate Screen it's one of the first fiew in the list... (sorry if it's not exactly Rotate Screen im running on memory here)
Is there any way i can look at pictures in the media panel in fullscreen landscape without always sliding out the keyboard? the problem is that i could set a softkey to rotate the screen but i need the softkeys for some apps and they wont work right when i set the softkey for landscape. any ideas?
still no ideas?
Theres no accelerometer or anything like that in the x1, so i assume that the only way to activate landscape is to set it to a hardware button or open the keyboard.
maybe there is something like a registry entry where you can set landscape as default mode when opening a picture? like it does with the videos. i have no idea if this is possible with a reg entry so im asking you guys here ^^
I use SPB Pocket Plus to set the Buttons. There you can also set a "long button press" to get more possible functions than there are buttons. E.g. short press right softkey = normal function, long press right softkey = rotate screen...
The difference between long and short is big enough to prevent accidential long presses, unwanted short ones are in your hands
Hope that helps...

Recently find there are many rotate screen program for HTC model which has a G-sensor bulit in.
Any idea if there is any similar program for X1, that is to rotate the screen by the active application you are runnig.
THx!
you can rotate from inside settings
but x1 don't have a G-sensor so you have
to do it manualy
simply set one of the buttons to 'rotate'
this way all u have to do is press the button, yea, its that easy
start>settings>buttons
I have mapped my left button to "rotate screen" and my right to "alt+tab". I am happy haha.
thanks guys
I am actually using ae button to map my left key to do it. just thinking if there is any software could have intelligent to remember the rotation preference.
Hi all, has anyone tried or even know if there is an app or a setting that would auto rotate the screen orientation on the xv6900? just crious because its a pain to text or write email in portait and yeah i do know i can switch it to landscape but then its a pain to keep clicking the button to get it back to portrait.. any suggestions will be helpful and greatly appreciated.
I have my Vogue setup so when I press the camera button it rotates the screen. The Vogue does not have an accerometer so there is no sensor for auto-rotation.
If you would like to set your Vogue like mine just go from the start menu to settings/personal/buttons and select the camera button(button 2 I believe) to rotate the screen with a short press and activate camera with press and hold.
Ok, maybe it sounds a bit strange, but I'm wondering if there is a way to reverse the direction of the screen rotation?
I always seem to accidentally press the power button when in landscape or my palm presses against the special keys, it's getting annoying. I think it would be easier the other way, and as I use my right thumb more, my left won't contact the screen as much...
I can't be the only one....
Thx!
Cyanogen has a 360 degrees rotation built in the phone options - so anything that can rotate 90, can rotate to the left right and upside-down.
