I know the HTC Legend is running 2.1, but I noticed none of the video on the internet show the Legend using a Live Wallpaper.
Has anyone read up or seen on a video whether or not it has them?
The legend has a bubble LWP that is in a vid, if I find it again I'll post it.
Found what I was looking for:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdO8AGthTDw
Looks like no live wallpapers for the HTC Legend.
Can anyone translate what the demo person is saying?

Hey, i try the Legend by the htc on the CeBIT 2010 in Germany.
It has no Live wallpapers
And I try the Desire, I have one word for this phone ´´Power´´
Don't worry if our good ROM cookers can port Live wallpapers on Hero they will do it for Legend too, and even better because the Legend's GPU is the same as N1
yes..but nobody knows whether they will be able to root the legend yet. I remember devs struggling with the tattoo and Droid ERIS. So may be htc is patching all exploits in their kernels.
I am sure HTC forgot a hidden exploit, ROM cooking is the main advantage of hTC android phones.Anyway do you think Hero official 2.1 ROM will be as difficult to jailbreak? If yes that mean we will have Hero's devs working with us to find an exploit
BTW the Nexus One is OS 2.1 and is already rooted
Download HelixLauncher From the market and you have Live Wallpapers.
On homescreen push the house and choose helixlauncher.
You don't have the Sence interface anymore, but you can switch back anytime if you need it.
Also you can turn off both but don't see why you should do that.
Edit, The live wallpapers don't seem to work, but the discription said it is. Strange, guess we have to wait...
hoping for an update for live wallpaper to be "enabled" for Legend.

i downloaded a few from the market such as the duckhunt one just to see what it'd be like on the phone. But I can't for the life of me get them to apply to my wallpaper. I was wondering if there's something im missing to load them

Yea, I've got it working on mine. You must root the phone to work, since the package here:

requires root, I think.

Well, most of the live wallpapers are running perfectly. I personally leave it on Acquarium Live Wallpaper. I believe Youtube has some videos on that. I have experienced no slowdowns on that so any Youtube video should demonstrate the speediness. The Super Mario Live Wallpaper does have slowdowns, though, even when I turn off "Low Priority" to give more CPUs to Mario Live Wallpaper; the rest of the phone still seems pretty snappy, though, even though the Live Wallpaper has slowdowns.

No, the HTC Desire comes with live wallpapers in their Sense UI while certain mid-level phones like HTC Aria, Droid Eris, don't have live wallpapers in our Sense UI, which is why we have to root our phones to replace our Sense UI with one that includes live wallpapers. I'm not sure why they do this. But phones like ours are typically free while the HTC Desire is obviously not free, so that's probably just one way that the carriers are artificially separating these phones.

Don't let the mhz trick ya, the thing really is a beast.
I just upgraded from the G1 to the desire and although it can get a bit jumpy in parts, the G1 handled Cyanogens 5.0.7 very well... The sense ui was great and I was using the aquarium live wallpaper without problems... If the G1 can handle it I don't suppose there is a phone out there that couldn't...

I installed lwp but now im stuck in clockwork... it says install from sdcard complete but it wont let me out... help.
You should be selecting "+++ Go Back +++" item at the bottom of the menu to return to the main menu, where a "Reboot" item will be available.
My Aria is showing zero signs of any sort of problems/lags/FC/etc since flashing Liberated b005, adding LWP, and using these live wall papers..Im using the one now has the moon orbiting around Earth...and the google maps one is Super Duper Cool.

Yeah I was suffering from a momentary case of cranial flatulance on the resolution. For some reason I saw 320x480 and was thinking QVGA not HVGA. So yeah in theory other than adding the coding for the hard keyboard it "should" be fairly easy. Maybe Ace or Miquel could take a peak and let us rookies know. I can flash like a champ and help out with some minor issues/questions but am mostly code-tarded

This rom would be portable, I never heard of that phone, but I'll look it up for some info... Kb support can be done, has been done 100's times on G1+sense roms.
Well, this probably means that an official Froyo release for the Aria is close too. One thing that kind of concerns me is that I have seen more than one web site state that the Gratia will not run the "new Sense UI". I am still within the 30 day return window on my Aria, I got it because a) I did not want to be like 90% of the people around me with a iPhone 3GS or 4 b) it is small, I absolutely despite the size of the Galaxy S. However, if this is already incapable of running today's OS I will likely return it and grudgingly get an iPhone 4. Unfortunately I am stuck on AT&T on account of my wife and daughter being iPhone drones.
I wouldn't worry too much about it not running the new Sense. a) You haven't used it, so you don't even know if you'll like the changes. b) A ROM is sure to surface. c) I didn't think I'd like a ROM without sense, but now find myself really liking the vanilla Android experience.
So if you like the phone, I wouldn't return it based on what it's officially not getting. The wonderful thing is that there are options.
I did it. Still has some bugs though, but I'm loving it GratiousSlide in the dev section.

Has anyone ever been able to find a Froyo dump of that HTC Gratia ? I'm looking for it, but I can't find anything even here on XDA :-(.
EDIT: I should have searched better. LOL. Just found some traces of a rom based off a Gratia stock rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819715. Thx.
There are plenty...
Here is one that is the latest Asian Gratia froyo leak one I could find: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062149&highlight=football but still running FRF91 2.2.1
Here is one that has FRG83G (2.2.2) but it is AT&T branded and you will have to change a few lines in the .xml files to enabled "unknown apps" install. http://dl3.htc.com/application/sync/htc_sync_3.0.5617_us.exe
I've read some about it and that's way i've taken interest in it and found out that my rooted wildfire stocked 2.1 flipclock doesn't actually flip. But to others they say it flips.
What about your wildfire?
Mine doesn't flip. ):
This is because wildfire don't support animation..

Still the clock doesn't flip though?
I'd say it has to dow ith the ROM itself. When I first got my Wildfire, it was running the Vodafone 1.25.something. When I started mucking with it and flashed to the stock 1.37.405, the clock no longer flipped.
Clock doesn't flip because htc does not allow in sense ui 2,0 but new htc sense ui (Desire HD) support it again...I hope you undersud me..sorry about my bad english.
Just checked FW 1.37
Animations enabled but it just changes the number, no flipping at all.
Been wondering about this as well, nice with some clarification.
would be nice to see, if someone could make it, port it or however that works.
My desire or wildfires 'flip clocks' don't flip either
Are there any work-around to make it flip?
tried messing around with the zip file from thatdudebutch who ported the htc flipclock from desireHD, and flashed it on my wildfire. The clock actually flipped, but since it's a different resolution, therefore it's too big and messed up. Dunno how to convert it into a lower resolution, anyone interested in porting it into our wildfire?
would love to ... but I cant code!

it's runneing gingerbread and it has a flip clock.
My question is: If the htc wildfire s has nearly the same things as the normal wildfire.
Can we (if the wildfire s is released) port gingerbread from the s version to ours.
Or will there be an update with the new sense and gingerbread.
Please could someone that know something about it say something to me, please.
And my second question is: Can someone already put the new sense in a rom.

It is not nearly the same. It is totally different. And, to get the new Sense, the code has to be released by HTC. Till that, there wont be a GB Sense Enabled ROM for the Wildfire.
Also, I am pretty sure with the release of the S, HTC will not conveniently forget the original Wildfire and probably not release any updates for it. Its basically an EOL Product now. Its the way the industry works.
After some monthes on the market every mobile phone is EOL. You are right!

Simply because HTC apps require a framework that AOSP ROMS do not have as it is power consuming and is slow.

As djdevine2 stated above, porting Sense would be very hard or even impossible. Sense is like a bug that crawls really deep inside the Android OS. Eliminating is it hard, I imagine introducing it would be also very, very hard.
And not to mention the possible Legal issues that could appear
maybe there is hope
It has also been rumored that the HTC Wildfire will receive the recently released 2.3 Gingerbread update.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Wildfire
This is just a rumor, but there is still hope.
Doesn't look so. If you look at the citation on that particular line, and, read that thread in another forum, there is nothing there to state that HTC has said anything about 2.3 on Wildfire. It is simply a speculative thread, and, points to CM7 for 2.3 on Wildfire.
"You can have your doubts about when your phone maker will finally get around to delivering an Android 2.3 update (March if you're with HTC, June if Samsung, 2017 if you're unfortunate enough to own a Sony Ericsson), but the smartphone dev community doesn't work that slowly. The guys who build custom ROMs just for the sheer pride of it have already begun work on delivering Gingerbread to owners of HTC's EVO 4G, Droid Eris, and Wildfire."
I've been doing searches in all the Desire Z forums and I couldn't find anything about installing HTC sense and all its goodies on CM7. Is it possible? I just got my Desire Z today so I'm still making attempts at learning the ins and outs of android.
EDIT: doing some extra searching off XDA, it seems that because of HTC's extensive work on the rom itself, it will not work with CM. I guess I'll have to pick and choose... that would lead to me wondering what alternative can I get to get as much flexibility as CM and still have sense....

What parts of sense were you wanting. There lots of apps you can use that can give you a sense look. If you want sense style widgets download launcher pro plus. You can theme the dock bar to look like the sense dock.
Use beautiful widgets to get the sense clock and weather, including the weather animations when you unlock the phone.
Have a look in the general android themes section for a theme that has just been released for the built in CM7 theme chooser and it will make you notifaction bar look like sense.
Hope this helps

The main thing that i wanted was the ability to link contacts to facebook as well a "favorites" that works like HTCs widgets. Im also still looking for a voice command app that does not access the internet so that it will work purely off my contact list. I loved the winmo voice command as to how it structured the responses and im looking for something like that
Launcher pro plus has the ense style widgets,.... and there is an app to run from pc that syncs contacts with facebook. Google "android facebook contact sync", if you dont have any luck finding it, drop me a pm, i'll have a butchers for you tonight or tomorrow when i can.
