Yesterday i install
[3.06 WWE][G9]HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O5 by Cotulla
HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O5
I'm quite impressed, just have some questions.. feel free to help me:
1) about camera support. no camera means no default software for camera or camera are totaly disabled in rom... I don't care for few MB's if i can get camera working.. Where is problem and why is needed to remove camera from this release. Can i use other camera's software (like coolcamera) to use camera feature, or not?
2) midi support. I have big collection of midi files at my storage-card but i can't play with anymore. it's problem in wm player, or cotulla remover midi support too to save some space? can i use any software to play MIDI files even with that problem? if answer is 'yes' write names of these applications.
3) battery icon. can i have (and how) battery icon in 'start/clock/speaker bar'? does wm65 have system battery icon, or i must use other software (what software?).. i speak about battery status icon where i can see current power status of my baterry.. give me solution that work, i tried magicbutton and not work with cotulla custom OS very well...
4) install/uninstall. ok, i learn how to install cotulla custom OS (very easy).. about uninstall.. do i must always downgrade to original firmware and then upgrade to other (future?) cotulla's releases, or i can upgrade firmware directly from that one to new one?
that's all, for now....
and?
i can't believe that anyone of 60 viewers have nothing to say??
p.s.
some bonus questions:
a) when i open contacts or 'call history' and choose contact which i want to call, and tap on "call" phone looks like turn off (or just backlight is turn of)
it's bug or feature? (how to deal with that if this is 'feature')
b) about battery status... give me any good suggestion what application to use, to get some usefull info about system parameters + battery status @ my phone desktop/today screen.. i mean application that use their own interface for that job, not depend of wm system routines (if these routines are disabled in cotulla custom OS)
for battery status:
in today screen : Ariel Battery
for nice lock and battery in lock screen: S2U2
for phone problem:

Thanks Cotulla, this is a great ROM!
To fix this you have to change the "screenOffInCall" value to 0 in registry, it's located at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CotullaCode\MISCDRV\
Then Soft-Rest your Device.

Read in the Software Upgrading Section the Thread for the Rom u are using, both problems were encounterd there.
I have another small problem:
last day i play too much with battery status icon... not doing anything dangerous for system, just install some *.cab founded here for battery icons... but no one works for my magician+cotulla customOS... but, after i uninstall these nonworking (for me) battery status icons (or whatever).. now i have some more items in "remove programs" app
most (if not all) wm65 default themes from 'today" app are now listed in 'uninstall programs' + 'cotulla inovationGS' too.. some apps is listen too but these apps is ok, because i install'em.
i guess that themes+cotulla inovationGS must be somehow hiden to not listed here, because these apps is part of the system (custom OS)... i guess that my previous actions with battery icon install/uninstall rewrite some flags for hide apps from uninstall..
besides that small flaw, all other working ok ...
any ideas? what to do?
1)current generation have not camera support.
new roms will support camera.
2)ROM doesn't include MIDI support.
but you can find separate MIDI plugin and MIDI will work.
3)There should be several keys in registry..
in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell I think.
4)At this moment, you can install new CotullaROM to another.
b) about battery status... give me any good suggestion what application to use, to get some usefull info about system parameters + battery status @ my phone desktop/today screen.. i mean application that use their own interface for that job, not depend of wm system routines (if these routines are disabled in cotulla custom OS)

no such programs exist. all programs get power state from system.
2)ROM doesn't include MIDI support.
but you can find separate MIDI plugin and MIDI will work.
any suggestion?
give me a tip, please
i not want to play MIDI files only in one or two applications (players... etc)
i want system MIDI support (use MIDI files for ringtones/sms notification/alarm... playing MIDI from WMP/TCMP)
ofcourse, if this is posible
first download-
1-total commander(its a registry editor)
2-run it and go to \\plugins
3-then go to the 3rd folder,HKCU....OR SOME THING ELSE...I DONT KNOW...
4-then go to software -> cotulla code ->miscdrv -> screen off incall
->then change value to= "0";;
soft reset...

Hi,
after purchasing Visual Studio 2005 i have finished the first release (and the first program!) of an Egg-Timer. I have removed the need of CF2.0 - it should work now on every PDA without any additional download.
Some comments on it?
Feature Plan:
- Switch off screen during count down to save battery power
- save user settings
- customize layout: change backgroud color and color of buttons
- add more counter to stop time in parallel
- save entire recipes which can direcly be loaded to the counter
Revision History
v1.4
- Second Sound just before the countdown ends (15 seconds)
- Remove the requirement of the .net CF2.0
- implemented a stop watch
v1.3
Major functionality included in the progi:
- PDA prevent from switching off during countdown
- Sound stops by pressing either Stop or Start button
v1.2
- Some Bugfixes
- fixed: Scrollbars removed
- About Menu included
- Start Button is usable from right softkey
v1.1
- wave file is selectable now
- thumbfriendly
- Some Default suggestions
- Speed up the timer by menu to get an enhanced accuracy
- Options Menu included
Let me know if it works on your device.
Looks great! Will test it soon!
This i like. But this is really a prog u need to make thumbfriedly! I mean minutes and secons. and also have a memory so u just can press for instance the usuall 3 minutes.

Thumbfriendly - hmm - thats a good improvement. I will put it on my todo list. I have some good ideas. This issue is very easy to implement. Let me see if i can release a new version in short time. Nevertheless: Do you know that you can just tap on one of the NumericUpDownCounter with a thumb and control it via the DPAD? That is also comfortable....
The other idea with a memory is also a good idea but it is more tricky to implement. I have to read in more detail of programming. Maybe some registry storing or an ini file will be ok. At a first i will implement some hardcoded suggestions. This is easy to implement.
Thank you for the good ideas.

EggTimer gives an error.
EggTimer needs a newer version of .NET Compact Framework than is installed on the device.
I’m getting a “InvalidProgramException”.
I’m using ROM 2.01a.64WWE; WM5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0) so I do have the newest version?
Or isn’t it a standard part of the OS?
If not, where can I get a newer version of .NET Compact Framework?

Like what u have done with it. Glad I can be of some use. Like the idea of regfile. so there is as little extra files as possible.

You need the CF 2.0 and can download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&DisplayLang=de
But if you can wait some time i will release a version without the needs of the CF 2.0 ...
I just tried your eggtimer and its really good! But just rememered that i tried something like this before..
the problem is u want to turn off the device so that i reserves power.. but the timer doesnt work than. Two possible workarounds ( im no programmer so bare with me) either have a buttan that swithes of the display OR maybe its possible to check the realtime clock and activate the alarm after the right amount of time?.. just a sugestion.. if possible
Regards
Good job topcaser come along way since the first release.
I like the fact the backlight stays on so you can keep an eye on the time, when cooking your egg, so an optional light/screen on/off would be a good idea.
When i tried it on my wizard alarm kept going off even when i closed the program hope that can be fixed.
Maybe an idea to startup with the standard 3 minutes (default) and have an option to change.
Thanks again, i shall return
p.s. great you released without the net, boy do i hate that thing fills up your memory!?!?
Find attached 2 egg timer images - perhaps that can be made into an ico file for your exe - a high profile program like yours needs an icon
Will give this ago when I get AS back on my PC...
Thanks
Terran
When I start it, it closed down :?:
I have net installed using it on a rx 3715 with WM2003SE
Not sure if you are still developing it or not. I like it very much. Just hope it get better.
1. Make it save the state when exiting (stopwatch or not, timer preset data).
2. Move the bigger buttons (start/stop/proceed) to the bottom, so that it can be easily touched by thumb.
3. If the stopwatch doesn't start from zero, I still didn't find a way to reset it to zero.
Palm has a freeware: stopwatch, which is very easy to use:
Pic
Palm also has a good freeware for timer: bigwatch, in which touching the min/hour/sec upper part will increase 1, touching the lower part will decrease 1, very concenvient.
bigclock
Good luck!
Is there an built in alarm in WM5 to tell you when the battery is getting low. There does not seem to be any setting in the sounds & notifications area to set it, or will it just happen of its own accord.
I swear someone said it was possible, but probably in an older version. :?
I do not want to have to use any third party software if possible.
Mine pops up with a low warning at 20%, think its set under power options

Is it an alarm sound, or just a visual notification.
Just noticed your ROM Version - 2.16.9.1 WWE, did you get the XDA with this or upgrade it.
I don't know about the AKU2 ROMs, on pre-AKU2 it doesn't appear to be in the Power control panel applet normally.
You can add it to the Sounds & Notifications applet by using this registry tweak:
Low Battery warning
By default, a PPC will sound a warning sound when the battery is running low (10%, fixed value), but there's no way to disable or change the notification. To enable this, so that it is visible in the "Sounds & Notifications" control panel, set:
Code:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D663-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\Default = "Low battery warning" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Note that the string used can be whatever you like it to be
Click to collapse
The warning seems to be hardwired to 10%. An alternative is to use a third party application. I use "Batti" to display my battery status, and version 1.4 added sound events, so I've got one set for 'low' battery at 15% and 'critical' battery at 5%.
the options?
cna anyone explain waht all these options are?
I added the key, and it auto filled in a lot of stuff,
yes it appears now under sound and notifications, but not witht he proper WAV
I also can;t seem to find my CUSTOM wavs in the scrollbar??
I guess
Is a default alarm and the file is located at windows folder
is calles lowbat.wav for the first time, and when critical is called LB.wav just change it if you wanna change the sound but the percentage of notify i cant figured out how to change it...
It just pops up with about a quarter left on the meter
Sorry: how is it possible to change the file "lowbatt"?
I think is a .wav file
get a file .wav call it lowbatt.wav and just overwrite it! thats all i can do it with the total comander program or synced with activesync.
Sorry, but the file in my PDA is named lowbatt.wma, and the syncro program does not allow to overwrite it, it seems to be a file of the system.
sorry i didnt see it
yes lowbatt.wma
if the activesync dont allows you to overwrite so... use the total comander.cab
Sorry: could you suggest me where to find the "commander.cab", what it is and how it works?
Many thanks
have you ever see a little search tab on the upper bar at the xda forums?
Well if not i can tell you if you type there "Total Comander.cab" it tooks you surely to google and just take a choice... but
I can recomend you to visit my Cabs web page, just click on the image at my signature MY HTC SKYDRIVE and download it is in the cabs folder... Is a File explorer that unlocks the proteccion to overwrite system files on your Pocket pc...
If you dont see it post again surely i can send you the exact link. im a little busys at my work now.
Sorry.
Many thanks. I entered your folder. Is it the file ExplorerExt.cab?
NOUP
the explorer extended place more options to the normal explorer...
the "TOTAL COMANDER CAB is here..."
http://cid-f13430056005795d.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/HTC/CABS/tcmdpocketarm.cab
it is called tcmdpocketarm.cab the link sends you to the download page just get it... install it.. and now you can change all the system sounds!
Many thanks.
I will prove it next days.
Regards.
You are welcome men!
There on my skydrive i have many sounds you can download whatever you want from my public Folder!
Any question dont doubt in PM me
Good luck!
Many thanks for the suggestion of commander prog: it works.
I take the occasion to ask you: is there a way to exchange files between the PDA and the PC without installing the WM active sync? The fact in fact is that I do not want to synchronize any files or address book between them, and hence I have always to stop the automatic synchronization action. But if I set the active sync option to not synchronize, it cancels all my addresses.
Do you know other systems, that is I connect the PDA with USB, and the pc looks at the PDA like a disk, without installing WM active sync prog?
Yes!!!
its called WM5torage and it goes on v1.8 its the newer
just install it on the device not on sd card ok? but it only shows your miniSD like a USB pendrive not the phone memory.
If you want it search on my HTCSkydrive at my signature.
Hi all,
Just got my I-mate JAM last week ... and absolutely love it. I know the JAM isn't the latest and greatest anymore, but I wanted a small PPC phone and JAM's the perfect size. The JAMin is too expensive for me, and I also think its improvements (wifi, EDGE, WM5 to name a few) are over-rated.
I had a separate PPC (toshiba e330 ... yeah it's about time it retires) and a smartphone (MPx220) before so it's great I only get to carry 1 device instead of 2.
Anyways, got a few newbie questions I hope you guys can help me with ...
1- Storage memory??
I realize the JAM has limited memory so I've been installing as many programs as possible on the 1G SD memory card.
I still found that ~ 60% of 'storage memory' is used though, so I started moving some more programs to the memory card (and had to relink them one by one).
Afterwards I found the 'storage memory' has actually gone UP even more ... from 60% to 68%??!
What is storage memory? I thought storage memory is the stuff (program / database) stored on the RAM, so by moving some of the programs to the flash card I should see the storage memory go DOWN, not UP?!
When I run something like a 'space detective' I find that all of my big files are on the memory card anyways, so I really don't know how my storage memory got so high, and don't know how to get it back down neither.
2. Repeated resetting
Everytime I do a soft-reset, the PPC has a tendency to do repeated resetting before I finally get it back ... the first time it freaked me out. I thought it's gone into an endless loop and I'd have to do a hard-reset ... good thing I got it back after 4-5 soft-resets. Once I get it back it actually runs stable, and wouldn't reset itself.
Is that normal? Has anybody else experienced this? Usually it'd reset itself again once it gets to loading the phone alarm today plug-in, or when it connects to the phone network.
I currently have the following plugin's installed on the today screen:
-phone alarm
- ADB Weather
- Calendar
And I also run WisBar Advanced 2 ... but I have disabled WA2 to reload itself automatically on soft-resets.
I put phone alarm, ADB weather and WA2 on the main storage instead of memory, because I don't want to increase the chance of crashing.
Does anybody else has this problem? Do I have a software conflict here?
3. Photo contact?
I use photo contact that comes with the phone ... now that software is a piece of crap to begin with, keeps freezing the PPC even for the smallest thing.
And, 5 times out of 10 when someone who's been assigned a photo ID calls, the photo doesn't show up. This is despite I've put the resized photo contacts on the main memory, not the memory card.
Anybody experienced the same problem? And what's a good photo contact ID program to recommend?
4. Good dialer program?
I can also use a good replacement dialer program ... the dialer program that comes with the phone works, but it's pretty slow in suggesting contacts as I dial, and the buttons a tad small as well for 1 hand operation.
I tried D9, but for whatever reason it doesn't install for me ... plus, I also need the DTMF tones to check voicemail and what not.
5. Must have appz?
Any other must have appz you guys would highly recommend? Since getting the phone I've installed:
- phonealarm (great appz for changing profiles and displaying sms / vmail / email / missed calls)
- Wisbar Advanced 2 (great launcher)
- Cyberon BT voice dialer (not sure how it's not included with the phone)
- Resco File Explorer
- Resco Picture Viewer
- Mapopolis
- Intelligolf
- Sprite backup (works well, but extremely slow if launched from the PPC)
- eWallet
Thanks! Any comment / suggestions is appreciated!
Number16, welcome to the board.
I'm afraid I don't have time for a thorough response right now, but some thoughts:
- please read the board rules. Posting a thread with a useful topic title will get you more help, faster. It's in your interest.
- read the wiki and do search the board. The Magician is still my favourite phone, and we've all spent years posting about issues for it. It's likely most of your concerns have already been discussed.
- specifically read the wiki on favourite software. It's far from complete, but it'll point you in the right direction. Someone asks the question every 4.7 minutes, precisely, day and night, so you will find other more detailed responses elsewhere. My recommendations: get gsfinder, claunch and SmallMenuPlus NOW.
- investigate the BigStorage Rom hack. (see Wiki)
Will try to post more later if possible.
V
apart from games I'd recommend the following:
1. Eye on privacy
2. XCPU Scalar
3. SPB plus
4. HiCalc
5. Novii remote
6. imusic
I would recommend;
AE Button plus
Allows you to map up to 3 functions per button, works great on the magician
+ its free
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=20322
"Total commander" is a great free file explorer
"Mortscript" is a useful for custom tweaking
"PHM Traylaunch" put shortcuts in the System Tool Tray
Also search this forum for a sound tweak that vastly improves audio quality when listening to music via headphones
& checkout http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php
Thanks guys, great advices there.
Speaking of AE Button plus, I installed the (free) ver 1.0.1 but somehow it only works for the contact and schedule button. I didn't re-assign the TALK/END buttons because it says if I do I won't be able to use these buttons in the dialer.
And somehow AE Button also doesn't work for the camera and record buttons (on the side) neither ... if I re-assign some other tasks to them, they don't bring up the camera application but won't start the intended application neither. I just hear a few beeps and nothing happen.
Does the paid version of AEB Plus improve that?
Sorry if I've gone off-topic here...

That's the same version as i'm using. Works on my contact & calender buttons & on my camera & record buttons perfectly, I use the camera button for the camera & flight mode toggle, I have mortscripts assigned to the other buttons which changes the buttons functions depending on what program is in the active window.
I find this easier to use stylus free than WM5 (I also own a Universal & a Prophet for the wife)
From your first post it sounds as your devise is a bit buggy, might be worth doing a hard reset or flashing it with a custom ROM.
A well setup Magician is an almost perfect PDA/Mobile phone balance
Have fun.
PS; Try the free trail for the paid version of AE Button & see if you like it.

Flight mode toggle
Download from link below then unzip & copy the program below to your phone or sd card, then create a shortcut to it in your programs folder (if you have a shortcut in your programs folder, it will show up in the menu in Buttons). Then go to "Settings>Buttons" & pick what button you want to link to the flight mode toggle program.
Vibrate mode toggle
You could create a batch file to use with Mortscript (freeware) which would turn your vibrate on & off, then link this batch file to a button.
Its quite easy to do, do a search for Mortscript. If you need help let me know & i'll write the script for you & give you what help I can in setting it up.
Mortscript is a great bit of software which can enable you to solve a few problems so its worth doing some research on it.

i have got mort script but it s too much for my little brain......if was hoping if u could provide the file i will assign it a button ...looking forward to your help...thx for flight mode toggle
I've got the paid version of AE Buttons Plus and it still runs a little funny sometimes ... certain buttons will work from time to time. For example, I left "single click" for Button1 untouched (which should be Calender by default) and "double click" would start Notes. Well, it starts Notes on double-click all right, but from time to times single-click wouldn't do anything. A reset usually fixes the problem, but then it'll happen again after a while.
So instead of leaving "single click" for the button un-assigned, I've assigned it to Run Appz -> Notes. That did the trick so far.
I also find that Wisbar Advanced 2 is causing quite a bit of problem ... anybody else has problem with it? With WA2, PhoneAlarm and AEButtons running at the same time, the Magician gets pretty unstable. It's a lot better if I don't load WA2.
Which is too bad, cos i've been a fan of Wisbar from long ago (well, it was a freeware then) ... anybody has any suggestion for a taskbar launcher? I really don't want something that's too busy looking, and I don't like clauncher ... I use the today screen for caleder plugin's and what not.
Thanks,

If you guys interested have a look at the 10 Best Softwares
Comments?
Here's my 2 cents on this '10best software' list ... befoer I start I gotta say for the most part I don't agree with it, for 1 reason or another.
1. Wisbar Advanced / Desktop.
Ok, I really like Wisbar, dating back to the PPC2002 times. It was a smart little program that worked very well as a launcher and took up close to nothing in terms of memory and storage, and better, it was a freeware. The Wisbar advanced these days though, is a memory hog for what it does. It may not be a problem on somehting like a x51v, but on a device like the Magician it really isn't the best solution for launcher. Plus, I dunno if it's just me, but I ran into all kinds of software problems with Wisbar advanced 2, potentially caused by software conflict with other softwares I have. Maybe someone else have better luck with WA2 though.
2. PocketBreeze
Never really used it, but personally I'm not a fan of busy today screen ... but that's just me.
3. PocketWeather
DOn't know why I'd pay for this software when I can get ADBWeather for free.
4. PocketMusic
I used PocketMusic in the PPC2002 days, and it's not bad ... but these days when you can get GSPlayer for free, it gives PM a run for the $$.
5. RescoFileExplorer
No question about this one. Always the first program I install after a hard-reset, 'nuff said.
6. Memmaid / PocketMechanics
I use Memmaid and it's great. Never used PocketMechanics
7. QuickNotes
Never used it ... so can't really say.
8. SPB Backup
I used Sprite Backup on my old PPC so I continue to use it on the Magician. Other than being rather slow when it scans your device, I have no complaint about Sprite. I never used SPB so I can't compare.
9. Internet Browser
Haven't tried anything other than IE so can't say ...
10. Theft Alarm
Well, I use eWallet to store all the sensitive information ... never used theft alarm so can't say.
I guess that's just the list for PPC ... because for PPC phones, I'd say PhoneAlarm's one of the top 'must-get' softwares for sure.
PROGRAM IS NOT WORKING AT 100%! AT THIS MOMENT ONLY FUCTIONS LISTED BELOW ARE WORKING. OTHER FUNCTIONS UNDER DEVELOPMENT.
Current Version
- [NEW] Birthdays button/indicator works
- [NEW] A little bit more comfortable clock setting

I'm begginer in programming. So dont promise a VGA version. I wrote it with Windows Mobile 6 SDK. I think it will work with 5.0 and 6.0 of coarse.
Actually I doing it for my personal using (QTek S200, WM6).
Will be glad if some one else will can to use it
hi MaxKysh, im a beginner too. Is possible to use grafic libs like XFlib in your project?
Don't know I use only API functions.
Please, try it
Here it is if somebody want to try Please report of your try.
Tested on QTEK S200 - works well.
Tested on Asusu p525 - don't work BlueTooth swith (will try to fix it).

I've got an normal htc elf p3450
And the program doesn't work correct, the background doesn't load therefore the transparant icons doesn't show.
I can enter the settings tab but i don't think any of the settings work.
I know you are a starting programmer (and i can't program anything so i have deep respect for you) but could you concider something like total customization
Greetz
Did you extract it to Program Files? (I meen Program Files\MaxHome\, and not to Storage Card (!)). Don't promise full customize but will work on it

As i have a dutch elf i don't have the program files folder but i made one by hand and copied the whole MaxHome folder to that directory but it still didn't work.
Greetz,
Hmm... That is my big mistake Will try to fix it
hi, just tried it, unzipped to device/Program Files/Max Home
tried running MaxHome01b.exe and comes up with error:
"the file 'MaxHome01b' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file."
I clicked on accept when it said it wasnt signed...
Not working for Wizard
Date and time displayed correctly, the "Comm Manager" displays correctly but the Bluetooth button is the only one functioning, the rest do not have any effect.

Please tell me, which Software to programm do you use??
Can you post the source code, so that we can help you to make a realy realy good home screen?
Thanks
Hello everyone ..
I've been here for a while, and been using alot of apps from the great team of developers here. And been using a lot of great ROMs, thanks to all cooks!
I did something, and it showed me we do need a special program.
I tried to install an app, then uninstall it, and a very funny thing happened,
for example, it asked for 1536 kB to install , but it installed on more than that, and after uninstalling it freed less than what it already took, and even less than what it saied it will take.
I guess it's because of the registry and some un-removed files.
and here comes the idea of the program
AN INSTALLER/UNINSTALLER app
i think it should do the following
1- browse for the cab
2- i think it might need to use the builtin installer, but it should keep track of all the files and registery entries that the program will take
3- keep record of all the installed apps
4- allows the user to uninstall the app, again, it might need to use the builtin unistaller, but after it is removed, it ensures that all the registery values are removed and all the files are deleted
so what do you think? is this possible? any one can do it for us?
If this is a request of an Application, PLease Modify Your Title with some thing like this :
[REQ]Windows Mobile UnInstaller
Short answer: Forget it.
Middle answer : There are slightly improved uninstallers available, e.g. in SKTools
Long answer: The default installation routine keeps a pretty good track of what is installed with the default setup routines, and usually uninstalls it just fine (only exceptions: fonts and sometimes Today plugins. Which belongs to the things SKTools' uninstaller does better.).
The trouble is with those files and registry entries that aren't created by default installation itself. There are two ways for that to happen. Either there's a "setup.dll", which allows user extentions wherever the default routines wouldn't be flexible enough, usually used for setting migrations (updates) or selections immediately after installation (like which language packs should remain resp. extracted from an common archive). Or the application creates them on first run resp. whenever required (like when the user modifies settings, a game is saved, entries are created, ...). For both of them, any unistall helper has a really bad job to relate them to the program. The best it could do would be to remain in background, look for changes (which would take a lot of resources because WM doesn't offer as nice system hooks for e.g. new registry entries as the desktop Windows) and assign them to the currently active program. Which might be wrong whenever a program in background creates/modifies something. And then there's the problem "What to remove?" when it comes to uninstall. You wouldn't be that happy when it deletes all text documents, contacts, registry tweaks, ... you created with a program, would you? And sometimes you even want to keep the settings, e.g. when updating (since WM5, the old version is always removed before the new one is installed).
A developer can create special uninstall actions in the setup.dll, which usually are way better than any uninstall tool could try to be. You often experience that when there's a query like "Keep settings for update?" appears on uninstall. But that's up to the developers...
thank you guys very much for answering ..
as a result .. i get that if i want something better .. go buy a sktools license
and there is nothing better than that ...
right?
try Pocket Mechanic too
MemMaid is the best!
I vote for SKTools. Has the best uninstall function ever.
