'Whitewashed' Background Pictures on the Today screen

I find that when I 'Use this picture as a background' (WM6, Dopod D810) the image appears but it's always 'whitewashed'. By that, I mean it's faded to white - I'd prefer to see the photo in it's full colour with no faded look.
I'm certain that in the early days of WM5 this used to work fine?
Any ideas would be appreciated

use picture & video viewer to find the picture you want to use as your background. tap and hold for the context menu and select "Set as Today Background..." a screen will appear where you can select transparency. set it to 0% and you should be in business!!

Any idea of XnView Pocket does it? I can't seem to find a 'set as wallpaper' option.

Also tried out a trial version of Resco Photo Viewer and although it allows me to Save > Use as Home Screen then set the viewable image area and transparency (which I set to 0), however the new wallpaper never appears despite receiving the message 'Picture was correctly set as Today wallpaper'.
Settings > Today shows the background picture is currently set to 'Custom Wallpaper'
Is there a registry hack I can do to stop the default Today settings from adding transparency to new background images?

I had the same problem.. In my case it was caused by the theme I had installed. Try a different theme or modify the one you use.

i tried using a plain colour theme with spb menu but any custom today backgrounds i choose still come out with transparency. how exactly do you suggest i do this? i'm certain that it used to work fine (no transparency) under WM5....
i'm just eager to make use of the great backgrounds another xda user suggested on the Slide2Unlock topic (I think) at http://www.zuned.be !

In my case I had to get a theme (.tsk) editor and embed the background I wanted into the Theme as opposed to selecting an image from the device to use as a background.

no worries, i might do the same...any recc's on a good theme editor to use?

Can't change background and clock going haywire

Hi guys
Ok, first of all - this is my first post. Woohooo. K now that that's out the way, lets get down to business.
Had a new slider and clock etc and then I saw XenRed (http://www.archy.net/2008/11/15/xen-theme/) ... Decided to install it (using Diamond TF3D Config) and it works. But can't change the wallpaper. Tried using mUn BackGround4AllPages v.02 and then my clock just started ficking through numbers and sticks at 12:59. I Used Diamond TF3D Config to reset to defaults and I just can't get the wallpaper to work (I tried in Settings - Wallpaper and Start - Settings - Today - Use the Picture as the background).
I'm not a developer so I can't exactly go write my own manilla files or whatever. Does anyone have any ideas?
P.S. If possible, I wanna have a different today wallpaper to every other one but wanna customise both. I came across this:

that background for all pages has some nasy effects on some versions of the tf3d especially modded versions, theres not much you can do apart from either unistall everything to do with the tf3d and re install tf3d or hard reset and start again

Iolite M2DC Problems

Hi All,
Firstly, please go easy on me, I'm new to windows mobile.
I am having issues with my O2 Touch Cruise, I have M2D installed and M2DC and have tried a number of backgrounds but all I ever see is the blue background to the home screen. Has anyone got any ideas? Everything else changes and the background to all other tabs changes, just not the home screen.
Any ideas, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. I've looked at hh_fw_background.png in the windows directory and this image is the correct wallpaper.

You should be able to change this under "Settings", "Personal", "Today". There you can select and click a picture as background. Try to use it!
Another solution would be to use M2DC for changing the order of your applications, fonts and styles.

In M2DC go to Background tab clear the path first and then use the three dot button to go to the location where your new background 'png' is located and use it as the new background.(The background photo must be in png format).

Hello,
I have got HTC HD with WM 6.5 CE 5.2.23052, how to change bars (those bars where are battery, clock [on up] and windows icon, lock icon [on bottom]). Any application for it?

Hi there,
first of all, make sure that you install sdkcert.cab, it can be found here in the downloads section at the bottom of post #2. Then simply install the relevant cab file to your device and it should change your taskbar icons.

And whats more I cannot access my menu after installing this app. [Icon with windows logo disappeared]

Ahh i think I now understand what you meant.
If you are wanting to change the appearance of both the Top Taskbar and Bottom Soft Keybar, this is how I did it:
I currently use Max TF3D Theme Maker v4.1 to customise the appearance of my Home Screen and other screens (even where both the Taskbar and Soft Keybar reside to make them Transparent).
You can download and install the cab (install it to your sd card) for it here.
You first need to set a Background wallpaper first as it will not work properly with just the default background, normally you actually need to set a new background first.
Now, to set the Task bar and Soft KeyBar to transparent using Max TTM, open up Max TTM, go to the WM6.5 tab and under the Component Heading, make sure it is set as Both. Then only select the two bottom checkboxes (Enable Standard Deployment and Soft Reset after Convert), then click the Convert button to enforce the changes.

Using HDWall + MaxManila Together

I've been reading the forum for 3 days so sorry if this is covered somewhere, I can't find it.
I'm trying to use a full screen HDWall wallpaper (taskbar + softkeys skinned) with MaxManila.
I have made the wallpaper without any problems and it looks good when installed but when I install MaxManila afterwards, I lose the wallpaper?? The top and bottom bars stay skinned, but the main wallpaper is gone and I can't get it back??
I've tried installing MaxManila first then the wallpaper, I'm using the correct HQwallpaper patch, I'm selecting "D" in Maxmanila wallpaper settings, tried setting it from Menu, Settings etc?
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or can offer any help?
I'm on stock HTC 1.66 ROM with 2.5.1921 Manila

Errrm youre supposed to install max manilla first and also which version of max manilla are you using? 2.7 or 2.7 SE ?
for 2.7 here: Default - this is the manila wallpaper that requires app like HDWall to create. Rather than using the latest file of 512x1024, I have reworked a fullscreen default wallpaper using the old filenames. If you are using HDWall, go to config and select profile "TouchFLO v2.5 BETA - No Compression - All Tabs".

for 2.7 SE:In the home tab just press menu/Home Walpaper/Portrait Wallpaper, To select ur wallpaper for all tabs. Note that sometimes the wallpaper doesnt set as there may be a bug so just keep trying to select the wallpaper till it appears and it it still doesnt appear just select remove wallpaper and continue trying to set ur wallpaper again .You also dont have to uninstall HDwall i think since you do want to have your taskbar and softkeys skin remain.
I have HDWall and max manilla 2.7 SE running on my HD2 without much problems
I also assume you're running just max manilla 2.7 since u could select the D option while 2.7 SE is locked to B

This morning I have MaxManila 2.7 SE installed, so I have installed HDwalls on phone, used HDWall on PC to make my cab. Tried first with Config set as you suggested "TouchFLO v2.5 BETA - No Compression - All Tabs" - installed cab and reset - top + bottom skinned but nothing else. Wallpaper not showing in menu/Home Walpaper/Portrait Wallpaper??
Tried again using config set to "HTC Sense v2.5 & WM 6.5 - All Tabs - No Compression", installed cab, reset. Top + bottom skinned only, wallpaper showing now in menu/Home Walpaper/Portrait Wallpaper but tried to select 10+ times and always just black screen with top and bottom skinned?

yeah thats the bug with 2.7SE ... they said if u keep selecting the wallpaper it would eventually appear .... the creator of max manila is still working on fixing that .... well you should just use 2.7 not 2.7 SE for now ... that way the "TouchFLO v2.5 BETA - No Compression - All Tabs" cab should work
