just wondering if there is some software (preferrably free) that i can use to block a certain number from texting me. basically they wont give up trying!
its a jade running windows 6.5 ... thanks
Jade phone already has the "call barring" facilities. however it must be supported by the service provider.
i'm with tmobile and it'll only allow me to block all the numbers.. or no numbers.
its only the one number i want to block though. thanks
Try this.

HTH.
block unwanted anythings
I use a program called MagiCall it wont let anything through and also you can set it to keep there end open even though you are not on a call with them so it wastes their money and not yours or your time
so for example person rings you , you set it to bounce back but disconnect at your end and the caller thinks they are still taking to you lol
neat app

Hi,
I'm receiving malicious phone calls from my ex-girlfriend. I'm on T-mobile UK and they DON'T have the facility to block calls on the network end.
Ideally I'd like a free program to block calls and texts but I am prepared to pay a reasonable amount. I've done some research my self and have found nothing that I've thought would do the job.
Help PLEASE... I want to throw my anti-anxiety medication away.
Dave.
Try Call Firewall http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307178 -it blocks atleast calls (but not SMS)..
Cheers, just d/l'd and installed. tested by blocking my brother-in-laws number and got him to call me. success!
THANKS!
Any ideas in regards to SMS?
Dave
I have had success with MagiCall. It can also block SMS. It can even be set up to pick up and hang up within milliseconds of receiving a call (instead of just "ignoring" the call .. which sends the caller to voicemail so she can leave you annoying messages that must be deleted. not so with pickup/hangup!). If you want to adjust the # of milliseconds between pickup and hangup, it is configurable in the registry. Just contact the developer!
It can block numbers with wildcards, even unknowns, and has time-sensitive settings as well. Can also block SMS via its contents (or sender).
Oh, and very small footprint, only 233.55kb (its fast!)
I've been using it for over a year and am very happy with it. Its $25. [http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html] And ... no, I promise I don't work for them!
Hey,
Thanks for your assistance, i'll buy MagiCall when i've got a bit of spare cash. thanks! I'll add these solutions to the wiki when i can.
Dave
Hey brotha I know what you mean I had the same problem. I was gonna change my number but I just ignored her and after about a month (I know thats a long time) she stopped. I have to give it to her she was persistent.

callfirewall?
You can try Photocontact Pro
smartblock 2.3
I use Call Block 1.17 from WISH Solutions.
I can't say for sure that it's the best, but it does the trick for me to get rid of all telemarketers who just keeps calling

Here is a solution for this problem on mobiion forum: http://www.mobiion.com/forum/index.php?topic=314.0
thank you mr.
It's a shame that you cant't get MagiCall to work on your Diamond. I have tested a lot of different callblockers but MagicAll is by far the best imho...
i'm using callfirewall... works fine.... now i can forget calls from my ex-girlfriend u can find it on sharemobile.ro.. just search for callfirewall
I tried Phonegate on my HD2 and surprise (!) - works like a charm! I tested many other apps but they either missed the first ring, or they were too complicated for me to configure.
p.s. I see this is a very old thread but it is still topical
Results for 3 Call blocking programs on HTC Touch Pro: AT&T
I've tried 3 different call blocking programs so far on my HTC Touch Pro (on AT&T):
Smart Block
SynergeTech
MagiCall
I've experienced the same problem with all of them: a couple times a day, they apparently crash the phone's ability to dial out - requiring a soft reset of the phone.
I'm assuming this has less to do with the programs and probably more to do with my particular config:
* Win 6.1 5.2.20771.1.1.4.6 (AT&T bloatware and TF3D removed)
* SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 for the interface.
Anyway, there's my report for what it's worth.
MagiCall did seem to be the best program with the most options, and it worked to block incoming calls - but the 2-3 times a day dial-out issue is worse than the 2-3 times a week robocalls.
PS:
AT&T/Verizon/Sprint and all providers really should offer a blacklist function as a STANDARD feature with their services. Robocalls are becoming more and more of an issue, and the Do Not Call List is a joke. Hell: I'd even shell out another couple bucks a month for this service if they really wanted to nickle and dime for it - which they probably would.
try this

Hi Guys,
Is there any possible way to block an annoying friend from sending SMS and calling, just on a tempary level?
Cheers
I needed to block someone, i wont go into the reason why but if you want to do it permanently..... i had to change my number, and it cost me roughly £30 (with Orange), not sure about temporary. If you are able to block a specific number from calling or texting you, what's to stop the person just using a different phone!
I would think that you'd have to contact your carrier and have them block the number.
there are an software called call firewall that block the incoming calls and mesages from the number you choose
How about this Shareware stuff?

Thanks guys,
It's just someone that is currently being over bearing at the moment
Have you tried Call Firewall?
I use Magicall -- works a treat. You can set many parameters so you have a lot of control on what goes on. Has always worked for me on many ROMs.

Hi
Is there an app that will allow me to either blacklist and reject calls, or direct them to a virtual voicemail box ?
Virtual VM being within the phone not the carrier ?
I had a similar app on my Nokia N95 8GB.
Thanks
You don't need a seperate app. Just add them as a contact and select Send to voicemail. Not tried it though.

I use that a lot problem is your phone still rings then it goes to voicemail, would have been lot better if it went straight to voicemail...

Maybe you can create an mp3 file of silence then set that as the ringtone for those contacts you want to send to voicemail. Will that work?
I just came here about to post the same thing!
Individual blocking on a case by case basis is fine. But not powerful enough. I came from Nokia E series and the only thing I miss is Advanced Call Manager.
If you look up this program, what you will find is that it has some great features:
- You can set up many lists then just tell the phone to use the list for a whitelist or blacklist.
- You can block all unknown numbers.
- Block everyone. Essentially turns phone into pager.
Even blocking calls is done in a variety of ways.
- to voicemail
- to busy tone
- block and send sms
- divert to various numbers depending on mode
Etc.
As you can see, it is a very powerful program that is set up very easily and I never had any complains, only praise. I often used it when I was writing when I would only want my partner and my mother to contact me and would block everyone else.
I have been looking but can't see anything as powerful or as highly rated. What I've found are:
aFirewall
Extreme Call Blocker
Phone Armor C.
But these seem either basic or don't work reliably.

For WM is avalible program which allow you all this. It is called MagiCall I hope that for Android is avalible something that. I hope that Im not do mistake when Im order Desire because looks like Android is not good as WM can be(missing a lot of features which are normal: USB sync like activesync, blocking calls... )
Is there an app to block incoming calls from an entire area code? I get telemarketers from Phoenix on a daily basis. No matter how many numbers I block, they always manage to call from a different number.
Alternatively, is there a call blocking app which has a list I can edit by means of a text file? If so, I can just do something in Excel and have it increment by 1 until I have all 10 million numbers blocked. Of course, that would have to be a HUGE text file!
I program I use which is really great, but not free, is called MagiCall. I think it's well worth the money though cause it lets you block not only calls, but sms and it does incoming and outgoing. This program will let you block a whole area code, or any other way you want to block a number. You never even notice when it blocks a call, unless you want to notice it, then you can set it to show a notification
Mobiion MagiCall
Call Firewall... Free & works well.....

I bought MagiCall and installed it but I don't get how to block by area code
EDIT: Figured it out!
Examples:
To block the entire area code 852, enter (852)* or (852)???-????.
To block any phone number containing 7, enter *7*.
To block all other phone numbers except 12345678, enter ~12345678.
If you want to block phone number 633-7777 but not care about its area codes or country codes, just enter 633-7777.
Each item consists of a phone number and an optional comment using one space as the separator, so please don't leave spaces among phone numbers. To separate multiple items, use ';'. For example: (123)456-7890 Jack Will; (987)654-3210 Peter Lee; 135-790-8642
No more calls from the 602 area code for me!
