Hello,
maybe somebody have advice, or have the same problem.
Few days ago, my phone do not recognize my SD card (sandisk 8 GB SDHC ), I try everything, but unfortunatelly SD card died.
OK, I went to store and buy another one, this time Kingstone 8GB class 4.
And, this one last 4 days and now it dies too.
I noticed that they dies after flashing new ROM, when I run SPB full restore.
Some advice, help.....???
Thanks in advance.
Interesting. I have just had a 16gb card die on me - and I mean die completely. Previously I have had corruptions but they are normally recoverable with a reformat. This time the card might as well not exist - neither the HD2 nor the PC can even see it.
Most of my past problems with card corruption have been related to flashes and i have learned from bitter experience to remove the card while flashing. Having done all of this as normal, the card was fine for a couple of hours after flashing and then just died. As I had followed the process I put it down to bad luck and am looking to get a replacement.
I don't use backup and restore after flashing as i am normally moving to new versions of ROM and the risks of restoring to a different ROM far outweigh the benefits. So it won't be that, but I would be interested to know if there is a perception that card corruptions are becoming more common after flashing.
I do flash through USB and wonder if flashing straight from the card might be safer, but other than that, I can't see what more can be done to get around this issue.
Is the card also "dead" on a pc card reader?
You don't use card encryption on the phone, do you?

The storage card in my phone has started vanishing. After a reset the card is visible but after a period of time it is no longer visible and can not be accessed, this period can vary from about two minutes to a couple of hours. I have performed a hard reset and that has not helped and when I tried to format the disc using Professional Mechanic I receiving a message saying that it is not possible to format the card.
Is it just that the SD card has become corrupted, if that is the case I will buy a new one?
Thanks
Michael
Try with another card, if you do not get the same problem, then it might be your card's issue. If you face the same problem with another card, I could be your phone's reader problem. I suspect is the card because you can't even format it...
Funny, on friday the same happened to me! Tried a lot, as well to save all data on my HDD, but it was not possible. Somehow several sectors are corrupt, and in the phone the SD disapears when the phone reads certain sectors, eg do a clean up scan with SkTools, or use the media player browser. Then it will be gone.
Today i did send it back to my distributor, as my one is a SanDisk, and they offer 60month of guarantee.
Good luck with your SD!
Try at first to save all Data before you try anything else! Otherwhise you might loose some data...
I have bought a new Micro SD card and everything is now working. Bought a smaller card and will see if that helps and prevents this card getting corrupted.
Well, I used mine a lot in the sd-adapter and the cardreader of the PC. And I read on the web that everyone recommends to use it only via mini-usb. Seems as if otherwhise the damage can come up. So maybe just use the mini-usb. I am so waiting for the replacement, hopefully tomorrow it will arrive!
Exactly the same problem with my Jade and a micro sd sandisk 8Go.
When soft reset it appears but if I try any operation on the sd (read, write, execute ...) it vanished.
I had the same problem friday night. On saturday I tried everything. Hard reset. Flashed a different rom... I was travelling and I didn't have an adapter for the micro SD to insert it on my notebook. When I got home I tried to copy everything from th card to my notebook and I found out some files were damaged. I formated the micro sd thought my notebook and coppied back the files that weren't damaged. After that it's been working fine!!!

may have solved my problem
EDIT : no, still the problem
DID U FORMAT THE SD? IS IT SANDISK? IF YES 2X REPLACE IT ia warranty...
Yes it is a sandisk 8Go.
I just bought a card reader and format on the PC (I was not able to format with all the softs I have tried on the Jade). Everything seems fine.
I've got the same problem. I've been using a Sandisk 16Gb for 8 months in my Jade without any problems until I updated the ROM with the new official ROM from HTC!
HTC were very unhelpful. All they would say is that the Jade can only use up to 4Gb cards. I tried to recover the data, via the USB as it showed up as empty if put in a reader. Tried formatting it but the standard XP tool wouldn't work so downloaded a formatting tool which worked.
It has worked fine for about a month, now its doing it again. I haven't tried a different card but I'm sure its not coincidence that it only started doing this after updating the ROM.
Is there any way to get the original ROM back. I know elsewhere on this site there are loads of ROM's available for flashing but I'm not ready to go down this route just yet. Does it need HSPL to put an original ROM back on?
Thanks,
Woolly.
i got 8gb memory card with my hd phone,it's 2 months old.suddenly memory card dosen't work on my phone. file manager does not show memory card even my phone shows the message 'install storage card'. now i am really worried,it seems like a big problem.i tried to another memory card but still shows the same issue.
plz suggest me how to get rid of it?.what to do now...............? .
same here..
for 6 months i hadnt got any problem.. but now the phone isnt recognizing the storage card
Use one of these to format your SD-card again:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/index.html
I want to format it.. but I want to back up it first because I have a lot of things that I dont want to lose.. But even my pc, doesnt shows me the storage card.. doesnt recognize it, to back up it..
please help..
If even card reader on PC can't recognize contents of SD, you can probably throw away that SD...
But, for last chance, try to read it with SD reader which came with SD card (if that was a case) or on another PC...
I will try my SD card in another phone... i havent SD reader.. I havent done anything to my phone.. It was ok, when I woke up and my phone didnt recognize my SD..
I heard about a program called restoration.. search for this..
maybe this can help me?.. format my SD, and then restore my things on SD again?
sooner or later all sdcards die be sure to backup important data from your sdcard to your computer once in awhile
My experience....
I see a number of comments about this problem in the Touch HD so I will share my experiences.
My HD quit recognizing the memory card some time ago. Occasionally I could re-install a ROM and get it to function briefly. As soon as I installed programs on the card, the links would disappear and the card would become unreadable. I tried different cards, I tried new cards, I formatted the card on my PC, I ran task29 to clean ROM memory prior to installing a new ROM and I I tried the stock HTC ROM. The micro SD cards are always perfectly functional and readable on my PC and on other devices including a friend's Touch HD.
After all of this, I gave up and I now use the HD without a memory card. I have become very frugal with memory useage!
If anyone discovers a fix for this malady, your solution would be greatly appreciated.
I searched.. and the only I found is that we have, as soon as we get our new SD card, to do a FAT32.. so it will not have a lot of problemss
If the card is formatted correctly, and is recognisable in a PC and other devices, then it's more than likely to be a hardware issue.
I know, because one of my devices is also broken exactly like this. It's likely the SIM/SD Comboboard, but I've never found a supplier for spares . . anyone know of anywhere?
Hello guys,
Same problem with touch hd. tried everything mentioned. task29, different roms, other sd-cards, reformatting etc... still no luck!
hope someone is going to find a solution soon!
Greetings
disapearing micro SD
I also had the same problem some time ago when connecting to pc through USB opting for disc drive connection and not using the sync button, then solved the problem when I flashed a new ROM.
Regards,
I also have this problem.
I've had the 8GB SD Card for about a year now and untill now, its always worked without a problem.
I installed a Topix Rom this weekend. I also installed most of my programs to the storage card.
Within a day it was dropping in and out. I am able to see the card, but not run any mp3's off it.
When the card drops out, I can either take the card out and reinsert it or restart the phone and the card is visible again. It still cant play mp3s or videos though.
Anyone else having this problem since they've installed a new Rom?
Hello I'm new here, I couldn't find what i was looking for so hear i go...My sd card is not working either after about 1 year just stopped working the phone says it is not installed so is it possible to reinstall it? Thanks...
Quick update...
I tried formatting the sd card & it worked. Thanks people

Spares for hardware fault
Just to add, as I said previously about my device, the SDCard reader was faulty, and HTC Europe refused to supply the part without a HTC Service Centre repair.
For anyone else having hardware issues, I managed to source the part from China, and now it's working perfectly again after a simple repair.
Here's the link; http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-simmicrousb-card-module-p-7149.html
I'm not sure if this is a common problem or not. There seem to be a lot of SD card issues, but the descriptions don't seem to apply to me.
I'm installing WP7 on the HD2, and everything works except that when I look in the available memory, it says there is 170MB (thereabouts) of storage space available when there is an SD card inserted. This card was present on the initial boot, and is the one that originally came with the HD2 - a SanDisk 2GB.
I don't have the restarting issues that others have seen, so I'm not sure if this is a symptom of the mysterious unsupported SD card issue?
hi,
Did you read this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912904
Partially, but I find most people there are having problems with constantly rebooting, or similar problems. I don't have these problems, just that the SD card isn't being used. I also have a wifi problem (always Searching) which I've read is SD card-related but I don't know if that because the SD card isn't being found and utilised, or that the card itself isn't supported.
Never mind. I tried another card (8GB SDHC, as opposed to the 2GB SD) and that picked it up straight away so it looks like it was just a case of the SD card being unsupported.
Hope this proves useful to others also.
What steps did u take when "trying another sd card" I have the 16 gig which i did NOT 1rst time boot with but did have interesting glitches i.e. wifi and reboots..
I tried Hard resetting with it in but to no avail. Hopefully there is still hope for my existing card as I am going to attempt a full 1rst install with it in but maybe you could post the steps you took when getting the new card to work
I powered off, inserted the new SD card, booted into MAGLDR and reinstalled Windows Phone 7. I believe the SD card has to be present on the first boot, so I reset may work, but I reinstalled just to be sure!
After installation and the first boot, the new SD card was recognised and used (as confirmed by checking 'About' in 'Settings'). Hope that helps.
anyone ever had their sd card stop responding and make all their apps disappear from the app drawer? I dont use apps2sd even the stock froyo because of responsiveness issues when mounting and unmounting the card. It pisses me off cuz i couldn't even read the card from my pc so i had to reformat it and consequently lose all my data... it's like it just stops being recognized by my phone and my computer all of a sudden. This has happened on numerous roms and kernels so i don't think it's software related. Is it time for a new card?
every week or so I will mount mine and give it an error check in windows just in case and since I been doing that my card hasn't given me any issues, it used to do what you described
that happend to my all the time but sometime a pull of the battery solve changed cards but it seems ist the phone i got fresh rom, but in cm7 doesnt happend to me
If you can't read it on your PC, it could certainly be a bad SD card. One program I've used to test SD cards is h2testw. It'll write data to the full capacity of the card, then verify the data it wrote. Format the card first.
http://www.heise.de/software/download/h2test/19574
Don't let the German on the site scare you -- there's an English option in the program. There are other testing tools as well, but this one has worked well for me.
Hello,
I've recently bought a Sandisk micro sd 32Gb class 10 for my HD2. The exact model is SDSDQU-032G-U46A.
I installed a rom via Native Sd method and everything ok until a couple of hours or so, and the phone hangs up. I had to pull of the battery and reboot. And then the same problem again. I released the micro sd and put in into the pc. To my surprise, the system ask me to format it
I reformatted it to fat32 but the issue is still there. I tried formatting the card with Sdformater, with minitool partition wizard, and other tools but everytime the same problem.
So finally, I thought it was a card failure and decided to ask for a refund. I received a new card, same model, and to my disappointment the new one was worse than the other one. I couldn't even install the rom, with a lot of partition errors. So I believe that there is a compatibility problem.
Anyone who has tried this card model can tell me his experience? What do you think, is it really a compatibility issue or I had bad luck?
Thank you for any help.
There is another guy having some problems with the sandisk class 10 32GB. He changed the sd, and everything worked flawlessly.
I'm not saying the sdcard is the problem, I'm saying that class 10 32GB is too good.
(Btw, I'm using the same class 10 ultra-sandisk but 16gb, and I never had a reboot on nativesd)

Hey I think I am using the same card as yours. The model number is SDSDQUA-032G-U46A. My card is working flawlessly. I have installed both Windows Phone 7 and Boxmax ROM . The SD card has 4 partitions. However, I do have issues with my phone, but it is not related to SD card. I bought the phone one month back from eBay. Well, I was unlucky and from the first day the phone has thermal problems, which has been discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982454
The seller probably sent me a refurbished piece. The phone hangs whenever I do something cpu intensive. So just a thought. Are you sure that it is problem with SD card? Or may be you can try some other ROM.
I'm pretty sure that it is the micro sd. I installed 3 different roms, all with the same result. I have tried same roms in other card and perfect.
Searching on the web I found this site http://www.sandiskcards.com/ where you can see which card is compatible with any devices. Regarding the HD2, it supports up to 32GB class 4 Sandisk micro sd. So I suppose that it's a compatiblity problem and there is nothing I can do about it.
However, there is people using a class 10 ultra-sandisk without issues at all. I'm confused.
Other who can share their experience?
Thanks.
Hey pepemonje,
did you ever try to fix permissions from within the android you are running? I had similar problems (programs being terminated and more) and tried to fix permissions from 4EXT and clockwork, but that didn't help. After fixing permissions with "NativeSDMultiboot" - "Tools" -> "Fix Permissions" those problems were mostly gone.
I'm not sure if that helps, its just a guess.
Regards

There are reports that NativeSD roms are not working very well with the SD card formatted via the mini tool. I myself encountered your issue. There are lots of FC and hangs up. I corrected this by simply performing a full wipe of data data/factory reset via the recovery. This will wipe out your data and format your Nand cache, SD Card Ext4 partition and linux swap if any in your SD, but will not touch your FAT32 windows partition and will remain intact. After that perform a fresh install and you should be good.
