Getting N1 for Rogers, should I flash? - Nexus One General

Ok, I've always run custom roms when I can and I hope to be getting the Nexus One soon and will be using it on Rogers in Canada...
Should I run it with the stock rom (root of course!!) and flash a custom rom?

I would run it stock for a while just to see what it's capable of and how it performs. Then U can flash away if U want to

I would try and hold out for the ATT band equipped N1 if at all possible so you can use the 3g on rogers.

Telstra Wildfire and Android 2.2 upgrade

Hi,
I was vacationing in Australia and decided to buy a Wildfire from Telstra. My main reason was the 850/2100 WCDMA. I live in Canada and travel a lot to Europe. I got the phone unlocked but not rooted (I can live with it being unrooted).
I read that most European carriers have released Froyo ROMs. I tried to see if an upgrade was available for mine but I can't seem to find anything.
I suppose that I could be safe and wait for Telstra to release the update (anyone knows when?) or I could root it and put a generic 2.2 rom on it? Would this generic ROM work on my device given that it's 850/2100 and not 900/2100?
Thanks a lot and sorry if I'm a little confused! This is my very first Android device!
PS I don't really care if the Froyo cannot be rooted.

Hello,
I also bought a Telstra Wildfire only about a week ago. I installed SUnAaBh 2.2.1 ROM on there, it works fine. Waiting for Telstra's branded and bloated 2.2 update will DEFINITELY have the new, unrootable HBOOT!
EDIT: Telstra makes these phones Quad-band and ensures worldwide capability, and flashing a custom ROM will not mess with the radio.
I have installed this stock ROM on my wifes Telstra Wildfire:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buz...5.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe
It works well and is stable and free of bloat that you find on carrriers ROMS.
yup, i'm with telstra running wildpuzzle v.08 rom, kicks arse over what stock froyo is

Porting stock L-01F (Japanese G2) ROM to d800 (AT&T G2)

I would like to know if it's possible to port the stock ROM of Japanese variant of the LG G2 (L-01F) to an AT&T LG G2?
I travel a LOT to Tokyo and using my phone on AT&T will just cost me an arm and 50 legs when I'm half across the world.
I'm thinking if I just flash the stock ROM of the Docomo version that it'll work, swap out my AT&T SIM card for a Docomo SIM card - flash the ROM and be good on the go. And when I go back to the states I'll just restore the nandroid of my AT&T stock ROM and slip in my AT&T card.
What exactly does it take to port the ROM over? I'm hearing that just flashing the ROM and flashing the AT&T kernel would work just fine.
Thanks for the help!
Bump, I really hope I've posted this in the right section.
I'm not a developer or anything, but wouldn't you need to unlock your phone for this?

Yes my phone is unlocked but some off the apps that are exclusive to Docomo handsets are locked and some are tied to their ROM framework and such. I tried downloading certain apps to see if I can get them to work on the AT&T ROM but it's a no go :\

A few questions about s4 rom development and usage

I have unlocked my sprint s4.
I am unhappy with the current room I have been using (darthstalker).
Unfortunately this is the only rom that has been working for me fully.
I would like to use cm11 but the current nightlies won't allow me to hangup or receive calls unless I use my sprint Sim and connect via sprint.
I am currently using gosmart as my provider.
1.
How can I get cm11 to detect it properly as a lte gsm (tmo) device and allow me to receive and hang up calls proper?
2. Can I update my firmware to NAE stock or Google edition without updating my baseband/modem?
3. What does the darthstalker installer do that allows it to be a multicarrier rom? I need to know what changes are made specifically to allow rooms to be tmo compatible.
4. What steps can I take to compile aosp for my device? This would be my most preferred route because then I can code in the features I want as time progresses.
Just to answer question #2 you can update to NAE stock ROM but you need the firmware sometimes to get data when using Sprint service. So it might be different for T-Mobile but idk.
And you are abkenro get LTE on T-Mobile? From my knowledge you can only get HSPA+ which is NOT 4G but a beefed up 3G.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
It says 4g in the corner when I connect over data and lte if I am in the city. I'm not entirely sure why because when I was using cyanogenmod it said I was using hspa+ when I connected to data.
I will make a nandroid and try NAE.
I really want to make my own version of Android tho.

[Q] Can I flash Tmo Stock Image on AT&T Model?

Just ordered my wife a G2, it is unlocked however it is the AT&T variant and we are on Tmo. I have read that someone took a Tmo rom and made it possible to flash this to the AT&T model along with the KK baseband so that we can use Tmos wifi calling. However I would like to know if I can simply just flash a Tmo stock image and flash the KK baseband if this will work or am I looking into this all wrong?
This is where I read about the Tmo on AT&T rom:
http://phoneprouser.com/lg-g2-rom-that-supports-wifi-calling-on-att/1007/
Can anyone tell me if the ROM mentioned in the link above is this the latest ROM for the G2? Thank you in advance.
Side Question, if I want to flash Cyanogenmod and still want to retain the wifi calling can I flash the Tmo rom along with the aforementioned KK baseband?

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE AND COMPLETE NO GO, FLASHING A FACTORY IMAGE FOR A DIFFERENT MODEL CAN HARD BRICK YOUR DEVICE, IN FACT I'D PRETTY MUCH GUARANTEE IT!!! GO INTO THE ATT DEVELOPMENT THREAD AND FIND SAID T MOBILE ROM FOR YOUR DEVICE, FLASH THAT IF YOU WANT TO. As an answer to the side question there is no way to retain wifi calling on cyanogenmod, especially on a non tmo device. Finally as for the baseband find out what baseband the respective ROMs need (the tmobile one for ATT G2s or the CM build you choose to use).

US Unlocked... VZW radio vs full VZW conversion for international use

I just picked up the standard Unlocked HTC 10 and I'm looking to use it as my Verizon daily driver. I'm also looking to use it overseas while I'm in Germany for a month (using whatever plan I find when I get there... recommendations would be appreciated, but I digress).
Are there any pros/cons to flashing the Verizon radios vs converting to the full Verizon version for when I make it overseas?

From my experience it's a waste of time "converting" it to a Verizon phone...flash one of the ROMs that support multiple carriers.. for example leedroid ROM or viper. Keep the zip on your SD In case you gotta flash it in Germany to choose another carrier(international) support option.

SInce the MID is already the same why not just S-off and supercid the device.. .allowing you to fully go either direction by simply flashing an RUU file from your ext SD ?

SuperCID wouldn't let me flash the ROMs...
Well, the ROMs flashed but wouldn't boot up. Just hangs up on green htc logo. Soon as I changed CID back to unlocked, everything worked fine again. Idk maybe it's just me
I'm hoping for something that allows a simple sim card swap as (truth be told) it's going to be used by my mother.
Idk if you can do that. I believe you still have to change some thing in the "mobile data" settings going from Verizon to using it in Germany. Not sure though. Maybe some of these ROMs will have all the goodness already baked in...
