Is it possible to make the LED flash quicker for notifications?

Hi guys,
Is there any reg hack to make the LED flash faster for notifications by changing the interval?
It really bugs me not being able to tell the difference between a notification and low battery level because they both flash the same colour
i too agree ..... any answers anyone?
here, here.
One of the features i miss that was on the prophet. The LED would flash at twice the rate for a message, so was easily spotted.
Glad im not the only one who would like this feature. It would be really nice if there was a way to do it.
Anyone?
the blinking is way too slow! sometime i have to stare at the phone for awhile to see the light to comfirms my pdaphone is ON.
Yeah i find myself doing that but to see if i have a new message/missed call etc. It's a shame nobody seems to know of a way to modify the speed at which it pulses

Forget that, to tell difference between bluetooth on and wifi on is a killer!
I was wondering if the reg settings from the wiki for custom notifications (flash led x seconds) is applicable? I haven't tried it, but thought if i said, flash for 5 seconds, it would be like a steady on for 5 seconds, off, on for 5 seconds?
What is the reg setting for custom notifications? The only key i can see mentioned in the Wiki is RingTone0 which is for incoming calls not for other notifications.

Oh. I thought that you could set that for all types of notifications individually.
sorry!

It would be good if that was possible, but i don't think it is..?
bumping this thread; wondering if anyone has discovered a way yet?
I'd like to stop the service blinking LED (only blink for notifications) Any hacks out there? Yes, I searched...
BUMP BUMP!!
Cant belive that nobody found a solution.
Its really anoying that I can not check if a SMS arrived or bluetooth is switched on just by a short look.
The blinking frequenzy on my Hermes is 3 sec for the green (right) led and 6 sec. for the blue (left) led.
This is definitly too long.
PLS. post a solution!
Any sulution?
1)
I know there is a thread already existing: (General/Dev + Hacking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295729&highlight=hack+led+possible+on+wm6).
But its written that this is not stable, especialy when device is in standby mode.
2)
I remember there was a reg hack too to change a script which is responsible for controlling the leds. But this is only for ringtone, not for notifications! (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry)
I guess such a little (userfriendly) programm which can change frequency and colour of the LED´s for notifications would be very usefull to all.
Or even a registry hack would help.
Vijay555, if you read this: please help and enlighten us!
nobody ???
Ah -- all the developers hae now flocked to the Kaiser. it's the damned nature of the beast!
I think so too,
Everybdy is spending too much time with useless romcocking.
Comeon, such a hack would be really usefull!
No Answers?
I do agree, it would be VERY usefull.
Just adding to the pot of would like to have.

Reminder led blinks for only 5 minutes!

Hi,
The led in htc hero blinks for only 5 minutes after a e-mail is received (and not checked). This is awfully, since the whole point is check thru the led if any event was missed. The ppc has a registry hack to make the led blinks to infinite (or till you check the message), so, any workaround for hero?
Thanks.
PS: We already don't have colored leds, and now this, very disappointed with HTC.

This doesn't quite resolve the issue, as this program doesn't use the trackball LED, but instead uses the green LED in the speaker. Also, it doesn't have settings for emails, which it seems andreofgyn would like.
When I get some time, I will do some digging around and see if I can find the trackball settings in the system. There's a good chance it will require a rooted phone to adjust the setting. I'm working on a custom bootscreen atm, once, I've got that sorted out, I'll look into this.
EDIT: Alright, maybe andreofgyn wasn't referring to the trackball LED. I just realized that when the Hero gets an email, the speaker-LED is actually the one that blinks, and not the trackball like all our other notifications.
Myself, I'm more concerned with the trackball LED for missed calls and text messages only lasting 5 minutes, so that's probably what I'll look into first. If people want to provide feedback about specific LED's (eg. would you like the trackball LED for emails, or is the speaker LED ok?) then I can see what I can find.
Okay E-Mail isn´t supportet but SMS and call. Is it difficult to make a option more for E-Mail?
The trackball isn´t support from any programm. By example Handcent SMS has got a option, but it doesn´t work. HTC release a developer kit, but nothing work yet. So when you will make it, I say thank you!

Yeah, I was refering to "speaker-LED", but if you can do unlimited flash with the trackball LED, it's good too. Missed Reminder is a good app, but like craig0r said, no e-mail reminders.
I have a rooted phone and can test anything. Thanks for all good will answers

Hm... maybe this will automatically get fixed in Modaco when they move to a newer base ROM.
I also have a telus htc hero with the modaco rom and the blinking LED/trackball only blinks for about 5m than stops

is there any solution to this other than using a third party app?

lost an old post about LED buttons on Tilt II

Hi,
Back again after a long time. In an old post I asked about a tweek that would leave the LED lights on the bottom of my Tilt II while on external power.
Can you help me again. I just updated my ROM an lost that setting.
Many Thanks,
JimJep
You can look at all of your posts by clicking on your name and selecting find all posts.
That's how I found this for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5231341#post5231341
Edit: Okay, maybe you can't click on yur own name and find your own post, but you can click on someone elses name and find thier posts.
I'm sure in the user CP there is a way to find all of your own posts though.
I was wondering if there was a way to control the LEDs when you get a text? I think it'd be cool if the light blinked blue instead of that orange color when you get a notification (text, email, etc).

In user cp, its "show all statistics" on the right side of the screen. That give you options for show all posts, or threads started... or just click on the statistics tab in the user cp
I think the OP was referring to the hard key lights, not the notification light.

I'm looking for this too. I found something for have it always on, not only on AC. But, it is slow to wake up with it... So, I would also preffer to have it only on AC...

Capacitive key backlight timeout

What do i need to edit to increase the timeout of the capacitive buttons? Im sure everyone is in this boat - the backlight switches off after two seconds or so of inactivity...

Hi,
Thats an interesting one...I have no idea (until now I was a WM user), but I would be glad to kwno how to increase the timeout. Shouldn't it be locked to the display timeout? Would make sense in my opinion...

What about setting the LEDs up to show notifications for new messages, new emails, missed calls, etc.?
Bump.......
This is nothing about development... please post in General instead of Development forum, you'll find your answer faster there next time.
oh really? i would say a) editing core android files is development and b) am i really getting advice from a noob?
There's this... Blinker - Button LED Notification
Still early days, but if he's got direct control over those buttons he might be able to change the timeout, and the app answers zyborg's post in any case.
I shall ask him.

I can't find the timeout... I guess its the same timeout like for the Lockscreen 5000ms.
I could only do a workarround, something like everytime when the light turns off... my app turns it on. But thats a little bit dirty ;-)
I imagine that this will not be easy, as there is a development thread over in the SGS forum about Back Light Notifications (BLN).
It can only be achieved through flashing a modified kernel - and as I understand it, the dev tried many different methods to get it to work until deciding on the current method.
Bumpage . . .

[Q] What? No LED notification?

Doesn't this phone have a LED notification feature??
Why should it have?
Isn't that obvious..?: To notify the user of missed calls and new text/email messages...

The lock screen does a pretty good job of keeping you up to date on whats been happening. I didn't even realise any new smart phones had LED notifications.
That response is hilariously absurd. I have to actually pick my phone up and look to see if something is happening?

I have to say - I had the HTC Diamond before my Omnia and this is the one feature I miss.
The Phone is a million times better in every other aspect, so I will oversee this flaw

No, it doesn't. Unfortunately, this is one of the features I miss from my HD2.
But there are dozens of things that are better, so I'll get along with it
Just noticed that. I've been adapting to the icons and never checked.
I like the icons it seems, with Txt, E-mail, Multiple accounts and apps with their own notifications. Wouldn't want to have to memorise each beep. dash. dot for what i missed in this day and age, the icon tells me in one glance what I've missed with a symbol, maybe coloured dots would be the same but, i did wonder how do you not look at the phone to see the LED notification?
That i wanna learn
Point explained
We're talking hardware design here. As far as I can see from inspecting the device, it DOES have LEDs under the buttons, which means that it is INDEED possible to implement a LED notification hack of some sort... like it's been done on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, for instance (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830782)!
The advantage: A slow-blinking LED will enable the user to become notified of a new text/email message/missed call by just glancing at the phone from afar, ergo not having to pick the phone up AND turn on the screen.
It's an epic fail, in my opinion, that this cannot be found in the otherwise great hardware design of the Omnia 7, as all well-crafted smartphones these days incorporate such functionality (e.g. the HTC Hero).

If someone writes such an app, and it does not consume much more power, it would be a reason for me to do the unlock...
I guess there is no chance that this app would be approved via the official way?
Just realized: Someone's actually made an app for submitting and voting for already submitted ideas for improvements to WP7. It's called "My WP7 Idea", and yes, it already contains my idea. USE IT! (and please, please, please VOTE for this)
Does anyone know if there's a LED under the middle touch navigation button (the one with the Windows logo)? Would be cool, if this could light up with notifications, wouldn't it...?
Theres not a LED. Only the other 2 buttons lighten up. I don't think that's a problem tough.
You could think of a procedure like back button enlightened when a new sms is there, search button when you have a missed call or something.
Close to the light sensor i saw another something,i dont know what is it for..but on a video on youtube..i saw it blinking in blue..when the user used bluetooth for calling...anyone noticed that?
we got 4" led display !
can notification led just be emulated by a small blinking square right in the center of the screen ?

I don't understand how this could bother you so much, unless you like people to notice that you are popular. You should have looked at the specs before you bought it - seems to be an ongoing problem people have with phones.

you can't be serious? since the dawn of man (ok,mobile), a phone has had a visual indicator that you have missed an event. This is like having an alarm clock with no alarm. you just have to keep waking up and switching the screen on!
I've recently got my hands on an Omnia 7 and today I realised I was missing emails, sms etc because there was no led flashing. I thought it was broken. Turns out it isn't... the logic of samsung is.
