Open Browser Directly into Bookmarks? - Nexus One General

does anyone know if you can set the browser to open to the bookmark overview instead of the homepage? Maybe we should request this feature from a dev?

I don't think so but you probably could make a folder on the desktop with all your bookmarks inside.

Download "Live Bookmarks" from the market... not exactly what you are asking, but as close as it gets without SenseUI.

browser q re desire Rom

Simple one, how do I set the desire sense UI web browser to display a full webpage not the mobile vsrsiln, the site in particular is chimet.co.uk which I use for kitesurfing. I can do this with the dolphin browser but want to use the standard one with the HTC bookmark widget.

go into the browser settings and remove the checkmark for Mobile View and you should get the desktop browser view.
Doh! Can't believe I missed that, thanks!

[Q] Browser default to mobile version of websites

Just got my Xoom...they waived the activation fee and I got a 25% discount on accesories...but that is all beside the point....
The browser defaults to the mobile version of websites. If anyone aware of a way to change that?
Change the browser user-agent to desktop? That what I do using Dolphin HD on the gTablet.

type about:debug in the browser bar
(in 2.2)
you would scroll down to the bottom of the menu list and in settings there is a setting called user agent. turn it to desktop.
Yea If you dont see a setting for useragent strings try putting "aboug:debug" in the browser address bar. Nothing will happen, but check the menu settings again and see if the option becomes available. I would assume useragent string would be available by default in the new chromey browser, but who knows.
edit: grrrr.. generic.imitation beat me
Thanks....I didn't see this at the bottom of the websites before, but now I have the option to view the full site.
the "about:debug" works i just did it on my xoom
it puts a debug category in the settings and under "UAString" select Desktop
Just curious if anyone else have to do this every so often? I would change mine to desktop and surf to droid-life, which would display the full site but the next time I fire up the browser, droid-life would display the mobile site until I select desktop in settings again (which was already selected). This happens on other sites as well.
debug in browser worked for me. Great simple tip. Thanks guys

Same problem here.
Definitely only a temporary fix. Hopefully an update comes soon or a good replacement browser... the mobile version thing is literally the only thing I don't like about this browser.

Somehow Facebook knows. It still sent me to their mobile site.

Uploading multiple photos to FB on GS2

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to upload multiple photos to Facebook from the SGS2, directly from the gallery if possible? I have downloaded an app called Speedy Uploader, but was wondering if there is any way t o do it straight from the gallery.
I use a cool app called 'Speedy Uploader'.
Hope that helps.

Did you even read the post?
OP, there isn't a native way but something like the Speedy Uploader app you're using should allow you to select all the images you like and then use the 'Share' button. That'll stop you having to open a second app.

Yes the metro one does not allow pug-ins. It will have some small flash support but only from MS themselves and only for selected content. If a site has pug in content it will advise you and direct you to the desktop explorer.
Also you don't have to have it as explorer, if you have chrome you can set that as your default browser and then chrome will be your metro browser etc.
Can we just disable the metro browser!!???
I feel better if my entire browsing is only in one place!!

Yes. Go to internet options. Somewhere in there, there is an option that lets you open IE windows only in desktop.

Unpin chrome, then find the executable for it, and pin that.

Remove link previews through Samsung's messenger app?

OK, so I've been using Google Messenger for ages now, and I have no idea how the Samsung messenger works. Right now, when I click a link in a text, it brings up an internal Samsung browser that opens the page. Is there any way I can disable it, and just open it in my default web browser (In this case, Firefox)?
Thanks in advance for the help.

you need to clear default data from Samsung Browser
next it will ask how to complete action (select Firefox)
:good:
Sorry, maybe I was unclear: Clicking the link isn't opening Samsung's browser itself, it's opening like an "in app" browser, which opens the web page. I then have to click "more" and select "Open in browser". I've never actually opened the Samsung browser, and it's not selected as a default for anything.

I actually hate textra. The only reason I'm using the stock app is for the RCS and the always on screen notifications. If I was going to move away from the stock app, I'd just go back to Google Messenger.

There isn't, at all. I've checked every setting in the app, trying to find something hidden through system settings but I'm not expecting anything.
edit: wrong reply.
