Hi everybody,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but i'll give it a go:
How come the quality of a picture set as a wallpaper is so much worse than the same picture opened in the album? Wallpapers always appear grainy and dull, but pictures in the album are crystal clear. Can anything be done about this?
Any toughts?
HDWall.
Backgrounds look bad because sense actually scale them down, and reenlarge afterwards for display.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but I set a picture to be my wallpaper and realised that at the home screen, it looks very blur. I checked the width and height of the picture and it is 480x800. Also when I view the picture in the photo gallery, it is much much sharper, like what it supposed to be.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks!
ave a look in the themes an apps section. 480 x 800 will show up unless you follows a guide on how to make it come up crystal.
Just do a search for Wallpaper Guide

I just tested my phone and no probs all wallpapers or pictures look great
Can I ask how you selected your wallpaper?
Was it through settings wallpaper?
or another method
I've also noticed this as some pics transfer fine and clear to the wallpaper and some look enlarged and blurry. I'm thinking it's the larger screen size vs. the pic resolution size. My pro at 2.8" was not an issue. It hasn't bothered me enough to seek a fix, I'm using mobile shell and selecting the change image option. Ureka!! thats it, the shell! Doh!!! just my $.02

yeah i had a diamond before this and the wallpapers looked great there.
but the funny part is that the pics look great and sharp when viewed in the photo gallery, but only becomes blur when used as wallpaper.
OH and they don't look enlarged lol. the wallpapaer keeps the size, but it's really blur.
Just use the search button and read the wiki, this is another one of those topics that have been done to death, there's heaps of information on it.
if I take a picture and when I look in the photo album I see the pictures very strange just the blurred colors and thick but when I see it open it's good how can I change it
no one ?? please some help here
It's a bug. Everyone suffers from it, more or less
ok so I'm not the only one who experience these but there is one topic on which it stands?
I'm not sure whether this is a problem with Android (doubt it), HTC Sense in general or the HTC Photos app..
But what I'm finding is that pictures with gradients (usually ones computer generated) have their gradients shown very bady and makes the picture look terrible. Instead of doing a smooth colour transition, it sort of does it in chunks..

As you can see here, isntead of fading smoothly from the red to black, it does those ugly layers. I first noticed it when I had this picture set as the lock screen picture because it does it there too. In bright light its almost impossible to tell, but in the dark it tooks terrible.
Sometimes when I look at the full picture in the Photo app it doesn't do the gradient so badly, but when I go to pinch zoom the slightest it instantly changes to look like that. (isnt just a problem with the one picture btw). I thought it might be something to do with the large picture being resized to fit the screen, but I resized the picture on a computer to be smaller than the screens dimensions and it does the same thing.
Another slight issue I picked up is that black areas in a wallpaper picture don't show as 'true black'. When I view the picture with the black background fullscreen in Photos, the black areas are true black (tested at night - true black of AMOLED screen). But when the picture is set as background, there is a noticeable difference between the blackness of the background and the 'true blackness' of the bottom of the notification bar...
Might be hard to see, but to show what I mean:

Does anyone have any explanation for these problems, and even better, fixes?
I've got HTC Legend unrooted
Cheers

Take a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993596
If you realise that the center is 1280x1024 it is perfectly explainable why standard 1280x1024 wallpapers will not work.
Download this and try...correct sized wallpaper...

Question, Is there a mod or a way to remove the ugly over sharpening filter that the gallery adds to photo's. In google's photo album the pics look great, but in the default samsung gallery photos get over sharpened once you select a photo things get real noisy and hard looking. especially the indoor darker pictures suffer from the added noise.
