HTC Touch Input not installing - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hey all,
So I just reflashed my phone with King's 1.5 AOSP Rom, was in the process of restoring apps/data with Titanium Backup, restored what I believe was the Touch Input dictionary, it asked me if I wanted to install the app (Touch keyboard) which I'd just done, I said yes, something went wrong and now Touch Input isn't install and won't install when I try to.
When I try to install it, it asks if I want to overwrite the program that's already installed, I say yes, but it doesn't install.
And I've looked, I can't find any evidence that Touch Input is installed anywhere, can't select it via "Input Method", it's not in the settings under Keyboard.
Anyone run into this? Know how I can fix this? I don't want to have to reflash all over again.
Thanks!

[Q] How to revert back to original 'phone' settings

When I installed the resco contact manager this came instead! I think I messed up when I used SSMaPa and cannot figure how to arrange it back - Full Restore does not solve the problem!
Is there a way to revert back to the original 'phone' settings? I can't figure a way around it.
Sorry for the blurry images it's the best I could get
Thanks for any help
in ssmapa there is an option to disable all the changes made, dunno if this is the full restore you are talking about. It generally works without problems, only you MUST be sure to disable tf3d in settings/today/items/untick touchflo 3d
another option is the hard reset, which will revert ALL your phone to factory settings. You can use a backup program to backup all your stuff and proceed with it by going to start/settings/system/clear storage. Note that your memory card won't be touched by this procedure so you can save your stuff there
Thanks for the tips. Can you recommend a backup program that will backup my installed programs as well please?

Restoring backed up data with "Backup for Root Users" - it does not work!

Hi!
I've wiped everything from HTC hero, installed latest modaco custom rom (2.9) and all seems fast and fine.
Now I want to restore contacts, sms, and rest which I had backed up using the "Backup for Root Users" app. It does not work.
I tried both the old and the new version (=Backup). I know I have all the required sqlite .db files (I can even view them with other sqlite tools).
How can I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Finally it did work.
just for the record: next time would be helpfull to know why or how it did not work. this was more like: " my car does not start, but the gas tank is full. why?"
did you figure out what went wrong?
I would be very interested to know how you got this to work and why it was going wrong too.
When i tried to use it, i backed it up ok, could see all the required files on my SDcard, but when i went to restore, it didnt restore anything on my phone.
Can anbody tell me how i can use back up for root users to restore the back up.

Swype after reinstalling ROM

I have swype in default(English) and also type in Spanish. I see that once I type a word in Spanish it registers next time I type it. Now 2 days ago I installed a custom ROM, and obviously deleted everything and now I have to type in swype letter by letter(Spanish). I'm going to reinstall a new custom ROM pretty soon and I was wondering if there is any way to keep the registry of swype so my spanish words are still there after doing this? Maybe I can save some registry files into my sd card then move them back to the phone?
Thanks!
can anyone answer this?
You might try Titanium Backup (and later, a Restore).
I have that app on my phone and I've only used it once, to make a complete backup of all my apps, but the user guide appeared to say that it would save all cached data of your apps. And it appears that's what you're wanting to do.

[Q] 'Bootloop' because of 'show touches'

Hey guys, got a little problem and hope you can help me:
Got into developer options to change sth and by accident activated 'show touches'. After trying to deactivate it I got a hot reboot. When the phone was done loading I wanted to enter my PIN but when I started it rebooted again. Tried again but seems as if I can't access anything because on every touch my phone does a hot reboot.
My problem is that I haven't done a backup in the last weeks and can't get rid of this 'bootloop'.
Is there a possibility to revert 'show touches' (flashable zip/from the backup I made of the crashed system)?

HTC HD2 EU 512
ROM: Paranoid Android Leo Beta V2.15
Making a backup of the "crashed" system is making a backup of the "show touches" being checked, it won't help as a whole, read below.
I have heard many people having this issue, however I haven't faced it before, I can show touches and use the phone just fine.
Anyway, I am not sure if this will work or not, but it's worth a shot. You make a backup of your current system, then wipe and reinstall the ROM from scratch. Then use the Advanced Restore to restore your data and everything else but "system" partition. Now I am not sure if the changes you made are stored in "data" or "system", but as I said it's worth a try.
Yep, I know that the checked 'show touches' is included, though maybe it's possible to extract that..and change it?
Advanced restore was my first attempt - sadly I had hot reboots after restoring 'data' and not 'system'. ;/
I'm neither a developer nor a cook, I am not sure if that can be done.
Okay, you can use Titanium Backup to restore apps from a backup.
Wipe, then flash the ROM again and install Titanium backup, press the menu and you should see "extract from nandroid backup" or something like that. This will allow you to restore the apps and (possible along with their data), but you'll have to set up the phone again, you will just get the apps. Try it and see how it goes.
Edit:
Ahhh, I'm sorry I forgot to mention, I only use TB Pro. I am not sure if that's a pro-only feature or is available on free as well. So if you can't find it, maybe you'll have to get the pro version .
Ah ok, learned sth new..thought I had been through TB by now?
Will try that and look how much I can save/restore, thx m8!

Fresh rom install, chose not to restore any apps. Can I re-launch that wizard?

If I chose to bypass the installing of all my previously installed apps (from the recent cloud backup) after installing a fresh rom, is there any way to get back into that wizard and chose to install all those apps?

If you chose a fresh install probably not. I did the same as you in the past and never found a way to do it. You might want to reinstall the ROM and see if you are given the restore choice again.
