I myself have spent the best part of today searching for an answer to my own and the question of many others.
It seems it's possible to have landscape active, yet keep the stock music and pictures tabs -so that you can scroll from left to right lke coverart-
I've seen many mentions of it, many more requests for it, one or two suggested fixes for it, but no solution as of yet.
Can anyone offer a quick fix solution in this thread to answer the questions of all who are clueless?
Many thanks
Hi,
I would like to know too. I just recently bought this phone after having a normal phone for a few years (I had an HTC Blueangel before). I had the stock rom on it for only an hour, but I did remember the thing going into landscape after holding the device that way.
I've had several modified roms on it already (Dutty's most of the time) but I just recently noticed I couldn't get it into landscape. It seems strange to me those modified ROMS aren't tweaked to do this properly or am I missing something?
fully landscaped manila is not a real rom.it was released by htc to find a rom leaker. only certain tabs are naturally landscape enabled.
if you want to try a fully landscape enabled manila rom try sone rom 1.33 from the link in my sig.
Thanks for the link,
What I've seen talked about many times now though, and requested even more than that was the very same landscape tweak that many use on xda-dev for their HD2 just now, but with the removal of the tweaked landscape effect on both the "pictures" and the "music" tab, leaving those ones to operate like the stock HD2 has them (flipping on their side and panning like iphone cover art -from side to side-)
There too has been some solutions offered, but the ones I've seen haven't worked for me and left the screen black when landscape is activated.
I know it still has problems with centering the content on tabs like footprints but having the above would be a big stretch from the compromise we have to face at the moment.
There is hope for a solution yet, and surely it would be possible to have the landscape tweak only applied the rest of the tabs, no?
Thanks
Update: Still been looking, had a try of MaxManilla 3 and while it handles landscape effortlessly for most tabs, it still does it uniformly and doesn't exclude the music, reader and pictures tab to allow the coverart view.
Note for anyone tempted by it, MaxManilla is really handy in that it can flip to the right or to the left. Default is left, I prefer right. Quite a nice feature.
So can anyone offer any expertise? can landscape be implemented like the fixes out there but deactivated for a select few tabs?
Surely it's only a setting somewhere? I see registry settings for tabs but wouldn't know what to do with them tbh.

Hi,
I've been lurking around since reading a review about the Diamond on GSMArena.com (and then deciding it was the phone for me) where they mention this site as the tweaking place for the phone (among others).
After alot of reading about and installing various apps (that are freaking awesome) there are few things i would like that i havent been able to find, either through my lack of searching skills or the inability to word the searches correctly, anyway, to my questions.
1) On the TF3D Home menu screen, is there anyway to disable the touch ability of the large flip clock ? (as when i touch it currently it highlights green and loads the Time/Date/Alarms menu, and i would prefer it not to)
2) Also on the TF3D Home menu screen, is there anyway to remove the ''Call History'' and ''Calendar'' Links ?
Thanks alot for any help you guys can come up with for me

As far as I know.. (please someone correct me if I'm wrong!)
No, only way to do that is to disable the whole screen..
No (install the analog clock?)
The reason is that those functions is hardcoded in the manila files... sorry
Thanks NisseDILLIGAF for your reply.
There's no need to be sorry too, i figured after reading alot of posts on the Manilla program that alot of things are still in early development regarding customisation of it, so there's no need to worry and im certainly not devastated by the lack of such mods thus far. And as im stuck with the Touch Diamond (very happily of course) for at least the next 18months i have plenty of patience in hoping that modifications like the ones i would like might be developed within that time period (but of course, im not going to cry or moan if they never do, or its simply not possible in the end)
Anyway, thanks alot for your reply

one way might be to modify the link of "click on clock" to point to today and modifying the skin with the green highlight to be transparent.

I know this has came up before but i am not sure if this is solved.
I download the gyrator and everything is fine. However whenever I lock the phone I can rotate the TF3D screen. Once it is in landscape mode, half of the screen is mess up. Is there any instruction to disable rotation when the phone is locked?
thanks for advice in advance.
Same here , I couldnt find out HOW
I'm not sure even where to begin (please use search as this has been solved like 5 times over; not that it was really a problem to begin with, just an issue). But to save you time this once (SEARCH) here's a couple options.
If you want to keep using Gyrator: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448141 (that itself has two different solutions, one applied to probably what you have done and have auto-rotate everything and then exclude certain things and the other is rotate only things which you want rotated (probably better, definitally safer and less buggy)).
Furthermore you can change from Gyrator to Gsen or ChangeScreen(probably better as it's dumbed down and made really simple but still very effective) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468488&highlight=rotate
Lastly (not really, I just don't feel like typing more) you can change your ROM to Dutty's as it runs on the new manila v3 which allows for landscape rotation (Dutty's is not the only ROM that has it, so once again, you have choices here as well).

Hope it helps
thanks for the info

You need to set Gyrator so it doesn't rotate in the lock screen, manilla should already be disabled but when the phone is locked manilla is not the foremost app anymore. To do this add a new event above Rotate, Edit the event and call it something like Disable (Lock), set the Application to Dialog, set orentation to portrait, set Actions to Rotate screen. Click apply then Click and hold the new event and set it as Orientation and click apply again. This will also stop your email from auto rotating in message view, but if you go to landscape in the list view you can still work in landscape for email and SMS.

I already did so, thank you. But I really wanted to get manilla working in landscape mode with the standard ROM. I saw it working fine with other cooked ROMs but not with mine. The only way to solve this is to flash with a newer ROM ? Or there is a cab to solve this issue ?
New rom
Hi there, I believe your problem stems from the fact that your version of manila does not support landscape viewing. Having tried a few things with varying success, I flashed to Duttys 2.1 rom and am glad to have done so. It's a far superior experience with hugely improved notifications, faster response times, more storage space free on the HD itself and it also rotates manila without glitching the backgrounds.
I recommend you try it
Actually the dealer told me that I would lose the warranty if I flash the device with non official ROM. Also my ROM is not found on the internet ( 1.14.488.3 WWE )
no current stock rom runs on manila v3 and therefore no stock rom supports landscape. In order to avoid voiding warranty, you can flash the rom using USPL (keeps original SPL) and then before sanding your phone in for w/e reason you simply flash back to original rom (by either backing yours up or chances are it's already posted in the wiki ROM section as they have most of them). If you were to send in the phone with a none stock rom, they may or may not refuse to fix it because technically you have voided the warranty (but if you flash it back to original rom using USPL, then they have no idea)
Can you rotate the screen whilst on TF3D?
Like so when im typing a text, its sideways (Landscape) and not long ways (Portrait)?
When o nthe internet it does it auto when I turn the phone.
Its a standard HD, no roms installed.
Yes you can, and plz use search.
There are many many ways to do this on the hd. you just need one of the rotation programs (changeScreen, gyrator, gsen....).
Again, plz use search before posting.
Topic Creator,
You can use programs like Changescreen to do what you want. I'd recommend this program as it seems very good and user friendly. However, if you want a more normal hands on approach, you can even use AE Button Plus, or heck, make a mortscript to do it for you.
However, after testing on my own HD, you can't really flip the the TouchFlo HOME screen as it'll be all funny and weird. I'm guessing you'll need a custom ROM like Dutty's to be able to do that.
Cheers.

To clarify that, in order to flip 'home screen' or any of the manila tabs, you need manila 2.0 or higher which supports landscape. Manila 1.0 (which is stock on all stock ROMs) does not support landscape mode. However, you will still be able to rotate the sms/email to landscape (without flashig the ROM) through one of the programs as they are not part of manila. (As noted, it is also possible to assign rotation to one of the 'hardware' buttons instead of using the gyrator/accelorometer.)
I have searched heaven and hell to find a way to get the D2 running in landscape view, that is for it to switch to landscape view when you rotate the screen. So far I have found apps that allows everything but manilla and its tabs (including home page) run in landscape.
Is there a way to do this?

You can make use of the Topaz drivers itself to do auto-rotation. You do not need to install additional application running in background.
There're some registry editings to be done. Nevertheless, you can use this application to help you enter those into the whitelist. You need to soft-reset after inputting all the applications you'd like to auto rotate.

I tried that, along with changescreen. I still can't bet the tabs screens to rotate. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Landscape manila for d2 is more annoying then useful, if you tilt the phone past the tilt point either way (portrait or landscape) it will rotate and take at least half a second to change screen, and it enerally takes more to come back to portrait. This makes it difficult to immediately read stuff or accept calls as the screens changing layout and the buttons end up in different places.
Landscape would only be useful on phones like the pro2 and it's previous variants when you need landscape while the keyboards out. Other than that just make your mail programs etc landscape capable.
There are other threads with reg keys and apps to use, just follow those and see if they give you success.
Cheers,
Scott
Graphics from the manila tabs aka TD2 homescreen are not designed for lanfscape view, therefor its like Scott (post #4) sayd, more annoying than usefull.
Thanks a lot guys. I think I see your point. Funny thing is that it was my recently installed S2U app that drove it home. It was annoying as hell when it kept switching to views.
hi,
i installed Kenia V Rom (WM 6.1, Sense 2.5).
I would like to disable totally any autorotate.
I tried in a lot of ways:
- installing programs (flipit, changescreen, gyrator)
- using programs and tweeks in the rom
- using some reg keys (local>software>htc>htcsensor; and other keys)..
....
...but i can't disable autorotation in album...after soft reset, the key "local>software>htc>htcsensor>gsensor deviceAvailability" (that i set to 0) come back to 1.....
any ideas?
thanks
MOD EDIT - Thread moved to General discussion forum as not related to rom development
With apologies to thread starter, I want to do the opposite! I want to have everything on my Touch HD rotate as I use it in the car landscape. The last thing I found would do this is MaxManila but nothing since and MaxSense does not support landscape.
For example, using Energy ROM with CHT, 21908 / 2015 10 Jul 10, this has rotate screen so I get into car, rotate to landscape fine, start satnav which is landscape OK, then someone calls me, phone answers in landscape then switches (without me doing anything) to portrait, finish phone call and now satnav has switched to portrait. Aargh. Where/how can I find something that just sets autorotate everything = on without having to set every single bloody application separately.
gyrator 2 does that.
and it is free and easy to set up.

From memory, Gyrator was one of the apps cooked into one of the many ROMS I tried since the last MaxManila one. I had to set each and every application I wanted to be landscape. Such a PITA, I never bothered. Plus it didn't seem to work OK with dialler (or I couldn't find how).
I just checked today on the Gyrator 2 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427805&page=132 and the developer himself said
I've moved over to the Android platform now, with an Acer Liquid, so when I've finished things up with my thesis, I'll likely be making programs for it. As such, it's unlikely I'll be adding new features to Gyrator

So I am not sure I want to get used to an app which is no longer supported - I can see a time when next ROM I flash, Gyrator stops working...
I don't understand why autorotate was so easy with MaxManila and almost impossible with everything else? It is very difficult to find answers (try searching for rotate or landscape and you get so many irrelevant results - it's like searching google for "and").
Surely I can't be the only person visiting this forum who has satnav working in landscape while in the car?
the newest gyrator version has a general rotation implemented, meaning, it will turn the display in ANY program by default, the only thing, you'd need to set up are programs, that you don't want to turn, like phone or coreplayer...
Thank you. The latest version on his site I can find is Version 2008.12.10 r1 - is that the one you mean?
I do need the dialler to rotate also, because if the Touch HD is landscape in the car and the phone rings....
yepp, that's the one. at the very top of this page: http://gyrator.brins0.net/?page=downloads
