Can the notification LED color be changed?

Green and yellow almost look the same to me (maybe I am color blind) but I would like my notification LED to blink RED and not yellow when notifications are waiting. Anyone know if there is a way to change this in the registry?

I wanted the same thing. Actually I wanted the BLUE LED ( Bluetooth ) to blink for SMS/MMS and the RED for Notifications/Missed Calls.
But I never got an answer - so I guess no one has figured it out (yet)

Flashy light upon received msg?

Back in the day I had a Samsung SGH-S300 flap phone which had a led light on the cover which could blink in like 8 different colours.
Now if I had an unread text msg it would blink blue every couple of seconds untill I answer it. Red would be for calls.. And the interval was nice every 2 seconds or so.
Any software that would do the same for the Touch Pro 2? Make the led light on top to blink? Really doesn't need any more functions than that.

You can't make it flash different colors. But the TP2 offers flashing by default if you select it in the sound settings.

Can someone check something on SMS POPUP for me please?

I've had my Hero about, well, 48 hours. Previously I had the Magic until I lost it
Anyway I used the SMS POPUP app on my Magic and you were able to change the colour of the LED flash for when a new text was received. I would change it to say blue on my Magic, so then the LED would flash blue for a new sms and green which was default for emails.
Now I'm on the Hero, installed SMS POPUP and even when I select to change the LED colour to blue, red, orange whatever, test it and it just always flashes green.
I tried another app called MISSED REMINDER and even when i tried to change LED colours with that it would only always flash green.
I think the LEDs do work correctly as it goes orange while charging and then turns green when charged.
Basically can someone check to see if they can change the LED colour in SMS POPUP?

Thanks, I was looking around some reviews and I have seen a few times where it says the LED can only change between green and orange. Seems weird that the Magic could handle multiple colours yet the Hero cannot.

I remember seeing it flash blue and even red. Dont know how or why but I am pretty sure I saw it.

orange and green is all i've seen

Orange = charging
Red = Battery beneath 15%
Green = Fully charged
Blinking green = E-mail in your gmail account. (or a peep update)
For sms only the trackball blinks (white) it also does that when recieving a pop3 mail (for example your providersmail.
I don't know how to get a blue led though

If you're unlucky you're likely to join the bunch of us that the LED's and the headphone jack stops working for.

Yeah have started reading about this.
Hopefully I'll be lucky though, haven't even had the phone 3 days.
The lights do work fine (orange and green and red), it's just on the Magic when using the SMS Popup app you could change the colour of the LED flash for when receiving a txt. Where as on this phone it's always green regardless of what colour I select from within SMS Popup.
Headphones still working, phone would be going straight back if that clonked out!

Dual LEDs on Hero - CDMA

I have a CDMA Hero from sprint in the US and am wondering if it has dual LED notification lights. I have read in lots of places that it does but am wondering if it actually has dual LED since my notifications only light up the left side. From the dash 3G I remember that the LED on the left was an LED and the one on the right side that looked like an LED was actually the light sensor. I also know that the Hero is supposed to have a light sensor. Just curious, thanks for any help.

I think (I don't have a Hero yet, I'm just going off the online documentation for it), that the trackball acts as the second indicator "LED", but there isn't one on the right side of the earpiece, only the left. The trackball flashes when you have an incoming call or a notification.

sounds like it's the other way round from the GSM one then...the GSM has the LED on the right and the light sensor on the left.

I also have a sprint hero. The left led is the only one that flashes. It doesn't change color either. And the track ball does light up if u turn it on in the settings. As for the second led on the top right, it is definitely the light sensor. U can test it for yourself by putting your finger over it, and watch the screen dim.....

the one on the right is the light sensor.. cover it and it goes dim.

The LED on the left will change color and flashing pattern depending on your battery life and whether you have notifications or not. No notifications, no light (at least from what I've seen). If you're low on battery, the light goes yellow, and if you're within the 10-15 min boundary or less for battery life, light blinks red.

Thanks for all your help and I didnt realize that I had auto backlight disabled must have done that the first day I was messing with it all, I see now how the sensor reacts to having a finger over it. I would have enjoyed dual LEDs up top but oh well. Any way to customize the color of notifications, tried the handcent but it doesnt affect the LED at all or the trackball light for that matter. Going to try missed call or sms popup later to see if I can get some better results.

where in the settings can you turn the trackball on to flash? I cant find it anywhere except on Handcent app. Still doesnt flash though on mine for text

I read somewhere the flashing trackball doesn't work on our CDMA Hero

That would make sense since I can't seem to get my trackball to flash, what a bummer. Hopefully we can get root or a software fix soon.

T-Mobile DASH 3G Led Indicator Lights
I have a T-Mobile Dash 3G. The left LED light is NOT flashing, and I would prefer that it does. I upgraded to WM 6.5 and I think that is what disabled the LED since I have seen videos on youtube where the indicator does flash.
The LED does glow orange and green when i am charging though.

Err I think you may have the wrong forum. This is for the HTC Hero, which runs Android not WM. Why not try starting your own thread in the correct Forum as you are more likely to get an answer there?

Issue with trackball dim color flash when missed call

Okay, so there are a lot of pieces involved, but I think enough other people are running the same configuration....
CM 5.0.4.1
Trackball colors by ChainsDD (2/25 ver. before update to CM 5.0.4.1)
Succession Mod for trackball notifications by metalhead8816 (applied after CM5.0.4.1)
When I get a missed call, it will flash light blue or cyan. But what happens is that the bright light blue LED flashes, and then a dim version flashes. It almost seems like another notification, but it does it whenever a missed call notification is fired. I have not seen any LED at low brightness, but this one looks like 25%.
I'm guessing the succession mod? Can someone else test this?

strange, it never occurred to me (or it never happened before) but was reading the trackball thread and saw your remark. this evening by chance I saw the dim blue light as well (only a mail led was fired) by the way I haven't yet installed the notifs in succession file. I'm running cyanogen, and installed the trackball color notif 1.0 b3

i've seen something weird like this before, and it does seem to happen for missed calls. will check it out when i get home.
