can i flash it? - P3300, MDA Compact III upgrading etc.

hi all
I have a o2 orbit that i cannot get to do a uspl fix, i have tried prof's method and another method, i have also tried it in an xp and vista machine only the get the rom fail (& i have tried different roms too) I have also tried clearing the memory.
i have just found out that my xda will accept other sim cards so i'm guessing that it is only sim u/l & not cid u/l or am i missing something?
any clues would be great, flashing my old xda mini s was never this challenging
IPL 3.04.0001
SPL3.04.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 3.4.00

cid unlock is security on the phone stopping you from flashing..
download the cid unlock again and find these two files and install them on your phone.
EnableRapi
Cert_SPCS
if you flashing with ''uspl'' 1.11.0000 you will get to 3% + error on some roms..
but if you update spl with ''USPL CMON'' - you can flash the p3300 rom, no matter the size.. 1.11.cmon (recomended)

thanks for the reply.
the problem i have is that the dos window gets to 70% & then active sync disconnects. i am putting the cert spcs & enale rapi files in the device folder & have tried opening them 1st & leaving them alone. am i putting them in th right place? or am i missing a step here? should i be in boot mode for this, o got the impression not from the manual
thanks

ok, getting closer, disable my av & firewall. got to the stage where it tried to load the cmon rom, it flew to 100% & then said it was a corrupt file?? any ideas anyone

...
just DONT try to install any rom untill you flash ''uspl cmon''!
you might brick the O2xdaOrbit/p3300!!
sorry i was brief before..ill help you out with some cool .cabs when you have uspl cmon and new WMrom flashed.
just repeat the steps untill it works.
* uninstall activesync and reinstall it..
* hard reset the device..
*** put the two cab files on your device again an run them.
- i did this and then it worked for me.
* get activesync connection
* run dos window
*** think i did soft reset after 100% to get activesync connection.
- only when the uspl cmon rom update utility window opened on pc..
- not sure..
* uspl cmon rom update utility.
***ONLY after doing uspl is it safe to flash a rom.
- '' (& i have tried different roms too) '' - dont!lol
* if you have an SD card in the device, take it out..
just keep trying, take sim out too if you want..
it might just decide to work.lol
when you have done uspl on your device startup you will see..
SPL: 1.11.cmon
* its done.
* only when you have that SPL on your device startup i suggest you download the rom im using.. its like the one your using atm but faster and looks cool, all links ive mentioned below...

he flashed uspl cmon..

thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed method, i appreciate it. sorry i should have been clearer, it was the uspl cmon rom update utility that was coming up as corrupt, not a full rom
Just one question though, does it matter where i put the 2 cab files & should i open them or will flashing ''uspl cmon'' open them itself? (lol, that might have been two questions)
still, i will try this later once i have kicked my daughter off the laptop.

btw as far as i know, CID unlocking is not a security to prevent you from flashing another rom on your mobile phone..
CID unlock is to make your phone sim-free.. to put any sim in your phone..

T-Mobile Wing Flashing

Hello everyone. I'm new to the website and I'm very interested in flashing my T-Mobile Wing. I just have a quick question for you guys. Is there anyway to go back to factory default, pretty much put in back to its original out of the box state if i flash the phone? Also, will i still be able to use the My Faves or does that have nothing to do with this? Thanks for all the help and i look forward to learning more about this.
Gigabit
Yes. You can download a T-Mobile Wing OEM RUU (search the forums for it) to get back to normal.
My Faves doesn't need the MyFaves app. I used MyFaves for about a year on my non-MyFaves Moto PEBL before getting the Wing. I just use Touch-IT 4.4 with the HTCHome plugin and just assign my myfaves numbers to the first 5 slots so 'simulate' the ease. I've always thought the MyFaves app was rather buggy, but there's a CAB floating around that you can install if you still want it. I just change my contacts via mytmobile online.
It's not too hard as long as you follow all the directions. Read them twice through if you have to.
thanks for the quick response. I just have one other question at this point. i've been look all over the place and cant seem to find what the newest version of Touch-It is. Can you please post a link to the newest version when every you have some time. I can't wait to get started.
Thanks!
Gig
These are the newest versions of Touch-IT.
NEW - Touch-IT v6.1.3 - Clean (updated with UC)
Touch-IT wm6.1 19199.1.0.0 - Full
Touch-IT wm6.1 19199.1.0.0 - ITsBlack
Touch-IT v4.4 and 4.41 WWE P4350
There was a small problem with the wm6.1 versions where the MMS wasn't working correctly, and I'm not sure if that has been fixed... but ITJE's roms are awesome and you can't go wrong with them.
You'll need to install my keyboard fix
KEYBOARD FIX for WING / HERALD & ROM hardware keyboard (keybddr.dll) mismatch
First off, Thank you so much for the fast responsces. Second, after a nice LONG day at the hospital with my daughter i sat down to start the flashing process. As i started reading some of the directions i saw something mentioned about Hard-SPL. My question to you guys is this: once i download the Touch version that i want, is that all i need? or do i need to look more into this and find Hard-SPL. please let me know whenever you have some time.
Thank You,
Gig
All you need to do is follow this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358225
HARDSPL is basically just flashing a rom.. so once youre done with it, all you have to do is install the Rom you want.
ok so, when i run Hard-SPL it starts to do its thing but stops at 4% and comes up with Update Error "Error 270". I've tried re-downloading the Hard-SPL file and uninstalled/reinstalled ActiveSync. I also installed all the .cab files in this order: canonyang, disablesecurity, asergpolicy, followed by a softrest. any ideas what the problem might be. Please let me know when you have some time. Thanks for all the help guys.
Gig
Try restoring back to the default ROM that comes from the factory by downloading it from the first post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321717
After that then try flashing with hard-spl and then to the new TouchIt.
By the way I recommend
Touch-IT wm6.1 19199.1.0.0 - Full
I have a T-mobile wing and that one works best for me. (of course you will have to run the keyboard fix cab and x-box cab as indicated in the previous posts after installing Touch-IT wm6)
i have yet to flash any ROM to the wing. it is still factory default. Should i still try to reinstall the new ROM using the link you provided? Thanks for all your help.
edit: after backing up all my crap i reinstalled the ROM using the RUU from the above post and everything went OK but I'm still getting the same Error when i try to run the Hard-SPL while in the bootloader screen i get "Error 270" at about the 2% mark. if i try to run the Hard-SPL while not in the bootloader screen i get "Error 202". please let me know if you have any other advice to get past this small issue.
Thanks,
Gig

Are you sure you ran the 3 cab files first (inside of the Wing with your stylus) and then did the softreset on your Wing (by pressing the little button on the side of your wing with the tip of your stylus) prior to running the ROM exe file (on your large desktop PC)?
The 3 cabs should be run in the order that is given.
yes, after i installed the 3 .cab files i did a soft reset. I held the camera button and pushed in the reset button with the stylus. then once i was in the screen with the different colors i ran Hard-SPL from my desktop computer.
edit:
after reading what i was typing i tried it again and it worked. just call me stupid. SOFT REST! those two words will hunt me forever. Thanks for all your help. not its time to start blowing crap up. lol
Thanks a bunch
Gig
If I remember the instructions, you're supposed to run the hardspl when the phone is running WM.... so basically, install the 3 cabs, reset, wait for it to reach your today screen... connect to activesync, then run hardspl.
that is correct sir. Thats how i was reading it but then doing it a different way. i dunno what i was thinking. Thank you so much for all your help. i have successfully installed Hard-SPL and Touch 4.4 full. I also over clocked from 201 to 247 with no issues. Applied your keyboard fix and the mms fix along with the Internet fix. all is working perfect. thanks again for all the help. i'll definitely will be browsing the sit more to see what else i can learn.
Thanks,

Flashing my Blackstone

I'm new to the whole PDA / Smartphone concept so forgive me if I sound stupid.
I have flashed my Blackstone using HardSPLWrapper which puts the current ROM on 1.14 OliNex. Now, I want to install a new ROM (this incase you wondered)
However, Im at a complete loss as to how to do it, Ive read the guides but theyre making no sense to me.
Would anyone be able to point me to a dumbed down version of the guide or even be kind enough to write out a step-by-step guide for me?
Thanks in advance!

P800 rom flashing problem

I have an unbranded Chinese P800 from eBay and would like to upgrade it to WM 6.0. What I have onboard :
1. WM 5.0 OS 5.1.525 (Build 15364.3.4.4)
2. Processor ARM926T OMAP730
However, one perculiar thing is that I can't find any Device Info on IPL, SPL, Radio ROM etc. I've tried using WST 4.2.2 but to no avail. I'm using my Lenovo S10 Netbook running XP and ASync 4.5. What I've managed to do are :
1. Run USPL, it goes from 0.. to 60.. and hangs, I reset my P800, USPL resumes to 70..100 and the RUU program starts,
2. the screen on my P800 turns dark with the Linux Penguin and some message of mapping, preloader etc comes on temporarily before Windows comes on again,
3. RUU runs, upgrading to image 9.99 (original image is blank-no info), when UPDATE ROM IMAGE ON YOUR PDA PHONE comes on it never gets to more than 0% (no blue progress bar), my P800 screen goes dark, loses connection and I get ERROR(260).
I have done this several times and there is no way I can verify if the CID is unlocked as I can't get the SPL info anywhere. So I will appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.

Hi mouse.co.nr,
Many thanks for your reply and pointing to the right direction. I'll get to it asap and post the outcome (success I hope!)
Hi Salimbs,
just another note,
in the past I found myself in big trouble (not with Himalaya as it was SD flashed) but with Charmer and Magician ROM updates, also with ROMs that I have already used in the past and classified as stable,
Roms used to get blocked during upgrade leaving me in Boot mode if I don't remember bad..
I have noticed that this error was common when Ms. Office applications like for sxample Word or Excel was turned on!
it makes like a kind of disturb to the rom!
once closed (all office and not necessary applications) roms updates smooth and bug free!
Don't remember if it was an Err 260 or not, I just remember that update blocked at a certain point...
try to do your upgrades with office turned off!
wish it will help to solve your problem

Hi mouse.co.nr,
Well noted and I'll keep this in mind. From your experience have you ever tried the SDHC.cab so that your phone can read the micro SDHC? I ran it in my phone and now my STORAGE CARD is gone! Anyway, thanks again. Cheers!
Not SDHC my friend but Artemis SDHC,
I don't know what is exactly the difference, maybe one is for big SD and the other is for MicroSD, anyway I've tried the one for artemis and now I'm working with a 8 GB micro sd, and it can go till 16 GB.
I've tried that with other artemis ROM versions and works very good...
For your problem have a look at this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=345038;
and download the programs indicated below...
What I advice you to do is the following:
1) remove your SDHC card (it have a sort of bad luck with any upgrade that needs a reboot)
2) copy SDHC_Artemis_back2original.cab to your documents folder (PPC documents obviously) then run it, soft reset.
3) then copy the correct SD HC for artemis "SDHC-Artemis.cab ", in the same way of the above and run it.
this shuld work "I wish for you"
let me know..
how about the ROM update? did you succeed at the end?
have you also updated also GSM radio ROM? generally original roms come with a 2.11.... version, old and not always good in reception!
I advice to change it in 03.18.90 shall work well also with your provider, for GSM signal WIFI, GPRS and GPS..
have a look at this post for more details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397939

Hi Mouse,
Thanks to you my STORAGE CARD problem is solved! However with regards to my ROM update I'm still a little confused.I've managed to patch the artemis_jumpSPL_pof_v1.nb using Kermit the Frog(jumpSPL.exe). After that I run the RUU again but I still get the same result-0%Can you tell me how or show me the relevant threads?
Hello Salimbs,
Kermit sounds funny but it's the first time I don't know how does it work!!
try the ufficial SPL unlocker for artemis, nothing more,

* Run start_uspl.exe from the Artemis_USPL package in the link above,
* Run till it reachs 100% and Dos Window turns off alone, and launches RUU upgrade interface..yes, yes, continue, continue.... 100%
* After device shall have SPL 1.11 and so you can load new ROMs
let me know if it will solve the problem..

Hi mouse,
Actually "Kermit the Frog" is the icon for JumpSPL.exe. Anyway, like I've mentioned in my first post everything seems OK except that I can't check for the SPL and when the RUU runs it never gets to more than 0% and then I lose connection and get ERROR 260. I'll be trying again and let you know of the outcome. Once again, thank you, I really appreciate your help!

I'm afraid that I've not met with any success after trying all the combination and tricks mentioned in this thread. Every time at the part of the RUU flashing it never goes beyond 0% then I lose connection and get ERROR 260. I would appreciate any help I can get, and thank you in advance.

Tutorial for applying rom to pharos

guyz,
plz help me out...
someone please provide me tutorial for applying roms to my pharos,
i m from india can i apply any rom?
i read in this forum

My HTC Pharos 3470 is HardSPL now ... w000t !!! %)
Did it from the first time ... thanks to Suracha and the reading of this whole thread ... (my spl was SPL 1.11.0001)
Here are some basic notes for those who are still stuck
1. Set Button 3 (Camera) to <None>.
2. Transfer the extracted files (JumpSPL.exe & Pharos_JumpSPL.nb) to your device and execute.
3. Change 0x00000000 to 0x10000000 as Jump Address.
4. After geting the file list, press Camera first; then press Power. This is little difficult, if you pressed Power too long; you device may be turn off.
5. Tap the Pharos_JumpSPL.nb file, it must be tabbed while Camera & Power button are pressed.
6. After above, you should get grey background screen.
7. On ur pc quickly ( means make usb connection ) double click the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the HardSPL dirrectory, and follow through the flashing process (what steps in flashing process?)
several question from me.
1) are this steps right?
2) what to do when get Grey background?
3) should i have to remove memory card and sim card?
4) did i have to backup my og rom? but how?
plz correct me >>>
I m also searching for the working tutorial to flash a rom in a safe way and avoid any damage to the phone! So can anybody help me???
Both of you are on the right path. The steps listed are definitely correct. Flash HardSPL files once using the below method first if you are not concerned over the warranty. Then you can flash any ROM you like from the Forum as many times you require. Incidentally the HardSPL for it doesnt seem to be permanent in my Pharos. I was experimenting with some ROM's and then flashed back to Original 6.1 ROM from HTC and voila it was back to original HTC SPL. Now I have to use Suracha's method or HardSPL again to replace the ROM as its back to the restricted SPL.
hey i recently got a htc pharos i wanna put android on this or the manila rom can someone email me links mactvsinist

Where can I find the Original 6.1 ROM from HTC for P 3470 and can the radio, ROM & SPL of my WM6 phone be upgraded without Jump/Hard SPL, if I update with this original ROM.The Current specs are:
ROM - 1.11.707.1 (Dt. 29/01/2008)
Radio- 03.15.90
Protocol Version - 4.1.13.59

How to flash htc diamond 2 ?

Can someone put some instructions how to flash our diamond 2 ?
Please help.
Me too!
I've also been reading through a lot of material from xda but aren't confident enough to jump into messing with my diamond2 just yet.
A tutorial/guide would be a big help if someone has the time.
Cheers
Have finally just gotten around to flashing my Diamond 2 for the first time (used to flash my Orbit all the time). And it really is a piece of cake.
1st..... you MUST flash the HardSPL Unlocker to your phone. You can get it in THIS THREAD. It's at the foot of post #1. Also, READ the first two posts of that thread so that you make no mistakes. But in a nutshell:
Download and unzip the Unlocker file;
Sync your phone to the PC;
Run the HardSPL Unlocker from your PC; (Sync connection may be lost at this point so if your PC says new USB device found, say yes to establishing a new connection)
When the flash is complete, your phone will re-boot;
To confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 1.83.OliNex, which is the Hard-SPL version.
With that done, you are now ready to flash the ROM to your phone. Easiest and safest way is Bootloader method which is best described by duttythroy. So download the ROM you want to try, unzip it and if it's not already so named change the name of it to TOPAIMG.NBH. Copy that file to an empty SD and place the card in your phone and follow the instructions below:

SAFEST WAY TO FLASH YOUR ROM IS THROUGH STORAGE CARD METHOD:
* Copy TOPAIMG.NBH into the root dir of your Storage Card.
* Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
* Turn off your device by using the Power Button.
* Go to Boot loader mode. Push and hold Vol. Down + press Power button.
* After that your device with have a white screen with text " Press to power button for continue upgrade or Press Volume down button for cancel upgrade , select press to power button and it will start upgrade Rom.

Click to collapse
When the flash is complete do a soft reset and away you go!
It really is that simple
2 Questions:
- My htc diamond 2 is a free phone, not a operator phone (locked). I have to apply the HardSPL Unlocker ? What for?
- The bootloader method works on a htc original 6.5 rom ? I have to rename the file rom becasuse this is a .exe file?
orry for this questions but i don´t want make mistakes.
Thanks to all.
Hi again,
Not too sure about a free phone needing HardSPL, try searching that thread for more info.
As for renaming the ROM to TOPAIMG.NBH, that is so the bootloader knows that it is an Image to install. All ROMs (to my knowledge) are .NBH files so an .exe file would be of no use.
