Hi all!
I have a problem with my HD2, that it won't lock after ending the call which I received while it was locked.
I'm aware there are threads about this, but none has a definite solution. So I contacted HTC support, and they told me to flash newest ROM. Before I do that, I want to check with you will it really help.
So please, try following procedure, and tell me your results:
1. Lock the phone.
2. Have someone call you.
3. Phone should unlock, allowing you to answer.
4. Answer.
5. End call (doesn't matter if it's hardware button, red end button, or caller hangs up)
6. What happens now? Is your phone locked (as it should be according to manual and common sense) or is home screen shown, and phone is not locked.
Thank you. Please also state your ROM.
Followed your steps. It really doesn't relock the phone o.o.
I'm on Dutty's 1.8

I have the same issue, tried have used several roms and none lock after hangup. its a pain when using headset and the phone is in my pocket...
Thank you for your replies. It strange how it doesn't bother more people, to me it's almost as big as SMS issue. We should all write to HTC.
being as i don't actualy use the phone for talking to people much i haven't noticed this but yes i totally agree this is bad
it probably doesnt bother many people as all you have to do is press the hang-up hard-key and it locks the screen...
I am running the latest 1.66 WWE standard ROM - same here remains unlocked after call.
I have tried pocketshield which does lock after call BUT it is VERY VERY buggy. It keeps changing settings on its own and at the moment I cannot access the keypad in a call so I can't use an automated service where you press number - pulling my hair out.
I have tried Dutty, Miri and Leo Lite Roms - they don't address the issue.
This is a major problem for me - never occurred with my HD (blackstone) so why has HTC introduced this and not sorted it????????
I'm using official 1.66 ROM amd the HD2 does not lock after a call, especially bothers me as I use Bluetooth pretty much all the time. resorted to using touch lock pro and lockandoff. setup touch lock pro to use tapi, and also to run lockandoff on hangup.

The keypad issue is resolved in the newest beta 3.2.9 (http://forums.jdbp.mobi/phorum/read.php?3,7368). This version also allows to "auto unlock" by using the proximity sensor which is very handy on the HD2.
About changing settings on its own... no idea, never happened to me
do you know if there is a registry string to make sure to lock the phone immediately after a call is from the screen or hardware button?
Thanks
A very simple solution (although a bit boring in time) is to use a password to unlock your phone. If a password has been used, the phone locks right after a call ends.
I know it's not the funniest thing, having to enter a password each time you want to unlock your phone, but hey, it does the trick!
And yes, it really is bad! Much cheaper and less sophisticated devices do that... Pfff...
both s2u2 and pocketshield have this ability. s2u2 is free, but pocketshield can be had for about 7.50. Much more functional than the stock lockscreens.
pocketshield I tried but I hate the screen because it hides the taskbar, possible that there is a registry string?
I downloaded S2U2 and tried it. Looks like a nice app at first, but:
a) It removes the "mute ringer" button when receiving a call. You may not see the exact same message, cause I'm translating from Greek, but I am talking about the gray button under the answer/reject slider.
b) It removes the "silent when I pick up" option. Again translation from Greek, I am talking about the option to turn down the ringer when you lift the phone.
c) After the application is removed (eventually, I couldn't live without the two forementioned features), I had the same problem I had before, the phone wouldn't lock with the "power" button, nor would it lock after some time of inactivity.
Code:
showpost.php?p=8029180&postcount=14
I had to hard-reset it once again...
Such a shame...

looks like you got a virus ....
that was my first thought, but i set up a new rom last week and i have the same problem agian with the new one rom. So that's why i'm not sure that it's a virus.

You probably should give a little more detail of the problem in order to get better help. Does it make the call to same person every time? Does it make the call on certain intervals? Are you using any particular programs when it happens? etc., etc. It's kind of like taking your car to a mechanic and saying..."The car won't start."
You say u used a new ROM and got the same problem..
But did u format the 4bg Internal Storage too (Boot manager asks to format the device storage or the internal storage too, don't know the correct spelling). This is while flashing new ROM.
Maybe a virus is on your 4gb internal storage and keeps installing himself.

It makes calls at the last outgoing number. I used to use the S2U2 program to lock my device in order not to push any button when i have it in my pants. sorry for my bad english, but i'm very dissapointed with my new diamond so that i'm thinking to sell it
the same thing happens with my diamond. i lock the phone by holding the hang up key, turn off the screen using the power button and use sensorlock to lock again, still, somehow, the phone will make calls to the last person in my call list. the only things i have added to the standard factory handset are:
1.93 rom from the orange.co.uk website,
diamond VRHologram 2.02,
sensorlock 0.40,
gyrator
and one mp4 format movie.
very frustrated. does anyone know what might be causing this problem? i´ve found that sensorlock can be bypassed ( i.e. screen unlocked ) by small movements rather than the full 360° turn which is supposed to be required, but the built in screen lock ( set to locking both hardware and screen buttons ) should still stop my handset from making calls.
also, sometimes, rather than make a call, i will unlock my phone to find the callender program launched, though tbh i think this was while i was only using sensorlock to lock the phone and may have been a result of my finger/palm touching the screen during the rotation gesture.
sorry for the long post, just trying to convey my situation as clearly as possible. if anybody has any solutions or ideas please reply or even pm me, i dont feel confident putting my diamond away because i never know what it´l do by itself, and its really peeing me off!
thankyou very much in advance

Guys, I'm kind and considerate, you're asking in the wrong forum, you should really be in the >Diamond>Diamond forum *and* you should be searching for the answer first.
Some people can be a little 'short' with new posters if you post without searching
Anyway, (as I'm kind and considerate) it's very unlikely to be a virus, it's more likely that your Diamond is turning on in your pocket and redialling your last dialled number, there are loads of threads about this, try searching for answerkeys disabler, what was wrong with S2U2 didn't that solve the problem.

I have a sprint cdma diamond. I have to turn off the screen during the call because my face will hit a button and do silly things. NOW even with screen off I will be in mid call and my diamond will dial a number on my other line. Think this is a hardware bug IMO happens at least 3 times a week
Headphones?
Just a thought ...
I find the button on the standard headphones very easy to knock and initiate last number dialling, could this be your cause?
If using the radio, I switched back to my old Jasjam headpones - WITH a volume control Otherwise the bluetoooth Motorola HT820's are good value.
It would be good if a warning came up first before it dialed out.
Hello,
when I do a call on my HD and put the touchscreen out, the device isn´t looked. Badly sometimes I touch the some of the four buttons at the device especially when the HD is in the pocket. So the device is hanging the call up or do something like "hold the line".
Is it possible to protect the device so that this could never happen? Its very stupied when you do a call and suddenly the call is gone because you press by mistake the button.
I hope you could help me with my question.

Did you mean that you do a call over the headset and leave your HD in the pocket?
Yes I do... i make a call over my headset and out it in the pocket back
I just read this post (regarding the Touch Pro / Raphael). I don't know if it helps or if it applies to the HD as well. See the second entry there by aussieak. I don't quite understand what he is saying - but maybe it's because I'm a newbie at this.
Let us know if it helps. I'm sure more people would be interested in finding a solution to this.
EDIT: I just searched Google and found this other post in a Sprint forum. It is about the HTC Touch (not the HD), but apparently pressing the power button at the top in that case should indeed turn off the screen without powering off the phone. Others suggested using third-party software like S2U2, which apparently can be set to lock the screen when a call is answered. This YouTube Video shows the settings screen (at 39 seconds into it, you see the "Blank screen on talk" option). Some people wrote that it works great for them and others say that it is not 100% reliable. Others suggested this program - but unlike S2U2, it is not free. It costs about 13 dollars.
So, I have PocketShield installed and it's set to slide or light unlock and answer. Quite often when I get a call it takes so long to unlock and answer, the person is gone...
There are maybe a few options -
1) I've installed and uninstalled so much stuff, maybe I need to start fresh? I have noticed the HD is a little 'laggy' now. Should I hard reset and install things back on slowely, testing it's responsiveness as I go?
2) Maybe I should switch to S2U2? I used this for a long time on my Kaiser, but have been concerned by everyone saying it drains battery power.
3) Do I need a screen lock program? The device only wakes up on a phone call and now you have a slide to answer/ignore anyway. Do the hardware keys do anything at this point? Am I safe to carry it round in my case without a screen lock?
Does anyone else suffer from this, or just me?
Thanks for any help/advice in advance.
Having the same issue. Sometimes my slide option simply doesn't work first few attempts. My solution is to use the "answer call" key beneath the main screen until this gets resolved.
S2U2 works like a charm on the HD and it doesn't draw additional battery as far as I have seen over the past few days.
When u have a call, u don't need to slide so you unlock the device then accept/reject the call.
Depends on what you have set, you can either have the original accepting/rejecting HTC screen poping up to take/reject your calls,
or you can set it so u have a new slider appearing on the wallpaper of S2U2 to accept/reject the calls
Try it, you won't regret it guys.
Well, yesterday I hard reset my HD and installed just the stuff I wanted. I've gone back to S2U2 and everything seems much much better so far. The only annoying thing is sometimes the phone wakes in landscape mode still, even though it's set to not rotate in Gyrator (and doesn't when it's woken, it stays in whatever it is in.)
Whats the difference between S2U2 and the phones default slide to answer phone ?
In other words, why install S2U2?
Its a very well presented Screen Lock, that's why. The question is just how to go from that to answering a call...
Id I have S2U2 installed, and a call comes in on my HD, what happens? does s2u2 take over from the default "slide to answer" system?
Yes it does. I think the problem I had was it wasn't doing that properly before hand. They were obviously conflicting with each other and I was struggling to answer calls.

Well S2U2 will lock your phone screen and buttons so you do not start by mistake an application or a phone call when the device is in your pocket.
Even if by mistake u click on the power on button, ur device is still locked until u unlock it using a slider like on the i-phone.
It allows u to display a wallpaper of your choice, different then the one on your today screen or in TF3D. It allows u to display clock date, network signal, tasks, missed calls, SMS, etc ...
Try it, it's free and very nicely designed
I tried to use S2U2 and found that just like every other locker it is behaving wrongly after a call - it leaves the device unlocked! So if I listen to music and get a phone call I'll have to pull it out of the pocket to lock again. There is a silly option to lock after each call of course, but this is just stupid - I just want the device to stay locked until I unlock it - how difficult is this?
Funnily, the only locker behaving properly is the stock Windows one, but it has a backlight bug and switches the device to Home screen.
It's just amazing how nobody can do such a basic function right.

Just tried it few seconds before posting, called myself from the office phone, answered the call using the slider is S2U2, the screen turned off, I ended the call by pressing on the end call button on my HTC touch HD, and the S2U2 screen lock was there, the device was still locked.
It works perfectly with the touch HD.
hello xda community
i'm very new to the blackstone and this is my first post here. so please bear with me if i'm asking very basic questions here.
my problem:
i carry my blackstone in my pocket all the time. and many people told me throughout the last days that they called me and that i picked up the call by accident.
since i work at customer sites mostly my phone is muted. so people call me and somehow i pickup the calls while the phone is in my pocket.
i always turn of the screen and i have the automatic lock (password protection) enabled. still when the incoming call screen comes up it looks like it is possible that calls are being picked up.
i know there is the slide which has to be moved to the left in order to pickup calls.
i have tried myself by calling my from my home phone and touching the screen and the buttons at random. and indeed the calls are being picked up. i was not able to find out how this is happening ... but it does.
so is there any setting i can change or any additional piece of software i can install to make sure calls are only answered when i want?
possible a reg key i need to change?
any help is very much appreciated
cheers
This isn't just a problem with the Blackstone; every WM phone I have had does this. I have found that a good locking program handles this quie well. I personally like S2U2 by A_C, but there are many others available. You can look in the apps forum, or check the development & hacking forum from the main menu.
The other thing to check is that you have all your notifcations set properly. I set all of mine to vibrate only. Many of them turn on the screen by default. Unfortunately this won't fix the problem on its' own though.
mwelch16 ... thank you very much for the reply
i will give it a try and see how it works for me.
so that means first of all i will have to slide that iphone type of lock and then take the call by using the regular slider?
is there any other way (without) an additional piece of software to handle this? cause after all there is the build in slider ... but somehow it's not working as it is supposed to. any enhancement to that?
thanks again
Is there a way how to disable the CALL PICKUP button which is on the left? so the first of the four buttons?
I think it's because it getting pressed while my phone is in the pocket.
thanks a lot
I use Pocket Shield - it's not free (free to try though) but it's worked well for me

No, S2U2 will unlock itself for a phone call and then lock the phone again after the call. So no need to slide to unlock and then answer your phone. It has a bunch of different settings, and yes I believe it locks the hard buttons.
thanks folks for the replies
i found all the settings i was looking for in the S2U2 options. so i'm good right now.
thanks again
You're probably answering the call by pressing the "phone" button (the very left of the four buttons on the bottom). You can either use those buttons to answer/hang up, or the on screen slider.
I've used AE Button Plus to disable the 'Answer' and 'End' hardware keys and re-mapped them to turn wifi and bluetooth off and on. This way there is no chance of hanging up on a call by mistake since you need to use the slide to answer on screen.
Similar but opposite problem
I'm having a problem along the same lines. If I get a call when the phone is in my pocket and answer it on my bluetooth headset, when the call ends the phone then rings someone else, usually the same person who is at the top of my contacts list. Not only is this damned annoying for me, it's getting a bit tedious for the person getting the unwanted calls.
Is there any way to get the phone to immediately lock as soon as a call terminates to prevent this happening? I'm assuming that once the call ends and it returns to the default contact/dial pad screen, the merest brush against the screen will be enough to start a new call.
I'm beginning to think I should have stuck with my iPhone

I've the exact same problem, 3/4 of the incoming calls rejected when I get the phone out of my pocket due to End button accidentally pressed.
What did they thought when they implement the slide to answer ????
The purpose of the slide to answer is to avoid such accident, but why the hell did they keep the Answer / End buttons active ????? total non sense to me.
Will check if this AE Button + app can solve this annoying behaviour.
has anyone tried Lockmelite?
It may help - haven't used it myself though.
x 2 for PocketShield. It uses the light sensor in your phone to prevent the touchscreen from activating when the device is inside, say, a pouch, or in your pocket.
I'm using evaluation version 2.6.2.10, which as I understand it, has full functionality, except that every now and then, randomly (and IMO infrequently enough to not be annoying) before unlocking it displays a 10 second message saying that you're using an evaluation version. Note that this *never* happens during an incoming phone call. Good stuff.
Hi,
Try TouchLockPro :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215
Now it handle light unlock in any cases, that as solved all my issues (pocket, in cas BT,...) and fulfill all my requirements.
BR
Pocket Shield doing perfect job for me
I use AE Buttons Plus to disable the "Answer" & "End" virtual buttons. Then I used iconsoft Phonext to handle all my calling functionalities. When a call comes in, Phonext display a lock screen which you have to slide before it presents you with all the options like answer, decline, silence etc.
This way, I never accidentally pickup a call or dial a number.
I'm using the latest version of Pocketshield and when I get a call come in on my Leo I slide down on the Pocketshield screen to answer only to find the horizontal HTC slider in the background requiring that to be used too for the call to be answered. Now I really have no desire to turn off the HTC dialler and have to use the default Windows Mobile one as it looks frankly dire. So is there a way to have the Pocketshield slider answer a call without having to disable HTC's dialler in the settings?
Cheers.
Solved, just need to select the Phone tab and tick slide to answer. Seems obvious now.
I have just deleted pocketshield from my Leo. It stopped me being able to use the bluetooth in my car despite the settings showing bluetooth as being able to work normally - it either did nothing when I pressed answer on the car or the car thought it was connected ( and started call timer) whilst it actually wasn't.
Also when taking a call on the phone it would sometimes fail to respond to slide to answer (but sometimes did) and often when it failed to answer properly it locked the phone to a blank screen and I had to remove the battery.
I found it very buggy - even at £10 it was a waste of money. If it is relevant, my Leo (HD2) is on UK O2 network and the phone is on original ROM.
1st software I have bought too - damn, that will teach me.

Yes, I also keep the default HTC dialer than WM default and select PocketShield slide to answer setting. HTC dialer will display soon after I slide the PocketShield bar to answer the incoming call but no need to slide the HTC slide answer bar. They just work fine but a little bit aweful. This is why PocketShield already mentioned in the setting page to better choose WM skin.

As well works fine on my HD2 (used with 1.48 and 1.66 ROMs and with a couple of cooked). Must be something wrong with your installation. Why don't you contact them for support?

I use HD2/Pocketshield with my Garmin nuvi bluetooth.
I can answer from nuvi if i am using :
WM dialer OR
HTC dialer without "slide to answer"
But the call is not answered if i use HTC dialer with "slide to answer" even if i press "Answer" on nuvi.I have to answer from the phone itself.
But they have already mentioned that there may be some problems with this setting.
No hanging for me yet and i find the software extremely usefull...
