Problem with copying folders Root access - Nexus One General

I'm trying to copy some files from my nexus one to my sdcard.
I am doing ./adb-mac remount
then going in there and cp -r folder to /sdcard/folder
It shows that it's copied and i can see the contents of that folder in the terminal.
When i mount the sdcard on my computer and open it up with finder, the folder is empty.
Any ideas? Thanks.

[Q] Help needed mount img file in ubuntu

I have downloaded a nand androuid build that I am 99% happy with. I do however want to change a couple of things on the build.
I have downloaed and got ubutu up and running on a virtual box. I have then copied the system.img file on to a usb drive and copied it into ubuntu. Location of the file is in stephen which is my logon name.
I have also created a folder called mount which I want to mount the img file to.
I have done this before in ubuntu using ext2 files but I can not get the mount command to work for an img file. Is there an way to mount the img file, remove the files I do not want and then comple a newer smaller img file?
EDIT: logged on as root and moved the system.img and mount folder to main file system folder. Ran command mount -t img /system.img /mount but now getting error unknown filesystem type 'img'
Any help would be appreciated.

Unmount sdcard in memory serttings and install these apps/games in "internal" memory.
"Internal" because it is data.ext2 file that placed on sdcard.

Maybe try from this way, see how its looks in initrd:
Code:
if [ -d $card/AndroidApps ]; then
echo "Install apps"
# create app directory if not found
[ ! -d /data/app ] && mkdir /data/app && chown 1000:1000 /data/app && chmod 0771 /data/app
# copy to temporary directory so we can set owner and permisions ( can't do it on sdcard's fat )
[ ! -d /data/app/tmp_copy_dir/ ] && mkdir /data/app/tmp_copy_dir
cp $card/AndroidApps/* /data/app/tmp_copy_dir
chown -R 1000:1000 /data/app/tmp_copy_dir
# set permisions, 0644 for file, 0755 for directory
find /data/app/tmp_copy_dir/ -type f -exec chmod 0644 {} \;
find /data/app/tmp_copy_dir/ -type d -exec chmod 0755 {} \;
# move apps to app directory
mv -f /data/app/tmp_copy_dir/* /data/app
# cleanup
rm -rf /data/app/tmp_copy_dir
rm -rf $card/AndroidApps
fi
Try:
- make folder "AndroidApps" on your sd card
- coppy all .apk to its folder
- run haret
....
Why i can't edit file intrd.gz
Most say unmount SD card and install it there. Phone Memory in Android is iconic since all files (including .data) are in SD Card (in Windows)!
However even though its iconic, it runs low. Therefore can not install more apps there.
So what I do is:
1. Unmount SD Card and install app.
2. Moun SD Card again!
3. Downloaded App 2 SD (application from market). This app will help you organize your apps and move them to SD Card.
BUT: This only happens in latest realease. 10.7.11
Previous releases say failed to move to SD Card (similar)!
If you have any problems PM me freely.
Be Happy mate!

[Q] directory bind to play game with OTG usb drive

I am facing this issue with my Nexus 7 4.2.1 stock ROM rooted.
I am trying to move game data to a usb flash drive to save space, and then mount bind the directory using an OTG cable.
When I use StickMount I can see the usb drive at /sdcard/usbStorage/sda1 using ES File Explorer.
Then I use Terminal Emulator to mount bind the directory:
[email protected]:/ $ su
[email protected]:/ # mount -o bind /sdcard/usbStorage/sda1/test /sdcard/Android/data/test
These seems to work because if I navigate the directories using Terminal Emulator, I see how the test directory was linked and the data can be seen.
But if I use ES File Explorer to go to the same directory (/sdcard/Android/data/test), folder is empty, and if I try to run the game, it tries to download again because can't see the data in that directory.
So my question is if I can do the directory bind using other source like /data/media, /storage/sdcard0, or /mnt/sdcard instead of just /sdcard to make ES File Explorer and the game to see the data directory?
It is good to verify with Terminal Emulator that the directory bind worked but not good enough to make the game works saving internal storage space.
Thank you.

Directory bind does not work on android 4.2.1!
The above thread has more details, hopefully the developer of directory bind app is looking for a solution!

I don't need to use the app. I can do it just typing the unix/linux commands.

The new file structure in android 4.2.1 is causing problems! The app i believe uses the bind command as well! So it is the bind command that doesn't work properly!
Have you tried using Sy links instead of binding the folder?
Use the following command to symlink
ln -s [source folder] [destination folder] where source and destination are path names
Thank you for the suggestion.
I tried several times on different directories but it didn't work.
I read somewhere that symlink does not work with FAT32. Is this my problem?
The USB flash drive that I am using where I copy the fifa 12 game directory is FAT32.
Do I need to have the usb storage formatted as ext2 or ext4? How can I do that? I am guessing I can't do it on Windows, right?

Try formatting it to ext3..it will delete the data of course so take a backup.on windows use mini tool partition manager...its free and can format to any ext.

[Q] [SOLVED] [4.3] Cannot write to SD card properly?

Hi,
I updated my nexus 7 to from PA 4.2 to PA 4.3, before this I did multiple backups using TWRP, TiB and copied the entire contents of my SD card to my computer using adb (adb push and adb pull) on OS X (android file transfer does not work properly and windows kept on not responding, Linux had no space and no write to my OS X partitions or Windows Drive.
After the update I restored apps from TiB, and copied the data folders for some apps (apex launcher backups etc.), my TWRP folder and TiB folder back to my SD card. (using adb again) Then, with adb, I copied some films to a Media folder on the root of my sdcard, I created the folder with adb but now, with any file manager I can't write to the contents of that folder anymore, or change anything. Then I tried to make another, updated TiB backup, but it said insufficient storage space, even for just one app with well over 5GB of free space. Then I tried to do a TWRP backup using offline nandroid backup, however the backup completed in 0 seconds and made no new file or folder in the TWRP folder on sdcard. I then tried in recovery, the backup completed, but upon further inspection no new files or folders were made.
I think the problem is that any folders I have made through adb have no write permissions, even though mounted rw(x). And I cannot change the permissions. ( in Linux would I be able to cd to the directories on my n7 then sudo chmod 755 them?), I already tried this with mobile terminal however on my N7 and had no result. What is the solution for this problem?, should I wipe sdcard and make folders using a file explorer, then use adb to copy files into the premade folders, or just find a way to use Ubuntu to copy the files?
Thanks!

I have fixed it my self by doing this:
I was originally using the link from solid explorer to view and edit my sdcard files, which uses the /sdcard directory on root. For some reason I could not edit files going through /sdcard made from adb on OS X, however, when navigating internal storage through /data/media/0/ I had full permissions and could delete the folders made through adb, making new TiBu Backups and TWRP backups.
I tried using shell through adb to change permissions and remove the directories using:
Code:
adb shell
su chmod 777 /sdcard/(TWRP/TiBu etc...)
and
Code:
adb shell
rm -rf /sdcard/(TWRP/TiBu etc...)
but had permission denied errors.

External SD card write support for T530N? - solved

Is there any fix for external SD card write support for the T530N? I'm on a rooted stock Samsung build BOI2 ROM and TitaniumBackup is not happy .
UPDATE: I followed the information in the thread [FIX] SD Card Write Restriction ALL Firmwares and Models and it works.
I attached an edited platform.xml file in case anyone wants it. The upload is named platform.xml.txt so it has to be renamed to platform.xml before being copied to /system/etc/permissions
Obviously keep a backup copy of the original in case anything goes wrong. Also be careful, because if there are any problems or errors with that file and it can't be read by the system, there will be MAJOR issues. I recommend using the "more" command in the terminal emulator to validate that the file looks good, prior to copying it to /system/etc/permissions as outlined in the steps below.
Before being copied the /system directory must first be re-mounted as read-write with the following command:
mount -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system /system
Since I did not have a root file manager I just installed terminal emulator, switched to superuser with "su -", copied /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml to the sdcard, copied it to my computer, edited it, copied it back to sdcard, then copied it via the root shell to /system/etc/permissions.
I can verify it works and TitaniumBackup is now happy.
