Can someone explain how I can move bluetooth from the "all settings" folder into the programs folder. It just means fewer clicks to set up a partnership for me. Thanks
why not copy the shortcut for BTManager into the startup/programs folder and then you can access it via quicklinks?
Thanks. I was looking for the correct file in windows but there are plenty with beginning with bt! Done

hi,
I am having problem deleting an icon from the promgrams section of o2 XDA2.
I downloaded one program and later deleted the program through romeove program. The actual program has been deleted but has left behind an icon on the programs list. I cannot figure out a way how to delete it. Can anyone help
Manoj
Deleting items in program list
Look in "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" - they are all there.
use explore or what ever file browsing tool that you use to get your kicks
go into the dir called windows
go into the dir called start menu
go into the dir called programs or something like that
it's just like on a pc
Use File Explorer. Go to \Windows then \Start Menu. Open \Programs and do whatever you want.
For some reason my Internet Explorer program never appeared on the
start menu or in the programs folder. Every time I want to open it I need
to use file explorer and open it from the folder. Does anyone know how I
get it into the program folder? I've even tried cut and paste but can't.
thanks
Brett
Start > Settings > Menus* > [x] Internet Explorer
?
Internet Explorer doesn't appear as an item to be checked. That's my problem.
ah
Start > Programs > File Explorer
browse for "iexplore.exe"
tap and hold on "iexplore.exe", then choose "Copy" from the popup.
browse to Windows\Start Menu\Programs
choose Menu, then Edit, then Paste Shortcut
rename the shortcut to just "Internet Explorer".
You'll then find IE in Start > Programs > Internet Explorer
And you'll also find it in that list to add it to the Start Menu.
Thanks for the idea but unfortunately it didn't work. I have tried the copy-paste idea on the xda and I get the message "Cannot copy 'iexplore': Executable and resource files in ROM cannot be copied."
If I try to do the copy-paste thing through the PC the "iexplore" file doesn't even show in the place I can clearly see it in the windows folder on the xda!
It's got me stumped.
cheers, Brett
Those phpBB errors are getting quite annoying.

Silly protectionisms in Windows Mobile...
Try the attached file - it contains a shortcut to IE. Just place the shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ - should do the trick.
PRESTO!!
Thanks ZeBoxx. Worked a treat.

make sure you tick "Show Hidden File/Folder" and untick "Hide system/protected files/folder" in the folder option setting (in your PC).

The Windows folder on the X1 (or any PPC) is classed as a system folder. When viewed on your PC (and you have the folder options set to hide system files and folders), they won't show up.
Go to Control Panel/Folder options on your PC and select "Show hidden files and folders" and also de-select "Hide protected operating system files"
It is recommended to re-select the latter after you've finished doing what you need to do with your X1, to protect your files on your PC.
RE:
Cheers buddy, i knew of the show hidden files and folders, but wasn't aware of the protected files option. nice one, greatly appreciated.
best regards,
Joel
I wonder where the sound files that can be selected for SMS and Mail sound are located. There are a lot in the list but can't find them in any folder.
I want to add new sounds and need to know where to place them. Thanx.

Ringtones go in /my documents/my ringtones
SMS and mail go in /windows, you probably can't find any 'cos you're using the in built and very bad file explorer.
Try total commander (lots of cabs and a website so search for it) it's freeware and superb to let you really see what's on your device..
I placed both of mine in My Documents and they work fine...
Thanks for the information.
I installed TC and now I see Windows folder.
I have TC on PC (Windows Visat) too and it doesn't show the phone at all. But I see limited folders on Windows Explorer. Is there any setting or another program to use on PC to see ALL folders. Thanks.

In windows explorer:
Tools > Folder options > make sure to check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "hide protected files"
you'll be able to acces the phone's windows folder in your windows explorer
Hello,
I've already read some threads about this issue, but all I see is this:
"Browse to /windows/start menu/programs and move the shortcuts".
I'm using the latest Topix release and there are already some folders with apps in them, so I just wanna do the same, while using the rom's default folders.
Is that even possible ?
Thanks in advance!
~sekibun
It is possible and it's easy. You will need to use your file explorer. I'll tell you what I did. I'm using the Resco Explorer so I had to make sure that I could see all files and folders including hidden and ROM by unchecking menu options to hide them. Then I justnavigateted to windows/start menu/programs and cut/pasted shortcuts to folders. You'll have to repeat the process for any newly installed applications later on. Hope that helps
easiest way to do this is connect your phone using active sync and simply browse to that directory and swap things around to your hearts content. If you want to change icon files use JWMD icon changer.
Thank you people, will try both and post back !

If you can't see windows folder you need to go to start - folder optons - view - uncheck "hide all operating system files (recommended)" in Vista.
