Storage Card Manilla Problems - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

I tried to install some of the new manilla roms yesterday (with the ebook reader) and everytime my device rebooted manilla got stuck after some time not doing anything. So i first installed a stock rom to clean up my device and tried again.... still nothing. Finally i decided to take out my memmorycard (16gb) and see what happens. Suddenly manilla booted with success. so decided to format my sd card and everything was ok again... took me a day to find out so i decided to post this for users having the same problems.

There have been known problems with 16gb cards on the 2.02 Manila so I suspect there maybe on the new 2.07 as well.

I think the general problem is that manila is scanning your SD card for things like music and pictures etc, so whenever you boot just remove the SD card untill manila shows and then reinsert it. My 8GB sd card gives me these issues if I have too many files on it (storing your kitchen on the sd card can do this as there are 30k+ files in it!)

Storage Card Problems
It seems that whenever i use about 10 gb of my storage card this happens. It happend to me 2 times now. I never mind formatting my storage card. I think it's good to make a clean start ones in a while. Plus i have back ups of my most important stuff. Now it's running like a charm again.

Keeps rebooting with new microsd card

Hi , i just got a new sandisk 4gb microsd. The card works fine except when i softreset, it wont go to the homescreen, it will keep rebooting without an end!
Ive been reading on the internet and for some people the solution was to renaming the file omap850_sdhc.dll to omap850_sdhc.dll.old in the windows folder.
But on my htc p4350 with the official vodafone wm6 , that file seems to be part of the rom and cant be edited ! Ive tried totalcommander, resco explorer.
Does anyone have a solution for this or is familiar with this problem??
Thanks
What happens if you take the card out, reboot, then put it back in?

That works , but thats just not what i want.
Hi Phusio,
I have the same problem. Have you found a solution yet?
the windows sdhc card driver probably messed up...that or you installed something on the card that should've been installed on the phone..and now your windows is confused...hehe
there are several solutions... i don't know any that work on all devices
it's been discussed many times... try searching for boot-loop or stuck at splash screen... something along those lines.
the easiest solution is to hard reset...
if you're card is clean that's even better cuz then you can organize it very nice and neat..
Doing a hard reset is not an option for me.
Several other threads have discussed the option of deleting/renaming the omap650sdhc.dll followed by a soft-reset. But this dll is in rom and cannot be deleted. Tried Total Commander and Resco Explorer, but no chance.
Guess I will wait until I'm fed up enough to do a hard-reset.
i had that same problem with my new MicroSD 4GB card.
All i did was:
Turn the phone off and take battery + SIM out.
Turn in your MicroSD card and start it up.
When it's fully booted take the battery out without turning the phone off and put the sim back in.
Then turn it back on and hope for the best.
It worked for me.

microsd card destroyed by flashing rom?

hello everyone.
i have a problem and i hope you guys can help me by sharing your idea's / thoughts.
the problem is that my Sandisk 8gb class 2 isnt recognised by anything anymore.. here is my story what led to this event.
i was going to flash a new rom. so i removed sim and sd card (removed my card becouse i was using mtty task 29 with radio and was affraid it would remove the data on there too.) anyway after that was done i flashed EnergyROM with max sense. but it was the different max sense that i was hoping for so i flashed to energyrom 17th march with cookie shortly after. i installed some programs from storage card.. seemed to work fine. i plugged it in my computer as a disk drive, put some programs on it. it was busy and then it disappeared. it wouldnt show up on the phone to so i soft reset it. still nothing.. i hard reset and it still was gone.. then i put it in a sd adapter and into my laptop. wouldnt show there too. so can it be that it got ****ed up by the rom? (becouse there are other ppl having this issue)
any help would be welcome..

You've mentioned in your post that it stopped working whilst connected to your computer, so how would it be the ROM causing the issue?

i am not sure about that but there are 2 other people i saw in the energyrom threat posting about the same subject. (here and here) since there is not much help about the subject there and im not sure its even rom related i came here to ask for help.
i read somewhere that it could be possibly fixed by putting the card for 2 hours in the freezer. but that didnt work for me..

Hello Jamieeeee,
I couldn't agree you more ... ! I have exactly the same encounter as you. My Sandisk 8G card is corrupted soon after flashing EnergyRom Maxmanila for a few hours (Before flashing, I removed my sim and sd card). Then, I put the card in three different computers hoping that I could recover the files but failed. Still searching for resolutions!
Could this be hd2 or sd card's problem?
your hd2's came with an 8 gig? mine came with a 16 gig. sweet!
yeah, that sux tho. did you try reformating the card?
the 16gb sd card that came with this phone seems very cheap.. when i tried to copy a few GB of music and a couple movies on mine (through activesync) it kept crashing..
the phone would say it recognized a sd card inserted, but it wouldnt scan it nor did the pc detect the "drive"
i had to reset the phone several times durring the transfer..
finally i just went with a better quality 8gb sd card i had.. its much faster.
i was going to try to contact tmobile and now that ive seen posts about the sd card i think i will.
hi all
Regarding this problem we all are having i think its got to do with the energy rom somewhere as i have flashed different energy roms and SD card appear for so long and then disappear. After taking battery out and then it will reappear again and disappear again.
I got it to stay on one rom installed all programs i needed etc then did a reset it disappeared and still gone but it can re read by a card reader so not corrupted.
so it's got something to do the Energy rom i think.
any thoughts ?
Eggie
not related to rom
i too had the same problem with stock rom and if i recall well two more users got this problem with hd2 with stock rom. i also have got the stock sandisk 8gb. all people having this problem here have got the 8gb?? i think the problem is with the 8gb card supplied with the phone.

[Q] HELP: android wont start up for some reason?

NOTE: i posted this in the development thread by mistake, reposting here. sorry
hey everyone
i tried searching the threads but i cant find anyone with my exact problem (or something similar at least).
anyways ive been running dutty's winmo rom, i have a proper .50 radio running, and i have been able to successfully boot into darkstones superram v1.5 for the past few weeks just fine.
one night i forgot to charge the battery so it drained out, in the morning i had to work and i needed a number which was on the android OS of the phone, so i immediately turned on the phone after starting to charge it and booted into android, the phone didnt have enough power though and shut off while it was checking the SD card for errors.
after this point, i started up the phone again after 2 minutes to give it some time to charge, and it was able to get into android, however on hte way to work i tried listening to music and/or getting pictures from my SD card (using astro to search the SD card) but when i clicked on a file everything force closed, the music player froze up everytime i tried to get music going, and things like the sound options in the android settings menu would force close as well.
i figured somethnig messed up on the SD card so i backed up some stuff and formatted the SD card, and reinstalled a fresh version of darkstones superram (new data.img and everything).
when i tried launching android it went to the green HTC screen for a few seconds, then the screen goes black and the phone restarts into winmo.
this kept happening so i figured maybe something went wrong with the windows mobile rom, so i installed an energy rom just now and hte same thing is still happening.
what im going to do today is try it on a different SD card to see if thats the problem, and try another SD android ROM to make sure.
but if anyone can save me some time and knows whats happening here please let me know!
any help is appriciated! thanks!
[Dec 18][RAM] darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 [kernel: Hastarin custom]
I am assuming you are using the above.
It sounds like your SD card was "damaged", try refreshing it this way.
Assuming you are using Windows PC.
Download SD Card Formatter 3 and install.
Insert SD card into card reader
Start up SD Card Formatter 3, it should detect your SD Card.
Click on OPTIONS button
Format = FULL (ERASE ON)
Format Size Readjustment = ON
Click OKAY then START
When done, put only important stuff back, like music, documents, videos, etc..
Then start Darkstone Froyo from scratch, in case those files were damaged before the backup.

Cannot delete/add files on 16Gb sdhc card

Hi all
Just want to share my experience. Don't know whether it was a result of me flashing my TP but just recently when I wanted to add some songs on to my sdhc card (which is in my TP) I noticed that I couldn't. Also when I delete some files, once I refreshed the screen, it would still be there. Noticed that something was going on when I couldn't save pics to my sd card, thought it was due to the NRG rom but now it's confirmed that the card will not delete/add other files on to it. I've had this card since I bought my tp 2 years ago
Whatever is on the card is fine, like my previous programs that were installed and my music which was there before. It is still usable, only with what is there.
I tried to format the card - after almost 24h of formating - it gave an error (forgot what it was though)
So, next time you flash, might want to remove that sd card?
i ve nrg Rom (ernergy style), too and a 16 GB sdhc card ... i never take it out when flashing new roms & i flash nearly every new rom that comes out, never had such issues as you have... maybe hardware error: did you controll/format (fat-format) your card with special progs as SDFormatter from Panasonic?
hi, no i just used initially via windows and then via command prompt. forgot about sdformat...
will google & try,
thanks for reminding me

WP7 inoperative after restart

Hi all
It's the second time that, after restarting my phone, it loses the graphic interface
first with a DFT rom and after reinstalling Xbmod nodo rom it gives me the same problem.
Nothing to do I had to reinstall a fresh rom
SDCard problem? Any idea?

U should try using a different SD Card, ur SD card may not be compatible with wp7 :/
Thx
I'm trying now to install xbmod on my brand new sandisk 16Go C4 SDHC Card
I'll tell you what's the matter with it
If this is an sd card issue then you should buy a windows phone compatible sd card. ATT sells them. Only 8gb as of right now but im using it as we speak and i havent one reboot since. Purchase price is $32.00 (actually says windows phone on the packaging)
I have a similar problem, after installing W7 on HD2,
I synced google account and then just wanted to try soft restart,
but the phone went to constant restart mode - it shows green HTC text on white backround, then MAGLDR screen, then W7 boot picture and then restarts again in cycles.
removing SIM does not help.
removing SD will boot to where it sayes I have SD error and can only make emergency calls.
What was your solution?
how to I get back to MAGLDR menu to reistall W7?
I have tried Sandisk 8GB (class 2 and class 4 both) and Transcend 4GB class 4 , with no issues.
I Too faced the same issue during Flashing of XbModROM on my HD2, and I started the mobile few times without sdcard, and again put it back in.
I assume its like my old celeron PC recognizing a dead CD-ROM.
I still have this problem and there seems to be no solution.
a fresh install of WP7 works fine, without crashing, but I have to take care that battery wont drain, because after the first shut-down WP7 wont load, and I have to do a reinstall.
##TRY##
use the unlocker tool to unlock ur SD card,
and use HD2s Stock ROM
and start install from scratch, remember to format the SD card on fat32 (using a nokia phone if possible

i had the same issues when flashing xbox/yuki xda rom. try doing a couple of hard resets. strangely enough that worked after about four of them lol and my phones been working great since. its probably your sd card as well. ive used a few class 4 cards to no avail. i'm currently using the stock sandisk 16gb class 2 card i got with my hd2 and it hasnt failed me yet
okey,
my solution was - I bought a new microSD card, and now it has loaded for 10 times, so -> problem solved!?
Now i'm trying all options to unlock the 8gig card I had problems with - so to use it elsewhere.
