I'm finding standard stuff is not present on this phone (as much as i love it)
Is it not possible to create my own profile? The only options are silent vibrate and normal, i can't even tweak silent or vibrate to actualy do something else.
I would like a profile from when i'm at work, much the same as my normal settings just a lot lower

Phonealarm 1.54 is superb, but it's casuing me a very annoying problem, and I don't know why:
I like to have my phone set to "Vibrate" at all time. By that, I mean clicking the little speaker at the top of all WM5 devices and where you get the 2 sliders for volume of device and phone, at the bottom it has "On", "Vibrate" and "Off".
However since I installed Phonealarm my phone always reverts back to "On" - but I can't seem to work out why, there's no pattern to it - sometimes it just sits there on Vibrate, then next time I use the phone it's back to On. I can't seem to work out if things like going into the Phonealarm setup menu causes it, or clicking an alert in Phonealarm, or whatever - it just seems that after a while it'll revert to "On" without me asking it to, and it's only been happening since I installed Phonealarm.
Any ideas?
phoneAlarm 1.54
Its hard to say with this programme. The developer has built so much into this excellent app for so may devices, there always seems to be one problem or another. I would post a question in the support forum (www.pocketmax.net). Bruce (the developer) is pretty responsive. He may ask you to send a log ad he will try and fix in next version. I am waiting for 1.55, due out on the next few days
Regards
Chris
I believe you need to put the option to vibrate in all profiles. For exampe in the settings screen, if you go to a particular profile then click on sms notification you need to tick the vibrate option. To get it working on the ring tone as well set the ring option in profiles to "Vibrate and Ring". Remember to do this for all alerts for all profiles!

Is there a way to set different bluetooth, screen timeout, and profile settings for each scene on the Evo?
I use Pandora and the music player in the car. The problem is my bluetooth headset is set to play media audio so I have to change that every time I get in and out of the car. And I don't want the display shutting off either, so I have to change that every time I get in and out of the car.
While I'm at it, is there a way to set a different profile (vibrate, normal, silent) on different Scenes? That's another thing that I find myself manually changing more often than I would like.
I'm thinking the "Scenes" feature of Sense would be ideal for this. Just set up the apps you want, the profile settings, display settings, etc, and save that Scene. But I can't make it save any settings other than the wallpaper and widgets/shortuts.
Does anyone know how I could go about this? Even is it's not possible in Sense, is there another way to do it?
Not sure there is a single solution...but you might look into a combination of something like "sweet dreams" and "locale"
if you have froyo the car mode maybe helpful
Does anyone know of an app for Windows Phone 7 or the Samsung Focus that will control the sound profiles like you can on Android? I want something that will give me the ability to control the ringer, Alarm, system sound, Music, and such separately. Or is there a way of doing this with standard WP7 that I just can't find. it's annoying that when I turn down the sound for the keyboard clicking too loudly, that I can't hear the ringer.
I'd also like this to have various settings that you can preconfigure for say normal, night, vibrate only, or silent other than say the alarm and ringer (for night use).
Any ideas?

I'm afraid this isn't possible with the SDK that third party developers have access to....
I don't have my own phone yet so I can't comment on if the option is already built in, but I do know that its not in the SDK.
I don't know if i am missing something or what. In eclair you have vibrate as its own seperate level ( Silent -> Vibrate -> Volume 1 ->Volume 2 -> ect...). On froyo I have not been able to make vibrate its own seperate level, its either Vibrate only in silent mode, Vibrate only when not in silent mode, always, or never. Am i over-looking something?

Wouldn't Vibrate in silent mode be the same as vibrate? It will only vibrate because its...silent.
Nope, vibrant isn't the same as silent.. At my company, even a vibrating phone during meetings is a no no....

Simple Sound Profile Widget
I don't know if this will help you but go into the Market and download a free app/widget called Simple Sound Profile Widget. This is a great app that i use. You can place a widget on home screen and switch between profiles with a click and easily create new profiles. To give you an idea of how i have mine set up:
1) Loud - All sounds are set to the highest with vibrate on
2) Normal - All sounds are set to half with vibrate on
3) Silent - All sounds are off and vibrate is on
4) None - No alerts of any kind
I don't know if you looking to just switch between audio alerts and vibrate alerts easily this is the quickest and best way that i have found. You can rename the profiles to what you want them to be. This will also place a link in your notification bar so you can at a glance know what profile you are on and even change profiles without going to your home screen.
Does anyone else feel like the alert slider is disappointing? I like the feature, but the settings for them are very restrictive. The silent and DND setting is different from what I assumed. They should have given us total freedom to customize it. Mine would be like:
Silent
Alarm sound optional
options to set volume silders
a timeout setting (to prevent phones getting lost forever when on silent)
DND
Alarm default on
Reminders/Events sounds optional
System sounds silent by default
Ring
This one is actually fine But they should allow us to set ringer all the way to vibate
Can anyone think of a workaround to customize the sliders?
Generally, I agree with you. A lot more customization would greatly benefit this feature, and I hope to see a way to change it on a rooted(/maybe future xposed, maybe?) I've gotten used to it, but I'd like to be able to set the phone to vibrate without sliding it to silent. For me I'd like it to be possible to change a profile, and have those settings come back when you switch to it. In fact, they could make the profiles have arbitrary names that can be set, and with all settings available for each. I'd want it like:
Silent:
Everything but alarms off.
Vibrate:
Like silent is now, but media not silent (yes I know you can change media settings)
Ring:
Like it is now.
It's the lack of customization that bothers me. I wouldn't call it a letdown, it's still useful, and I've gotten used to it, but it's not the way I'd ideally like it. Also, AFAIK, you can't control it like you can with no hardware using Tasker.
Coming from similar experience in the past with OP3 and OP3T I am very optimistic that our great developers will come up with all kind of solutions. Given the hot discussions everywhere its easy to forget that this phone is only available since a week (and in hands of most persons since much less)....
Just add a vibrate option to the DND mode! Then it would be ring, vibrate/priority, silent...customizable however is preferred.
