Hello guys.
Could you tell me where to put new ringtones for notification sounds?
I mean: if I put the ringtones in normal "ringtone folder" in device memory, they are seen by the system as normal ringtones. When I search inside notifications, they are all the same, no new ones...
thx to everybody.
Try to put directly in My Documents folder. That works.
thx mate.
I'll give it a try.

i am trying to figure out where custom notifcation sounds go adn how they are configured.
i see a rings folder in the windows folder that has all the ring tones..
i see all the notification tone in the windows folder but how does the phone recognise them ? they seem to be .mid and .wav files. does the phone only recognize a certain size file to be a notification ?
i would like to add my own notification sounds/tones
thanks

So I tried to make a sound file from my computer a text notification sound...
I dropped into the "Rings" folder in windows, it was a MP3 file, it showed up there and played. I went to go select it from the "Notification Sounds" but it wouldn't show up.
I later noticed all of the files were WMA, so I converted it did the same procedure and it still wouldn't show up for selection in there...
So idk what to do, I'm trying to basically make a custom text notification sound but its not showing as a selection once I drop it into the folder where the Alarm/Alert/ and Ringers are found... HELP!
I have my ringtones and notifications sounds on my sd card. I use phonealarm to select my profiles and sounds. Works great.
where'd u get the phonealarm app?
Its still on my device, if I were to put it all on my SD card would it work then? I'd rather just drop the file in there and select it from the Notification's selection, I'm just really annoyed with it right now been working at it for a while and nothing is coming up... I just want it to work finally lol.
I know it's a really late response, but if you want to change your sms alert tone, just copy the .mp3 into your 'Windows' folder on the device.
You should then be able to select it in the settings.
put them in application data\sounds folder and they will show up. thats how I have mine and it works fine.
I have all my sounds in the root of my SD card.
Figured out on the Touch HD that SMS/Reminders sounds needed to be .wav and not .mp3
Try to convert to .wav and drop it again.

Have you tried to just copy and paste it into the "Windows" folder? Not any of the sub-folders...
is there a way to change the notifications into different sounds than the default ones they give you. I have othr mp3 files I would like to have in place for the default ones they give
please offer a little more information on the background. what rom are you using? what exact notification are you trying to replace? have you checked the "sounds & notifications" settings, whether there is the option which you are trying to change?

rom, i have no clue,, but i got the most recent update form tmobile, and been adding things from other users,
I checked sounds and notifications, but yet I cant find the folder thhat can be used for notifications
Hi,
The way I do it is put all the ringtone files you want to use in the folder on the root of your SD card called My Documents (if it's not there then create it).
Then got to Settings/Sounds & Notifications - select notifications tab at the bottom. All the files you added to the folder should be in the dropdown now.
Hopefully that helps.
Cheers.
Can any one please tell me where the factory ringtones are stored? I have looked in sdcard/ringtones and sdcard/notifications. They are not in either of those folders. Thanks
Default ringtone seems to be "Girtab.ogg" (may or may not actually be the stock ringtone though; I'm on a AOSP-based ROM), no idea where it's location is though.
I even looked in the guidebook. It doesn't mention where to add ringtones.
/system/media/audio
All of your tones (ring, notification, alarm, etc) are in there. If you don't want to root but want to add tones, create a 'media' folder on your SDcard and add your tones to it, following the structure of the media folder in system. They'll show up in the selector automatically. (May require a reboot)

Craziest thing I have ever seen. In the name of developing upon the Android platform Vivo has removed the customisable notifications and ringtones. Each time the phone switches on, you have to rework all the customizations from the beginning.
Any ringtones you want to select from your personal files can only be selected from the SD card and gets erased every time the phone goes off.
I tried accessing multiple system files including downloads, music, record, others but was not able to add any ringtone files to the system default ringtone files.
Anyone here who has any ideas or success with these efforts?
Customize ringtone problem solved
Just change the ringtone formate to .ogg.
I worked for me. Put the ringtone in internal memory of ur mobile not in SD card.
And if you want to add those to ur default ringtone list then follow below steps-
1. Make a folder in your internal memory of ur mobile and name it media
2. Inside it make a folder and name it audio
3. Inside audio make 2 folders name them notifications & ringtones.
4. Put the converted .ogg files in ringtone if u want it it default ringtone list or in notifications if you want it in notification list.
That's it now all those ringtones can be selected in default list.
