I have copied my phone number onto my sim from my old phone and imported to contact.
Irrittatingly the HD2 sees the names backwards and only searches for the "first" name [there are lots of "name_mobile" and hence now I have to search for "mobile"]
Anyway to select the order of names or will i have to edit about 180 contacts?
there is a cab that when run reverses the names. I'll try and attach it but if I cant, look for "contact changer first last"
if you add new contacts after using it don't forget to select display first last out they will be wrong.(course you can run the changer prog again to fix it)
this is not my handiwork but sadly I can't remember who to credit.
Mates Mate.
Useful to have
Sadly I don't think that will fix it.
I looked at a few contacts. They were imported to my [still waiting to be active!] sim from my current phone (SE K800i) and then from sim to HD2
Sadly "John Smith" as a saved mobile number is identified in Contacts as:
Forename - blank
Surname Smith; John/2 [I assume the /2 is a code assigned by the SE to differentiate between mobile/home/work/business category symbols].
It is a PITA that I might have to edit all of them by hand.
They are all nicely ordered in Outlook in a subfolder from Contacts Called "Mobile Contacts" but I can't get ActiveSynch to synch with anything but the main contacts folder [The SE Software did allow this easily]

Hello all, I just received my X1, and I am loving it! Great way to start off the new year! However my contact list looks funny...Is there any way to change my contact list? For some reason after every name is a /1 or /2. I am getting my contacts through my sim, is there a way to remove the /1 or /2, or would I have to go through every list and take it off?
try copying your contacts on to your phone to see whether that resolves it. Some phones (my old sony ericsson phone used to) stores primary, duplicate, mobile, work numbers etc. with backslashes.
Yea mine was like that too. I didnt want to change it manually so I just beamed them from my old phone one by one :|
I know what you would've done... You previously had a SE phone in which you had stored contacts with various numbers Home number, work number etc...
Then you copied them onto your sim, before putting in the sim to the X1.
Now this is the way SE stores them on the sim...
great...no way to fix this all together? lol yeahh i had a k810i, which i don't find to be too old of a phone...i tried exporting from the sim to the phone too, didn't change anything though. Is there a way to export your contact list to the computer? I could just write up a quick c++ program to take in the list and remove all slashes and everything after that.
I wanna export my contact list into my comp
Im having problems finding for my contacts on the phone because of the overlapping of names with /1 /2 sort of titles... but before i do any changes and arrange the contacts, i wanna save them into a list on my computer. but it doesnt show on the microsoft office outlook contact list ?? help me~!
totally new to pocket pc here... please help!
greatly appreciated.
W810i to Xperia
Yea similar thing happened to me. I have a w810i and i saved all my contacts to the sim, and tried to copy them into my Xperia. The contacts were saved like
last name; firstname /m (mobile)
last name; firstname /h (home)
So what i did was I put the SIM back in my w810i and sent the contacts via bluetooth. You don't need a sim to power on the Xperia. However, i was unable to get "Send all contacts" to work. So i had to send one at a time!, it was a pain, but at least it's better than trying to removed the /m /h and consolidate the numbers into one contact.
Hope this helps!
I just corrected all contract one by one... the problem is the difference between a mobile phoen and a smart phone...
On all my other SE phones, I've had the contacts sorted by First name, but the Xperia wants to sort them by last name. I downloaded Xperia tweak, and that helped to stop viewing my SIM contacts, but even when I have xperia tweak change sorting to "First name, last name" it says done, I click save, restart, and my contacts are still sorted by last name. If I don't restart, they still aren't sorted any differently. Halp?

That's because the last name field in ur contacts program is actually the first name. You have to manual fix your first and last name.
The sim card is never fully compatible with any phone. SIM cards are designed to work with every other operating systems.
Don't ever use sim card to backup your contacts, get a PIM manager for that and back it up as a PIM file.
sync with outlook dude, customize outlook to sort all contacts names as first last
Hi folks,
I was just wondering, is there a way to set the phone to automatically associate the contacts in the phone with the relevent 'Friend' on Facebook, or do you have to go through each one in turn?
Just a thought.
Cheers!
The People app should bring up a list of suggested pairings based on contact name. This should appear in the Groups tab ISTR.
I assume that as long as your contact name is the same as the Facebook name, it should match them up. If you call 'Bob Smith', 'baldy' in your phone contacts (hey, he may be balding early), I doubt his 'Bob Smith' Facebook account will match up automatically.
Mine just pinged up a list and I confirmed each match (using check boxes) to link them.
Boringly I tend to use people real names in my contacts list rather than nicknames. It paid off
Hi all,
Just recieved my new HTC HD2 handset. Transferred all/most contacts from my old phone, to the SIM and placed in the new phone. However, the names show as a scramble....
eg.... If I had the name "John Smith" on my old phone, it now shows it as "-Sm;John/1"
Also, if I edit the contact, there's only one name field. However, if I add a new contact, I can add a First Name and a Surname
Just connected it to my laptop, don't have outlook, but do use thunder bird.... Is there a way a syncronising these together?
BTW: my last phone was a Sony Ericsson C902
Did you wipe the simcard before you copied all the contacts to it? My gf has something similar that occured when she combined the phone contacts and teh sim contacts. (Bit late for you to do anything about it now, of course, just asking ) as for TBird support, sorry, don't know.
I thought it was already clear TBH....

Nothing to do with the phone, its how Outlook managed your contacts. Go to Google contacts online and swap them all round.
What I had to do, needed to sort my contacts out anyway
so i have to fix every name and name??
isnt there anyway to fix it once to all conatcts ?
I guess you can export all contacts from outlook to an csv file, open the csv file in excel or openoffice calc and shift the columns for firstname, and lastname.
how can i do that?
and after ill export to CSV - whats than? im not that good in exel..
I have no idea about excel either but you have two choices most likely:
1. Just drag and drop the column(s) ...
2. Play with cut/paste after you select the entire column
Damn. In fact, I want to do it the other way round.
Fimaly name, then first name.
When I imported my contacts, I got first name before fimaly name
