random question......
unlike many, I actually really like windows mobile calendar, and think its a bit more functional than the htc sense one.
Is there anyway to link the today calendar to windows calendar so that it comes up, instead of defaulting to the calendar tab on sense?
Gracias in advance you clever people!
You're right, htc calendar is eye-candy but basically s***s big time.
I cannot copy/paste calendar item, cannot tap-hold delete them, nor can I move forward one week or a LOT of other things that in the "uglier" PO calendar are easy to do.
Having a calendar tab which points to plain pocket outlook would be nice, instead of sacrificing one quicklink slot that I already use for other things.
I put it in quick links, and anyway now PO calendar looks simply ugly, some interface elements are garbled (the arrows to move one week forward or backward, or missing box to "go to today"), plus opening the dropdown to select the time is hella hard with the small arrow and big fingertip... AHHH software shortcomings are oh so frustrating, and it would have required so little of an effort to make sense calendar better!

I'm looking for a tool -- free --to see the first N appointments.
Anything similar to the calendar view 'Agenda'.
Nowadays I'm using the TodayAgenda plugin. It works fine but I prefer a tool not intergrated in the Today window.
Sorry for my bad English
http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/datelens/
I've been looking for (probably) the same thing. Datelens is cool, but I couldn't find an agenda view. I want to see all upcoming appointments in list format, not just the one day at a time and not in a grid.
The best idea I could come up with was to sync with Google Calendar and use Google's mobile calendar page. The major drawback is that it requires internet connection whenever I want to see the appointments.
Still looking....
hi,
the problem is simple and the topic says it: I have set up 5 mail accounts with outlook mobile but the touchflo-ui only have 4 icons for me. and and of them is reserved for the fixed standard outlook mail account.
thats a bit uncomfortable... how can i change the number of mail icons, that on on the right side in touchflo?
thanks in advance!
Interesting, I was wondering how I could see the difference between just the two accounts I have... (I have two identical envelopes). Anyone?
I also asked this earlier: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=460114
But, I've not had any useful suggestions. It's not a big headache but it would be nice to find a way to differentiate between the icons.
Same here...being able to differentiate between the icons of my multiple email accounts would be an awesome feature.
Maybe partly off-topic for this thread but when I look at my "Programs" screen I'm already collecting quite some programs there. All of these are only identified by their ICON (on the square buttons). Sometimes (especially with similar programs) I simply do not know anymore what is what... (now I know of course that if I'd want to see the actual program names, the file-explorer would do nicely. However, I'm wondering if there would be something out there that first gives the program name when you click a button and only executes if you confirm (that would have the additional benefit that if you scroll down in your list you can no longer accidentally press a button)... Makes sense??
Right or Left?

Is there something I'm missing but it should be in the lower left had corner of the larger envelope, but you guys are probably referring to the smaller icons on to the right, right?

The larger envelope in the lower left (on the bar) does give the number of unread emails but it does not indicate which account you're in. Same for the two identical little envelopes in the mid-upper right. Would be nice if you could make the envelopes different to be able to see the difference between e.g. your Gmail and Hotmail account...

The small envelopes in the upper right do not differentiate between accounts, the mid-sized envolope in the TouchFlo scroll bar shows the number of new emails, but if you have mail in an inbox and select the small envelope for that account, then the LARGE envelope in the middle of the screen showing the message preview will have the account name at the bottom left (e.g. Gmail)
See attached image!
I must admit, because of the limitations of the mail tab in TF3D I find it virtually useless. It's pure eye candy. When I get a new mail notification I go to the TF3D mail tab and then use the right soft-key to get to the normal WM list of all the accounts, where I can immediately see which of my six email accounts has new mail waiting.
That TF3D mail tab promises so much but delivers so little. Even the stocks tab works more usefully than this, and that must be far less popular with the majority of users.
Hi
I wrote a little app called Fonebook which syncs your facebook friends photos into your outlook contacts - when you then sync with your phone you get the profile image.
Im looking at adding a few more features and possibly creating a "Pro" version to try and recoup the cost of the library Im having to use so I can get full sized images into outlook (the outlook api sucks!)
Im not sure which windows phone allow the caller id to be full screen (I know mine doesnt!) - if you know of anywhere I might be able to get a list of smartphones/pda's which support this could you point me in that direction please!
If you have any ideas for this type of application, or have any suggestions when it comes to creating a "pro" version of something as oppose to relying on donations could you please fill in this short survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=xOAJWNgBXsnGAopW7zqDNQ_3d_3d
Thanks for reading this (the current version of the app is here in case you are curious: http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2442338999
Thanks
Ross
you might wanna take a look at s2u2 it's a iphone slider app which gives us wm touch screen users full screen caller id if there was a way for your app to resize the facebook pictures to the size of the screen wqvga, qvga, vga, wvga
you may also want to look at skybook. I think it has a similar feature where it takes the profile picture from facebook and adds it to your contacts picture. I tried it once with skybook and it worked fairly well until I received errors with logging in, so I uninstalled it.
using the new facebook app from winmo 6.5 and don't have any issue logging in, only problem is that I can't update the photos like in skybook.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
good luck
I would also be interested in some way to sync the contact details from Facebook to WM.
people tend to keep facebook up to date with phone numbers email addresses etc, and it would be handy to have this information downloaded automatically.
EDIT: I see you have covered the fact that Facebook block this option on the page above, but I still think its a worthy idea and have joined the petition!
Fosimo was the only thing that I could get to work for syncing facebook data. My only complaint was that it added everyone's birthdays to my calendar...
I like the idea behind this, however, I do not use outlook on my home pc.
Does this work without hooking your phone to your PC? I ask because I rarely ever sync my phone with my home PC, I do sync to my work PC but I don't sync the email, and it's a work pc, so no facebook there....
I know that new SPB mobile shell program does this but I really don't see a point in installing that and keeping it around just to sync outlook pictures. I prefer to use my touchflo that came installed on my phone. I just picked up a Fuze, my old phone was an 8525 and SPB was the best solution for it...
Is there a standalone program that would do the same thing?
You really should put a mirror of that file somewhere else, man. SkyDrive is being broken. I was searching for an app like that, saw Fonebook and OutSync. i don't care which one I get, i just want a link. Hors Skydrive, please.
well to be honest fonebook is the best app i saw so far for syncing facebook contact pics with outlook contacts.
i liked the feature to be able to choose manually which facebook contact corresponds to an outlook contact. (a missing feature to many other apps)
the only problem it has is that at the moment almost everyone use high resolution screen mobile phones with vga and wvga and the pics that sync with your app are very small and blurry when viewed in full screen incoming call apps like s2u2 that most people use. so a great addition to your app would be to add an option to download the contact pics to a chosen resolution that corresponds to vga/wvga/qvga/wqvga and to save the cashe somewhere in the pc even.
please keep this project up and running and update it asap
Got a Topaz, and have TF3D (the touchy interface from HTC), set that up to sync image to facebook.
So My images go Facebook -> phone -> outlook
instead of Facebook -> outlook -> phone
Works for me.
Personally, I don't think there's much money to be made on this (a pro version) when newer phones have this built in, and there's already other good free apps out there, unless you can add some seriously impressive functions, and even then, the free competitors would soon add those same features.

Hope can syncs the high resolution pics in next version.
And is it cannot syncs the birthday if the user didn't type the birthday year?
Hi there,
I am thinking of buying the Inesoft Calendar application as I like the different views it gives me and the task list integration. Does anyone know any other alternatives?
Also, can someone post screen shots of the new calendar screens from 6.5.3? I've seen the monthly view (same as 6.5) and the annual view - is there anything else?

Look up Calender Touch, it pretty much kicks AS#
Thanks.
One of things I like about the inesoft product, is that it also shows Google calendar entries, WITHOUT zyncing them to my Outlook calendar. Any other options for this?
RussB
I just re-installed ThumbCal that i bought for my kaiser a long while back, it pretty much rocks on the TP2, and you can set it as the default calendar and tasks app, i sync all my calendars entries with Google over push which works fine..great app with a good Agenda view which i like alot.

Edit: i'm just trying out the Inesoft and so far i'm pretty impressed!!
Pocket Informant
Not sure how many options and stuff you need but this is hard to beat.

They offer 30 day free trial, probably take 30 days to play with all of the options it has.
Ok, I've managed to get my 4 day old HD2 up and running pretty much how I'd like it to be (with a lot of thanks to the Cookie Monster for CHT), which means the Sense UI and everything "front of house" is looking good. However, behind the scenes, things like Exchange (IMO) are nowhere near as well integrated as could be. Here are my issues:
- Inbox is the only folder that shows any emails whatsoever - if I go into any subfolder and do a Menu > Send/Receive > I still don't get any mails appear - WTF?
- Even my Sent Items remains empty!
- Task and calendar reminder appears on-screen = great, but I can only snooze for something like 5 minutes - how can I change this?
- When a task reminder appears on the screen and I click it, all I get is a blank task, i.e. absolutely no info whatsoever. Which means I have to unlock the phone and go into tasks (currently something like 200+) and find the task that appeared, then go in a check out the notes, etc. How rubbish is this? Even on my Tytn II I could check reminders instantly.
- If someone calls/texts/emails and I want to add them to my contacts, they seem to go automatically into Exchange - this isn't good because if they're a friend then I want to keep their details separate - how is this possible?
- Folders appear to show emails from only the last 14 days or so - surely I can change this to 30 days or whatever? No ... ?
- Having come from Android, I'm used to having all my personal contacts in Googlemail - if I export this as a CSV and import into Outlook, will these contacts get lumped in with my Exchange contacts or will they remain "local" to Outlook? I'm hoping the latter because I DEFINITELY want to keep my personal contacts separate.
Bear with me - this is not a rant. I've dabbled with WinMo and Android in the last 2.5 years and the HD2 has the slickest front-end of any phone I've seen (now that I've got it running properly (excluding the faulty speaker which doesn't play any sound/ringing whatsoever - so it's going back for a return)). However, the backend of things like Exchange/Outlook integration seems particularly poor - especially for a Windows device. And this is holding me back from committing to the phone. IAW, I could spend all day playing with the Sense UI (CHT) but ultimately I need the device to serve me as a business tool, and it's just not happening.
Does anyone else have similar issues? How have you got round them?
TIA

EDIT: Another issue with tasks = the options to sort them make it pretty impossible to manage them. I have about 50-75 reminders most of the time and in Outlook I won't use Start Date/Due Date for many of them beecause I'm be updating them all the time - which means I rely on reminders, and therefore sort them by reminder time. But the HD2 doesn't allow this, which means managing tasks - even just having a flip through to see what needs to be done over the next day or so - is unfeasible unless you spend ages updating your Start Dates or Due Dates. Even my Tytn II allowed me to manage them properly.
- Inbox is the only folder that shows any emails whatsoever - if I go into any subfolder and do a Menu > Send/Receive > I still don't get any mails appear - WTF? – Menu – Tools – Managed Folders – Click the ones you want to sync...
- Even my Sent Items remains empty! Tick it!
- Task and calendar reminder appears on-screen = great, but I can only snooze for something like 5 minutes - how can I change this? I don’t use exchange so I’m stuck on this one.
Have you tried S2U2 – you can access the task from the lock screen and go directly to them – may not be the perfect solution.
No ... ? The only way I can think of - at the moment – is through activesync – there is an option in the mail setting to the time for the sync’d mails.
– From my dealings there is only one contact file – and you can only sync to the main contact file in outlook. I removed all of my business contact into a new folder in outlook – now they aren’t on the phone. If you want both I could only suggest using the categories. But even then you will get a very long list of all contacts. Not sure how else you could deal with this using the standard software.
Limited Help Sorry! But I hope some
Thanks for the tips Neville.
I didn't even see the Tools option for managing folders - everything is now sync'ing very nicely
Had a look at S2U2 but like you say, this isn't an ideal fix. I'm really looking for a better task manager - and at least one that lets me launch task info when the reminder alarm goes off. Is that too much to ask Mr WinMo/HTC?
Can't get Activesync to do anything other than sync 14 days or so. Ar5e, but not the end of the world.
I don't mind work and personal blended together in a single contact list - what I need to be sure of is that my personal contacts are not being dumped into my (Exchange?) works contacts. Like I say, Android managed this perfectly with Exchange and Googlemail, but WM doesn't seem quite so accommodating.
Cheers

If you go into the options for the calendar there is an option for the default snooze time. Also you can set the reminder time on an individual basis when the entry is created.

It's not. simple as that. In the first thread you started before you even got the phone i did tell you this. I really don't like it when people don't pay attention!

It depends on your version of exchange. If it's 2003 it's hard coded to 7 days and can not be changed. IIRC, in exchange 2007 and exchange 2010 this can be changed. Ask you IT department to have a look at it.

It depends on how outlook is configured on the PC. If you have a profile for exchange and a profile for everything else or simply multiple mailboxes in the same profile you can create the divison there but you can only sync one mailbox over the air and this is always the defualt exchange mailbox.

Just set the start date for the day the job was created and really long due dates then set up a reminder for every 6 hours or something.
You do have a really large number of on going jobs and you really should be managing them better when they are created. I'm not defending WM6.5 here but it's not entirely a software issue, imo.
