hi guys.
can you run TCPMP Program ( multimedia program, like core player ) on your devices ?
i tested some versions but they can't play anything, and the device hanged.
i wanna use it because it supports subtitles in movies.
so do you have any opinion about this ?!
I can run TCPMP on my neoTouch. But for playing videos must be set Video driver to GDI (or Raw FrameBuffer, but no DirectDraw).
Download:
TCPMP: http://www.wmmania.cz/downloads/HD2/tcpmp_0.72rc1_gf5500edition_alpha4.1.cab
Plugin for show subtitles (.srt, .smi, .ass, .ssa): http://www.wmmania.cz/downloads/HD2/subs054.zip

what do you mean by """set Video driver to GDI (or Raw FrameBuffer, but no DirectDraw). """ ???
i dont understand ...
In the TCPMP go to Options -> Video
and here you can change Video Driver (DirectDraw, GDI, Raw FrameBuffer..). You must set GDI or Raw FrameBuffer.

WOOWWWWWWWW
tnx man , it works well :*
Best settings for TCPMP and Coreplayer sa well are: Options-Video-DirectDraw, Options-Settings-Page-DirectDraw-Overlay format YUY2-all the boxes below on the page unchecked. With these settings the video quality is brilliant. But choosing DirectDraw filter causes random reboots and this is real problem.

Is there any issue in order to play divx on Hermes? I installed TCPMP and as many users (if not all) it doesn't work properly. I installed Pocket MVP and the quality is too bad.
I have to change parameters? Help!!!!!
Did you download the divx codec for TCPMP?
V
. . . AND YOU NEED TO DISABLE ATI, USE RAW FRAMEBUFFER INSTEAD.
oops, sorry for the caps.
open tcpmp;
options;
video;
raw Framebuffer.
It' s already included in the installation package no? (version 0.71)
Did you try TCPMP on Trinity ? Because on mine the screen is flashing and I can't see trought pocket controller too.
Before I've jammin and It work with no problem.
I use tcpmp 72rc1

Direct Draw didn't work for me (actually made it worse). The video driver mode that seems to work best (at least on my P3600) is Raw FrameBuffer.
I set the video at GDI and its working fine. My TCPMP is ver 0.81RC1Beta
on my side all the settings are working more or less.
I already got some fuzzy screen but when I press stop (actually I don't see the button but if I press on the place it stand usually ..) the screen is OK.
Now when I watch TV broadcast from my PC (with my internet provider) in mpeg1 384kbs it is better with direct draw than with ATI Imageon whci works better than ATI imageon decoder ....
TCPMP / Coreplayer Doesn't support the combination Samsung CPU ATI Imageon chip, in Coreplayers forum their is a lot of information about that, they are trying to get info about the chip from ATI but no luck yet. Raw Framebuffer seems to work, but gives a really slow TCPMP/Coreplayer. Until the problems are solved I use to convert my movies to "Ipod" format .mp4 wihich Mediaplayer in Trinity supports through the ATI chip, an .mp4 file of 768kbps and 30fps runs smooth in WMP

MP4, huh? I'll have to try that out. WMV playback in Windows Media Player is still slow and sucks just like TCPMP/Coreplayer.
The main goal is to be able to use the hardware accelleration inside the X1. Or, only media player are able to!
Nor TCPMP or COREPLAYER use hardware.
But it was a pain in my ass to find a way to make a script able to convert a full directory fill with videos, with subtitles, and not to manage what is convert. And Free!
The way of thinking is:
I download a lot of free videos inside a unique directory, i have make this one the repository of my download.
I launch my script every night before sleeping
And I don't want to manage what is converted or not and i don't want to launch a application, i want something full auto...
So i make a full automation script.
I work under vista, so i'm not sure that's working under other windows.
it convert:
.avi
.mkv (with subtitles inside)
.flv
.mp4
.mpg
it takes subtitles:
.ass
.srt
.ssa
.mkv (it search inside itself)
to download:
http://dl.free.fr/qlBn0C2oj/ppc-conv.rar
clik on the "Télécharger ce fichier", sorry i'm french and don't know other file sender free
So how to do?
Extract the directory where you want
no need to setup anything
To convert:
1- you put your videos inside the dir VIDEOS
2- you start the "LANCE.BAT" inside main dir
3- you wait some hours
4- you transfer (with a copy! not a move) the .mp4 files inside the PMP dir on your X1
To clean when you have watch a video:
1- remove the files inside VIDEOS
2- on the next convert it will remove it from the PMP dir
Technical information:
Organization of the dir:
+---apps...........<- Main dir with the application
¦ +---.mplayer.....<- used by mencoder
¦ +---codecs.......<- used by mencoder
¦ +---mkvtoolnix...<- used for extract subtitles inside the mkv
¦ +---mplayer......<- used by mencoder
¦ ¦ +---conf.......<- used by mencoder
¦ ¦ +---font.......<- used by mencoder
¦ +---temp.........<- used for temporary step
+---pmp............<- where the final videos converted appears
+---temp...........<- used for temporary step
+---videos.........<- Where you put your videos and subtitles
Video are encoded into 640x360 1008kbit/s
Sound into aac 128kbit/s
works very fine in full screen
PS:
i share with you because i have try so much things and pass so much times to find a way, so i guess peharps someone else on earth wants this?
If you don't like it, don't download it
If you want more type of videos format send one to me and i will try
If you have problems says to me i will try to help but remember: it was a selfish script for me
Merci,
I will give it a try. I suppose that the settings wil give the greatest quality possible on an X1? ThanX once again

yes, i have try better resolution and better quality for no visual difference and much more lag.
With these parameters i'm on the border. sometimes some very high details scene are laggy
I bought core player. What are the best settings for it for the x1? Right now mine is on Outpu: qtv display
Video quality high
Smooth Zoom: only for 50%
Dither: off
Does it always use hardware acceleration or do I have to turn it on?
Thanks!

you cannot have hard accel with any other application than media player.
So you need to make a special mp4 file to be able to read it with it. It's the goal of my script
There is a huge gap in quality between them.
Really? I thought the whole point of core player was codecs and hardware aceeleration. I guess I'll give your script a go then.
Thanks.
even without hw acc, mine still playback a 800MB DivX/Xvid .AVI movies just fine with coreplayer.

core : qtv w tytn driver, high, dither/no = no real effect
buffers default except audio 128
sync audio w .avi in adv setting
vid xvid/divx around 600-650 x 300-350 res
bitrate around 800-1K kbps
audio mp3/aac 2chnl around 120kbps
it's not 100% smooth but enjoyable
I just tried Videora, a free iPod videoconverter.
Videora Website
Settings for Videora:
1. Power mode.
2. Choose File to convert.
3. Choose Destination Folder.
4. Choose a Title for the converted movie (Optional)
5. Choose Device = iPhone 3G
6. Choose Profile = MPEG4 480x320 768kbps Stereo/128kbit 2-Pass
7. Press Start Converting
Works really good, the video runs really smooth.

driver? does is it mean that you add something to your coreplayer?
no it's provided in coreplayer, in fact it's the default set in core if you're using qtv output in core.
try hard reset and install core again from fresh start; i've got some problems too a while ago and wasn't able to playback any video correctly at all; after hard reset those problems are gone.
Not to bug again about this, but doesn't CorePlayer not support Hardware acceleration on the XPeria? Doesn't Sony's player support it?
Many thanks nusul - I will give this a try! Appreciate your work on this
Tried to convert video but stript just flashes some opened windows but does nothing.
tried AVI/MP4 files in Video folder, no luck
Sorry, I have read this thread but I still have to ask for proper confirmation; you only get HW acceleration with Windows Media Player? So not when using the SE Media Experience panel?
I ask because I find the panel much faster when playing video than with Media Player (which takes at least the 1st five seconds of a movie to switch to landscape!!)

i have remove panel, so i cannot help you on this. But for me media player only take less than 1sec to switch in landscape.

i just try under a xp at office and it works fine.
I tried watching it with both media player and the player on the SE panel, both of them lag from time to time. It doesnt play smoothly.
i cant seem to dl the files, any other links?
Please Share your experiences.
For example:
1) What is the best video player ( coreplayer, tcpmp, others)
2) What is the best video output method in coreplayer and tcpmp ( Ati IMAGEON, direct draw, etc)
3) What is the best video format to play , xvid , wmv, divx, etc
4) What is the best resolution to play in athena
5) Is better to convert before play, or doesn't mater
6) Playing subtitles, , and flicker problems
7) others
tcpmp .081 Ati IMAGEON result is not good
but I do not know why
3) divx
5) 6) PocketDivxEncoder
I'm using AP4 rom and only use xcpuscalar (from immieresoft.com) @ 624 or 663MHz when viewing movies on TCPMP. Problems usually only occur when the Athena's auto cpu scaling changes speeds and xcpuscalar eliminates those changes.
To encode, I use dvdDecrypter to copy movies onto my hard-drive and AutoGordianKnot to convert to Xvid avi and set maximum width (advanced settings) to 640 and output size to Target quality 100%. The movies usually benchmark really close to 100% (sometimes slightly more or slightly less) and have minimal frame drops on most movies (the best was 7~13 out of 19,###).
I've been very happy with my x7501 lately...
My best setting's for TCMP 0.72 RC1 are:
Check:
ATI IMAGEON
DITHER
Unchek:
Smooth Zoom (only 50%)
Smooth Zomm (always)
Quality-> Normal
Video runs ok, good speed.
Subtiltes no so good (flicker problems)
I'm using TCPMP 0.71 with good results
My checked settings are:
Video >
Smooth Zoom (only 50%)
Quality normal
video > Raw Framebuffer
I also enabled Microdrive mode with a buffer of 16000KB
I also have these TCPMP plugins:
AC3
FFMPEG
Vorbis LQ
For Encoding nothing beats Pocket DivX encoder.
Cheers!
I think, ATI Imageon (using "ati3200.plg" plugin for TCPMP, or internal ATI-plugin in Core Player (turn OFF hardware acceleration for nice work)) chosen as a video driver - the best solution. It shows the best results in benchmark, better than Raw Framebuffer or Direct Draw. But if you use Core Player (TCPMP) with ATI Imageon driver after using camera, you must reboot (soft-reset) your device for normal work of driver. And remember - turn flag off from "hardware acceleration" in Core Player (video).
DVD-rips plays good.
ATI-plugin for TCPMP attached here:
Using CorePlayer ver.1.1.3 & TCPMP 0.72+ATI Driver3200.
Both have a problem: DELAYED VOICE SOUND after 1-2 minutes playing.
Any suggestions?
It looks to me that, for the same divx, divx player mobile has far a better quality than tcpmp.
Unluckily it does not support subs.
What r the best settings for tcpmp on hd2?
cheers
Not to be random have you tried coreplayer.
TCPMP was coded by those working on Coreplayer now I believe and they no longer support or update it?
I have been using Coreplayer for years now with outstanding results.
Not tried Divx player mobile as I have not had a reason too.

There are no "best" settings, everyone will have their own individual preference. I normally use zoom: best fit, orientation: left-handed, video renderer: DirectDraw, Dither: on, Smooth zoom: always, DirectDraw overlay format: YUY2, use device stretching when blitting: on, overlay with colorkey: off, use blitting instead of overlays: off. That may interfere with subtitles, though.

isn't GDI/rawbuffer the only method to watch videos in tcpmp on the hd2?
GDI if u need subs, which I do sometimes, otherwise direct draw I believe.
What I see is that with divx player mobile the image is very crisp and detailed, while with tcpmp it'svery pixelated
I didn't know there was a mobile Divx player, I use TCPMP for now.
I just downloaded Divx Mobile player, the image indeed looks better, but I have no sound at all, it lacks ac3 support ?
yep no ac3 support and no subs but image is the best so far, better than tcpmp and coreplayer

If TCPMP looks pixellated it may be because you aren't using the right settings. Not using "smooth zoom always" or running in GDI mode without switching on Dither will have that effect, for example.
