I think the only way do run a 32GB card is to make a romupdate, Its mostly a software issue.
PS Sorry for my bad english. I make every effort

I'm pretty sure it'll work! Just as long as the SDHC drivers are up to date.
Will this work in a SE X1, I'm assuming the OS has the drivers, yes?

You've likely bought a fake which is a 4Gb formatted to make it look like a 32Gb one. Send it back to eBay.

Exactly. It may say '32gb' on the label, even your computer or phone may show it has 32gb of free space, but it's a fake. And you won't find out until you put more data on it than it can really hold (possibly 4gb or even less).
Ebay + memory cards = dangerous combination. Whenever a new, higher capacity is announced but not available yet, the frauds move in and target those too impatient to wait until legitimate retailers get the real stuff. Beware.

Ummm, no, you can't by 64GB cards, SDHC only supports up to 32GB...
@nelsonong: You've likely bought a fake MicroSD. However, you should try to run a file system error check on the card before you come to any conclusions, as file system errors are often the cause of disappearing MicroSD cards in these devices. If your computer recognizes it when you plug it into your computer, and you're running Windows, simply go to My Computer and right click on your card. Select "Properties", then the "Tools" tab, then choose "Check now..." under "Error Checking", and run the error check with both boxes checked. It may take a long time, and if it doesn't complete, try it with only the first box checked. If your card is genuine and the error check completed successfully, then it should show up just fine on your Blackstone.

Being that it's geniune, it'll successfully write out data to the size it's claimed to be... If it's fake, it'll write data to it's true size and the slowly stop responding and take longer and longer to write data to the card, because of the renamed surfaces that were written to appear as a size that they are not...

Thanks for any useful answers. I just dont want to have to go and exchange after buying.

It supports microSDHC up to 32GB (when it's released).
yup, I'm using a 16gb micro SDHC card (can't wait for the 32gb to become available!)
I bought an 8gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card on Amazon for £14 and it works great in the X1
Thanks, peeps. I was thinking about getting 2 8Gb cards, so i'll probably check out Amazon, amongst others.
I find 2 cards better than just 1 for my own needs. Thats kinda why i needed confirmation of HC support.
Thanx again, and stay happy, all.

For me its kinda easy to lose those small cards. I have one in my phone and one in my laptop for ready boost and I always seem to forget there is a 4gig in my laptop.

I haven't noticed something like that. At least with PocketPlayer.
Micro SDHC Class 2 or 6 ?
Hi,
AFAIK the 16 GB Micro SDHC are currently only available with Class 2 speed.
Is this sufficient for the X1 ?
Or is there any advantage using a Class 6 Micro SDHC ?
AFAIK these are currently only available upto 8 GB like the SanDisk Mobile Ultra series.
Any recommendations?
Thanks you.

Andreas
I`m not sure if you know, Leo is coming with 8 Gb SDHC enclosed...
I really doubt it. They never gave memory cards with their phones and I haven't read it anywhere. It's just going to be the carger, a link cable and some brochures....

Not true. HTC bundled 8GB SDHC MicroSD Memory Cards with all their Touch HDs.
I have also heard they will be supplying a 2GB MicroSD Memory Card with all HD2s.

Hey guys,
Whats the largest micro sd I can place in my Leo... Currently have an 8 GB in there but am quickly filling it since having movies / music on it like no tomorrow!!
Any help would be great, thanks dudes.
You didn't find the answer anywhere on the net? In that case, they can hold a max of 128GB.

I've got a 16GB in mine and it works perfectly. I'll get a 32GB but want the price to drop before I do. They're still quite pricey.
16GB is suiting me fine. I have a seperate 8GB one for putting movies and stuff on. It just means I have to have CorePlayer installed on the device so I can switch cards and still play movies.
Edit:
Ignore the above comment by lude219. 128GB cards won't be available until next year at the earliest. 32GB is currently the largest on the market. There will be 64GB (and possibly 48GB) soon, but not yet.
Thank you johncmolyneux, I think I might wait a bit and get a 32gb just to be sure!
Thanks for your help dude.

can't find any 32gb micro sds on amazon or ebay? only normal sized SDHC cards.
Samsung expect their 32GB to be in the market by February according to their recent announcement, I expect Sandisk will want to be released for sale by then also.
Class 6 cards are available from non-Sandisk manufacturers by the way.
im guessing the will charge a ridculous amount...probs about £50 or some ****
16 Gb is the maximum today.
There is NO 32 gb on the market at this time, but expected.

is that because of hardware or software? i had an old HTC Excalibur that ran winmo 5.0 back in the day. got a 8 gig card that wouldn't read in it until i flashed it to winmo 6.5. after that, it read the card no problem. funny thing is the 'fine folks' over at T-Mobile assured me that nothing over 4GB would ever work in my phone.
so i wonder, with our devices being able to run winmo, android, different variations of linux, etc... could it be just a software problem?
The HTC HD2 can only hold up to a 32 gig 2.0 Micro SD card. Click the link for proof, notice the "Expansion" in the spec list, oh yeah this is straight from HTC.

interesting info
so i started surfing around, looking for more info on this topic. i found a thread from another forum citing some interesting conversation regarding the same issue. to quote from page 5 of that forum...
"What the SD 4.0 specification will add is another pin to SDXC cards which will enable the higher read/write speeds. The rest of the pins will still be present and will still act exactly like they used to. So SDXC cards will always be compatible with SDHC readers, you just won't be able to read/write from them at 300mbit/s. And that's where a firmware update can't change things; no firmware update will allow the camera to use an SDXC card at its full, currently-non-existent future speed because that extra pin interface won't be present.
'But a firmware update CAN add support for exFAT, so all the other benefits of SDXC can in fact be added to our cameras through a firmware update. These benefits include higher capacities, larger maximum file size, and faster file deleting (because that's an exFAT feature, not an SDXC feature).
'It should be noted that the higher capacities have nothing to do with exFAT. FAT32 can have volumes up to 2 TB in size. The 32GB limit on SDHC cards was artificially imposed by the SD 2.0 specification, and has now been lifted with SD 3.0. However, the larger maximum file size IS a benefit of exFAT, because files used to be limited to 4 GB on FAT32."
so i gotta think this will also apply to any other device that can physically run an SDHC card.
let the debate begin

Hmmmm interesting conversation there, I read all six pages by the way. The one guy seemed to be pretty sure of himself. But from what he said if you use a SDXC card that uses extFAT in a decice that does not support extFAT. It will reformat it with Fat 32 making it a regular SDHC card without the extra advantage of the higher speeds that a SDXC reader that does support extFAT can use.
right, that's what i got out of it too. but the big bonus there is that even with the reformat, the space on that card is still accessible, be it 'just' sdhc speeds. that's ok though, cuz that's what we're used to. i'd really like some of the xda developers to take a look at this and see what they can do.
on a somewhat related note, there's a program i use on my laptop called 'macdrive' which allows me to view previously unrecognized files and partitions which windows doesn't see naturally. this allows me to tri-boot (linux, mac, and windows) and modify each of those partitions from any one of the systems.
point here, is that even if there is initially a problem reading the data on a sdxc card, it seems that problem is only with the software not hardware and therefore can be modified.
if i could program i'd start experimenting myself.

This is very true, and I am in the same boot as you. I wish I had the dev knowledge and skills to start working on something for this, or a real dev could get there hands on this and see what is possible. I guess the only true way to put this to the test is for someone to get there hands on one of these beast of a SD card (64 to 128 gig what ) and stick it in the HD2 to see what it does.
I have two 2gb micro sd cards and recently purchased a 16gb micro sdhc. They all read fine in my a500, but the 16gb gets fire hot after just a short time (~60 secs) and the two 2gb cards keep at a nice temp. Is this just a bad card or an issue with my tab? Any ideas?

That's odd, they shouldn't get more than luke warm at worst. Could well be a short circuit in the card. If possible go and try another similar one or try the card in another device and see if the problem persists.
If it's an option, return the 16 for an exchange and test the new one before you leave the store. What brand is it?

I purchased it from walmart, so ill see what they say at customer service about checking it before i leave.
Its made by sandisk.
Worst case take your tablet with you and just test it in the car after you buy it. Does the same thing, walk back in and exchange it. Sandisk is a quality brand, so if you get 2 in a row doing it it's bad luck. Maybe try a different Wal-Mart or a PNY card.
It IS possible - I have a class 10 here that gets hot when i transfer a large number of files (or 1 big file) to it.
It's doing that at about 44Mb / sec, maybe it's just that the speed, like with a CPU, is causing the heat build up??

No sadly, i just tested it again, i rebooted my tab and put the card in, within 15-20sec i pulled it out and cou;d barely touch it. Im taking it back this morning so ill let everyone know what happens
yeah, that's waay to hot - mine gets warm, not that hot!
Something is wrong
I use my MicroSD slot on my a500 often - it never gets anything more then slightly warm to the touch. Would consider returning your a500 if possible - assuming you have tested a few diff brands/sources of MicroSD card.
I returned it with no problem, I bought a pny this time, little more expensive but so far I haven't had any problems, it's at a normal unnoticeable temp

But my new one works great, ive checked it a few times today and it hasnt been hot at all. This one im using now is a class 4

It's possible in had some sort of short or shunt inside - you might have found that you would not be able to put a full 16G or whatever on it. (like one of the fake ones off EBay..)
Glad to hear you got it all fixed though.

I just had one of the chinese fakes sent to me from this Finnish EBay-like site, though the seller himself didn't know either that they were fakes. I actually could copy as much stuff on the card as I wanted, but only the first 1 Gigabytes was actually working; the firmware on it had been modified to just update the FAT32 header but ignore all the data Neat trick and would easily fool anyone less-knowledgeable.

Yea, the chinks are crafty these days. You'd think for all the work they gotta do to hack and make the card look like 16GB they'd just make a real damn 16GB card.

You gotta think side-ways - with cheap 8/16/32 gig cards out now, they probably have ****-loads of 1/2/4 gig cards sitting around.
It's only a minor bios or spd module flash to make it think it's 8 or 16 Gig, then they sell is as such.
Gets rid of all the wasted 1/2/4 gig cards AND makes them money!

A lot of Sandisk 32 and 64Gb cards have issues with both S3's and S4's.
Apparently those manufactured after 12/2012 no longer have this issue, but theres no way to tell their manufacture date.
Try and get it exchanged where you bought it.
I use and recommend Samsung cards, and have never had any problems with them.
Yes, they cost a little more, but the stuff I keep on them is irreplaceable, and I couldnt afford to lose 1 days work.
Also I recommend installing SD card monitor from Play.

It will tell you how many times your card has unmounted erroneously.
