ok ive just hspl'd my phone because im getting quite bored of it and wanted to try somethink i wasnt sure what this would do will it make any changes? it looked good
installing hspl won't in itself do anything. it just stops the phone running checks when you try to install roms, meaning you can instal roms not from your provider, or better yet, cooked roms.
go h have a really good read of the hspl sticky threads in the rom development section.

yea that's what a forum database that is already bloated and struggling to cope needs, pointless embedded images.

Says who?
If the forum is going to fall over because of a few embedded images, perhaps a ban on "pointless" sig pics would be a better place to start.

No you haven't definitely lost your warranty. If there's a problem, simply flash the original SPL back and you'll be fine. If you can't flash it back, then you may be in trouble, but this is unlikely.
I don't know how many Hard SPL'ed phones I've returned under warranty, but I've never had an issue.
As samsamuel said, putting hard spl on the phone enables you to install ROMs by the Chefs here on XDA, so have a look at the ROM threads, and once you've got one you'd like to try, back up your data and give it a go.
Only warning is that you may get addicted to flashing roms.
According to a report published in the latest British Medical Journal, XDA ROM flashing is 85% as addictive as crack.

I would suggest completely killing the stock Tmobile ROM and installing one of the available custom ROMs. OpenTouch, TouchIT (wing versions) or my own cleanROM. Which reminds me... I have to fix the link on my siggy with the newest version...
Anyhow, you'll gain LOTS more storage, memory, features and performance. And a prettier background as well. ;-)
That picture there would be a wallpaper, shiny black bars, htc home and batterystatus all together.
how easy is it to install those roms you are talking about....? is it just downloading the cab to your phone and starting the application through the phone and it'll do the rest.....? or would i actually have to do some edits and what not with actual codes ?
so the picture i put up is just the same thing as the TouchIT rom?
its not that hard to install but always get the original rom so that if you mess up you can also reflash back to stock
It's easy, just follow the instructions CAREFULLY to the T, I got my new phone and had it unlocked and flashed with a new ROM within 20 minutes of taking it out of the box...
cool, thanks guys , i really like the one that i posted, and i showed it to one of my friend's who has a HTC mogul, and he was like "that looks like it would kill the RAM, and slow things down"...i hope that's not true...
any good writeups/guides on how to install these roms.........? i am not liking this stock tmobile interface lol
as it was said follow the instructions to a T. its not hard at all at most takes 15 mins...
1. pick out the rom you want to use, lets say itje's touch it 4.4 and download it to your computer or pick from this delightful list All WM6 Roms for the atlas/herald/wing [21.Jan.2008]
sometimes it will come with its own installer other times u have to find the installer programs yourself...
2. once you find the rom that you want you have to decided how your going to get it on there, either with the installer that came with it or a different process and to do that i would say to look at this tread A Herald's Guide to Flashing Aserg, USPL and HARD-SPL
that link will explain everything u need to know about installing a new rom and how to get it on your wing/herlad/atlas whatever they call this thing now adays.... lol
Happy modding
and oh yeah... whatever mod you use will sure to be WAY better then the t-mo stock one, to many memory leaks
the Powershell and Sendkeys wont pass when i am trying to root with fresh kitchen. Should i use cmd instead of Powershell??

Don't think you need to start a new thread for every question just ask in the last one you started.Don't mean that in bad way just tryin to help.
Also the kitchen has built in help and it tells you exactly what to do. If sendkeys is failing it will link you to the download to get it. It tells you that if you can't install it for any reason then to just use cmd.

There was a pop up message waiting for you to acknowledge it. It may have been hidden. I wouldn't recommend trying to rush through as you are trying to leave though.
This guy has been over on androidforums.com and we have tried to help him there too. He asks the same thing over and over in multiple threads over there as well. Not sure what the deal is . We've pointed him in the direction for rooting and everything on it, even told him to read and research etc.
i am sorry i am just a worried person and i am really new to this whole rooting thing.. SORRY
You don't have to apologies. I think a lot of people are worried, and new to the scene. But I do suggest taking your time and the advice everyone is giving you. There are a lot of good guides/tutorials out there, you just have to read them. Take your time and read. Do not rush it, as that is what causes problems.
yeah because i did and i lost everything my contacts and my apps. Is there anyway i can get them back i made a nandroid too??

Boot back into the recovery.. do restore nand. You'll have your stuff back..
As far as your contacts go, you should be using a google account to store them... That way, when you flash a new rom, you wont have to enter in your contacts every time... Even if this is the sole purpose of your google account.. its worth it.
It struck me that since we can access the bootloader to place a ROM image onto the phone could we not access the bootloader, (or a modified bootloader), that would "suck" the entire image of the phone, (and SD Card too would be nice though that could be imaged independently), off onto a PC.
It would be a nice backup and would be brilliant for "fiddlers" like me that want to make changes but want a quick and accurate method to go back if I don't like it.
Is there any reason why this couldn't be done? It would be a most powerful backup system.
The question is too difficult, eh?
Hmm, thats not possible. Haven't seen anyone did it.

Sprite backup (others are available) is probably as close as you'll get to a quick revert app.
I have sprite backup... I don't think that it is a ROM image though... It would be nice to image the current system bit for bit and the Radio too would be nice.
Happy to be corrected on the "I don't think that it is a ROM image though" thing...
did an extensive search on that topic in xda and general google: no outcome !
There seems to be no method to extract the entire rom/radio directly from a wm device although this would make flashing cooked roms for trial and revert to stock or previous rom a "blink of the eye".
wonder why nobody developed sashimi further to do this job .........
I looked at Sashimi and, unless I missed something, it's really a batch script that automates the reinstallation of applications etc. after you change ROMs fro example...
I was just hoping there was a way, while you are in bootloader, (and therefore have complete contol of the phone but without opening any files in the ROM or Radio), you could not remotely image the phone.
Oh well, if there's anyone out there that has a better understanding of these things it would be a great piece of work...
All I can suggest is that CHTS and XUA etc. can make it less than a 10-min job between flashes now, but I agree a complete back-up would be very ueful.

"is probably as close as you'll get" Is as straightforward and accurate an answer as you are likely to get.
If it was as straight forward you make it sound, don't you think a man like Cotula who knows our devices inside out would have already released such a tool?
don't you think a man like Cotula

I can tell you now that you should post ALL info from your fastboot screen.
Can you get into recovery?
What were you doing to cause your phone to do this?

He included a picture of his phone in fastboot, I think that would qualify as providing all his fastboot info.
This has been answered SO MANY TIMES now... like 5 times THIS week alone...
You don't even have to do a search... just look at the first 2 pages.. Come on!
I think you can fix this by only looking at the first 8 posts or so...
Jeez... another one?
Use fastboot to flash the recovery.
Reboot to recovery, flash stock (s-on) spl
Flash rom.
The 3 phenoms back to back to back. I know he included a picture, but can't really see it.
BTW, I love being able to hook up two phones. When things get boring with one, the other is willing and ready.

I rooted my Magic before a few days ago, put some ROMs 2.1 update1 and everything is working correctly. When I tried to put any coocked
Froyo rom did not work. Then I threw in a last-ver.SPL 1.71 (it seems to me, but otherwise it was 6.35 ... working with SPL 1.6) Recovery mode is
changed and installation Froyo (Magician 6.1 I believe) was duly passed, but the problems emerging. Phone could not normally turned on and I could go into Recovery and fastboot. However the installation of any Rom was impossible. Radio has changed (I think it happened after the trial
Vodafone launch 2.2.1. ver.) at 2.22. I tried to go back to the SPL and 1.33 Since then I have more or Recovery Mode or Safe Mode. When you turn on
(my version of Magic is 32A) phone only appears HTC Magic no reaction on the computer when it shackles via USB. I guess what I was wrong (SPL's) but how it if possible to save?
P.S. Sorry for my bad english ...
It might not been completely on topic, but I hope is okay.
When I am browsing HD2 forums, every ROM have information on what partition layout I need. However, when I'm browsing forums for other devices, I cannot see any such information on ROM.
How do other devices handle partition sizes? Can ROM do it from clockwork while installing? If yes, why this does not work on HD2?
