Most Frequently Called ? - Nexus One General

Go to your contacts , look at your favorites... is the "Frequently called" still there ?
I dont see mine. I want to be sure before I rejoice.

What? Why rejoice?
I think it only shows if you call someone a lot. I remember seeing the HTC number there (LOL ) and being unable to remove it. So it may pop up again if you call someone a lot. Does anyone have it there?

Mine is still there... I only have 1 favorite... I am going to mess around and see what happens if I add in more, if the frequent list gets smaller or goes away?

Yup, as you add favorites the # of frequently called goes down... it seems 7 is the magic #, once you have 7 favorites there are no more frequently called shown, and if you have less than 7, it shows as many frequently called as it takes to total 7 #'s in both lists combined; ie 7-5 favs=2 frequently called

Hmmmm.... maybe my frequently called people all ended up favorited?.... yup! If I remove one of my favorites(I ended up setting 10 too) that was at the top of my frequent list, my lady, the frequent #'s list comes back with the 1 entry... if I take away the next most called, I now have 2 in the frequent list, 8 in favs list... add in some random #'s as favs, up to 15 favs, and still have those 2 frequent showing.... add those 2 freq back to the favs list, they go away from freq and add to the favs...

Just install Wysie's contacts and hide the most frequently called. That is, if it bothers you.

Argh guess it is still there.
That page is too cluttered. Should be an option to turn off/on.
I used to use Log assist pro but it hasnt been updated in forever.
I may try wysiescontacts. Im terrified of Phone/Contact apks ever since one of them locked up on me and refused to dial out.
Oh well.

Come on man... it's not really that big of a deal. Cluttered? I think you're exaggerating. Besides, if you have more than 7-8 favorites, you don't even see the frequently called list unless you scroll.

At the moment I have 7 favourites and 8 frequently called.

Yes.
I only keep 5 faves.
Never said it was a big deal. Just a peeve of mine.
The "frequently called" seems rather counter intuitive.
If I wanted them to be readily accessible I would simply touch the star on the contact.
Some people dont like it for privacy reasons.
As with most things I would just like the option to on/off. I wouldnt want them to remove it altogether.

SMS 'TAP TO COMPOSE YOUR TEXT' Problem

Is anyone else experiencing this when attempting to reply to a sms message.
The message 'Tap to compose your text' appears but it wont let me 'tap'. I have to wait for about 10 seconds before tapping the screen actually allows me to compose a reply.
Yes, I have delays in the text messaging app. It is very laggy. I can be typing and press a key 3 or 4 times before it registers.
Cheers, I've just figured it out, the issue only happens when I have lots of messages to load in a conversation. It doesn't occur when its a short conversation with one or two messages in.
i think its a known bug keep your conversation list down by backing up on myphone is a suggestion i read somewhere, then you can delete on your phone without losing them completely
hope thats helpful
yes its all do do with the amount of messages in the "thread" but even if i've got say 100 messages in a convo ....whys it lag so much ??? its only loading kilobytes of info... and for the spec of the phone i find this poor coding very annoying !!!!!!!!!!!!
if you look bottom right of the screen (just right of the paper clip) you'll see a thin grey line decreasing . When that's finished you can tap and type. And yes the more sms you have the more the delay.
I have the sams problem. I have over 500 texts under some contacts. and It's a big waiting game to answer a text.
I dont understand why HTC have choosen to load ALL texts. the last 20 would have been enough.
In the new ROM 1.48 the problem is the same.

Oh man, that sucks was hoping it would be fixed there
I'm actually beginning to get a little dissapointed by the official rom
I love tweaking stuff etc... but having problems with something every other phone handles perfectly like SMS is ridiculous.

Has anyone actually fed this into HTC to make them aware of the issue so they know it is everyone who is complaining and not just a select few?

Well, I've actually reported this today, as I am sick of it
I wonder if HTC uses their own phones they make...
I think they made it for people like me who delete every sms at the end of the day. Don't get mad, just a joke but that's really what I do unless I need to keep it for reference in which case I copy it to an alarmed note.
It's a rather strange issue. I have several lengthy conversations (not 500 messages long, of course, but with dozens of them), and all but one load instantly and the keyboard pops up also instantly. One of them is incredibly laggy, although it's like 10 messages long. The only difference I see is that the other person has a contact picture attached and she is my wife.
Perhaps is there a way (cab, setting, ...) to makes auto-delete messages after a certain limit (for example, delete messages when there's more than 50...) ? Already looked in settings, but didn't found that..
Here are work-arounds for the SMS lag problem...
Option 1:
when the SMS conversation is building (the gray bar is shrinking), just click the SEND button. It will prompt "This message is blank...", then click No, and it will go back to the SMS conversation -- but this time, there is no lag and you can start typing after pressing the "Tap here to compose text"
Option 2:
if there is one or two persons that you exchange lots of SMS with, put them as a Quick Link (to SMS) on the front page. That way, when you press the Quick Link, it starts a direct SMS composition without dialogue, and thus no lag.
Can't wait till HTC properly fix this!
Enjoy!

[Q] Samsung Diagnosis App [Solved]

Hello,
I'm receiving an app update through WP7 Marketplace to get an update for Samsung Diagnosis.
However, when I go to get the update from the Marketplace, it gives me the following message:
"Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while."
Anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone gotten this error yet?

Yep, same here. I also have a constant pending update for some Reversi program that's not actually on my phone because there's two in the marketplace with the same name. My guess in both instances is that Microsoft is still trying to get it right at their end since there's nothing I can do about either at my end. I'm not resetting my phone over this so I just ignore them.

I like it a lot and, after the usually painful transition, I haven't missed the iPhone 4 at all. I think this marketplace thing is probably the worse issue I've seen, which isn't bad, and it hasn't restarted by itself or anything since I bought it. In fact, I even have a Sandisk class 2 8GB card in it and it's worked without a hitch since taking it out of the box. I have about a week to return it but so far I've had no reason to do so.

Same here. My experiences have been the same as yours. But instead of going from iPhone 4, I went from iPhone 3GS. The only downside is there aren't must options when it comes to cases and such, but that's to be expected for a platform that hasn't taken off yet. The only problem I am having so far is getting used to the keyboard. Since it's weirder then the iPhone 4, I'm used to pressing the letters closer together and on the WP7, I tend to make more mistakes, but that's something I'll get used to.

LOL...guess that explains why it doesn't download. That's...let's see....8 times the monthly cap imposed by Comcast reidential. Good job, Microsoft!
Oh...I forgot to mention, that's one of three updates stuck in the marketplace for me now. It was Diagnosis and a Reversi app and now there's another Reversi app. This one actually downloaded and installed, then it never showed up in the list of installed apps and it shows up in the marketplace list every other time I start the app. "I assume Microsoft knows...." is starting to sound like a bad assumption. Guess I should call their teacher and ask that she keep them after class for their own good.

I was having the same issue until I realized I could slide my finger over the keyboard and release when the key I wanted was highlighted.
Did you know you can also hold your finger down for a moment, and you get a cursor, which you can then slide around to insert whereever you want, like the middle of a word. Makes editing easier.

I have been looking for that since 11/18. Knew it had to be there, but don't remember seeing it in the instructions...
.......aw, who am I kidding? I didn't read the instructions.
Awesome tip Man, Thanks!!!
I had used the ##634# to get into the Diagnosis menu. It now shows up as an App in my start menu. If I "Uninstall" it, will I lose access to it in the future? Will uninstalling it delete the application itself, or just the Start Menu Shortcut?
Is there another way to remove this shortcut without uninstalling?
Just removes shortcut

Uninstall just removes the icon, typing the code on the dial pad again brings the app/icon back.
Just tested on my own focus to confirm.

On your Windows Live you can link facebook to hotmail to get facebook feed and contacts. But when you get them together and then add facebook on your phone again it can get messy
Its usually not a problem. If you go into setting and swipe to applications and choose people. You can set facebook information only to add to existing contacts rather than having all of them in your phone book.
Best tip touch and hold and find the extra things you could do
Best way to find out more is to go on youtube and see demos and previews by microsoft

Only thing you need to know for smartphones these days is swipe up and down, left and right, press and press and hold.
Dont be affraid to press every single function and explore it.
Since my first phone ive yet only found one i couldnt use That was a cheap 70 quid Samsung phone from my friend damn things was horrible.
But smartphones are so easy to use these days its nothing hard.
If you want to post your facebook status from people hub click on your picture in the pic hub, that will bring you to your fb wall. Then click again on your status or pic to post your status in Facebook or in Windows Live

Same thing there.
Have been fixed already
This is a bug like in 2.8.28 before, RocketDial did not wait longer enough for the database to finish storing the number. from 2.8.28, the problem has gone.

[Q] Tapping

I have clumsy fingers (essential tremor-inherited). Maybe I was a dummy getting a tablet.
But tapping on icons (like the Chrome icon) is frustrating. My finger is right on top of it. But I have to do it 3 or 4 times often.
My nexus 10 could be funky, but probably it is me. You don't double tap do you?
Sometimes I think my tap is too long or too short.
It might be you.
Check to see if the Nexus 10 is registering your "taps" as "drags" to move the homescreen.

Using the Dolphin Browser, you are supposed to swipe your finger left and right to get to bookmarks. Sometimes it works with hard swipes.
Sometimes not.

How does Google Play diagnose problems with your tablet? I've never heard of anything like this...?
I'm interested in that too.
There is also an option in the developers setting to see where the touch points are registering that you can check.
