SU Request - Blank Screen problem

I've been trying to sort this out for hours.....
Not sure what's happened, but whenever I try and run a root app, I get the SU Request screen, and it's blank....I can't allow or anything.
Anyone help ? please ?

Have you set debug mode ?
menu>setting>application>development>usb debugging (check)

same here. I am trying to change my lockscreen. Running fresh 2.0b2

having the same problem all the sudden...I nandroided to a good one and its working fine again.
did you try and install Quickboot? that was where it went south for me.
I pushed the reboot zip to system/bin/ and the got the blank SU screen.

to remove the lockscreen you go into command prompt and type this (but don't type the # sign, it just shows up.
Code:
cd <insert path to your android sdk here>
adb remount
adb shell
# cd /system/app/
# rm HtcLockScreen*
# reboot

is there an easier way.

[How To] Install new voice search and quick search

ONLY WORKS WITH ANDROID 2.2 (FROYO)
For those of you that don't know, Google released a new Voice Search that allows "actions". For more info go Here.
First off, I wanna thank Tsenru, klinster, devlogic, BinaryMan, and Synchromatic @ the CM forum for all the info.
This is instructions for ubuntu so make the proper adjustments for windows if needed.
From ADB

adb pull /system/app ~/Desktop/app/
adb remount
adb shell rm -f /system/app/VoiceSearch.apk
adb shell pm uninstall com.google.android.voicesearch
adb shell rm -f /system/app/GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
adb shell pm uninstall com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
Once this is done you can search market for "voice search" and "google search" then after they're installed, reboot.
Now for the next step.
If the search hard key doesn't bring up the quick search box (keyboard input), do this.

adb shell ln -s /data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk /system/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.apk
adb reboot
Now all should work!
I had a wierd name for quick search box (com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1) so keep that in mind if you have any issues.
Now enjoy you fancy new voice search!

rm failed for -f, Read-only file system

Rather then using the command adb shell mv /data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox /system/app
I suggest the command ln -s /data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk /system/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.apk
ln -s creates a symbolic link to the file rather then moving the file. It keeps the google search file where the installer put it. If you move the file are you causing an issue in the future when the next upgrade comes around?

Not having much luck reactivating the search button.
I can confirm that it got the job done cause when I tried again, it popped up an error that the file already exists, so it succeeded in creating the link... any suggestions?

what does adb shell PM uninstall do as opposed to adb shell uninstall

If you have TB, uninstall voice search and google search from backup/restore, then reboot phone and go to market install both, worked for me

thanks that worked and it was way easier than adb.

I'd love to have this feature, but I get "failure" when I enter the adb shell pm uninstall com.google.android.voicesearch command. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, except that I have no idea what the difference between Ubuntu and Windows commands are.

EDITED: I got it working. Not sure how. Even though I got a "failure" during the adb uninstall, the old voice search appears to have uninstalled already. Went to the market and downloaded the new app and it works!

Used SUFBS (or any file explorer). Went to system/app and deleted voicesearch.apk, rebooted, went to market and downloaded voice search

'cp' command missing after perma-root

I was trying to make a backup of my build.prop via terminal, but after su, I get a
"cp: not found" error. Anyone else getting this? Anyone know how to fix?

I asked in the permaroot thread but no response... I guess you can just use root explorer to find and copy that file to wherever you wanted to place it?

Eh. I don't want another app that I shouldn't need. I would resort to that for now, but I don't know of a free root explorer app... suggestions?

Great alternative till this gets fixed. Thanks! FYI for others that may use this, you have to enable root permissions in the option menu.

figured it out, I installed busybox and it granted me cp access

i downloaded busybox but still no cp

I just rooted my phone using rage instead of visionary from this thread:

When you open the app did you install the latest version of busybox?

Download busybox from market then install within the program and you are golden!

Did you check it is r/w and not r/o?

I dont know how to check that is r/w ..

1.7 is already rooted...you dont need to install any of those apps...

2.When I gonna install New GMaps app in the end of installation it show "application not installed"
3.Reboot device & try to install,still getting same result!

Our on the right path so far.. But the way I've always used adb I kinda dragged everything to the tools folder...I have the library and everything else there...try putting it on our tools folder and see what happens if not check the platform tools.. Just drop the map apk and try it out.

Why is that?Even root explorer,i can't move apps to system/app (even mount as R/W)!Why is that?

Hmm.. even root explorer.. that's strange you mean mount R/W to R/O in root explorer..
from my end i first did c:\androidsdk then was able to adb push etc...what i could suggest is wait for the signed version.. am on samsung galaxy t989, am at work, i can't really access nothing right now to check with you...i have my mytouch 4g at home...i know you have root access because you said you were able to backup and uninstall using titanium backup.. so i guess you have root access...but try the mount r/w to r/o and see what happens...

You can make the system r/w.

i know that's not the exact code but it works just fine for me.

1. You can use Rom manager to backup..

2. Busybox is a great tool for rooted users. It basically give you more linux / Unix based commands that you normally don't have access to. If you Google busybox you can find more info...

Hey I just found this app from market

It can mount system folder!Now I can copy apps!Yahooooo!Ah!I've set permission to this Gmaps app & rebooted device.But it is still not visible.But it is in system/app folder How I make this visible/install?
