copy and paste option which normally activated when you hold your finger on a text and allow you to select all text and copy it then paste is suddenly disappeared in my HD2
is there any way to restore this function again other than hard reset

as example now when i hold my finger on a text of sms nothing happen
but before when i hold on sms there was a small menu giving me the option to select all text and copy it then i can paste it in another application like email
I'm also on rom 1.48, but never had this problem.
what were the latest apps you installed?
and before you do a hard reset, maybe also upgrade to rom1.66 at the same time ;-) (if it has been released for your language at least)

the button thats on the upper left side of the 8125 isn;t working anymore!?
when i press it, nothing happens, it normally brings up an option to let me enable or diable stuff. wtf is going on?

PS. i installed AE Button Plus, but i didn't know how to edit my buttons and removed it, so i think installig it removed that wifi button.

came someone help? i really want to restore this badly, i hate pulling out the stylus to enable my wifi and blue etc... (i have big fingers, i can't press the little icon on the lower right hand corner)
that button bought me straight to the menu.
i don't know what the butto is called, but it's located on the left side, and its on the the upper left.

Hi, yes its called the comm button - button 5.
Try - goto settings\buttons and see if you can reassign button 5 to comm.
If button 5 has dissappeared from the list then ae button plus has screwed it up - like it did for me and I had to hard reset - darn!

I am not saying you have to do a hard reset - try the other advice first.
There is possibly a registry tweak to correct it - but i dont know it. If you have to hard reset this advice will make it easier.
Create backup of windows\start menu - most programs that are on the storage card dont need a reinstall.
Create copy of pim.vol in the root directory of the device - contains contact and appt information. After flash change the new pim.vol to pim.vo and copy and paste old pim.vol (use total commander or gsfinder file explorers for this) and soft reset and you will have info back.
Create backup of windows\favorites - for all your internet favorites.
You can backup your voice tag database between hard resets by copying the file CommandModel1.bin found under the windows folder to your pc or to the memory card. After rom upgrade copy it back to your windows folder and all your voice tags are back!
That will make restore a bit quicker than otherwise.
Found the registry key - if you can check this - HKLM\software\microsoft\shell\keys\40C6
40C6 is button 5 and if not there needs to be added. There are a few dwords that will need to be added as well if deleted.

can anybody tell me how to copy and paste text in sms body?? I dont know why when I tap and hold the sms body textbox, the copy and paste options are always disabled... any ideas??

did you try to select some text you want to copy and then use the keyboard with <control> C and <control> V
just as you would do on a desktop

CTRL is not on the text-board, but it is on your tap-keyboard.. push the words in on your touchscreen...
Be sure that after you've selected the text you want to copy, click and hold on the selection itself, not on a blank part of the screen. Then the copy function won't be greyed out.

I have tried it, it did not work!!! O also tried <control> +c, <control +v> and with no luck

I used Soft Key to change the shortcut @ the bottom of my screen i only wanted to change Calendar to New SMS, But when i started the Program it made me change both soft keys & Contacts is not in the list. Now i have New SMS & anything but Contacts.
Any body else had this problem? or does anyone have a fix for this????

Contacts is not in that list either.......Weird......

Learn to use the registry. The keys you are looking for are in:
HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Today/Keys
Key 112 is your left soft key, and key 113 is your right soft key. You just rename the, "Default" value to what you want to appear on the screen, and the, "Open" value to what you want to launch (the Contacts.lnk is in the /Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder I believe).
Oh, and get Schaps Registry Editor before any of that. ; )

Thanks for the info you have given but im afraid it don't help cause the contacts.ink or even contacts.exe is nowhere to be found on my device not even in the windows folder....

Do you already have "Contacts" in your start menu? On my phone, I have Contacts in my start menu, and it is no longer in /Windows/Start Menu/Programs but it is listed in Windows/Start Menu. I think it moves the .lnk over when it's active in the start menu. Just a thought.
I mean, it has to be on the phone somewhere. Although I can't seem to locate it in Windows either...kind of makes me wonder where the phone is pulling it from when I select it...hmm...
No it's not in my start menu, proof is in 1 of the attachments in my1st post.
Last nite i installed PocketCM and used soft key to choose the shortcut to it.
Now i have what i originally wanted
Left Shortcut:......New SMS
Right Shortcut:....Contacts (through PocketCM)
Sorted.........

Yeah, I use iContact v0.6. I'd love to use PocketCM if it didn't try and do so much more than just contacts. It's refusal to stop trying to handle SMS is what makes me stay away from it.
Not to sure what you mean about PocketCM taking over SMS just switch it off in options if you dont like it.....
I use PocketCM V0.23 together with TouchPal 3.0 and the SMS option works well for me if anything better than the original cause it shows the whole conversation and it makes it easier for you to remember what you texting about he he he....

I've got a similar problem:
My right softkey was Calendar, some time ago it said "shortcut not found".
I set it again using Schap's Advanced Config, but it kept disappearing 2 or 3 times.
Now, the links for Calendar and Contacts have disappeared in the Start Menu!
I was able to copy the calendar.lnk from the \Windows directory, but there is no contacts.exe.
I do not use PocketCM, so that's not the root cause...
Try installing PocketCM and use that for a while to see it that shortcut dissapears aswell.....

I use SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 and this software knows how to get widgets (shortcut) on Today. There is "Wirelless manager" in Start-Settings-Connections. Make a shortcut and be happy!

Tell me with more steps what to do, cause in WiFi it gives me to make some settings, its not searching, and i dont know how to use WiFi and i badly need it, tell me more.

OK. I try to explain you, but I have the Shell in czech language...I try it. On main screen SPB press right button (next to contacts). Press green plus (add widget), then press first icon (on the left -Shortcut), then Settings-Connections-Wirelless manager and...???? Is it there??? Next step is move button wifi to the right...Wifi is ON and you can search wifi LAN...

Thanx both of you, with the little program from "azahidi's" link i succeeded to use my WiFi, thanx guys your great
Now the only thing is to see how to Unlock ROM and put another one on my phone
Orig WiFi program as supplied with windows can be found using file explorer- Windows folder then scroll down till you see a file"WLanSettings" with a small picture of a PDA next to it.Highlight this file then select copy. Navigate to where you want to install, click in the window. Choose paste shortcut. Next, if you want, rename shortcut. Copy result, navigate to the folder you wish to place the shortcut in (ie settings?), paste. Close explorer, go to start menue, navigate to shortcut just created, should work

Thanks for the suggestion. I already found these WLanSettings, but it still isn't exactly what I'm after. When I launch WLanSetting, next I have to turn on Wireless LAN, wait...because my access point takes a while to appear in the list, because of the waiting period it doesn't "auto connect" anymore, so I have to press "change network" and select it manually from the list with detected access point...Hold it...
Thanks again !! because when trying this (at this very moment), "Settings" appeared in my task manager (after pressing "change network"; this opened Configure Wireless Networks). Through task manager I was able to see what exe-file was behind "Settings". It's "ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,17,2". Thanks to Google I just found out that putting 33# before ctlpnl.exe (without a space!) and saving this as .lnk works perfectly!!!

I have just noticed that when I try to copy and paste (finger held on screen until options come up) that I am only able to do this once per reset.
I get all the cut/copy/paste options just once.. is there a way to over come this (only noticed this since I flashed with a new ROM... cheers..
I take it no one else is having this problem so it must be just me..
How does everyone copy and paste in non email-web- text situations..
