Is there any way, an app or a mod, to allow for the waking up of the phone from the pressing the trackball or touchscreen?
It's kind of annoying to have to move my hand up to press the sleep/power button to wake it up, and then slide to unlock.

Thats how mine works. It pops up on the screen for me to snooze or sleep w/o having to unlock screen first. But I turn the clock app on, than turn off at the top of the phone.
Cool, I didn't know you could do that. It sucks you have to open the clock app every time but at least it's a start.
Now to have this option without having to turn on the clock app

If you hit the power button on top of the phone that does it IIRC (obviously don't hold the button otherwise you turn it off!)

Hey guys, do you think its possible to make the evo's volume rocker as the on/off button, because the samsung galaxy S the on/off button is on the side which is very convient spot, because you can turn on/off your phone without extending your thumb or finger all the way to the top of the device like our devices "evo", can this be dont on a software tweak?
Download "No Lock" from the marketplace. It disables the screen lock but also lets you wake up your Evo by hitting the volume up or down buttom. To turn the screen off, you'll still have to hit the power button though. Works well for me. YMMV.

no lock also sorta makes up for the lack of a physical silence switch... if hte phones in my pocket, i just click the volume down button once and then hold it until it vibrates and then hit the power button once. much easier than messing with the screen without looking at it =D
Lockout also does this,and you can customize your lockscreen.
I couldn't find lockout in the Market, and I like the slide to unlock I just don't want to have to reach up to the power button when the vol. buttons are there and should wake to unlock too. I'd pay for that tweak.

I hate it that the shift wakes up either with the power button OR the volume rocker. I always bump the volume every time I pick it up, then have to go to the power button to turn it back off. Such a bad idea. Any way to disable the volume rocker from waking the phone?
The volume rocker doesn't wake up the phone, I just tried.
Sliding the keyboard partway out will wake up the phone, AND bypasses the lock screen, which is a really poor "feature"

My wife's evo shift wakes up when you press either the up or down volume keys. Anyone else experience that, or is ours one of a kind?

Mine doesnt do that either. That would be a def battery killer if it were to happen in your pocket all the time. Make sure you dont have the backlight timer too high or that might become an issue.

On mine, when I slide the keyboard I still have to enter in my pattern pin.

I do not have a pattern pin or code set. Mine will wake on slide.
Mine doesn't wake on volume rocker though.
My phone does this. I have the lockscreen disabled because I i hate that extra step. My phone will wake up if I press the volume rocker. I wish I could disable this
back when i had the mytouch4g we had a mod/hack that enabled us to remap the "genious" button in to a google search option.
i was wondering if we can remap the volume buttons to wake the xoom up or just simply enable the volume buttons to wake the xoom.

Yeap.. I use NoLock because I don't feel I needed that lock screen anyways.. hehhe a byproduct of its use is that the volume buttons will also wake the Xoom

You could always turn off the lock screen in settings without this program.

Oh gosh.. haha couldn't do that on my Captivate so honestly didn't even try on my Xoom. thanks. Also seems that turning off the lock screen in settings still makes the volume buttons wake it up.
no lock doesn't always work for me. the volume buttons wake it right when it goes dark, but if it's more than a few minutes, the volume buttons won't wake the xoom.
is there a solution for this. I love my xoom and the power button is the only think i would change. I have it flat on a desk a lot.
I don't have any fingerprints registered. I just want to be able to press the hole button and turn on the screen, like I used to be able to do with my Note 3.
Is this possible?

You can double tap the screen to wake it up, but I don't think you can with the home button without fingerprint enabled.
