Is 500 minutes enough for you?
I only have 45 minutes remaining for the last 2.5 weeks of my billing cycle. For me, some months I use a lot some months not so much. This worked out great on my iPhone with AT&T's rollover minutes. I had nearly 2000 minutes saved up.
It doesn't appear that T-Mobile will even let us upgrade to a plan with more minutes.
I have tried using voip with sipdroid, but it is unreliable.
Trying to brace myself for a large bill....
I'm told that you have an additional 500 forwarding min, so if you forward your number to a different phone, work phone, home phone.
Not really the best solution, but its there.
I'm torn because I live on the edge of 500 min every month (currently on a myfaves plan). Going to the even more plus 500 plan would save me 20 bucks a month. If i can stay under 500 min that is.

LOL are you kidding??
NEVER change your plan!
MyFaves + Google Voice = 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 minutes!!! (Unlimited)
I can't believe you don't have that set up?? I did that on day 1 of GV being introduced on my G1!
I was given the option to upgrade my plan the first time I called T Mo to set up my visual voicemail. Call back. The option should be available.
so if i use my google voice # to make/received calls, i am not charged minutes?
that doesn't sound right.......?
(assuming i am making receiving calls during peak non-unlimited times)

So put your GV # and you get unlimited minutes!!!

Right, I'm just saying to the above guy and anyone else with MyFaves, switching off of a MyFaves plan with an Android phone is absolutely INSANE
lol on my T-mobile Austria contract, I have 2000min all around Europe, 1000min to T-mobile and Box, 1000 sms, and 3gb at HSDPA 7,2 for 24€ at all fits perfect with my Nexus one!
I think it´s not to bad

Yeah, I'm aware of this. Don't currently use it that way just because I don't get anywhere near my min. And really, my plan is only $5 cheaper a month than the fully unlimited everything plan from tmo. 39.99 (myfav 300) + 34.99 (G1 data+unlimited text) = 74.98/mo + 10 ish in taxes/fee's = $84.98/mo

Ah, my data plan is $24.99. Why are you paying for texts? GV does free unlimited texting too ; )
They will let you upgrade your plan, they just won't let you downgrade.
They are not gonna turn down more money if you want to give them more money.
resisting change, haven't given out my GV number really. I dunno, been debating for a while want I've been wanting to do about my plan.
TMO Unlimited Talk $49.99
Unlimited Data $19.99
Loving my N1
Loving the NEW GV Group feature fro sms.

Debated this for a long time as well, and finally made the switch a couple of weeks ago. It's almost as if I didn't switch at all. I forwarded my new number to anyone that actually texts me. Those that don't, don't need the new number. Those that do text, and thus, got the new number, have cell phones, so all they're doing is changing the number in their phone to the new one. It's not as if they have to memorize your new number (who does that anymore?!). My plan switches to the 500 minute plan on the 14th, and including the money I save from switching plans and dropping the text plan, I'll save $20-30 a month. I do wish I'd switched to MyFaves when I had the chance though...
My wife is under contract to ATT for iphone. I left ATT for unlocked N1 on TMobile with 500 min everything plus plan. We were used to calling each other w/o regard to minutes as it was all "free." I signed up for Skype Out subscription to US/Canada for $2.95 plus vat/euro tax/whatever of .72 per month. Also had to buy $10 worth of credit to send 2 sms to get cell # on the Skype caller id. Installed fring and call her on skype out via fring. About a 2 second delay when we are both in our living room plus its a little tinny sounding. She knows to be prepared for the delay unless its the weekend If android ever gets a full skypeout app then quality and lag should be better.
I didn't change my plan at all. The 500 minute plan would have been a step back for me with how much they wanted compared to what I currently have, so I bought mine unsubsidized.
Unlimited minutes - $49.99
Unlimited data/text - $34.99
So.....$84.98 + taxes/fees each month.
As a college student the 500 minutes seem to be enough for me, mostly i text in the day and call during the unlimited nights and weekends, i still have 400 mins left til the 20th.
I just upgraded my minutes today tmobile upgraded me to 1000 minutes for 10 bucks more a month quick and easy no issues.
Yep and I have been told by a T-mobile rep that once you are out of the 120 Handset recovery period (Google's) you can do whatever you want with your plan so long as you dont cancel service. You can upgrade or downgrade as you need!

i don't if anyone notice but recently i believe june 1st, tmobile decided to raise the cost of g1 plans. i was on the phone with them yesterday because i got a g1 for my wife and it turns out that the package i had for 24$ which includes 400 txt, is now gone. you have to pay the 24$ for internet and another 4.99$ for txt.
That's how mine has been since last December, and it was the same way with my old unlocked blackjack.....

I got my G1 a few months ago and signed up for the unlimited loyalty plan: unlimited minutes for $49.99 and unlimited data with 400 texts for $24.99. I don't think I'll ever switch plans again.
Hmmm, weird, 'cause I've had my G1 since about a week before it was offered to the public, and I have had the Unlimited Everything plan for $35.00. I have had this plan and still do, for the same price. And as far as I know, it hasn't changed for any new G1 owners.

everyone should go to freelancers.org and sign up..u can get up to a 12-15% savings on total bill take five mins to do it on the phone.
best of all its free!
Hmm so with the 400 text messages...does that mean 400 sent and received or just sent? Cause with My Account it only shows the sent text messages...I don't wanna run up the bill more than it already is.
I wish I didnt have Flexpay so I could use the new BillShrink they offer....anyone have luck lowering their g1 plan with it? Im paying $91 and some change a month. 300Min, Unlimited m2m, Unlimited data/text. unlimited 5 faves.

thats not how billshrink works. billshrink is a third party website that you input your typical cell usage, texting, etc and it compares price plans for all of the major mobile carriers and tells you which one is going to have the best plan. it doesnt actually make your bills smaller with tmo.
Crazy how you have to pay for text, my boy works for tmobile and said it does not cost tmobile any money for text messages.

Tried this, T-Mobile wasnt accepting it or something. I called them twice.
I'm on a data only plan and I imagine most folks use the N1 for both voice and data, but let's see.
Finite minutes - unlimited data (20% voice and 80% data)
Unlimited Everything.. Though I don't talk much on it. It's the $140/month family plan for 2 phones. At some point, we may scale back to 750 minutes if we simply don't use enough.
family plan with unlimted data and messaging.
Finite minutes, unlimited data
I still have a MyFaves plan and people I call regularly are on it. Those that aren't are T-Mo Mobile to Mobile calls and the conference bridges I am on are T-Mobile bridges anyway so they are Mobile to Mobile as well, so I use over 1500+ minutes a month, and normally about 100 or so of those are ever take out of my anytime minutes. lol!
5% voice, 95% data, mostly Wi-Fi at work and home. Keeps me entertained at the mall while the wife and daughters are shopping.

Forgot to add that this cost covers the price of my contracted nokia N97 phone (which I sold for £320 and I'm on an 18 month plan...can upgrade from 15th month)...otherwise a monthly rolling plan like this with 900 minutes will cost me just £20 per month!!!
Well... I had a T-mo loyalty plan ... and bought the nexus unsubsidized. That way I did not have to be limited by that 500 min plan.
My wife and I are on the 1500 minute, unlimited messaging, unlimited data package labeled "Even More Plus". She now has my old G1, so we are an Android Family now.
Worked out a deal with T-mobile's retention department since I've been a good customer for 8 years. They set it up so I paid $279 for the phone, with the 2 year contract for the 500 minute plan... and after the 120 days, they'll put me back on my grandfathered plan which is $74.98 for 1000 minutes, unlim. n/w, and unlim sms and data. So Google won't charge their ETF and I'll be paying less over two years than if I bought the phone unsubd.
Unlimited everything with a private APN for €0/m
But then I work for Vodafone...
Vodafone Australia
$69 cap.. You get $370 worth of calls and 1GB data
I got a crazy T-Mobile deal a couple years back so I get unlimited Messaging for $9.99/Month for the entire family. That costs like $35/mo now. As long as I keep signing contracts I don't lose that $9.99. This also means my unlimited data plans for my N1 and my wifes MT are only $25/mo because we don't need the messaging with them.
I have Fave 5 with Google Voice so I have unlimited Minutes because I have my GV number on my 5.
Win for me.
i currently have a rooted G1 on Tmoible USA and my bill is $70 a month.. i was thinking of switching to verizon and getting a droid incredible, but can't find anything on the monthly costs.. i know i will need a data plan, but how much are we talkin' about here? i hardly ever call people, so i just need unlimited texting and a data plan.. anyone know how much this would cost a month??

I also dropped Tmobile and went to verizon for many reasons 1 being they have the incredible which i got like 3 days after it came out and 2 the service in my area is bulletproof with verizon and tmobile sucks

I agree, the Nexus One has the same specs (except camera I think) so it's fairly equal to the Incredible. It'll probably save you some time and hassle with switching carriers. I would only make the switch if your 3G coverage is terrible. Nothing wrong with the Incredible though I've got one and love it!

3.when the representetive will pick up tell them that you just got a new plan with the phone you have (i said vibrant) and tell them you are considering canceling your account because its way to expensive for you to pay 30$ even though i like the vibrant. Make excuses if they keep asking you questions but most likely the RP will say that they could offer you a discount and let you have it for 20$. AMAZING!

When you call, go to the retentions department, say "cancel account" on the automated system it will take you directly there, tell, don't ask the rep that you want the $20 web plan. If you're lucky he will be nice enough to give it to you based on your loyalty as a customer, if he doesn't give it to you try a different one.

Call T-Mo (611) and ask for retentions or say you want to cancel your plan (which will take you to retentions). They are the only ones that can get you the $20 data plan (from what I've read).

I have 2 lines under the old android unlimited data/unlimited text for $34.99. Last time I talked to retention last week they said that was still the cheapest way to go .
My wife and I have been T-Mo customers for 8 years. I have a Vibrant, she has a Nexus. We called a couple of months ago, just to speak with retention about our data plans. They got us on the preferred data plan at $20 a line, unlimited family messaging for $9.99 and 600 shared anytime minutes. All total, $92.00. We obviously still get the free nights and weekends and mobile to mobile. $92.00 is not bad for two android phones with unlimited messaging and data. Most of the people we call are on T-Mo as well, so that works out too!
Call and talk to retention, no one in a retail store can do it for you.
I've been a T-Mo customer for 8 years, too. A couple years ago I was using their [email protected] service. They discontinued that service but called me up and offered me unlimited voice at the loyal customer rate instead. Last month I bought the Vibrant and they gave me the loyal customer data plan without even asking. I'm paying $75/mo for unlimited voice, unlimited data and 400 free TMs. I am a happy camper, and it has kept me from going to AT&T for an iPhone.
I wish I would have been able to get a better plan, instead I moved to EM+ and can't go back... =(

I'm paying $65 a month for 1000 minutes, unlimited data, and no TMs ($40 for the 1000 minutes plan, +$25 for the unlimited android data add-on). Works fine for me, and I've got a GVoice number, with the GVoice app on my phone, so I can actually receive TMs through that number with the app.
Not sure when but TMobile will be rolling out new options and doing away with flex pay. Will still have same features SS flex pay but also offer cheaper data plans like at&t. Fight now you're stuck with $30 because you wanted the best phone. You want a cheaper data plan downgrade your phone or get rid of text to save and have your friends IM you or email.

Our "after-tax" total is about $106 for 2 android phones with unlimited data, unlimited texts and 600 shared minutes, free nights and weekends, free mobile to mobile. We don't call a whole lot of numbers that aren't T-Mo, so we don't ever use all the minutes.

nice, in all reality we don't use that many minutes, her more than I as I work from home and text all day. I have a land line and a company line I can also use also to make calls out. Is that $65 after taxes? Also, is ti contract or not? I had just Unlimited Data last month hoping I could get SIP/VOIP working on my phone but I eventually decided to get minutes so I can use for work. They gave me 500 minutes and I was told my bill would be $65. If I can get a little more cheaper I would be happy.

You guys know T-Mobile employees troll all these popular forums. I'm not talking about store employees who are members here. I'm talking about executive services, people high up at T-mo troll the forums, especially during new phone release dates, and I'm sure the more people advertise how to call and "pretend" to cancel, is going to eventually hurt the real loyal customer who is honestly considering to cancel.
I've actually had a rep I started conversation with on the phone, admit they visit these forums and read what people write. Just saying, if we want loyalty to continue for real loyal customers. Those who pay on time every month, for years, then we shouldn't be posting how to trick T-Mo. At the end it hurts people who have been with T-Mo for several years as loyal faithful customers.

Didn't work for me.. The rep said down at the bottom, that the phone number that is being offered the promo is listed but its blank in the link. Apparently VZW is locking down on who they are offering this to.
It is only available for people who aren't under contract with Verizon at this time. I just spoke to a CSR rep and tried to get him to extend my contract under the terms in the link but since I am still under contract with Verizon for 2 years they wont offer it to me. Worth a shot though, bummer.
Not so much
Sounds good, and saving money is saving money, but this would be somewhere around $5.00 discount for those of us on the $39.99 450 minute plan, 29.99 data plan, and $5.00 (that's the saving part) texting plan. Wouldn't lose sleep over the link not working.
This worked for me a few days ago and I just opened my account in the summer on contract. Had to call the 877 number for sure though because regular customer service kept giving me the runaround.
With work discount, comes to $59.49 a month before taxes.
I'm all over this. $55 month with my work discount.

Here's what the deal really is:
It's the exact same prices as normal Talk and Text plans, either single line or family plan (700 minute family plan isn't offered- have to get at least 1400), except every line has to get the $30 unlimited data plan, but then each line automatically gets a $20 bill credit per month, leaving you paying $10 for unlimited data per line. It only saves you money if you have a better-than 1:3 ratio of smartphones:total lines on your account. Example: 1 single line that has a smartphone is a 1:1 ratio so they save money. 1 smartphone on a 2-line family plan is a 1:2 ratio so they save money. 1 smartphone on a 3-line family plan breaks even, etc.
It's only supposed to be given to customers who got the email about it- they can look up all promotional material that's been sent to you and verify that you received it so this is definitely YMMV. There's a pretty nice thread going on over at SlickDeals that I've been posting a lot in- lots of success stories and ways to help you get it, etc.- check it out..

Nope, anyone can get it, even ones who didn't get the promotional email. But yes your chances are a lot better if you're out of contract, or soon will be..
I just signed my new contract this march. Called last week on this and they hooked me up with the family line. Added the unlimited text and saved $30 a month so worked for me.
Also the 1400 family plan still has friends and family...
Sent from my Virtuous Incredible
I need to do the math but sure looks like this would save me money. I have the 1400 minute plan. 2 Incredibles with unlimited data and two regular family share lines. $5.00 unlimited text. 17% corporate discount.
I'm going to call and let them do that math. I have an NE2 due. Maybe I'll try and leverage that.

The math would be:
$110 primary line - $18.70 discount = $91.30
$10 data plan
-----------------------------
$101.30
$10 2nd line
$10 data plan
-----------------------------
$121.30
$10 3rd line
$10 data plan
------------------------------
$141.30
$10 4th line
$10 data plan
------------------------------
$161.30 plus tax and extras for 4 lines
Not sure what you mean by $5 unlimited text so I can't tell you what you're paying now, so you may or may not be saving money depending on what texting package(s) you have..

Not true.
I'm under contract and got the deal. I also wasn't send the ad... but I snaked my way in without much effort.
It's a great deal and something that should continue. A single line shouldn't cost $100+ for a smartphone. That is too much... this is perfect.
Cricket
For $45 a month at Cricket you can have all this with no contract. Just look for the Cricket ROM in the Incredible forum and it has everything you need to make it work with Cricket. I really love the peace of mind you get when you don't have to count minutes and you're not stuck in a contract. Plus you can use just about any CDMA phone with their service.

talk
long distance
text
voicemail
caller ID

It worked for me and I just started my service on Friday I called and told the that I saw the add and was wondering if I could get it and that I just started my service on Friday and they said that I could and they said as long as I kept the same plan I would get the discount till the promotion ran out in 2035
I called the 877 number, tried to get the deal today and was told that it was only for those that received the email.
I signed my first contract with verizon back in august. Got my plan changed to this in under 5 minutes. I did go with the 1400 plan, and had to pay an extra 20 for a third line. But I still saved $30 a month and added data to my third line.
I did not recieve the promo email either...
Just got the deal. I did not receive the email.

Call again. I called this morning and the first guy told me I wasn't eligible. I called 5 minutes later and got some girl, and it wasn't hard to convince her to let me in on the deal.
I have a two lines both with DINC's, with my 20% work discount I am only paying $118 before taxes. That's less than $60 per phone!! Heck yeah...
FWIW, I am still 17 months away from the end of my contract and I did NOT recieve the email. I called and it was without a doubt the SMOOTHEST FASTEST interaction I've EVER had with VZW CS. To put that in perspective, my dogs have fled the room when I've called them in the past. 10 minutes later I logged on and all changes were shown.
So ... I've been with VZW for years, though I doubt I'm special in that regard, and I got this deal no fuss no muss. Perhaps I was sent the offer and it hit my spam box, but no mention about the email was made by me or the rep.
Everyone should try, and then maybe try twice.
Just tried for a second time and was again denied...
I called the day the flyer was first posted on BGR. I got the deal right away by calling the phone number. Before, I was paying 190 for 3 lines, two with data, all unlimited messaging. Now, I am paying 160 for all three lines with unlimited data and texting. This is really $60 in savings, as we would have been charged $30 bucks more a month to add data to the third line. This was a great deal.
