Hello,
on my good old O2-xda-mini the original battery is nearly dead (in the last month, the battery-life went down to ~10hours). But when i installed a new battery it worked for around 1 week, then startet with alternatingly showing 0% or 100% battery-status (Sometimes jumping to a "real" number like 85%).
When reporting this, I got another battery from the dealer which was showing the same problems. And even a third battery from another dealer (and another brand) did it this way! When i use my old battery or the original one of a friend of mine, everything is ok.
To me it seems that all those third-party-batteries you can get now (laying there on stock for 6 years?) are not really compatible. They are loaded and can be used but you never know when they'll be empty.
Anyone with the same problem, a solution, an idea...?
Thanks!

I v got the same Problems with a low cost battery like this. View attachment 276021
I tested it with the Powerdetect-Program from this forum.
My battery shows 0% or 100% .This Problem was after an Hardware-reset.
Bevor it works a week normal.
As it shows 100%, the Powerdetect Program shows this View attachment 276025
9,989 V is impossible with this battery ! I disassamble the battery View attachment 276029 and locate an electronic circuit in . I knew those Problems from Notebooks... so i disconnect the circuit from the battery.View attachment 276030 and leave it for 5 minutes . After this the powerdetect program shows the realy value.

Ok, it goes 3 Days perfekt , then the same Problem.
I solved the Problem with a microswitch inside the battery View attachment 276060, so i can disconnect the circuit without disassembling.
I think , this circuit hangs because crashed software . I dont no , if i could get a circuit from an old original battery and put it in the new one, but i will investigate this. If someone opens a battery, be sure that u never short the battery contacts ! ! ! that could be burning or exploding ! !
Maybe there are different problems with other batterys , in this case it works.
Sorry for my bad english, just learning it ...
So i got an old defektiv original battery and set in the Cell from the low cost battery. Some one else from this Forum gives the same Advise, but i didnt found the thead again. In the end I have a stabil working battery !
The electronik circuit in the low cost battery was the Problem.

My nook, even after charging completely, dissconnecting the power cord, and using it for hours after, always shows a ? for battery status. Under settings battery % always reads unknown.
Anyone experienced this problem? My nook is rooted (rotted?).

Although I haven't read about the BatteryManager ever returning unknown,
I'd be interested to know what the battery/charging status says in UsbMode.
This app has a group that displays all the broadcasted info on the battery.

Solved
So, I let the thing sit for weeks. Too busy with school to send it back to b&n for a reaplcement. I finally decided to deal with it, I plugged it in and in a few minutes it said battery to low to charge. I had to wait 15 minutes. So i let it charge till full. Upon booting, and unplugging, battery registered 100 percent and decresed with normal use.
In other words, let it totally run out of battery (could take weeks) then plug it in and let it fully charge.
Worked for me
I would like to confirm the OP's results. My battery started doing the question mark thing out-of-the-blue, about a month ago. I tried unrooting, restoring to factory settings, I even tried older versions of the Nook software to see if that made any difference, and nothing. I tried to drain the battery, transferring files to and from the Nook over wifi, and even when I couldn't boot from low battery, as soon as I plugged it in I got question mark battery. Being in Canada, getting my Nook replaced is a huge pain, so I left it for about a month. Pulled it out today, just for the heck of it, and I got the Not enough battery to turn on screen (which was new, when the battery was in question mark mode it would always attempt to turn on, but fail silently as soon as power was removed). I left it plugged in for a few minutes, and lo and behold it booted up and displayed the charging animation on the battery icon. I charged it to full, and it seems to be as good as new.
So, for anybody else that has this issue, the fix seems to be to let it drain for a very long time, then recharge. Shortcuts don't work, and it isn't a hardware issue that needs replacement.
My note 3 battery is horrible I downloaded wake lock
Here are 2 pics
Any advice?

Here is another
My phone has been in my pocket all day not being used until just now when I made this post
I should also mention it is fully stock
looks pretty standard for stock to me. 5 hours for 23% of the battery? That means about 20 hours a cycle? seems very standard for stock.
If you want more then you gotta go custom ROMS and Kernels.
If your rooted use SET CPU to make phone clock speed 322-400 mhz when the screen is turned of.
But why is it awake so much?
Search for "AndroidOS Bug" and you'll get the answer.

This bug really makes it hard to enjoy the note 3 as a whole. I was plagued by this pretty badly until recently I sort of found a workaround.
Some time ago I found out, that in offline mode the bug is not present. I came across it, when i was in our datacenter where the cell signal is a nightmare. I turned on offline mode and switched WiFi back on (thankfully we have a WiFi active there) and the battery drain was very low with active WiFi and bluetooth (headset connected) over a period of several hours.
I did still encounter the Android OS bug afterwards, but then once after my phone was fully charged, I put it into offline mode for some time (30 secs or one minute) and then switched back to normal and that day I had exceptional battery life (whole day = ~12h with some time checking, messaging and checking mail, with ~70% battery left) which i assume must be the actual battery life that the phone is capable of without bugs.
So long story short:
possible workaround for the Android OS bug: put phone in offline mode for ~1 minute, then back into normal mode
I would love to read if somebody tried this and gave some feedback.
Hello,
I've experienced a sudden change in battery performance.
What used to take around 50% of battery now takes around 85%.
It happened recently, around the same time I started working at a new workplace. The reception is horrible there, maybe that's the issue. However during the weekends, it is around the same.
I was on 4.4.2 stock when it happened and since then I've flashed it again once. I've also tried a couple of different radios (and enabled LTE) and I've always had franco kernel.
Brightness was always on Auto (which I shall turn off to experiment battery life) and wifi is selected to be off when the phone is off.
I have still a few more experiments to do, but I'm considering using warranty services. What do you guys think? It's clearly not as bad as some of the other battery issues I've seen on this forum, but it's quite the change for me. I bought this phone in July 2013.
Here is an example battery usage graph. Charging finished around 1 AM and left it unplugged over night. In the morning (~7 hours) the percentage was at 75%. (5% / hr) Throughout the day, I have used it for text messaging only and by 6 pm, it's at around 13%.
Thanks for taking the time to read my long post.

You can check what drains battery with BetterBatteryStats. Google it and you'll find.
Thanks for replying.
I have tried that before an OS reset although I couldn't make much out of it. One main thing I noticed was a certain kernel wakelock which, after I googled, was responsible for LTE connectivity. Although this makes sense, I had good battery life even with the LTE chip being used (& auto brightness / wifi always on) prior to this battery incident. By good battery life, I mean 50-60% used by the end of the day
My Nexus 4 has a couple of problems, to keep it compact, let me list them:
Powers down 'randomly' when screen on
Powers down when using camera (can make about 1 or 2 pictures, but then it crashes)
Bad network signal
Bad GPS signal and sub-par wifi reception
(Powering down sometimes causes a boot loop, solvable by holding power for 10 sec.)

Are these symptoms of a bad battery? I'd like to clarify the Powering down: it doesn't shut down like normal when the battery is empty, but instead the screen just goes black and it's powered off. The screenshot shows these power failures.
(Also, my back cover can't close properly anymore at the power button side, maybe because a malformed battery, but i'm just guessing here.)
Because all the symptoms seems to be related to high energy usage (camera, network, gps) I'm thinking it may be that the battery can't provide enough energy at a given time. But on the other hand, maybe my device is just faulty and short-circuits somewhere in which case I'll have to dispose of it.
Do you guys think it's the battery? Thank you.
This is sort of a bump, but can anyone give me some insights in this? I'm thinking about buying a new battery, but I'd like to know if that would just be throwing away more money.
Thank you.

Hi, I think this could be your battery, if it's got to the point that phone is cutting out your battery will probably be physically swollen, so open your phone and have a look.
Yes, it is most likely a battery issue, because of the expansion of the battery. Please stop using the device ASAP, because swollen batteries can explode.
I had the same problem. The battery was swallen and the back cover was forced closed. I ve replaced the battery and now everything is normal
Ok, thanks for confirmation guys.
My glass back cover has now broken too, since it was pushed too much by the swollen battery. I didn't know about the explosion danger, but I will have to risk it for a week until my battery arrives. I have no backup phone so I have to use it meanwhile.
Hello everyone,
My Discovery elite battery is draining pretty quickly. When it shuts down and I start charging it it starts charging from 0% but when I reset the phone while charging it jumps directly to 24 percent.
I changed my rom, cleared battery stats couple of times, used battery fix and calibrator apps and nothing worked.
Android system and the apps are saying that my battery's health is good, what do you think?
What should I do?

I thought it was just me. I also experience the same problem. It shuts down prematurely or drains fast. After being off for a few minutes and starts it my batt would show it at around 24% again.

Can confirm this is happening to me as well
Are you running a custom ROM? I'm on 4.4.2 AOSP posted by Muratt19
This actually happens in all roms that I used. Even the stock roms.

I'm buying a different phone. They practically do not have support in the Philippines anymore. No Service centers as well.
