Didn't have this problem, when I installed Opera 10 beta 2 it was automatically default opera
Try this cab and see if it works. If not just uninstall it
Hi junior64,
Opera will be cooked into your current ROM version so I doubt that you will be able to remove it. It's also embedded into a tf3d tab.
You could probably change it someway via a Registry Editor after installing Opera 10 and then set it as the default browser?

Worth a shot. I'll have a look at registry changes and see if I can find something
Hi again,
You can set Opera Mobile 10 the default browser, so that bookmarks launched from Manila's Internet tab will open there and not in Opera 9.x. To do this, try the following:
First, copy the entire contents of the /Program Files/Opera Mobile 10 folder into the /Windows folder. It's important to copy more than just the .exe file, otherwise the program won't launch.
Next, use a registry editor to change
/HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/EFBROWSER/1/"\Windows\OperaL.exe"
to
/HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/EFBROWSER/1/"\Windows\Opera10-armv4i.exe"
Finally, soft reset and you should be all set.
Best Regards.

Hi all,
Does anyone know where does Opera 8.2 for Windows Mobile 5 (MDA) keep it's bookmark and user settings? Opera says that it's located in a file that is unique to the installation file (Symbian, WM5, etc.), but I don't know where is it.
Can anyone help?

In Opera 8.50 for Windows Mobile BETA (1635):
\Application Data\Opera\opera6.adr --> favorites (you can edit with notepad or something)
\Application Data\Opera\english.lng --> language file (you can edit with notepad and translate to your own language if wanted, save to english.lng because there is no way to switch languages in Opera itself)
\Application Data\Opera\input.ini & opera.ini --> settings voor the Opera browser itself
Thanks a mil, 2tje!
Hi folks,
I currently have a problem with file explorer. I opened the windows folder and now I am stuck with the time icon, I wait...and I wait... and nothing happens it freezes the phone. After a soft reset and then going back into file explorer it goes back to the folder I last looked at which is the windows folder and freezes again.. so basically I can't use file explorer anymore? Any suggestions?
Steve
Is it locking up? or does it just need more time to load and display all the contents of \windows. Can you minimize file explorer by pressing the hang up key and work on something else, then go back later to file explorer. Are you able to change directories now?
Are you using a shortcut to launch file explorer
I always use Total commander for file management and \windows does take a while to load. It too tries to open the last used directory but if the folder is not available, eg network share, it defaults to the root directory after a warning. Not the answer to your problem, I know, but Total Commander is free and it is much better featured than the standard file explorer.

Try this on a Registry Editor:
HKLM - Software - Microsoft - File Explorer - LastLocation - 0 (zero)
Soft Reset then try to launch File Explorer again.

Thanks folks, got it working. I needed to change the registery values. The phone was freezing up and even after 10 minutes was still not showing the contents of the windows folder.
Da_mayhem just fyi I edited the localpath folder from '/windows' to '/' this seemed to solve the problem. The lastlocation value was already set to 0 for some reason?
Thanks for your help guys...

I seem to have the same Problem with my HTC Touch (non-branded, German Version). However I do not have the aforementioned registry values. There is no "file explorer" unter HKLM - Software - Microsoft.
Any Ideas on how to get my file explorer running again?
In the meantime I'm using TotalCommander, however TC doesn't support sending files via Bluetooth, or at least not that I know of. I can only send via Infrared, or am I missing something?
What is REGISTRY EDITOR? Please help me that! I m having the same problem on my XDA ORBIT ii

I tried this, but didn't have a "File Explorer" entry. So I created one and the LastLocation value as noted, but it still opens in the Windows folder and locks up. Any clues?

I know this is an old post...but after extensive searching and frustration...S.V.I fixed my issue. I just wanted to say thanks to S.V.I
I couldn't find file explorer and it was freezing...like S.V.I pointed out- it is HKCU and not HKLM.
I had done 2 hard resets...and removing "windows" from the path fixed it.
Thanks to all that posted solutions here on this great site!
Update:
Spoke to soon...I can't enter my Windows folder at all using file explorer- I could earlier. I can enter anywhere else...just not my Window folder...I can with Resco explorer. I have to apply S.V.I suggestion to stop it from freezing...but magically-"\windows" keeps re-appearing in my registry.
Update:
Found another solution that actually worked for me!
open File Explorer
Click on Menu>Sort> change it to Name
I think i know the solution
i too have experienced the same problem like this. but then this is what i do. and it's surprisingly works.
1) soft reset your phone
2) click on file explorer again
3) the loading symbol will always appear, but for now just let it be.
4) close the file explorer by tapping 'hang up' key/button. this will supposedly bring you back to home screen
5) wait for half an hour or longer
6) open file explorer
7) the windows folder loaded successfully

Ayobi's solution worked.
I have a HTC Diamond 2 WM6.5. File explorer froze as I sorted the files in the Windows folder. Exactly followed Ayobi's suggestion. Got out of the mess.
I won't visit Windows folder again!!!
Thanks Ayobi and others for their suggestions.

This definitely worked - on a related note you can go into Registry Editor (HKCU - Software - Microsoft - File Explorer) and change the SortOrder value to anything but 2 (apparently 2 is for Type). Soft reset and reload the program, and it should load a lot faster.

I had same problem, because I tried to sort Windows folder by file Type. Oops.
I know it's an old post, but here's my two cents (because this thread guided me to a slightly modified resolution.)
My resolution on Tilt2 TP2 WinMo 6.5 was found here:
HKCU - Software - Microsoft - File Explorer - LastLocation - 0 (zero)
HKCU - Software - Microsoft - File Explorer - LastPath - \ (slash)
HKCU - Software - Microsoft - File Explorer - SortOrder - 1
That did the trick for me. Was able to open File Explorer. Strangely, it took me to the Windows folder again; but didn't hang this time. Maybe because I skipped soft reset (so maybe registry change may not have taken effect entirely?)
I would like to change my default calendar view from day to month. Is there a registry setting for this?
No. You can have a shortcut that loads the calendar in a particular view though.

This is a .cab file !
Enjoy
That's a cab to change the softkey to launch the calendar in a different mode btw.

just transfer the file to your handset and use file explorer on the handset to browse to the file and tap on the file once, then it will start installing.
Copy it onto your device.
Use file explorer or a better explorer, find the .cab file, and double click.
.cabs are self installing installation files for this operating system.
If you're ever asked what device you need a cab for, mips, arm etc, choose arm.

After a reboot it works great! Thanks!
1 How do I open URL's with Opera Browser by DEFAULT
2 I went into Total Commander and deleted the file association for URLs in attempt to make it work for Opera Browser on the Xperia.
Well, it doesn't work, and when I set it to iexplorer.exe the Xperia gives me infinite loops and freezes on me.
Can someone just give me the default association settings when they click on properties, I am sure this will fix my URL opening problem.
Download and install Xperiatweak, it has an option to set your default browser.

That doesn't apply to Total Commander or File Browser....
Dude you should try it. Save a URL on a real computer, transfer it into your phone, and then open it via any file browser.
It will open in Internet Explorer.
LISTEN PEOPLE, instead of giving suggestions that will not work, can someone just please follow these steps in Total Commander and tell me what is on the screen?
Step 0: Upload a .URL file into your storage card
Step 1: Click on Program Menus
Step 2: Click on Total Commander
Step 3: Press and hold on a URL file inside your memory card
Step 4: Click on properties
Step 5: Click on the Associate tab
Step 6: Click on the Associate button
Step 7: tell me exactly what is shown on the following fields: Command, Parameter, Icon File, and Index
I thank any angel that helps me out on this.
Someone please help me, I know one of you has total commander, can make URLs, and has windows mobile 6.1.
i had this problem also and have fixed most of the links to opera except for emails. the screenshots below show the associations for .html and .url which are different. i'm guessing .html is probably the one you want to copy but i have provided both just in case. i ended up using a cab as there are registry settings for others and i had problems with rss hub links. if i find the cab i'll post it but i got it from xda-devs general section i think, try a search for opera associations, opera rss or something like that.
EDIT: my email links do work, i'm sure there is something that still opens PIE but i can't remember. check the reg key HKLM> Software> microsoft> shell> rai> : DEFBROWSER
0=Opera Browser
1="\windows\OperaL.exe"

All I get is a blank page, even thought I can still browse the internet and all, the URLs still dont open!!!!!!!!
The file I am trying to open is URL because when I save a bookmark or website url, I want to open it via Total Commander, exactly the way I open Microsoft Word Documents.
I have no idea what the heck .html files are, but anyways, your method and your registry cab does not work...
What am I doing wrong? And what exactly are .html files?
Please help me, I find it very inconvenient to be forced to go to Opera Browser and then open links from there.
It would be much easier to click a saved link and then open via opera browser.
I used PHM Registry Editor
and
ab 0 = Opera Browser
ab 1 = "\Windows\OperaL.exe
D 2 = 1 (0X000001)
D 3 = 0 (00000000)
It still doesnt work
1. Ok...what are HTML files?
2. What the heck does it mean to open Email links? Does it mean to open a URL like "www.hotmail.com"?
3. How do I open a website link from my Windows Vista that is transferred into Windows Mobile?
I tried your advice and it doesn't work. When I open www.google.com via a .URL file... this is what I get in the address bar in opera:
file:/Storage%20Card/My%Stuff/Google.url
I want to see this in the Opera address bar:
http://www.google.com/
I am basically talking about opening bookmarks in the form as URL. because bookmarks can only be saved in URL format via Internet Explorer or Mozilla firefox on my computer, so how do I open these bookmarks when transferred?
hello, i hope someone will be able to help me.
i downloaded Opera Mobile 9.7 35541 VGA from xdadevs opera topic.
i downloaded PHM Regedit, browsed to
[HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch\Opera Browser]
and changed "full path" key to \windows\opera9.exe - to match opera9.exe in windows folder. when i go to windows, i cant start opera9.exe. tried to rename both to Opera9.exe but no luck.
im able to open OperaL.exe, but when i change full path in regedit to point to OperaL.exe, HW zoom bar is not working.
any ideas?
thx.
I made a .cab with zoombar pointing at \windows\OperaL.exe and addedd WheelCount = 12, see if you have any benefit.
hello. this didnt help. but it seems that something went wrong. i flashed new ROM(same as i had before), installed same Opera build. then found similar .cab to yours and changed it in reg to Opera9.exe. then renamed opera9.exe to Opera9.exe and it worked this time.
btw, may i ask what application did u use to create .cab? i found some yesterday, but none of them worked properly. in case that i want to change something in .cab and repack it to new .cab file.
thx.
Happy to hear tou solved your problem, I use OCP CAB Manager
