Windows Mobile Device Centre...... - HD2 General

Hi!
Does anyone know where the settings for the above are stored on the Desktop PC? My sync keeps failing with a calendar entry that does not exist - either on my desktop pc )I use Outlook2007) or phone! WTF?
Regards,
Alan

Try compacting your outlook data files. (google it, not sure of the exact key presses)
Could also try archiving old stuff.

As simple as that
Who think that Bill Gates will make an OS without interaction between his Office suite ?
How to get more rich in 1 lesson !!!
I figured that also out, but I don't want to install outlook.
Any other options? Are there freeware programs available?

Of all the junk that Micro$ have churned out, Outlook is actually a rather good program - I'd recommend it over anything else
You either get another sync software that will let you sync with the software you use to manage contacts on your pc, or connect to your pocketpc using something like http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/rce.shtml that will let you control the ppc from your windows desktop.
Ok, another question
i used to sync my device with outlook with the option of combine contacts between the two devices, the peoblem now is that i have a many duplicated contacts over 1500 contacts, is there any program or tip to remove this duplicates easly.
thank u in advance
I haven't tried it myself, but I found this on Google:

Outlook Contacts Synchronization Problems

I have 368 contacts in Outlook and I use the ActiveSync to synchronize those contacts with Trinity.
Well, believe it or not only the 320 contacts are copied into my device, an some of them are missing elements (phone numbers, notes etc...).
Has anyone faced this problem before?
This should be the most straight forward process, but for some reason for me it is not!
Any help would be much appreciated as at the moment I can not use the device as my primary telephone...
Thank you!
...and I am answering to myself saying that,
any contact in Outlook 2003 with a Note is not copied to the PDA.
Additionally, any contact that has a number that is categorized as Primary is copied to the device but the telephone number is not!
Please, if there is a Thread with similar content, transfer this topic there as I think that it may be of interest of other people.
I suggest you send your findings to microsoft. It looks like a bug either in Outlook or WindowsMobile.
You are right!
But if I am the only one who notices it, then I am not sure if there is something wrong with the configuration of wither my PDA or my PC.
Although, in general, these problems should not appear...
If a device can be synchronized Outlook, it synchronizes! Period.
Well, if anyone is interested, the problem that I am describing, has to do with my PC. I connected the PDA with my work's PC and Laptop, and it could synchronize contacts with Notes.
I also downloaded and installed SP2 for Office 2003 in my Home PC, but still there was a problem with the synchronization.
At the moment I can not find the reason why the two machines can not cooperate for these kind of contacts.
Any ideas by anyone?
did you try outlook self repair? Did you try Office Update?
I also have a similar problem. But I did not go into details to find exactly why some contacts are syncd and other not. Also some contacts are occasionally duplicated.

I tried both of them.
I also tried to uninstall all Office apps, and reinstall them and still didn't work.
I am so desperate that I am starting to think a complete rebuild of my PC.
I checked anywhere I knew. Outlook Options, Forums, Microsoft, Google. I do not know how to fix this...
Any help from anyone?

Hmm... Do you have Outlook Categories in use? Do you use subfolders?
Do the "non-synced contacts" have special characters e.g. a street named "Löwenstr."?
It is a very strange problem you have.
I had the same problem....
The only thing that helped me was to install a newer version of activesync...
After the Upgrade to 4.5 all was OK...
hi
anybody knows how to set in contacts to see just the contacts from the phone not mixed with sim contats
thanks
You couldfind it in the forum if you search "hide Sim", I think. But anyway you edit the Registry:
Registry
HKCU
ControlPanel
Phone
ShowSim = 0

Ive had exactly the same problem on my Hermes and previous models with AS4.5.
Only resolve is to create a new contact without anything in the notes field. weird.

Losing sync?

I have Vista, several times now I have lost sync with my ppc, and the only way to fix it is to reboot my computer. Also, it gives a 'unknown USB device' error when I dock it.
Ideas?
Do you have the latest version of the Mobile Device Center? It's 6.1.6965 I believe.

I do have the latest.
I've had the same problem with XP and ActiveSync. Usually I would just unplug&replug the usb, but if there's a fix for this it would sure help a lot of headaches.
I am having this same problem right now. I have a lot of items in my calander and I can not lose them. Is there any why to back up the calander with my hotmail with out using the PC?

use ppcpimbackup http://www.dotfred.net/default.htm
That way you know your contacts and calendar stuff will be safe until you sort it out. Worst case, you will have double contacts. If this is the case, you can delete all the outlook calendar events, sync, and then restore.
I have the same problem as well. It sounds like this is something new htat is cropping up and so far is unresolved.
Here is a link over at PPCGeeks that discusses the problem.

hi Cooney,
you can try using iMobileTool Windows Mobile Backup Suite.
It allows you to backup both contacts and SMS from windows mobile to computer - Backup contacts and SMS into Text file format(.txt file).
I would backup your contacts in a .txt file via your HD and then transfer that file over to your PC, when you connect your phone via USB, make sure you select the Disk Drive radio button to avoid having ActiveSync immediately synchronise with Outlook. Then access your Removable Disk from My Computer and transfer the file over to your PC from there.
Hope this works.
Best Regards.

When you first establish an Activesync connection to your pc, it asks if you want to merge phone and pc, replace phone details with pc or pc details with phone. Choose either the first or last option (first is better for future sync's)
The iMobileTool Windows Mobile Backup Suite sounds like a good idea but it costs too much. I discovered that i could change the settings before it synced my contacts, so now i have it connected to the computer but still no way of moving my contacts from the phone to the computer. Are there no free ways of doing this?
Activesync is free. Did you not read my post?

Yes. That's the annoying thing, iMobileTool Windows Mobile Backup Suite as you will have to eventually have to pay for the software. However, if it makes any difference, you can download it from the link provided above, and use it's Free-Trial offer - allowing you to only backup the first 20 contacts/SMS.
EDIT: you might want to try Turbo Contacts Backup. It's free but it's requirements state it is only compatible with Windows Mobile Pocket PC 5 , 6 , 6.1... try it out and hopefully it will work with 6.5.
.
Regards.

Hi again Cooney,
First off, you are not stupid. Things are only easy when you know how.
Try this:
In WMDC on your PC, go to Options -> Settings and choose the setting to merge items on the desktop.
Hope this helps you out dude,
Best Regards.

Okay, my fault. I am using you as a guide as I don't use Windows 7 or WMDC
What you will need to do is delete your WMDC partnership (both on PDA and PC) and next time you try to sync your device to the PC with the USB cable, you should be given an option to merge your items or opt to replace all items.
Regards.

you got them to your PC, how? Should be reverse to get to your new phone.
You can sync them through ms exchange and active sync, you can sync them through ms exchange and google, you can sync them through MS My Phone.
Perhaps you need to understand your device better as this is a basic transfer.

I know of no way to convert your .vcf files back to your device without outlook.
What I would suggest is to download program called My Phone, create an account and manually enter your contacts on the website, so for future use, you can sync through the program to any WM device.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
thx man
but if i installed office 2003
would i be able to do it?

You can import it with outlook by going to File\Import (I think) and select the file type vcf, or use a softrware like vCard Import/Export.
There are programs (BitPim) that can convert the vcf to delimited text, etc.
Also, I believe gmail can import a vcf file, then you can set up your google as an exchange server (Set up new mail with m.google.com as your server, domain can be anything you want.)
You must have all of your contacts in 1 vcf file. I believe there is a DOS command that can merge multiple vcf files but I don't remember what it is.
Hope this helps.
