for sending a lot of texts at one time (over 100, like a "Happy New Year" to everyone in my phone book, or using SMSBomber to text 1 person a lot of texts, lol) I get a message saying "program" (handcent, or SMSBomber) is attempting to send multiple messages, select ok to continue, or cancel to stop" and it does this for every text after the 100. Anyone know of a way around this? I get in some fierce text war battles, and the only way to get around this is to send 100 texts, and then turn my phone off and back on.

Hello everyone. I apologize if this question has been asked already.
On my "dumb" phones like LG etc. in Verizon network, I can send text message by 1,000 characters w/ extended text message. I think it sends multiple messages encoded in a special way to get past the 160 character SMS limit.
But, on my Windows Mobile devices, I can only send/receive 160 char messages, and when I receive 161+ char message, I receive a notice saying that the text message has been modified to be compatible with this device.
Why is "dumb phone" so much better to handle extended text messages but Windows Mobile cannot receive? It's a little bit oxymoronic, don't you think? Is there any way to enable extended text messaging functionality to windows mobile devices? Thanks in advance!
odd when i go over 160 it tells me that 2 sms's will be sendt maybe it's a setting
or something in your rom
I can send, but it doesn't compile them all into one single extended text message. So recipient receive many text message all at one time... they say it's annoying.
Then, if they send me extended text message, I receive 160 char, and after that.. it break away and say "extended message has been truncated due to a lack of support for enhanced messaging on this device."
i'll send a text to someone, then for some reason. they will get the same text like 4 times. why is my phone keep sending the text? even a few hours or days?
thanks
hey bigpat, the issue is with the Cody SMS threaded messaging. Just upgrade your ROM and use the new built-in threaded messaging with WM6.1
I use the built-in text message program in WM6.1 and I get the same issue. Once in a while, I will get the "Message was not sent. Try again?" message. Of course I click it because I want the message to eventually go through, but the receiver will end up getting multiple messages.
The towers also much acknowledge a message is being sent or receive and then respond back with an acknoledgement. Until this is all complete and if you keep clicking resend. It may resend everything over and over.
My phones having the issue with receiving them. The phone receives a message sends back the ok, but never receives it back to the phone. This then causes the original message to continue to be pushed until it gets a response to allow the newer messages to come. Very frustrating.
Basically, I have all text messages from my girlfriend and friends since Oct. They are threaded and everything was fine until last week. My girlfriend's texts seem to have "disappeared" and the threading seems to have started from scratch. Only the recent msgs from last week appear in there.
I know the messages are still in the phone because if I turn off threading, I can see all past messages to/from my gf.
Does anyone know what's the deal with this?
Did I hit a limit or something with the number of messages in the threading?
Couple things i'm sure someone can help me with but first one is:
When I receive a txt msg and say im consistently chatting with someone. If i dont exit and reopen the message the amount of unread msg's starts adding up even though I'm in the conversation with them on the window. So eventually after like 20 txts between the person, I have to exit and reopen the message to show all the messages have been read. Its so friggin annoying!!! Any solutions?
Another thing I just cant figure out but if I have call waiting and I'm in a call, how the hell do I switch to the other line on this phone???? I cant figure it out.
1. Use your d-pad to scroll up in the SMS app to clear unread messages...
2. You just push the green talk button to flash to the other line.
Sweet... I cooked my phone with Cfays 6.5.1 ROM and its fixed in that... When you get like 5 txt msgs, u read it once and they're all marked as read.... so happy.
Hey guys, currently on this setup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827593, and have been suffering proper lag with SMS. I have well over 4000 texts, but recently I've noticed proper speed issues.
For one thing, the phone first lights up, waits about 7 seconds, and then shows the text (using sms popup in handcent sms). The second issue is sometimes, texts come in a lot later than they should. I've noticed getting about 3 texts after I send one, like after I send a text I'm reconnected. It's random though, usually get texts at the right time. Sound familiar? Cheers.
4ooo texts... I think you should start deleting a bit... In any case that will help!!!
1-save your texts with sms backup.
2-use HandCent SMS app ***
3-delete your texts
defs delete sum of ur texts lol.... even if its just 1k wud probz make whole loada difference
