Hello All,
I had stock 32A ROM and trackball worked (mainly I used it in camera and camcorder).
I have updated to cursor sense UI ROM and suddenly I saw that clicking on the trackball doesn't do anything, the zoom is working, but no picture is taken.
I got back to stock ROM and then I saw that trackball click still doesn't work.
E.G you can use trackball on recovery screen to move up and down, but select doesn't work if you click on the trackball.
The phone didn't fall or something...
Any idea how to get back the select upon trackball click?
Thanks,
that's strange... I cannot really help but the only thing I can tell you for sure is that the trackball click doesn't work with the hero recovery, you have to use the green call key to click. It should work fine in Android and with the camera though... and what's very surprizing is that is still doesn't work after reverting to the stock ROM.
I had a similar problem, but couldn't click anything to GET cursor installed using the hero recovery.
No trackball, and the call-answer button didn't work to click either.
It works great once I do the downgrade back to the 1.5.2 ra-sapphire though.
So I seem to be able to give up and get my phone working again when I give up on the install at night but I'd love to get my phone up on data again.
I'll eventually have to cave and get the Rogers rom going if I can't figure this out.

Ok if anyone here has ever used a real android phone, you would know that whenever you touch the screen for anything, your softkeys below light up so you can continue to navigate yourself around (Back, home, menu, search).
Till this day I still have not found an Android build that will do this. Am I wrong? Is there one out there that will mimic this function?
I cant tell you how frustrating it is, when im in a dark room, on the internet and I wanna go back, but I press the home key - because I cant see anything!
Please gimme some hope.
Thanks.
What build are you using ?
I have the same problem on Froyostone 2.3, but its not a huge deal for me
the same Q ask for help

This would just waste battery. It can't be that hard to press back (one key in from the right) instead of home (one key in from the left).
Sent from my HTC HD2
Well every android phone I've ever used has this built into it. My touch, Nexus one, Galaxy S - etc.
It is extremely frustrating to do without it. The amount of battery it would waste would be so minoot, it would be more worth it than not.
Plus the way it works is, if the screen has not been touched for 5-10 seconds then it will auto time off, therefore saving battery.
The screen is only on while you are actively touching the screen.
I have used shubCRAFT 2.0★CM6, Mdeejay FroYo Sense Series, darkstone HD2Froyo V3 and none of them do this.
Is it that difficult to implement this?
so I just noticed the lights for my hardware buttons are stuck on, happens from the moment the phone turns on, and nothing changes it (though they seem to dim slightly) I've tried reflashing the phone (using mdj cyanogen 2.7, nand with magldr 1.12)
I tried searching and havent seen anything like this. Only thing I can think is maybe it got a little wet(?) while I was recording video during a snow storm here, but nothing else seemed wrong, just got home and noticed it. Any ideas?
I have the exact same problem. I've flashed back to the original windows mobile rom and the problem is still there! I've searched and yet to find the solution. Anyone got any ideas?
Check to see if you have a voicemail - you may have read it but closed VM before listening to all the message, it can on occasions do this - it I'm right just ring your phone leave a fresh VM then go into VM and listen to the whole message
Thanks for the reply, but no dice on this one. I tried the voicemail thing and I have no voicemails.
To clarify it's the bottom 5 buttons (call, home, windows, back and power) that are constantly lit up. Even when the phone goes on standby those buttons stay lit. I'm looking to see if there's an app that can just shut them off.
I got the same problem. My hd2 got some water on it and the problem started. The hardware keys now getting dim but not getting completely off. There is no other problem
Please help.
same problem on my father htc click

Thanks, I will try the rom.
But do u really think its a rom problem ? The keys light were working fine before the water hazard in the same existing rom. Besides the problem is also there when u are in the boot menu of MAGLDR or Clockwork menu.
any updates from anyone? On miy HD2 the vol up, start, back & end call key don't respond to any presses but seem to be active. Calls will randomly end, vol up acts as if the button is kept pressed!
Help!
Hi guys,
A little bump in this thread, but is there already found a solution for this problem?
After a hard reset and replacing the digitizer of my htc HD2, the buttonlights remain on. Even when the phone gets in standby mode.
I'm using cyanogenmod 7. (bought it like this. Didn't put android on it myself)
After the hard reset and digitizer replacement there also came another problem.
When pushing the windows logo (key 158) the volume up button also reacts (key 115). Thesame problem occurs when pushing the dial button. With that key (231), key 114 (volume down) reacts.
So when i want to open a menu or make a call the volume goes up or down.
Do you guys think I screwed something up when replacing my digitizer or is it just an software issue caused by the hard reset?
All right guys, it was an hardware failure.
I reopened my htc and checked all the connectors and (re)placed some of the yellow tape. After the reassembly, my phone just works as it should. All problems are solved.
My HTC HD2 also got the keys stuck after only a week of use. T-Mobile is sending me a replacement phone today.
Is this a common problem? I'm afraid it may happen again.
Hey guys I'm having same issue. Going to try opening up and check connectors.
So i've been dealing with this for the last week or so and I finally decided to stop searching and scouring the internet and ask for some help from my XDA brethren.
I don't exactly know how or why, but all the hard buttons on my HD2 do not work anymore. Volume up and down, pick up, home, menu, back, and hang up buttons... all not working. They all stopped working at the same time.
I don't really care except for the fact that I cannot wake my phone up after it locks/sleeps. I tried an app called Shake and Wake with no luck. Any sugguestions? or should I just look for a new phone? I really don't want to give up on my HD2... we've been through a lot! Thanks a ton you guys, I really appreciate it.
If I were you I would head on over to the nexus one threads and ask the question.
That phone only has one button, and some folk have had that not work, so they are used to the problem, and I'm sure they will have a solution for you. Worth a try anyway........
Button Savior - free from Market
Jadrobe, I really like button saviour but that still doesn't solve my problem, how do I wake the phone up without any buttons?!!
do your volume buttons work? if so, you could use ButtonRemapper (paid app) to remap one of your volume buttons to work as your power button and do the rest with button savior.
Nope, none of the buttons work!! I'm screwed!
Then yes, you are indeed screwed. Sorry for your misfortune.

Pretty much. If you have one working button then you could use an app called "button remapper"
Have you flashed back to stock/something different yet? Seems a touch coincidental that they all go at once. The bottom 5, or the two volume yea, cos they're on two separate input busses, but for both to fail together... not saying it couldn't happen, just saying it could be something else.
If there not working how do you turn on your phone?
When I slide the battery into the phone it automatically boots up as if I pushed in the power button.. it never used to do that before.
And also right after it powers up it sends me straight to slide to shut down which kind of makes me believe I may have the power button stuck on or something? I'm going to try to flash the stock rom and see what happens. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks!
Dude!! Proximity Screen Off (look in Abdroid Themes and Apps sub-forum) could fix you up in combination with button savior !
It has an option to use the prox sensor to put your phone to sleep and to wake it. The downside is it will drain your battery faster than normal because the prox sensor is in use when the screen's off. But it could keep your phone useable til you can get your buttons fixed (probly just your power button is malfunctioning it sounds like to me)

Thanks a ton Huggs. I'll definitely look into it, as the main reason I love this phone is for Android roms!
So far i've had good luck with this Winmo 6.5 app. I had to revert to the base/stock Tmo rom and it works okay.
Shake and Wake
http://www.xda-developers.com/windows-mobile/shakenwake-mod-for-hd2/
so it only does it sometimes but my mytouch can just sit there and all the sudden u feel the lil vibrate like you pressed the camera button. but i didnt touch it. it gets annoying . middle of texts. watever im doing it happens. any suggestions?
stop pressing the button, of figure out what ever is making the button stick, with out knowing if oyu are rooted and what rom you are running those are the only two options.
sorry, just cm7 but i noticed it did this before i rooted and put cm7 on there, when i did get cm7 on there it stopped for awhile but started acting up again. dont know really wat to think , i was just seeing if anybody had it happen to them before or if anybody knows a fix
Does it actual start the camera application?
If it has happened on multiple ROMs, then it sorta sounds like a hardware issue...
So the problem is obvious, the option to disable the lights of hardware buttons no longer works after updating to (stock) Gingerbread. It worked well while I was on Froyo btw.
Any suggestions? It really drives me nuts, I love to read at night and button lights really distract me every time I go to the next page.

+1,good Question
If you're up for a ROM change, genokolar's CM7 works fine with the disabling lights feature of FBReader.
New ROM sounds good, but I also would like know the reason behing this weird behaviour. CM and Gingerbread must be very similar just because CM7 is based on GB, and I believe if CM lets FBReader to control button lights, stock GB too can be tweaked to do the same.
I summon a developer in this thread!
