Facebook and Outlook Integration Issue in Manila 2.5 - Touch HD General

Newer versions of manila 2.5 have an issue regarding the facebook infos (like birth date and photo) not syncing with outlook contacts. I've been googling and browsing my registry and found this registry key HKCU\Software\HTC\People\FBUpdating, the default value is "0" and I tried to change it to "1" but after a soft reset it goes back to "0". Maybe this could be the key to properly sync the facebook and outlook contact.

Goodlink and Pocket Outlook

I have Goodlink 4.8 on my MDA. For some reason 'Contacts' in my Pocket Outlook is now pointing to my Good Contacts file, instead of the Pocket Outlook contacts. The Calendar, Tasks, Messaging go to the right files, instead of the Good equivalents. Is there a registry entry or something that I could edit to point Pocket Outlook back to its Contact information?
Basically, I want to be able to edit the Pocket Outlook contacts. I use them principally because that is where Voice Command and voice tags search.
I wonder if someone without Goodlink installed could tell me where their \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Pocket Outlook\Contacts.lnk points to.
Goodlink changes this to its own file and I'm trying to change it back.
I am running Goodlink 4.9.1.46
I am using POutlook Contacts in conjuction with Goodlink. Much better implementation that Goodlink contacts.
My shortcut has a defined target of :
poutlook.exe contacts
Thanks. That target doesn't cause anything to run when I use it, so I think Goodlink has messed with something else as well. I'm going to see what is involved in upgrading to 4.9, since you are successfully doing exactly what I want to achieve.

Let me look some more. There might have been a reg tweak also. It has been awhile since I set this up.
Thankfully, Goodlink for me will be going away soon in favor of corp push!

CRAP! Mine reverted to Goodlink for some reason today!
I have a buddy at work that has the original contacts.lnk. I am going to try his and see what happens. If they work, I'll let you know.

Found a solution.
Get Total Commander.
Go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Pocket Outlook in TCM
Copy\Move Tasks.lnk to Contact.lnk
Hold down on the new Contacts.lnk and select properties.
Go to the Shortcut tab and change poutlook.exe tasks to poutlook.exe contacts then click ok.
with Contacts.lnk still selected, open notpad and change MSTASKS to MS CONTACTS and the last set of digits to -10000
This should restore use of Poutlook contacts when you open from home screen or Start/Programs/Pocket Outlook/Contacts.
I have not found out how to change the soft key contacts from Goodlink Contacts to Pocket Outlook contacts yet.
Tried this but it didn't work for me. Interestingly, everytime I clicked the icon (which started Goodlink Contacts), it changed the .lnk target back to Goodlink!

Strange. The reason I had to figure how to change mine back was theat, for some reason, the links went back to Goodlink. Guess we'll se how long mine lasts this time. Had been working for months being able to access Pocket Outllok version of contacts.
Sorry.
My old solution
I used to use this solution, but i've ditched goodlink for DirectPush.
If you navigate in the registry to
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\
you can modify the string of one of the hardware keys to
"\Windows\poutlook.exe" contacts
That will launch Pocket Outlook Contacts. I have used my voice command key because i never use voice command.
Alternatively, you could create a shortcut that passes the argument -contacts when it executes poutlook.exe.
I hope that helps!
That worked! Thanks.
So strange....
Workaround to Change back to Pocket Outlook settings after installing Goodlink email
Workaround to Change back to your original Pocket Outlook settings after installing GoodLink email
1. Rename the files in attached images ( as I have renamed the files by prepending 1 in both "Mydevice\Program Files\GoodLink" and "Mydevice\Windows" ). This will allow you to use Pocketoutlook contacts as main contacts instead of goodlink contacts app. This change doesn’t impact the installed goodconacts application.
2. Change below settings to send sms directly by selecting a contact in Pocket Outllook. This workaround goes directly to Mobile SMS instead of GoodEmail.
HLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS\1 = GoodEmail.exe
Change to 1 = tmail.exe
3. Change below settings to have your Main Menu go directly to Pockect Contacts instead of Good Contacts.
HLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSCONTACTS\ 1 = GoodContacts.exe
Change to 1 = :MSPOUTLOOK contacts
Enjoy Pocket Outlook,

Filtering Appointments by Category in MS 3.5 and/or Manila 2.5

Has anyone found a way to filter your appointments by category in either SPB MS 3.5 or Manila??
I have both my and my wife's calendar entries on my phone, categorized, and I would like to make it so that only my appointments show on the agenda view of SPB MS or on the calendar tab of Manila. I can't find a setting anywhere, so I'm guessing one doesn't exist. I'm happy to do a reg edit if anyone knows what I need to change. Thanks!

[Q] HTC Calendar Problems

I've been trying all day different combinations of Appointment Editor and Manila Calendar and my appointments will not show up. I can directly add one, and it will show up for a half second after I add it, then it disappears. I go into Microsoft Calendar in the phone and the appointment I added shows up, but never on the Manila Calendar tab. Please help!
Right now Im using Appointment Editor v1.0.20113829.0_HD2 and Manila Calendar v2.5.20111823.0_HD2

[Q] Setting the default htc calendar view

When I click on an appointment on the home page it launches HTC calendarin agenda view, is there anyway to have this either launch Outlook calendar or HTC calendar but in day view? HTC Calendar settings only gives options for reminders and default first day of week. I have looked around in the registry but have had no luck.
1. Diable calendar tab. This will make you jump directly to outlook calendar.
2. Or you can opt for a more advanced type of calendar app. Install ThumbCal.
I thought I had managed to do this once before, however when I just tried again (removed the calendar from the homescreen tabs) clicking on the calendar entry on the homepage now does nothing. I have done a soft reset but still the same. Any ideas?
Actually, the calendar link on the homepage is weird. It only works properly with the calendar tab. Once you remove the calendar tab, the link works only under certain strange conditions, described as follows:
1. If you have appointments for today, the link will not work. It can only show you one entry of today's appointments.
2. If you have NO appointments for today, and calendar link is a blank (i.e. showing on the "calendar" name on it), then the link will work to bring up outlook calendar.
So basically, it's inconsistent. That's why you have to forget about the calendar link of homepage. It's useless.
Here are some of the options you can do.
1. Place the outlook calendar on the of the quick links. (You'll have to swipe up on the homepage to access it.)
2. Use "Bsb Tweaks" app to change the left soft key of Sense UI to outlook calendar. (Originally, the "Phone" app sits on this soft key. But it works exactly the same way as the call key at the bottom of the phone. Making it redundant and useless.)
3. On your Start menu, bring the "Outlook" folder icon up to the top of the menu. That way, it will be easy to access outlook calendar anytime from under any running apps, by tapping the windows button, then outlook folder, then calendar.

[Q] Outlook sync adds invitations to calendar entries

Happy New Year. I recently had to reset and rebuild my HD2, so I installed Outlook on my PC and used active sync to "back up" my HD2 contacts, calender, tasks, etc. Everything looked OK on the PC so after clearing and rebuilding the HD2, I used sync again to restore things from the PC. Almost everything restored OK and most of the oddities were fixed by editing the entries. However, I am left with one outstanding issue that has stumped me; Every calendar entry thinks it has been sent to me as an invitation. Each entry has "Invitation from: Unknown". I do not know why this has happened, but I cannot get to this calendar field by editing the entry. Does anyone know how to remove the "Invitation from" field, or have an editor that will allow me to do it? Thanks.
