htc ear buds are rubbish !!! - HD2 General

can anybody recommend a decent set of earbuds with music control on them for my hd2 as the ones htc supply are utter tosh. either my earholes are way too small or the supplied ones are made for giants ears. cheers............

I use Motorola S9-HD Bluetooth headphones, amazing unbelievable sound with no wires also has SRS WOW HD Surround sound built in, the must have for all music fans

Most headphones that come with the devices are usually crap. Just like with the iPod and the HTC Touch Diamond.

I too have these - and the sound is excellent - probably the best available for bluetooth (i have tried alot)
Only problem is they are not resistant to sweat liek they say (im on 3rd pair replaced by warranty - i run or gym every week day)
so in conclusion - best sound, but bad for training

Saying that though, I'm a wireless fan, and these, for me, are unbeatable...

Hi,
I recently modified the headset as written in

Works verry nice...

I agree the supplied ones sound pretty good for an issue pair, but for what freaky ears are they made for???
I too use motorola s9's and rate them highly.

i would also add that i have a pair of ALTEC 903 bluetooth headphones and they are also very good, a little cheaper than my S9-HD and they sound nearly as good.
They are a more comfortable fit because they are not so solid (linked instead by a wire accross the back of the neck)
the 903 are a bit cheaper

So, just because your ears are too small, you call HTC's headphones rubbish?
What's wrong with people today? Where has all the common sense gone?

naah seriously...those stock earphones are shyt :|
hurts my ears within 15-20mins of wearing them.
And to make matters worst....try putting on a motorbike helmet with those earphones on :|

Are there also wired remote controls with a mic. and a 3.5mm output for some earbuds?
Cause i agree: the ones from HTC are rubish, but I do have a set sennheisers (with a short cord), but no remote control or mic..

Does the remote work as well?? If they do I will buy it first thing tomorrow

I think the stock HTC ones are quite nice, definitely the best stock earphones I've owned. My only complaint is that they are too small for jogging and they keep falling out. I was looking to buy a new set but then saw the solder mod you can do with the stock earphones and I think I'll be doing that soon as I have quite a few good pairs of extra earphones lying around.

Stuttering sound with Jabra Stone bluetooth headset

Hello
I just bought a Jabra Stone bluetooth headset. http://www.slashgear.com/jabra-stone-review-1960951/
However the audio stutter when making phone calls. If I watch Youtube or any other kind of audio it doesn't stutter... only when making phone calls.
Does anyone know what could be causing this??
Brgds... /TubGirl
Spending too much money? Sorry, couldn't resist that...tbh,no idea at all...I'm still using Jabra BT205's and BT250's and have no problem with them whatsoever...maybe you got a "rum un"? Can you take it back and try another one or find someone else you know who's got one that you can try to see if it's just yours thats misbehaving?

But if it works fine with other apps then it suggests that it's the phone and there's something different about bluetooth audio when using the phone application.
Incidentally tubs, nice headset!

Not too sure I follow your logic there...using other apps such as utube is a one way street (only the speakers being used) but for calls its microphone is needed as well...I know which I'd rather rule out as being dodgy and it aint the £500 phone

True, but I thought that bluetooth was bi-directional by nature, regardless of whether both directions were required. I know I may be wrong, but that's what I thought.
Actually I think during phone calls the handsfree profile is used... when listening to other audio the A2DP profile is used. Maybe that can explain the difference.

What can I say... I have a taste for gorgeous gadgets That's why I got the HD2 in the first place
And the Jabra Stone is really gorgeous... only wish I could get the sound to be gorgeous too.
Thats quite obvious from your choice of phone.. did look at the stone myself but couldn't justify the price when older models are so cheap and I still needed memory card,2 phone holders, silicon case, screen protector stuff and a leather case (still not got that yet)....Is the stone the only bluetooth headset you have available at the moment or do you have the stuttering with an older headset too?

Stone is the only headset I have. When I pair it with a Nokia N82 the sound is good.
Oh dear....of course it could still be a compatability issue with the Hd2 but unless you try either a different stone or another HD2 with your stone there's no way of telling unless anyone else reading this has a stone too....in which case feel free to chime in as I'm running out of steam here.. Hope it works out well for you Tubs

Hi there, I dont know if this will be no news to most people out there, but ppl, I just realised if you get the iphone ear phones with the mic, You can use it on the Hero for the following
- Receive Calls
- As Expected Listen to Music
- But You can actually squeeze the mic once to pause the song,
- Squeeze it 2 quick times and it will change the track
If you know of any other ways to use the earphone pls drop me a line but right now Illd go back to enjoying this two lil piece of hardware I have that make my life far much better.

As much as I hate apple, thanks for this! I'll be putting this tip to good use
I wonder what other brands are similarly compatible
I've been using my old iPhone earphones since I switched to the Pre last summer
Love them... great quality on the audio, too.
I think the factory iPod/iPhone head phones are garbage. The sound quality is horrible. I guess thats why they can afford to give them away at the moron bar.
My guess is though, if you have a set of good sony's that are iPhone compatible they would be Hero compatible as well.

Maybe I'm just a music snob, but does anyone else think the Hero sounds like crap? If you don't you probably have never tried to listen to it over amplified speakers (like in the aux jack in a car). Total crappola Damn shame too, there was great potential for awesomeness.
Yeah I noticed that it doesn't sound all that great as well. espically with car speakers

i have a pair of samsung earphones that work as playback and mic during calls, the mute button even works.
is it wierd my g1 soubded better over my car speakers, and that i had to get the usb to headphone jack adapter. ha!
I know the ones that come with the pre and the moment work as well. And yes the Hero seems to be eq'd very strange. Way to much mids and bass in the car makes things a tad muddy.

are you streaming music to a HU with a DAC, or playing on some BT headphones? Seems like if you stick to the smaller speakers it sounds acceptable. That may explain the weird EQ settings, trying to overcome the poor quality earbuds most people like to use.

What type of earphones do you use? I play most of my music at volume level 3, which is loud enough. I wouldn't want to play at max volume, that would damage my ears for sure. I'm using Creative in-ear heaphones btw, I believe they are EP-630.

Those are pretty bad in my opinion. If you try in-ear headphones, that go deeper into your ear, you'll need less volume and they will cancel noise.

I have experienced in-ear headphones and they irritate me. But that is totally different issue. What now has become a fact is that when it comes to music quality x10 does not even match my old Sony MP3 player (I bought in 2006) and iphone is way ahead in music.
On the positive side I have yet to see a cell phone with better video quality then x10. I have been watching full length movies on it during my travels and enjoying it. Though I wish I could enjoy some quality music on it as well

Them sony earphones are junk. You never get quality earphones with any phone. Personally i would not use any earphones that are worth under £30/35 euro's.
I'd recommend something from Sennheiser or Grado.

seeing as you dont use in-ears this would be your best shot: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDRE82...e=UTF8&s=officeproduct&qid=1274031484&sr=8-11or this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-...KL5A1OLE&s=electronics&qid=1274032116&sr=1-41
even then I cant guarantee they would be louder. In ears and over head earphones are the best.

I would have but I can't. For two reasons:
i. We most likely are oceans apart. I am in Pakistan. Don't knw where you are.
ii. I bought A4Tech MK-690-B sound isolating earphones and that has made significant change in the loudness. Its loud and I am enjoying it. Although I still think iPhone's iPod beats x10 in bass and pitch the sound on new headphones is nonetheless not bad. I can live with it happily. I guess I was quick to judge x10i.

Car Audio

So last night my car was broken into and they trashed my alpine deck and stole my ipod. So today while shopping for a new stereo for my car I tried finding something that would work well with my HTC Hero. I was hoping for something that would bluetooth connect to my phone and access the music on my sim card. Does anyone have a suggestion on this?

I'm on a Pioneer DEX-P99RS Ipod/anything USB.
Works well for me. Just plug in USB and mount it like you do a PC. reads all the tracks and ID3 tag info for you.
Not as fancy as bluetooth, but it works. This head unit maybe a bit high for most people. This was my first Pioneer, I was always an Alpine guy until now. I will never buy another Alpine after hearing this thing.

Depends on the adapter I think. Pioneer offers 2 that will connect through Ibus. I want to say it's just Music on mine, and the other actually has a Mic you can run...I'm in it strictly for the boom and to piss off the cops
I have an "aux in" jack in the console of my car. I just use a male-to-male audio cable. Pandora comes in very handy on long car trips.
oh no. K! Don't go down that road! I'm not saying you don't need a stereo that will hit 130db, but that should be the third or forth thing you worry about! First you gotta take care of your hub caps...are they spinnin' man? ARE THEY SPINNIN?
OP, I had a pretty decent deck that did both voice and music over bluetooth...had a pretty decent little touchscreen on it, too...I'll try to remember what it was and get back to you.

I haven't tried since updating to a 2.1 ROM, but with the stock 1.5 I had lag issues running bluetooth audio to my stereo Moto headset. Mostly when using the radio at the same time, like pandora or if it decided to do a sync. I have an older Pioneer with a 3.5mm headphone hooked up, works amazing for me. Would be interested in finding out if the bluetooth works flawless.
Thinking of getting this one it says it does bluetooth audio streaming

radios dont support ad2p at least i have yet to find one so u cant stream audio over bluetooth but u can still do 3.5 or usb
Well right here under the General Features it says A2DP support and says yes
http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainment/2008_Car_Entertainment/KDC-X994
in my experience kenwood got very fuzzy at high frequencies.
im hugeee into a2dp and the BEST quality chip is sony.
so ANY sony xplod MEX-BT series are amazingg.
i used to hate sony xplod until i tried the bt audio. i have the low end one i got for like 80 bucks. it only has an aux jack and bt but you cant tell a difference in aux and bt.
(im an audiophile too)
i tried kenwood and quality was lost badly for me. Dual brand is by far the worst bt quality on earth. pioneers were ok but low fidelity with a2dp.
anyways hopes that helps.

Just bought this myself on eBay for $219 free shipping. Totally worth it, I was able to get rid of my AudioControl EQL equalizer because the sound quality was just that good. I'm having some issues getting 2.1 to remember the pairing, but other than that I can totally recommend the x994 on the merits.

Gotta say I picked up the dual at wally world for like 100. The bluetooth is pretty decent as far as the sound reception goes. Only gripe I have with it is when I would get a call the bluetooth wouldn't pick up but if I would call out then it would. That was before I got 2.1 on my hero. The music plays smoothly though. No connection issues at all either. Plus they are fairly cheap to be had at least if your concerned about that.
Dunno if this was suggested, but my boyfriend got the Sony MEX-BT2800 and I connect my phone to it with little issues. Audio works very nicely, as well as calls, though the built in mic can throw some people off but make sure to switch it from the default low sensitivity to high sensitivity to pick up your voice better (picks up engine noise more but no worse than talking on my BT headset). I really need to get this for my car heh.
I'm not a big sony person but thanks for the information. I'm heading out tonight to go check out and pick up a new unit. What ever I get I will come back and give an update on what I think of it and how it works with my Hero.
Thanks

I have the Monster Clarity HD bluetooth speaker and it works like a champ, and the sound quality is good. Its also a lot cheaper.

I haven't had any issues with the built-in mic messing things up, and all the other controls(play, pause, FF, Rew, etc.) seem to work well.

Considering how small it is, it does a really good job. It has a built-in passive subwoofer that fires from the top. Its not gonna blow you away with earth shaking lows, but the bass notes are there and very clear. I am running Flexreaper ROM on my A500 at the moment and using the equalizer app thats included I get the lows dialed in pretty damn well. Keep in mind that I mainly listen to pretty lo-fi punk rock so the bass is fairly minimal anyway. But when I do listen to something with heavy bass, it sounds good.
thanks ill look into getting one then just bought a case with keyboard built in ;-)
Thanks
