I am an Android User in South Africa, therefore i dont have access to the paid market.
i use Market Enabler whenever i open the market so that i can see and buy paid apps. this worked when i flashed a new rom and ran MarketEnabler before i opened the market and this successfully gave me access to the "Top Paid" tab. now, after rebooting my phone, i opened Market without opening MarketEnabler and the "Top Paid" section naturally disappeared. but now after running MarketEnabler and reopening the market, the tab is still missing but i can see other Apps.
My question is, has anyone got any info as to where the Market Checks to allow the showing/hiding of the "Top Paid" tab as MarketEnabler is obviously not reseting this.
Also, a shortcut to silent run MarketEnabler and open Market directly thereafter may be worthwhile to make? any input is appreciated.

Okay, so since Day 1, I have not had access to the Paid tab in the Android Market, before or after root/oem unlock. As for the paid apps linked to my google account, they do show up, and i find myself able to download them after repeated tries... but I have no access to any others... The tab for Free Apps show up, and these download just fine.
I am using an international SIM card (from Grenada), could this be the culprit?
I'm a little confused about what you're looking for.
If you click Apps on the main screen, then click All Applications or something like that, you don't then see a Top Paid, Top Free, Just In tab? That's weird.
Access to paid apps are controlled by location, but I'm not sure that the SIM is what gives it away.
Two things you can try; first take out the SIM card and connect via WiFi, see if you can see the paid apps you're looking for.
Second is find one of those Market apps that enable paid apps to be seen regardless of location; they might require root, though. I'm not sure.
Good luck.
A very easy way

info for those new
People create your amazon appstore username using the above method I have gotten about 55 paid apps for free i.e. 1 free app a day !!
Get yours
This is how to access the american android market, but could also be helpful in figuring out the amazon appstore.
To access the american market you'll need two applications:
1.Market Enabler --> from the market
2.Orbot--> from the market
Market enabler is an app that fakes a different service provider to access different markets.
Orbot is a transparent proxying application which hides the fact that you are using the american market.
1. Install both apps.
2. Open Market Enabler and long click the T-Mobile (US) provider.
3. Open Orbot and long click the on button until transparent proxying is enabled.
4. Open the market and voila!
Now upto 251 apps from the start approx worth of $400 of paid apps free. Although I must say sum of them are good some I hate. make the account today
My posts are becoming more more like an amazon marketing agent
this is awesome...thanks
They do actually check the IP adress now. Atleast I wasn't able to "buy" any free apps until I signed up through a proxy, I haven't tried if it's possible to use regular connection after signup though.
Thanks for the tips
You must have your phone rooted before installing market enabler. My phone are not rooted and I just want from the US market "mail.com mail" apk. If someone can help me. Thanks
Some apps i have on my phone i haven't got via the Android Market, lots ive got have been apk's ive got on XDA,etc, etc, what im wondering is, seen as i didn't get these apps from the market if i linked the selected apps to the market through the market doctor what is that supposed to do?
I have the Paddy Power app and Betfair app which were were initially on the Android market but for some bizzare reason Android market decided no betting apps were to be allowed to took them off the market so i went elsewhere and downloaded them and installed via root explorer, there are a couple of paid apps i also downloaded for free not something i usually do but whoever created these apps was taking the p*ss with the price they were charging so i refuse to pay over the odds for an app, taking all this into consideration what (if any) advantage would i have by linking these to the market and more's to the point considering i didn't get any of these particular apps from the market would the apps in question still link to the market?
anyone any ideas?
I would like to know how this goes too since I use SlideME Marketplace for some of my apps, it would be handy if it could all go under the Android marketplace for updating.
Isn't there anyone else with apps on their GS2 that they didn't get from the Android market that they might want to link to the market but are wondering the same?
So the new market does not play well with market access or market enabler.
And you can't live without the new market.
I found a trick for this maybe it's too much of a headache but if you want to use new market then what you have to do is
1. Install market access.
2. Go emulate say for example t mobile.
3. Go to settings/applications/manage/ and then uninstall the updates for market if any. .
4. So now you have the old market. Now open the market.
5. Then wait for some time. Since it is connected to t-mobile it will update to new market.
6. Now you can download all the apps you want with market.
The thing is it only works till restart. Then you have to repeat all the steps again.
Big hassle I know but if you absolutely have to use the new market then this is one way. Cheers.
Tried and tested on stock roms.
P. S. Simply use old market with market access and freeze market updater using titanium backup to avoid all the hassle and use US APPS.
I've been using market access and I have not had any issues whatsoever, even when I was updated to 3.1.5
Don't know about others but i have this issue, when i use market access it shows the currency sign in dollars but the applications do not show. For example if I search for vopium after a restart then it does not show in the new market unless i do the above procedure again.
Already installed apps show up just fine. Its the apps that are not installed that don't show up.
Please try for pandora or netflix.
I have heard some other people complaining about this so i put it up.
Edit: Also if you do the above procedure then it goes to US market page with movies, apps, games and books etc, after restart it goes off to Apps directly.
So any ROM I choose whether custom or stock, I hate using the market with it. For one I'll sign in and install apps.
Go to the Android Market website and sign in and none of them show under "My library" but any apps I install via the web interface show up there. But now any apps I did that for show up as "INSTALLED". I factory reset my phone so now I have 4 pages of apps saying "INSTALLED" when they are not installed what so ever.
So even if I did uninstall them they still show, plus when I reset. None of my applications re-download. I thought it was supposed to on Android...This is making me question getting another android device.
None of my apps re download and I'm glad because i have seen the garbage I've download in the past in my android market library. Also the android market library doesn't display all the apps i have installed in the past which again isn't a problem because i know which apps i need and no longer download useless garbage. I don't the the 'installed apps' bug though.
