Hey everybody.
You will have to excuse my ignorance and please don't assume any knowledge.
I recently got a HTC HD2 from T-mobile, with its own version of the ROM, and I have to say the problems with the weather application (and others) are beginning to get on my nerves.
While I could rant about how T-Mobile (UK) has managed to more or less damage an otherwise perfectly functional phone, I will instead ask for your help.
My brother uses a HD2 with a different network, and because of this has the "generic" ROM. I'd like to be able to install the same thing on my phone and still be able to use the t-mobile internet and mobile contract.
I've tried installing the generic ROM upgrade, but it won't allow me apparently due to the fact that t-mobile has some proprietary thing on my phone.
If you can help, please do. Like I said before, please don't assume any knowlegde or understanding: I need any help you give in the most simple terms you can bring yourself to use (I've tried reading other threads, and I've been completely overwhelmed by the jargon and things I don't understand).
Also, t-mobile have been no help whatsoever.
thanks in advance
Conradw
install hspl from the hspl sticky thread in the rom development section, download the official rom of your choice from the Leo official roms sticky thread, instal hspl, then flash the rom using usb. Job done.
oh my goodness. That simple.
Didn't solve my problem, but hopefully its a step in the right direction
Ok, I've read every forum from here all the way to modaco and I'm still unable to flash my rom. I did everything right down to a T as far as walk throughs, but Octans is not detecting my phone.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
I've changed the compatibility on Octans to XP SP3 and still no go
I'm running windows mobile 6.5 professional on the Omnia I920.
I really want to install Yardi's Custom Rom on my device but I'm starting to lose hope!
Please can someone help me out. I don't know what other info to put on here.
I installed VMWare 7 Workstation on my laptop. I also installed windows xp as a guest system.
So is there anyone who knows what I need to grab without going to modaco, because I am signed up with them, but it doesn't let me download anything that anyone posts as links. I have tried but have successfully failed.
I do plan on updating my xp to sp3 but I need to know everything I need to get my omnia i920 flashed to a kick butt rom.
Thanks in advance to everyone who can help.
What you need is available on modaco unfortunately.
Go here and read this thread www . modaco.com/content/i8000-omnia-ii-gsm-rom-discussion/296019/flashing-using-64bit-windows-7/
I have attached the drivers you need to install. It is not an easy task but once it's done it's done. If you need help I'll try to help you, but please read the thread first.

Actually I got it working on windows xp sp3 installed on vmware...and have flashed my phone prob twenty times now lol. Only issue I have now is I was using Ninja's rom but I couldn't receive picture messages under it. So I flashed back to stock. Well I hate stock. Too much bloatware. I liked your rom AMD but it had some programs that I didn't want on there..and some that I did want on there. Cooking a rom for myself is impossible I've tried every direction on this site and modaco's but no luck.
Anyway I can get you to cook me a custom rom with some stuff taken off and some stuff added in?
Sure. Give me a list.
I downloaded your new rom...I like how it looks. Ok, if you could base the rom off your current release but take off the following if you can:
Bing, Windows Live, Ferrari GT Evolution, Esmertec Jbed (don't even know what i can use that for lol), Pim Backup, O2 Flash, Sktools, and within office mobile can you delete all but word mobile?
I would like to have the bubble breaker game added back in, along with the fm radio, and since I am really not good at figuring things out yet, I love titanium is there a way to get it to work on your rom? And is it easy to put themes on here too? I tried some themes called colored lighting and it crashed the rom on ninja's.
Otherwise I am good ha ha. Thanks for trying to do this, sure wish I could figure out how to cook...i don't think it'll ever happen But I like your roms best outta Ninja's and Yardi. Yardi would be good, but she took the samsung keyboard out among other stuff I can't remember ha ha.
Thanks again. Can't wait to try it out!
I've built a LITE rom if you are interested in trying it before I release it.
also what is colored lightning? got a cab for it?
is the lite rom just a base rom minus the stuff you added to current version you have out? I would love to try it out colored lightning...is a theme from someone I don't have the cab anymore but I do have bluewave now...i found it here on xda...trying to find it for you
here is the link I don't know how to attach cab yet on here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558212
My Lite rom has many deletions. I have also deleted the samsung settings.
The titanium does work, are you looking for chome as well?
does your lite rom still have the samsung keyboard though. I really don't know much about chome..i know it modifies the titanium panels...so I guess that is a good thing to have as well
here is beta

It might just be me, but I'd never flash a phone thru VMWare, Unless of course you want to brick your phone.
Thank you so much. VmWare Workstation 7 is awesome. I installed windows xp sp3 on it...and it runs just like my windows 7 hp 64...only it runs on the desktop. It was much easier to flash thru that then through windows 7. I haven't bricked it yet thank goodness...never had any problems. I've flashed from yardi to your roms to ninja's...about 20 times already ha ha. Now i'm gonna check your lite rom out thank you so much for doing all this, I have been playing with your rom and it's darn new perfect except for the software I don't need..so I'll let ya kno what I think about your lite rom here in about 10 min or so
Ok, just tested your lite rom...looks good but I noticed you don't have the samsung keyboard in it Is there a cab available to put the xt9 keyboard back on...other than that I tested the mms and it worked..i gotta run through other tests but dude it looks sweet Let me know where I can get or how i can get samsung keyboard back on it.
Thanks again!
I hate to be such a pain about the rom...but I don't think the lite rom is going to work for me...I like almost all of the samsung stuff but I hate the verizon bloatware. I do like omarket, that is a neat app. I'm reflashing back to your other new release and if you get a chance to make a rom off it without the stuff i mentioned earlier and keeping the samsung keyboard and other stuff on it...it would be much appreciated. I would cook it myself but that would prob be the end of my phone ha ha.
I do like having 300mb free in the programs that was nice...sorry to keep bothering you.
I've been working on the Lite rom for a while, I'll get to the Base rom in a little while.
ok sounds great just let me know when you have one available for me to try. I do much appreciate it.
hacked up my lastest rom per your request. Let me know if it fits what your looking for.

I would like to upgrade it to 6.5 but have no Idea where to start or where I can get a cooked rom from .
I found a tute on flashing the 1.56 roms but the more I read the more confused I become. There is soooooo much information on here I am suffering from information overload and I cant seem to find a really basic step by step guide or where to download the cooked roms from all the links I follow are broken.
Its very frustrating for a newbie!!
Can someone please give me a leg up!

Hey Darkfibre,
Welcome to the world of phone flashing! First of all it's very important to know what kind of phone is it, is it GSM or CDMA? After that, you'll have to unlock the phone in order to flash a custom rom. If you've got a GSM device, then XDA is your best friend, if you have a CDMA phone then head over to ppcgeeks.com. Each site will have detailed instructions on how to unlock and flash your phone. Then it's just a matter of trying out a few roms until you find one that suits you. Goodluck and happy flashing!!

No worries, just follow this step by step guide:

It'll answer all questions.
Thanks the heads up guys.
I am just wondering what uncle is going to say when I tell him I turned his HD into a BRICK.
Here goes nothing
One can always use a good door stop! Goodluck!
Hi everyone.
Well I built up the courage and now its 6.5 Energy.Blackstone 21908.Sense2.5 rom.
WOW Wat a buzz when it boots up in the new rom.
Love the new ROMS its made the old HD a new phone. Now its smooth and responsive with great usability.
Just LOOOOVS the sense 2.5 interface.
Cant believe how much I have learnt in the last few weeks
You right Krook this could get adictive!!
I would like to get a pinch zoom working just to rub it in the nose of the apple buds!!
I loaded pinch to zoom but it didnt work. Is there a Rom where it works, or should I stay with opera 10.
I also run the android app on it but its a bit micky at the moment.
This **** is really exciting but HOW do you learn it all!!
I really bow to all you guys U the MEN!!!
Hey Darkfibre,
Pinch to zoom isn't really rom specific. I know I had a bit of trouble getting it going the first time. I believe opera 10 is still not supported but that may have changed. It works for me in Opera 9.7 build 35964. You may need to install a different version of opera to get it running. Still not really worth the effort imho but it's a great start.
Welcome to the community!!

Hey there,
A close friend of mine has a HTC Touch HD and he never updated its ROM or anything because, well, he's not really familiar with the whole Windows Mobile or HTC world in general, and neither am I.
It has recently been freezing way too much and I believe that's because it has never been formatted, updated, or anything. Therefore, I borrowed the device from him in an attempt to try and fix that.
I'm familiar with Nokias, BlackBerries, iPhones, and have actually owned a couple of HTC phones but for a short while and never really bothered with backing up, updating, or such.
Can someone please guide me on what to do? I believe it has Windows Mobile 6.1 and the latest is 6.5 (according to research I've done). There is also something called ROM which is the OS, I suppose, that you install on the device, and I found hundreds of ROM and I don't know WHICH one to install or even HOW to install it.
I have also downloaded HTC Sync from HTC's website but it's not detecting my phone at all. Right now I downloaded Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows 7 64-bit in an attempt to connect with the device and backup or w.e.
Thank you so much in advance and please help me!

Installing ROMs is eassy on XDA. There are a lot of guides! For example, go to the windows mobile ROM development and search for what you want!
Maybe this info will help you:
-a ROM is a file which contains the OS you want to install. To install a ROM, you must connect your phone to USB and use special tools (use a guide to know);
-BUT before flashing, you must have SPL, which is a bootloader unlocker so you can install any ROM you want. And you can also update your radio.
Just basic info, check the guides please!

Thank you for your reply, mate. I swear all I've been doing is checking the guides and the FAQ and I still cannot manage to do the HSPL unlocker, unfortunately. It keeps giving me an error. I'm going to try in a couple of hours and see what I can come up with.
Can you please link me to any ROM that is WM6.5 and working fine? I really don't care what is missing from or added from it as long as it's working.
read the sticky, where all the guides and the rom link there
Thank you guys very much. I read the guides in the threads (BlackSTONEhenge Hyper) and the guide on how to do the HSPL thing and it worked!
Right now I am at 80% of the WM6.5 ROM installation. Hopefully everything turns out great in the end.
By the way, all I needed to backup was the SMS messages and the contacts, and I did that on a site called Bloove. Right now I can see them on bloove.com in my account, but does any body have any idea how to restore them on the HTC device using Bloove?
Thank you very much.
