I am trying to dual boot WinMo and Android and having some issues with Android. Hopefully somebody has got this working on the Rhodium. I got it booted, but I can't access data, make calls, and its stuck in landscape mode. Can anyone help me with some tips, or settings changes?
Edit: Got the landscape issue handled. When I call I can't hear nothing, so I assume the hardware install failed. I can text, so I have service. No data. Any suggestions or help?
The thread says there are many issues with TP2 AKA Rhodium.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that someone doesn't have it working. Or can at least help with getting 1 of the 3 issues working.

I'd be interested in this as well...
I know it's frustrating, but you're just going to have to wait around for awhile. The developers are making progress, but it's still very slow going, especially with sound. Most hardware doesn't work at all, and the working hardware sometimes doesn't work properly.
For data, make sure you're using a kernel later than kernel 4, which is the kernel where data support was added. (links and info about the latest Android build can be found in my signature, called "Rhodium Android"). Also make sure you've manually configured an APN or use a new userland (system.sqsh) that has automatic APN configuration.
If you can find it, try using Kernel 13 for built in speaker in phone call support, as Kernel 14 (in the latest packages) displays oddly (though otherwise works). If you're using an earlier zImage (kernel) and don't want to upgrade, you can use the front speaker workaround, where you call your voicemail, boot with HaRET, and let it automatically hang up. After that workaround, the front speaker works with phone calls on the earlier kernels.
Hope that answers all your questions

simple enough! Go Here and then download the android 2.1 files once downloaded place to root of sd card after a fresh format. then make sure you copy BOTH startup files for the rhodium to the sd card (not sure if you need both but thats how mine works) and boot
I have full 3g and calls just no sound, wifi, bluetooth, gps but i havent changed the zimage in a while so dont know if there is a working one or not.
I ended up getting XDANDROID from another thread, and it seems to work quite well. The data, sound, and orientation all worker immediately. The only thing is that the apps from Marketplace won't get out of Starting Download, but I looked it up and that seems to be a common issue with the Android Marketplace. Thanks for the help!
XANDROID is awesome.
I just can't get it to shut down. I wonder if there's some trick to get it back to Windows Mobile without restarting the phone?
I am interest in this too

You have to restart the phone, it's simply not possible to do otherwise. The misconception is that HaRET/Android simply run along side Windows Mobile, when in reality, HaRET kicks Windows Mobile out of RAM, then loads the Linux kernel and eventually Android. You're essentially restarting your device into Android when you use HaRET, so you must restart in order to load Windows Mobile again.
Does anyone know specifically which version has working speaker (for playing music, etc?) And also, what is the proper way to get the apps on the SD card to install? I move them up one folder level as I read in another thread is necessary, but when i boot into Android they are still not showing up in programs list?

To answer both your questions:
There's no build with the speaker working for music, games, etc. The front speaker is working with phone calls, but even those builds don't support the back speaker doing other functions. The developers are working on this, but so far they haven't gotten it working yet.
There should be a folder on your MicroSD card called AndroidApps, and if there isn't, create one. Then, place the APK files you have into the AndroidApps folder and Android will install them on the next boot.

I recently upgraded to wm6 from the t-mobile site. At first it was running flawlessly and very fast. I have installed windows live, resco and tcmp and still things were quick. after a few weeks, strange things started happening. When i went to my SMS/MMS and began to write a message, the flashing cursor would move along as i typed but no letters would show up on the screen. If i saved this message inot drafts then opened it again, i could then see all the text i had written and was previously hidden.
Soon aftet this started happening, the same began in windows live, then word etc...
recently, my athena has started to crash within an hour of a reset. Most of the time, if i start a program, just the bar at the top will load and nothing else, this is most serious in SMS/MMS. also, when this happens and i got to memory (the start menu and setting tab are still quick) it shows that i always have over 50 meg of ram left. Although, if this helps at all, the device runs slowest when turned on from sleep mode. Before i put the device in sleep mode, when i goto file explorer i can hear the microdrive fire up and this programme runs slow. after if has been in sleep for 20 mins or so, file explorer will never boot up properly and there is no noise from the microdrive.
I have tried hard rest, starts fast again, then slows to nothing after few days. I have tried various tweaks i have seen on here, such as disabling autooff and disabling the x-button programme. I have run spybot and antovirus software and nothing. Anyone got any ideas? thank you in advance

There are many many programs out there which hangs my devices and cause the behaviour you described. pocket hack master is one of them, which strangely works for others but not my device. Anothe is Touch Commander.
I usually uninstall the software once they cause freezes.
Try installing and testing your software one at a time to isolate it.
got a feeling it could be windows live. Unfortuantly, this is probably the programme i use the most. Is there any known issue with this?

yes my roms have the latest build(18533 even though theres newer builds not available to public or been ported yet to athena) and the aboslute latest live 33.600 which is still latest in the roms i have from latest devices like polaris and dual
1- Hello guys, I have an T-Mobile USA HD2. I love it but it freezes like crazy, 2-3 times a day if not more. I ran Task 29 to delete every possible trail of previous roms followed by a hard reset but nothing. It will still freeze.
2- I also have a lot of signal problems. Its constantly changing from 3G to Edge on the same location. I know that is not normal so I spoke to T-Mobile and they changed the SIM card but it will still change the signal back and forth. I re-flashed couple of radios but nothing, I only accomplished to drain more battery.
3- BSB Tweaks is an awesome app but there are issues with the Rotation Option. If I enable Rotation to the "Start" -> "home screen" the photo album and music will be affected because the already come with landscape support. I tried to disable the landscape support for these using a registry editor but did not find a way.
Is there any solutions for these problems? Any help will be very much appreciated, not only from be but as well from others with the same or similar problems. Thanks in advance to all of you.
Note: I noticed the recently released TMUSA HD2s come with a yellow reset button. I bought my back on March when they sold out Nation wide with in the firs 4 hours and it comes with a RED reset button. This might explain a lot. If you know something please share. Thanks!
I would like to know if there is help for freezing issue.
I also did Task 29, flashed few different radios, few different roms incoluding stock, and it still happens. If my phone freezes I have to try for 20 minutes to restart it, as it hangs everywhere starting with bootloader, to manila.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
I had a similar issue as well and it turned out to be a cab file I had installed that was not compatible for my ROM. I had to go through and isolate which cab it was by using the date it was added and when I noticed the issues.
When your phones freeze....does it do it radomly or while trying to access or carry out anything specific. Your problem could be caused by any number of reasons but giving as much detail regarding your problem keeps you from getting so frustrated trying all sorts of fixes. Out of curiosity what ROM's are you both currently running?
I am currently using Elegancia ROM from August 23. Before I was using Energy ROM. I tried newest, stock Rom for T-Mobile HD2 but it didn't solve the issue.
I tried reinstalling HSPL, but it didn't help either.
The problem started after I put Ubuntu 0.2 on my sd card. I was playing with it for a little and it suddenly rebooted my HD2. I though, OK, no big deal, it's just in infant stage.
So I booted Windows again (energy rom with 2.12 radio) but it hanged while Sense was loading. I wasn't able to get it back to life after few reboots so I did a hard reset (vol up/down power on) It worked fine.
My problem mostly happens when I run android and when it reboots for some reason I can't get back to windows. It hangs, sometimes it hangs on bootloader before it even shows me radio and data version!! sometimes it goes past bootloader and hangs right after sense launches, and sometimes it is perfectly fine.
It also seems that when I just use WinMo it is fine, I can power down, and soft reset without major issues. But after running android I get that issues, especially when Android crushes.
I am thinking that android may be corrupting some WinMo files, but how is that possible? Android doesn't have access to NAND so technically it shouldn't prevent WinMo from booting on bootloader level.
Please let me know if you need me to explain more.
Thanks for your help

PS. I don't have any custom cabs installed at this point. I have super fresh and clean installation of elegancia rom
Yeah...Android may be the culprit. I have shyed away from trying it because I have talked to quite a few people (not on XDA) that have tried it on the HD2 and they have the same issues. The Android OS really makes the HD2 unstable. I personally am going to hold off on the Android bandwagon until a little more time passes, after all WinMo works just fine for me. Try just running on WinMo and see what happens. Based on what you have said, it runs fine as long as you are not using Android
yeah, it's is good idea to stay away for some time. But Android development needs testers. If no one is willing to test than there will be no improvement.
What I can't understand is that even after I do hard reset I still get freezes.

Yeah I agree with you on Android development needing testers. I do rely on my phone a lot for work purposes and I can't always afford to have the phone freezing up constantly.
Are you hard re-setting with the Android OS still installed?
Technically it is still installed but it is only present on the SD Card, and not anywhere else so it shouldn't matter. Next time I get freeze I will try to remove SD Card before hard resetting.
I tried booting few times with SD Card taken out, but it didn't help.

I have the same issue...i'm using energy rom and i noticed that lately its freezing like hell...at least twice a day...!! NRGZ already notice the freezing issue and is trying to solve it...but it still crashes. I'm constantly changing the rom as he updates...and right now i'm running the August 25.
Sometimes it crashes while being turned off...and i need to take the battery off to restart.
I had the same issue, all i did loaded a diff rom and formatted my sim card problem solved
I did format my SD Card many times. Did not help. I used recommended FAT32.
Yesterday my phone froze when I was trying to add program shortcut to Sense... silly.
I rebooted phone, it booted fine, but hang as soon as I went to check my TXT messages. Rebooted again and it is working fine until now.
I currently have Elegancia ROM with 2.12.50 radio, have not been using android for couple of days, but it is still there on my SD Card.
It is getting a bit frustrating. I wonder what else I can try to make it stop freezing.
KML
My phone rebooted again yesterday.
I couldn't boot to windows for the next 20 minutes... I tried about 10 times before it worked. 2 or 3 times it booted windows and froze as soon as I clicked on one of sense tabs.
I haven't played with Android for past week and the freezing problem is still an issue. I even removed andorid form my SD Card.
When all this happened I was just using skyfire to browse internet.
I am hopeless at this point. I have no idea what else I could try to make it stop rebooting and freeezing.
Any ideas?? I would greatly appreciate any help.
PS. I recently found a thread about a tool that searches for corrupt files on Android devices after clean flash, is there something similar available for WinMo?
Here is the thread I am talking about:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/fixflash-rom-flash-verify-and-repair-tool/
screen doesn't respond to touch
I just started having this issue today. I have used darkstones most recent build from the 18th. it has worked perfectly till today. I use energy roms. i just installed a older rom today still have the same problem. this problem appears weither in droid or winmo. All the hard keys still function and the phone can receive calls. Thanks for any help you may be to lend.
my phone just froze again.
All I did was take it out of my pocket and unlock screen, and there it is: FREEZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Funny thing is that Android doesn't freeze for me... it crashes sometimes, but never freezes. It is only WinMo that freezes on me or doesn't boot. Android always boots.
I really wish the NAND was accessible so I could flash Android to NAND and forget about WinMo

you, me and 17,000+ HD2 owners are all wishing for that exact thing
Your issue with the freezing/rebooting is stumping me too. You've flashed different ROM's, including stock, done hard resets, checked the battery pins, reformatted the SD card and even tried running the phone without the SD card inserted...do I have all that right? The fact that it doesn't show the symptoms when running Android just makes it that much more mysterious. I'd say it all points to a hardware issue, but if it doesn't act that way when you're in Android, that (probably) shoots that theory out of the water. But, at the same time, running task 29 and reflashing different ROM's should also have eliminated any possible software-based causes, so....
the only thing that comes to my mind is micro SIM card. I did an upgrade on my ATT account to get iPhone (traded for HD2) and those fu...ers at ATT wouldn't let me keep my regular sized SIM card. I had to use my old SIM card and cut it's inside to place micro sim in it. I used a regular sied SIM to hold micro SIM in place.
I don't think however that this is a problem because I believe my phone froze few times before I did that SIM card swap besides, I have no issues with phone calls or reception both in Android or WinMo.
I am clueless at this point.
I just got another Android version and will try it to see how it works. If I have any problems I will try using my wive's SIM card to see if it helps with freezing and WinMo booting.
KML
EDIT: ANDROID just rebooted itself. 2 minutes after clean installation. geee, I am leaning towards Hardware being the issue.
What I did is:
1. open browser
2. go to google
3. search for speedtest
4. open speedtest.net
and Android rebooted itself and now my phone can't go past Tmobile bootloader logo (pink square with 'stick together' letters)
I will put different SIM inside now and try everything again

Good call, that's about the only other thing to try. However....have you tried running WM with sense disabled, to see if it still has the freezing/rebooting issues? That might at least narrow the problem down to something sense-related (which is easily the most common cause of any software-related issue on this phone)

I have NOT tried that but I will. The problem is that I often can't get past bootloader logo...
I modified my post above so please read it (I mentioned Android crashing)
thanks for all your suggestions
I just tried different SIM card. Phone booted fine to WinMo, and froze as soon as I clicked on Messaging tab in sense.
I will try to disable Sense for now.
I disabled Sense, rebooted WinMo launched Android repeated operation of trying to get to speedtest. Site launched, but phone rebooted after a while.
I am getting to conclusion that some software including flash causes my phone to reboot and then I can't get it to boot again..
Right now my phone is stuck again on bootloader. I already tried rebooting twice.
What I noticed is that every time my phone freezes it gets a little warmer in the lower left corner

You have to search for network twice. It will fail first time .. it will also complain 2nd time with "No network found" error but you'll see the network status icon on the notification bar.
you may have ongoing problems with this until 3.0 kernel is out
I have issues with every build and sometimes takes numerous tries and sometimes doesn't work. This is well documented in thread--

Install the latest ROM (p3) from this thread, it solved the mobile network issue. Auto connects on reboot. I'm enjoying it
I tried a couple of the ICS roms (they are pretty much identical) but did find many features lacking, app support and hardware support are the biggest issues so far. The 3.0 Kernel will fix a lot of those when drivers have support. I tried the supposed fixed version but my phone network wouldn't connect at all even trying automatic selection. Then again I wasn't exactly impressed with ICS either mostly the UI changes that just don't seem to fit in with phones. ICS looks like a bad port of a tablet OS and I guess that's what it is.

I had all kinds of issues with the p3 build (miniskirt). Overall slow performance, market and gtalk missing, people app not logging in, stuck notifications, broken a2sd etc.
I am sticking with p2 for awhile.
I keep getting a prompt requesting a reboot because the sim card was added. If I press the back key, it just works anyway.

@shahrier: guess the miniskirt version doesn't include gtalk, market etc. Also I was not using miniskirt versions (was on custom blackrose since quite some weeks).
Anyway, let's hope for a p4 or p5 build with working camera
Well, rapmv78 has already given us N1 geeks the perfect New Years gift. ICS on the NexusOne is now effectively feature complete with proof-of-concept camera. As of now, running the p4 build with the camera hack (in TexasIce's thread). Yes, lots of crashes and freezes but its a small price to pay to live on the bleeding edge!
Mobile network autoconnect works, but I'm experiencing soft-reboots periodically, and then a prompt to reboot due to SIM reinsertion or something, which I can surprisingly ignore by hitting the back button. This could be because I didn't wipe my data partition while upgrading from p3. Or the camera hack.
Anyone else experience this? Possible solutions?
EDIT: Fix for mobile network on p2 (atleast for 5.08.004 radio) - While selecting network, hit 'Select Automatically'. It will show an error prompt. Do not touch anything. Within ten seconds, your network should connect automatically. Hit the back button and start making calls and sending texts!
The full p3 (as well as p4) build is much better it seems like compared to miniskirt version. So yeah go with one of those builds if you want auto network connectivity. Oh and camera kind of works now with the work that rampv78 did. Follow these steps to get camera working on p3/p4 build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20897640&postcount=1074
Also, if u haven't been following, there are some solutions to try for soft reboot problems - disable lock screen, move dalvik to internal, remove ext partition). Strangely one solution works for one person.
Looks like moving dalvik to internal, fixed the reboot issues for me (no reboot since 10 hours)
But I have recently picked up a replacement phone for my aging MyTouch. It's still a good piece of hardware and instead of selling it..I want to re-purpose it into a media player/car computer.
While it's easy enough to just not have a SIM card installed and will due this if there are no other options. The problem is you get that annoying 'no SIM installed' icon at the top. As well as all the functions that where used to make this a phone. It'd be nice if they where just *Poof* gone! So the question really is, does anyone know of a ROM that does this? Preferably ICS.
I know this is an odd question. I'm also open to other ideas.
Just put it in airplane mode, that should do. You can still use wifi
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA
Hmm, I tried it before and noted that both my Wifi and Bluetooth had turned off. So I tried turning them back on after I put it into airplane mode and they both worked. It's a temp fix but thanks none the less.
Dont just open the Rom and take out phone.apk, you'll force close loop.

Downloaded and will be flashing this real soon. Thanks for the info. I'll let you all know how it goes.
Well flashed the zip to my phone. It didn't brick it. About all I really noticed is that it essentially put it into a permanent airplane mode. While it deleted the apps for making phone calls it had no effect on the parts of the ROM that render such things. For instance I still have shortcuts for making calls, the indication of 'no service' is still present, etc. This makes for a great stop gap, but to truly achieve what I'm looking for will require a completely revamped ROM.
Hi All
I saw that someone else had a similar problem, but did not get any definite answer - So Im asking too.
In the last few days I started playing with installing Android on my HD2.
(European HD2 with latest Official WM6.5 ROM).
My problem is as follows:
I boot to Android system (clscad then haret),
Android boots,
everything seems to work ok for the first few seconds.
After these few seconds, the sound stops working.
I tried several NativeSD and SD android versions.
All showed the same behavior.
If I boot to Android again, I get these few seconds of sound again.
Did anyone had this problem and knows how to resolve it ?
Many Thanks in advance.

Ah, clrcad and haret, so much memories.
I'm not giving you a definite answer, I'm just guessing. clrcad is what makes the phone have sound, try a different file (from a different source). I remember the very old versions of sd android have flawless sound, you might want to dig them up and try using their clrcad. Also, try turning on airplane mode on windows mobile before booting into android, see what happens.

I tried your advice, sadly, it did not help.
Some more investigating revealed the following:
If before doing anything used the Volume up-down buttons, and as long as I had the volume slider on screen,
the device was audiable, and played the volume tone up and down.
The moment I let it disappear - I lost the audio completely.
If I did anything else I only had the first tap sound, and then silence.
So I think that only a single app can take over the sound device, and even that - only once.
Again - anyone have any idea how to resolve this ?
So - some findings -
Since pretty much everybody says it works perfectly for them,
I tried playing with this a little (I believe 3 hours is a little).
I tried isolating the cause for this phenomenon.
Tried removing/installing apps (on the WM),
Tried hard reset, and eventually I found that when I turn screen tap sound on in WM
(Setting->Menu->All Settings->Sound and Notifications->Check all check-boxes)
Android audio is stopped after a few moments/after the first Android App, accessed the sound device and closed it.
I would be thankful if someone can verify this finding.
(Set his/her device to sound screen taps sound,
Reboot the device with Screen Taps On,
run Android, and see if/when sound is lost)
If this is verified, perhaps some one who develops Android ROMs for HD2 could investigate.
(I like my screen tap sounds in WM,
It would sadden me to lose them)
