Using file explorer (or similar app), find the application and do Edit, Copy. Then, go to \windows\start menu\programs\ and do Edit, Paste as Shortcut. (You may want to rename it as it will say "shortcut to" at the beginning.)
Then, you can add it as a quicklink.
Basically, anything that's in that folder (or sub-folder, I believe) can be added as a quicklink, and that description above allows you to create a shortcut to any file (whether an app, document, image etc.) on your device.
Hope this helps

Apologies if this has been answered before, I've searched but can't find anything.
I want to know how to create (or add) program icons into the programs folder. I have some applications that I've installed and they have not created their own program icon so I want to be able to add a shortcut / link or whatever you want to call it into the programs folder. I'm sure this is a basic feature but I just can't find it.
So has no-one managed to do this or are you just ignoring someone who is starting out?
you have to copy and paste as a shortcut in /windows/start menu/programs

Thank you !
Greetings
1- Can I put a link to the Windows' program folder (the one that appears near the end of the "Start" menu) in the Manila's program tab??
2- Additionally, can I put a link to a folder (e.g. Games) from the Windows program's folder in the Manila's program tab?
Thanks in advance.
I would LOVE to know if this could be done. Fingers crossed.
You can. I have even put files there (Manila program tab)
The thing you have to do is create a shortcut of your desired objecti (prog, folder, tab) and put the shortcut to windows/start Menu/programs folder. I created an extra "Shortcuts" folder there to not mess up the look of PROGRAMS item in start menu.
The point is you can add any shortcut to tf3d progs tab as long as it is situated in the start menu folder

It seems that by clicking the newly created shortcut, it launches the explorer progam to show what is within the folder
Not very sexy, any chance that it stays in manilla to display the folder content?

not working for me either... i did exactly what you said.. i used the built-in Explorer to create the "programs" shortcut .. but whenever i click on the button mapped to that shortcut, i get the message "The file 'Programs' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componenets is messing...etc"
BTW, when i click on the newly created shortcut from the Explorer winodw, it opens the program folder in Explorer window too. What i need is to open the program folder in the same way it is opened when clicking "Start -> Programs"
Any ideas??
That's the same error message I got too.
Any help from anyone? I would like to know too cause mine is opening up the explorer too!
Bump. Hope this thread is not forgotten
Is it possible to make a shortcut to the Games Folder (or any other folder) as a Quick Launch button on the today screen? I have several games and it would take up too many Quick Launch slots so just using one slot to the Games folder would be great.
/Tubgirl
You'll have to create the shortcut yourself using the file explorer (copy and 'paste shortcut'). Once you have the shortcut placed in the /Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder you should be able to add it to the home screen.
In case you didn't know the Games folder itself is located in /Windows/Start Menu/Programs
Thank you profahmad. I'm new to Windows Mobile so I'm still learning.
I tried your tip and now I could add the Games folder to the quick links. Unfortunately I thought it would open upp the Games folder like it looks in the Start menu. Instead Resco Eplorer opened the folder. Well well... no biggie.
Interestingly enough when I tried the same thing with another folder called "Shoutcast" on my storage card (contains pls-files to Internet Radio channels) I could add the folder to the Quicklink but I couldn't open it.
Anyway... thanks for the help
I don't think it's possible to force the Start menu itself to open a particular folder directly. You'll have to stick with the default file-explorer you have associated with the folders, in your case that would be the Resco Explorer.

That's strange, did you create a shotcut and paste it into /Windows/Programs? I just tested it with a folder on my storage card and it works perfectly. You may have copied and pasted (and not pasted a shortcut) by accident. Try it again.

Aah you're right, Start Menu can't be forced so that's the best we can do at the moment.
I have just installed tomtom 7 and the program has not created in program icon so if i want to launch it i need to go into my sd card and click on the icon in there,, is there a way i can copy and paste the icon into where the program icons show up ?? if i can how can i do it and also find the folder ?
If you use File Explorer and long click on the .exe file on your storage card you should be able to select copy. Then go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs (if you want to add it to a particular subfolder you can do that) and paste the link as a Shortcut (to do this scroll to the bottom of the folder, long click and from the popup select Paste as Shortcut). That way the icon will be available in your Start Menu.
thank you worked a treat..
Solution found, thread closed
I installed a program in the storage card, but nowhere I can find the program icon. So everytime I have to open file explorer to run the exe file. How to make a quick link so it can be shown in the quick link tabs? When I tried to add, it's not listed in the programs to choose.
Also, when I install games, the shortcuts either be under start UI or under start\games. I want to move the games shortcuts in start to start/games, how can I do it?
Thanks.
Just copy the .exe (using explorer) and paste a shortcut to Windows/Start Menu/Programs for your apps or Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games for your games.
