Nandroid Backup for Hero - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hi All,
I am from South Africa and I have an HTC Hero running on the Vodacom network. Last night I rooted my phone, and now I would like to do a Nandroid Backup. One of the things I am seeing on most posts, is the recovery.img. What does this do? Does this update the ROM? Sorry I am a newbie to android!
Thanks
Remeez

You seem to have recovery image flashed which is multi functional. Can I refer you to a thread by Amon_RA ,who is an author of the thread as well as recovery image. It is in hero,G2 dev forum.

Unroot for warranty

Something went wrong with my Magic and the touch screen is totally screwed up and can't register any touch at all. I rooted my phone and guess i need to unroot it so anyone know how i can do that ?
using a htc magic 32a from singapore
restoring your first backup should unroot.as long as you did one before root
unfortunately i thrashed the original back up so i need another
MOD EDIT
Move to general discussion forum as not related to rom development
Yea same thing here im on voda 32B and cant find an original backup!seems no1 has as its been asked for many times and i havent seen one.If someone had theyre first backup they could be nice by restoring it then deleting /wiping everything and doing another backup (Hint hint)

Restoring Mobile to original state

Hi folks, just a quick question:
when I flash the HTC Tattoo ROM from htcpedia, does it restore EVERYTHING (recovery, boot) or do I have to do something after flashing stock?
Would be very pleased if anyone could answer this
Greets
Yes it will. No need to do anything else.
This is, if the htcpedia ROM you're talking about, is the HTC one.
Cheers

you should read two stickies in this forum.

it might take an hour for you to read up on the wikki and play around, go into fastboot and finding out your version number etc. from there you can then download and install adb and fastboot, flashing a new recovery rom, flash radio if needed etc.
again all the info is in the two links above
plz move to general as not dev related

[Q] flummoxed

i have a san francisco 2 from orange. i used a method to root, unlock, debrand which basically left me with a phone which was unbranded and a new rom installed but unfortunetly unrooted and unlocked.
I need to get back to stock rom to start over, because it is unrooted CWM doesnt work, so i need an image which can be flashed from the sd card. I cant see any thread here for a stock rom image. If someone has one could you link me please.
cheers
