Anyone ever have this problem, where the music player will stop or skip after you close the screen. It only happens when i put it my sweater pocket on both right and left sides. It had just started doing it and never did it like this before. I even tried restarting the phone to no avail.
Its the 'feature' of using the accelerometer to skip and rewind a track. Terrible feature in my opinion since I have yet to figure out how to disable it. Put it in your car, hit some bumpy road and have it flat on your seat and it will drive you nuts with skips, rewinds, and at times utter silence as it jumps from track to track.
If anyone knows how to turn off the feature on the music player, I'd be grateful.
Hmmm, thats what i thought was going on. However it never happened before that I can recall, I feel like i did "something" to enable it because i use advanced task manager to disable programs that i dont use, and i think i remember it hapening after a disable session.

If, like me, you have problems while using your HD2 like a music player... Here is the solution: don't stop the phone...
What I'm telling here is simple: It seems that, when using the poweroff/sleep/red button, the phone goes into sleep a little to deeply to be able to play music. You'll have music break or just stopping at the end of the track.
My solution is to "just" lock the phone (Start => Lock) and then, in the pocket... It will sleep by it-self soon.
Another key feature I was unable to use if I "force sleep" my phone is to change the playing volume... Try by your self and tell me if it helps you too
no problem here playing music after pressing the red button to send to phone to sleep. music plays fine for hours.

same here
Mine works also fine
Sorry for the bump but im having a different issue with the music tab, some1 might know a solution and i didnt feel like adding a new thread for something this 'small'
Well, i just today got my phone, and ive (obviouslly) been playing with it a bit, but something akward has happend, at first, when in the music tab, the side button controled the volume of the music, but now (hell idk what i did) it suddenlly changes the tracks when i press volume up/down.
(btw, did you guys get manuals? i just got a quick start wich doesnt cover half the tabs, including music tab)
I must have pushed something somewhere, but im clueless, anyone know what it could be?
I've never normally noticed any problems playing music with the phone on or in stand-by. Although when its plugged in and charging, FM radio does tend to freeze a few miliseconds every 30 seconds. But on battery power everything is just fine
don't have this problem :S
Actually, about my issue, i solved it, in a way you could say its a audio-plug-bug (like seen before in htc devices) i plugged in the headset and now its volume again, ive tried some stuff like unplugging while playing, on music or other tab, but wasnt able to reproduce yet, strange.

I've got no problems playing music and locking device. However, I have the volume key issue and the only thing that fixes it is a soft reset. I haven't been able to work out why it starts changing tracks instead of volume to start with. Anyone got any suggestions?

I had this issue just today, on top of the numerous other issues ive had. I did a soft reset and the volume buttons started behaving again.
However i noticed a different bug with the headphones. When i was listening to music on them and the phone locked, when i tried to unlock it by sliding the lock slider, i found the screen completely unresponsive. Unplug the phones and the screen responded. plug them back in, unresponsive. Maybe unplugging the phones would have solved the volume keys misbehaving as well, as it did for you. i dont think i tried that at the time.
This unit is so full of bugs, i have resigned myself to returning it overseas. A total pain at Xmas.
Man this is getting frustrating! My music player won't play any music from my microSDHC card now. It finds all of my songs, but I can only listen to about 10seconds before it locks up. I see the little circle-thingie in the left corner spinning and as soon as it stops the music player crashes.
same as above
I have the exact same problem as Toss3 above, couldn't describe it better.
It was working fine though, until i added some new folders. It always happens quite early in the song, so i tend to think that it's scanning the library in the background (the circle 'busy' animation) and it's encountering a corrupt file and is crashing (or at least a file the player considers as corrupt, because all those files work fine on my computer or iPod Classic).
So i'm really bothered, any help from you Toss3, if you find the solution, or from anybody else would be very appreciated.
I have updated my ROM to IJ9 but the ****ing annoying bug still remain.
When I'm listening to music with wired headset, if the screen is off, music STOPS with no reason. This happens always, but with random times. Sometimes, minutes after screen goes off, sometimes one hour after.
It happens like the same with both TouchPlayer and WMP. But TouchPlayer have hiccups when the screen is off.
Closing and reopening the player, and replugging the wired headset seems to solve, BUT i don't want to do it everytime.
Anyone facing this bug?
..sadly, it can only be solved by turning off the motion etiquette...
I'm trying it disabled this week.
Some Samsung implementations are a real shame.
My life is now better with etiquette off. Maybe i will implement it by myself.
Jun... if you implement a better etiquette plz let us know

I think you're talking about the exact thing that's been really getting on my nerves too: music just stops for no reason but restarts when you press the on buttn, or music skips and jumps like a gramophone record! There is a huge post about this on the HTC forum, and even a little patch (sorry for not having a link for you.) But anyway, I tried the ptch on my B7610 and it didn't work. I see it says here to disable the motion protocol - how do you do that? I presume that's something to do with G-sensor. I'm surprised so few people have mentioned this problem, but it does seem to be a Win Mobile thing rather than a Samsung or HTC thing.
So I am a heavy user of Last.FM but I have noticed that whenever I am listening to Last.FM and hit the power button to wake it up, the song will skip to the next one. No idea what causes this, I wonder if it could be the ROMs memory management or something. I have added it to the ignore list in Advanced Task Killer but it doesn't help. Any ideas or people experiencing the same thing?
I was having a weird issue with Slacker where it would just randomly starting skiping ahead tracks. The issue went away though.
It seemed to be possibly related to having speakers plugged into the headphone jack.
Weird thing was it would skip ahead even when Slacker was in the background.
I have no idea what could be causing it. I am going to watch logcat tomorrow, doubt it will show anything but its worth a try.
When I'm playing music, other music will suddenly cut in. I thought the problem was WinAmp, so I uninstalled / changed players, but the problem persists (now using UberMusic) .... any ideas???
I've checked currently running tasks and couldn't spot any suspects....
Vibrant KA6
thanks in advance.
Its probably your headphones. If there is a short in the wire your phone thinks you hit play/pause, and your samsung music player starts up. That's my guess.

thanks, but no; happens regardless of cord. I regularly use three seperate ones (connecting car, stereo and headphones). Just to be clear - one song is playing, then half way through another song cuts in and plays over the top - no pause at all.
I had a similar issue, but my music would just start randomly playing at any time. Sometimes just randomly, while locked and in my pocket, and it happened a few times for some reason when I opened up facebook. It's always one of the mp3's I have saved on my phone, and always the first in the playlist, like it was actually selected. I also couldnt get it to stop. It would either randomly stop on it's own or I'd have to turn the phone off. Opening up the media player didnt do anything at all. Hasn't happened in a couple months and I didn't do anything to fix it. Hope someone has an answer.
I get the same issue with mine. For me it happens most of the time with Google Music. If I press the play button from the lock screen, sometimes just clicking next on the music controls in the notification tray, and sometimes just randomly.
When I pull up Google Music, it will usually have whatever song is playing, but it will be shown as not playing. Sometimes pressing play, then pause will stop it. Other times, the only way to stop it is to let it play the song through or reboot my phone. Even ending the Google Music app from the Task Manager doesn't stop it.
Hopefully someone knows some more information on a fix for this.
P.S. This happens despite what headphones/cord I plug into the phone.
Try Headset Blocker in the app market...it's free and solved the problem for me...there are a few others but I don't remember the names

Now that I think about it, you're absolutely correct - this only happens with mp3's that I've downloaded and are stored on the phone mem ... perhaps it's one of the download programs. I often use GTunes, which has an inbuilt player ... I reckon it's possible that it's stuffing me around.
@chronos7 nothing to do with headset controls... as mentioned, happens even with a cord going straight into an amplifier.
just updated to the new version of gtunes, called gpod. Will report back after some listening
I had that problem with either WinAmp or DoubleTwist. Both are uninstalled now and I haven't seen the problem in a while.
It was quite annoying.. whenever I would disconnect the car bluetooth it would start playing.

didn't help ... sigh.
Extra info: it switches back to the original song sometimes. So, playing song a, song b cuts in for about 20 seconds, then switches back to song a. No pauses.
Try the headset blocker and see if that fixes the problem...I had the exact same issues and this solved the problem about 6 months ago and I haven't had the problem since...just try it and if it doesn't work then it's was free anyway but trust me it will work...
thanks Chronos, tried it, but no, didn't help.
Here's the fu**ing weird thing: i just copied all my music from my sd card to my pc. I then played some music with windows media player......... THE SAME THING HAPPENED! In the middle of a song another song jumped in for 15 seconds and then buggered off. Note that WMP never acknowledged any change, i.e. kept showing song a even when song b had cut in.
WTF? Corrupted files??
If it does the same thing on your PC it's not the phone, it's the MP3 file. Download from a different source. Some people still have trouble ripping/converting music so you get garbage/incomplete MP3 files sometimes.

I agree after some experimentation, but the problem originated on the phone itself. I can see this is the case because song a is polluted with song b and c, where both b and c are present on my phone and are completely unrelated to song a. I just encountered a Joy Division song with chunks of Prince and something else completely alien, but still all are my songs, not just ones that would have been inserted during the encoding process .... I wonder what program did this. I still think gtunes is a candidate, but have no evidence at all, except that in the aforementioned case all three songs were downloaded via gtunes.
Anyone else getting repeated - and VERY frustrating - audio dropout? For me, it's happening incessantly with PocketCasts and Audible, but it would probably apply to other apps if I used them (I'm kind of a words-not-tunes guy!). There's a tiny little pop then the sound just stops. To get it back you have to pause and resume. Sometimes it takes a few attempts to get it going again. Sometimes, it requires a hard reboot of the phone altogether.
The WEIRD thing is that this isn't an audio focus issue. These apps continue to "play" all the while when they go silent. They don't pause. When they resume, I've missed stuff and have to rewind (more frustration!). Which makes me think it's to do with the overall audio system, rather than another app interfering with whatever I'm listening to.
So, this can happen anytime. But it does tend to happen more when I pocket my 6P. I thought maybe it's a proximity sensor thing, maybe the TGSP I'm using. But calls are fine, so I don't think it's that. Maybe it's an accelerometer thing? Maybe Fit is interfering? Who knows... ?
Anyone else experienced this, or got any solutions?

Are you using a Bluetooth headset or have it connected to a Bluetooth device when this happens?

No. No Bluetooth whatsoever, which is a bit alarming. And its not Fit because I uninstalled that - I already know I'm in perfect physical form - don't need my phone to tell me that Really can't figure it out and its becoming a bit RMA-y
