You can try a keyboard mapper to map keys to backlight but not sure if you can.

Before on my HTC P4350 I used the Double Launcher 2.1, but this does not work in Topaz. Is there anything similar?

Yes it is something like this, but this "TopazKbdControl_GSM.CAB" does not work for the light to increase and decrease

Help
Good afternoon.
After much searching, I could not find solution.
I tried the "TopazKbdControl_GSM.CAB" but not have the option to put the function to increase and decrease the light in volume buttons.
I tried the "SPB Pocket Plus" does not work, they have the option but you can not join, the volume buttons.
Someone can help me

Annoying size of X button

My X (close) button must be sized wrong. When I try to click a button that is just below the X (for example the green arrow refresh button in PIE) the X button activates...arrgh
I am definitely CLICKING well below the X button.
I am trying to find a Registry Entry or something to make that X button's activation size smaller.
Please help!!!
It seems to me that your touch screen is miscalibrated. Try recalibrate it.

Thanks, but I have recalibrated a hundred times.
And to clarify, it is only the X button that gives me a problem - all other buttons activate correctly.
There has to be a way to "size" the button's activation area.
Please help!!

Seeing you have an HTC Touch, I'm guessing it's got something to do with the biotouch feature that makes the X easier to press.
Using a registry editor, try HKLM/Software/OEM/TFLOSettings/FingerPressure.
The lower the value, the harder you have to press. Maybe this will help. Use at your own risk.

thanks but I changed that also without success... again, i dont believe that is the problem because it would be causing this same issue with other buttons. The X is only one that gives me a problem. I literally can be tapping well below it and it still recognizes the click - this is very frustrating when i type in a web address and try to click the green arrow to "enter"...
also, it is not a problem on my wife's touch, which is set up exaclt like mine
sigh

cool proggie, but does not help.
does anyone know how to resize the X button?
I've used X-Button on several devices and none have had that problem and have only activated on the icon itself. Never off of the icon.
Have you tried removing any screen protector and cleaning around the edge of the screen in that area. I've seen protectors/dust/lint etc caught in the edge that messes up the alignment just in that area.
If you want to verify if its the screen or the progam then you could disable the X-Button in its settings and then install another Task Manager program like iLauncher .. Does the other program exhibit the same flaw or does it work correctly. If it works fine then X-Button was actually causing a problem. If your still having the same problem then its most likely something causing a problem with the screen.
I would like to make my X button bigger if possible, so going back to the original poster, is ther any way to do it.

Can the HTC Touch HD rotate screen in landscape mode?

Hi!
I just got the HTC Touch HD a couple of days ago.
Just wondering how to make the screen rotate on the HTC Touch HD in landscape mode.
Can anyone guide me on how to get the screen to rotate please?
download gyrator 2
also, use the search
Get a registry editor, then: HKLM - System - GDI - Rotation - HideOrientationUI (change from 1 to 0)
And yes.....you the search function.....it´s all been discussed before.......like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448142
Hi,
Great information, thank you very much ! I have successfully 'activated' this extra option with the use of Total Commander's built-in Registry Editor (another excellent find on this site ).
It is a great way to get a feel for what programms look like in Landscape Mode, since I haven't (yet) installed any Auto-Rotate programms.
Now I'd like to find a way to make accessing this Setting easier/faster because everytime you go back to a TouchFlo 3D screen the Device changes back to Portrait-mode. Back to browsing the forum; am getting my HD set-up the way I like it...one step at a time...

Rolf (SmartPhone-newbie from The Netherlands)

I understand popular alternatives are Gyrator 2 or Mobile Magic
I myself would like to be able to rotate the screen manually only. After editing the Registry as per the above description this is now possible on my Touch HD.
This however takes a lot of clicks so I hope to find a way to assign this option to either a Start Menu Shortcut or a long-press Hotkey. I think I stumbled across a post regarding this issue in one of my many hours reading through this forum and its Wiki. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time so I'll have to try and find that information again...

So why don´t you do just that? Assign the rotation to the long-press-answer-key. That´s what I´ve done from day one....

I found this little utility, it opens a pop-up window that rotates the screen and gives you the option of which position you want. I have used AEPlus button mapper to assign it to the "volume up" button. It works great, but the only thing is....don't try to rotate the TouchFlo3d windows, it doesn't like that at all. I think that is why the HD doesn't auto-rotate yet, TF3d can't take it. Start the app that you want to use, then activate the "Screen Rotate" utility.

Because I didn't know one COULD do that Hahaha... Thanks so much for pointing this out to me I did it right away and it works great...even with TouchFlo !
Was this option available in Key Assigment right away or only after the registry was altered as described above

yeah, thanks, that's where I got it from in the end, but it took until th 9th google search result to find that website and thus a working download location! That's rediculous for a freeware application!
Amusing thing is, I went to assign this to a button using AE Button Plus, and it turns out there's already an option in that program to assign buttons to "rotate screen" and "rotate screen clockwize" (american-sic) missed it before due to not looking for it specifically at the time!
Which screens are TF3d?
Is that the home screen (when tf3d is enabled)?
The screen doesnt remain in landscape mode.
After accessing the call menu it goes back to portrait mode.

I can get the phone screen to go landscape with the rotate app in AEBplus, but if I'm in landscape in another app and switch to the phone app, it goes back to portrait. Maybe the problem is the HTC phone screen, the generic WM probably works ok.
Matterhorn,
Actually I turned off TF3D from the Home menu in settings.
It still resets to portrait after accessing phone menu.

hard button backlight tweak

Hi guys
Has anyone found a way to adjust the hard button lighting to make it stay on longer? I have searched around and come up blank. This would make the phone a lot easier to use in the dark!

I think this is what you want: KeypadLecControl.
It keeps the light of the hardware keys on when the screen is not in standby.

Done and done.

I use this but it is not ideal as sometimes i dont want the backlight on the buttons (e.g using SatNav at night). Is there a mod that turns the button backlight off as normal but turns them back on again if the screen is used?

change Button LEDs

Hi there,
can anyone explain me how to get access to the control of the "Button LEDs"?
I know there must be a way because in Android those LEDs are glowing for example when you touch a button. At WM they only glow if you PRESS a button or touch the scroll wheel.
Thank you in advance
+1 here, that would be a nice option too
OK, what exactly do you all want? Buttons that light up on touch? is that all?
I'm brainstorming on ideas for my next version of X-Sense, so.... be creative!

That would be a first step. The default settings (light up all LEDs on button press or on scroll wheel touch) is just stupid.
The next step could be something like use the sensors on the buttons as extra buttons or use the LEDs as indicatiors for diffrent stuff. The scroll wheel for example seems to have 3 or more diffrent LEDs as Backlight. This could be used to indicate the battery status.

Customizable options for the so the lights can follow your touch when scrolling ?
Not practical but it would look good
But how could we interact with the sensors?
I dont think they land somewhere in the message queue of windows mobil. I think we have to rewrite the driver which is responsible for them. But maybe I'm wrong, because I don't have a lot of experience with the windows Mobil API. I prefer managed code like C#.
As far as I understand, the center of the dpad is the only part of the hardware that has the capability of sensing when you touch it. The only way you are gonna get the other buttons to respond is with a button press unless you modify the hardware.
try the latest version of xdandroid. if u thouch for example the back key, it glows.
so, no. every button has a sensor on it
Just so we're all on the same page, the entire area below the screen is a touchpad, it is sensitive to touch & motion - there is an app that implements this very nicely as both a touchpad and touch launcher/Task Mgr. My xsense app already interacts with button lights to show several events (i.e. stylus out, volume profiles).

OK Sorry! I have the cdma diamond on sprint so I didn't know the other versions(gsm) had touch sensative buttons! My d-pad is that way but the others are not. Forgive my ignorance.
Y'all should check this app out; I'm not in league with the developer, but I recognize his talent on this one. Its an amazing app that does all of the above and more - and there's a trial version:

Is anyone out their who can explain me how to catch the events of button-touch area?

Google for Koushik's sensors.dll library; it comes with sample apps etc...
in his libary is only a event for the rotation of the scroll wheel...
touch lock pro
As I know, app called "Touch lock pro" can do some settings with the ring LED's, so this can be the way

Volume steps are too large

Does anyone know how to change the increments that the volume changes by when using the volume buttons. They increase/decrease too much for me (increments too large). I know you can use the screen but when using the buttons you don't get this granularity/smaller step in volume

i moaned about this a while back, it's dumb, but no one seemed to agree
Use your finger ? lol
You can also change to the "sense music volume slider" (the green one with smaller steps) by reading a little here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616917
(it doesn't work in all applications though, but most!)
I have to agree, the steps are to large. I allways have to take my phone up and use the finger to adjust it to where i want it. I know ppl say "use ur finger etc" but since the buttons are there it should't be necessary to use ur finger.

exactly, i've used my finger to bring the volume up, why do i then have to use another finger to adjust it, its balls is what it is, balls lol
Folks, I looked at the posting that was provided and it offers another screen control for the volume. What I find strange is that with all the expertise on this forum all the great Roms, Cabs, and other ingenious registry tweaks etc nobody has found a way to modify the increments (which are obviously there) to be made available to the physical volume controls.
I suspect this is because it hasn't been investigated by many as it has not been seen as something in demand. However I would like to say that it is in demand and I'll give you my reason for its request. I have my device in the car in a phone holder and when driving I wear headphones (not HTC headphones). I often need a more granular ability to change the volume through the physical controls without looking at the screen so I can keep my eyes on the road.
I am sure there are many more instances such as this where people need this.
So if there is anyone out there that can help I am sure there would be many more people than on this thread that would give thanks once such a method is discovered.
hmmm...nobody any idea how to get the volume steps smaller?

Bump. +1
Just seen this. I often use the volume rocker when my phone is in my pocket, or when I cannot look at the screen. 1 bar increments please!
please.. we really need this..
