Is there really not an app for this? I've downloaded apps for my MyTouch to easily disable rotation, but they only disable landscape. I really wish I could find a way to disable portrait orientation.
bump at this. i've been wondering the same thing.
yea i like this too. only apps i ever auto rotate, maps, messaging (its a myTouch portrait is just stupid for messaging) , and browser.

Can homescreen autorotation only be done in a full custom rom?
Or would an upgrade (e.g. cyan's making bacon) be able to enable this function?
Cyanogens Makin' bacon doesn't support landscape right now. The only I see to enable it would be to download a homescreen replacement such as Home++ that's what I'm using right now and it works fine.
What happens to your icon/widget layout when you switch to landscape view?
Does Android 2.1 not support auto-rotate by default?
It supports auto-rotate for everything but the home screens, which kinda sucks cause when I get Handcent pop ups if I wanna use the landscape keyboard I have to go into the handcent app. Can only do portrait for pop up quick reply if it comes up while youre on home or lock screen.
I tried open home, it wouldn't let me put widgets on the screens so I got rid of it.
but to my question:
Does native landscape mode for the home screen require a COMPLETELY new rom?
Or just a addition to the stock?
i could have sworn that this phone auto rotates right? regardless if keyboard is out or not?
i know it may not be full rotate
is she supposed to rotate with the stock launcher? or does orientation only flip when keyboard is out?
SN: of course launcher pro works fine..... i just wanted to know if touchwiz launcher was supposed to work like that as well
In short, no.
TouchWiz only rotates if you slide out the keyboard.
okay so i am tripping. lol
thanks!!!
cuz i coulda swore i had it rotate the screen once but i guess im wrong.
thanks again!
go into settings display settings and check tap orientation to enable rotation orientation

Click to collapse

dah well
There has to be a way to force TouchWiz rotation. I have a vibrant, and now that the dock is out, there has to be something the dock does to force rotation on the touchwiz homescreen.
anyone have any ideas?
u be tripping
as long as we're asking questions, i could have sworn that you could re-order the touch wiz screens but i'm thinking it might have been because was on the epic experience rom.... was that a TW 3.0 feature?
Pinch zoom out to get to that feature.

[APP][WinMobile] Auto-Rotate Config
Can someone write the same program for android?
Don't understand why you would need this? pretty much all android apps that I use that a landscape view would "work" for already auto-rotate.
And aside from that, I don;t see how it would be possible as if the app doesn't have a landscape view, then this program would have to dynamically create the xml layouts for one, something that sounds pretty much impossible to do consistently right to me.
I know that Android apps can do it.
I need this app, because I want to choose only some apps to rotate automatically.
For example, when Iam in bed I want to disable rotation of the browser, but the rotation of the gallery must be enabled...

I'm looking for an app that will trick the orientation sensor into thinking the phone is in landscape mode. The only thing that kinda works is ADW launcher I can force the home screen and app drawer in landscape but thats it.
Does anyone have any advice? Devs would you make this app?
Thanks!

Don't know if it's what you're looking for , but if your phone is rooted, you can check out shake and rotate in. the market. It's free.
I tried a couple force rotation apps (Ultimate Rotation and Rotation Manager). When the home screens & lock screen rotate, neither of them do it right. The icons/ folder are placed off the screen. Anyone get something to work? I'd prefer to stay on Touchwiz, because I really like the calendar widget.
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum early.
