i have mine running at max all the time works great

i have mine at min -528 max -528 when the screen is on
when screen is off i got it at min - 128 max - 245
thing is i found that i can make the min even lower and the max up to 998
i wanna know the highest i can set it to so i can get full performance

im not too sure about that one but i would love to run mine at 998 lol

so overclocking works now that we have the kernal then ?? cuase it wouldnt work without the kernal before right ?

I would like to know how you did this as well

im not sure if im doin it correctly
but i was just goin through the settings on overclock widget and went to advanced settings and went to "click here to define" and it has all frequencies from 19200 - 998400 you just gotta check them in order to use them

Yeah, with our pre-source kernel, overclocking is not possibly because dynamic clocking is enabled in the kernel, so it automatically adjusts the clockrate.

So basically the Overclocking Widget is useless until we get a ROM with the new kernel source? Oh well, won't be long.

you have a larger copy of the attached pic? how long have you been running it and how stable has it been? which ROM are you running it on?

Kind of a pointless new thread. What is your score? Picture is too small.
I use the tester at 844mhz min and 844mhz max screen on and 245mhz screen off and get 11.592

did you change any of the other settings like he did? do ya have "set on boot" checked or unchecked? how stable is it? I can only be mildly adventurous due to my phone being the only way I can get online when I'm in my 18-wheeler
Some other forum members seem to have reboot and lockup issues with 844mhz but I don't. For a long trip I would keep it at 806mhz if you're unsure and it's untested. Not every phone is the same.
I use the Overclock Widget and set it to:
Auto Start on boot - No
Screen on Min, Max 844
Screen off Min, Max 245
Differ Freq Screen Off - Yes

Set CPU Settings

I was wondering what would be considered optimal settings for SetCpu. I amn running BaconBits and am not sure how I should do the settings.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.
i have mine set at:
Profile 1 : 806 MHz max, 245MHz min, On Demand, priority 50
Profile 2 : 245 MHz max , 245MHz min, On Demand, for when the screen is off, priority 50
if i change the MHz, i change it higher on profile 1 for whatever i need it for then i just scale it back down to 806 when i am done...
Mines pretty much the same as the one above save for max clock speed being 1500Mhz.

I have my scaling set ondemand, have setcpu set at boot, with 1497 max and 245 min, with profiles for various states of the phone.
My profiles:
Screen off: 245 max, 245 min - Priority=100
Battery temp >104: 806 max, 245 min - Priority=90
Battery <10: 245 max, 245 min - Priority=80
Battery <20: 368 max, 245 min - Priority=70
Battery <30: 768 max, 245 min - Priority=60
Charging/Full: 1497 max, 245 min - Priority=50
I get well over a day of use, even with moderate-heavy usage, even with my overclocking on Evil's Sense ROM.
If you search google for an "overclocking 101" thread you should find a rather large ongoing break down of setcpu and the most efficient way to use it. I believe its on one of the droid forums, awesome info.

By all means, have at it!
Main profile: 245 - 1017 on demand
Charging/Full: 1017 - 1017 performance 90 priority
Screen Off: 245 - 245 performance; mainly as this mode will bypass the need to poll/sample for CPU speeds, thus reduces some CPU load. 100 priority
Battery < 20%: 245 - 768 on demand 75 priority
i decided to put the SetCPU widget on my homescreen last night so i could see if the profiles were actually changing as my battery ran lower... and my phone got reaaaalllly sluggish to the point where i would have to wait a few seconds for it to flip back and forth between screens... i deleted the widget thinking that might have caused it, but it was still laggy... so i unclicked on the profiles for battery and got it back to 806MHz and it was fine again...
im guessing that it supposed to slow down the phone when the CPU drops below 806MHz but i didnt think it would be that bad... anyone else experiance this?

What are the profiles you are using? The ones you copied shouldn't have run into any conflicts... except when you're under 20% battery where the CPU is throttled under 368.
What is your powersave bias?
Speaking of powersave bias, could anyone tell me some optimal settings for the setCPU advanced tab? Don't mean to derail this thread, I've just never used that tab.

I believe i was right at 20% batt or right below,so that could have been the issue... I havent messed with anything on the advanced tab as i dont know much about it, the powersave bias is still set to 0

[Q] Best SetCPU Settings for Wildfire

how to save battery life when using setcpu?
same that:
Firstly, this is the Android Development Section, so, you have posted this in the wrong section.
Anyway, to the topic, I just watched the video. I don't quite get what the problem is. What part of the video are you unable to follow? You can keep it at the same levels depicted in the video, but, a few of my suggestions:
* Min at 691 is too much. Keep min at 245, it will save battery even when screen is on
* Screen off values are too low. In my personal experience, if it is kept so low, the phone hangs when an incoming call arrives. So, after much experimenting, I have seen that keep the min value at 245. Anything below that can hang the phone. (Obviously many people do get it working fine at 160 MHz, but, this is my personal experience with my Wildfire)
As for the settings under the "Advanced" Tab, I am not having that many settings in my version of SetCPU, so cant really comment on that.

I'm quite rookie on this with cpu and stuff. But, I've read somewhere that the "perfomance" makes that its always running on the max Mhz. So whats the point of having the min on 245 then?
I'm just asking to learn =)

As far as I know you're correct and performance will simply cause the cpu to run at the max speed, the same as setting min and max the same (except its meant to be slightly better than that as it doesn't bother spending cpu cycles figuring out if it should drop the cpu speed to the min)

SetCPU Recommended Settings

Just a thread to see what people are setting their CPU speeds/governors at.
When I first opened the app stock seems to be
Min: 1026
Max: 1512
Gov: On Demand
All I have done so far is lower min to 594 because I felt 1026 is too high.

The default kernel won't let you change the min. You can try, but it goes back.
We need a new kernel to lower the minimum freq

I am using No-Frills CPU Control and it is keeping the minimum freq change ( unless the app isn't able to read the CPU freq correctly).

Nope, it says requested frequencies or something like that where you changed it, but the actual ones are on the left, and they are still the default.
We need a modded kernel. Anyone know of someone that can do that?

How do you know they are not chging in No Frills if it says it is?? If you reboot and it sticks, it's working.

On the left it is saying my min and max freq is 1.5ghz, so I don't think that is right. When I check the report of the last 5 seconds it says its on 486mhz 90% of the time (486 is my set min freq).
Edit: Actually on the left it now says min is 486 and max is 1500, so hopefully it is working correctly.
Mine seems to be working with setcpu also

Guess I could be wrong, did you reboot to get it to stick? I could not get mine to stay.
Also, curious what the voltage is at the lower frequencies. I wonder if they are the same the lower you go and therefore samsung didn't lower it past 1026.
Can anyone see what the default voltages are set to?

What version on SetCpu are you using?? I think you need to be atleast in the 3X versions to get it to work right.
I can't seem to set the Max to 1.5ghz it only set the max to 1.0ghz. I think SetCPU still not supporting the S4.
Just used SetCPU to set max to 1512 and min to 384, with different profiles, restarted...and it seems to stick.

yup! the slider sticks but look at the print just above the slider; mine still says 1024 even though the slider is at 1512 max. I don't think setcpu supports snapdragon S4 yet.

Not sure what's wrong with yours. I've had mine set at 486 - 1512 since I rooted. I've rebooted several times and it stays at my settings. Yes, even the print above the settings.

[Q] battery life settings

I read in a post elsewhere that
"but you have to look at your battery.... it will increase battery drain... ( i set max cpu 96 mhz when screen is off and set cpu 1152 mhz when screeen is on... that saves battery an my hd2 is flying with speed when i am using it, and i decreased cpu voltage a little bit)."
Where do i find the settings to set max cpu to 96 when screen is off??

SetCPU's good. @OP, the SetCPU Dev is an XDA member and provides it for free from XDA so if you want to search for it and download it from the original thread you can. If you want to support him then please buy the app from the Play Store.
Also I personally feel that the advice you've been given is quite poor. 96MHz max with the screen off is definitely too low. I keep mine at 128 min and 4 something max, that way the battery usage is low but I get a fast response when I unlock the phone. With 96MHz max you're going to get tonnes of wakelocks. I tried to set mine to be at 128MHz once then tried playing music (with the screen off) and the phone froze, so I reckon with 96 max any background syncing or in fact any background processes could result in freezing.
