Help with Housing and touch screen - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I was replacing my mt3g housing, and now the screen does not respond to touch. is this common? do i have to wipe, any help would be appretiated. Thank you,

likely you screwed somethign up installing it, loosened a wire or something. try to wipe, but this is more likely a hardware problem. I say take a look at what you did, make sure there are no loose wires

Trinity repair question please help

hii !!
my trinity has an lcd problem, it does not turn on , although other functions work fine.
i think it is the lcd socket?? because the black thing that secures the lcd cable fell out and im unable to put it back in. so the lcd cable is inserted in the socket without the black clip. im pretty sure its still in when i reassembled the phone though.
although one of the pins in the socket was previously bent however i managed to make it straight at least i think so. so after many tries, at times the lcd will light up with a dim light, at times the light is brighter, with the touch screen working.
sorry if this is a noob question but i was wondering what needs to be replaced. or if it can be easily fixed???
thanks for reading =) any advice will be greatly appreciated
also the it lights up without any picture. just light thanks
I had the same problem so I sent my phone to HTC repair centre just to find out that they couldn't fix it. I had nothing to lose, so I experimented. Anyway, 4 layers of duct tape will solve your problem. Stick them at the exact place where the black clip was and that's it. Don't give up trying!
thanks for ur suggestion
i tried that but to no avail
the lcd just lights up dimly but no picture, touch screen works
is it possible to be lcd damage, possibly water damage ?
or possibly can it be the mother board ?? all other components work fine, its just the screen
Maybe it's LCD, I don't know.
You have to put it all together and fasten all screws to be sure that my suggestion doesn't work. I must have done it all at least 50 times before I managed to make it work without a problem.

Screen problem when opening (Wing)...

A friend of mine brought me his Wing to look at for him. If I turn on the phone on it boots up and the screen looks just fine. When I slide the screen opened to use the keyboard the screen freezes and when I close it again it gets all jumbled up. There are lines going through it and I can not make out anything. The phone isn't locking up at this point because I can press menu buttons and other hard buttons and see the screen react, I just can't tell what is happening.
I assume that this is a hardware problem. I was thinking that the cable that connects the screen may have been jarred loose or damaged in some way. If that is the case do you think that it would be as easy as opening it up and repositioning the cable? I don't have any experience with this phone specifically so I don't know if this is a common issue.
I was also wondering if it is possible that this is just a software issue. Maybe the function that rotates the screen for use with the keyboard is messing up and jumbling the horizontal and veritcal lines when going back and forth. I was thinking about doing a hard reset and seeing if this clears up anything. Any thoughts?
I appreciate any help. This forum has always been there when I needed help in the past. I'm sure somebody out there has much more experience and knowledge that I have and can lead me in the right direction.
Thanks for any and all help!!
Update...
So I went ahead and tried the hard reset first hoping that it might be a software issue. I am now at the screen that says "Tap screen to setup your Windows Mobile based device." No screen touches are being recognized. This seems to support my thoughts that there is a loose cable or bad connection. Agree?
I just slid the screen opened to see what would happen and it faded to white.
Yep, if my experience with the Wizard tells me anything, the flex cable from the main body of the phone to the screen is either loose or damaged somehow. Even a small nick or cut into the flex cable will cause it to stop working correctly. I would hunt up the Herald service manual and take your device apart and see what you can find.
Thanks ... I downloaded the service manual and plan on taking it apart. I have to make a run to the store though and buy a small enough Tork screw driver. T5 or T6 I believe.
Thanks again, I will post with my findings when I get going on it.
now what?
So ... I have the phone completely torn apart. I do not see any loose or damaged cables. It was dirty inside the phone but other than that everything looks just fine.
Does anybody have any advice as for things to look for, that might be causing this problem, while I have this thing torn apart?

Blackstone's touchscreen

Hey guys! I have a problem with my Blackstone....
After a while of using it my touchscreen does not respond anymore....
It just stopped working. The display works exept the touch....
any help wold be much appreciated...

I have the same problem. Touchscreen do not response anymoore, I tried to reflash the rom, but it did not help.
you probably have the digitalizer broken.
I got this changed once about 1 year ago (under warranty). It seems to be a big issue on our old devices.
If you are out of warranty, it's probably not worth to send it to the service.
You may try yourself following this thread
Sometimes if you paste a tape on the screen and try to separate the 2 layers of the digitalizer pulling the tape slowly, it may work for a while (temporary fix).

Hi guys, I had this problem one year ago. My warranty didnot covered such thing and it was too expensive to repair it, so I have read all forums and found the solution. The problem is indeed in the digitizer however it is not broken just the covering plastic screen seems to be pressed to it and generating a continuous touch so when you touch with the finger nothing happens. There are two solutions to detach the plastic screen from the digitizer - either put tiny plastic card below the screen from the edge or use a duct tape on the screen and pull quickly - this step may need to be repeated several times until the two layers detach.
I have done both processes and it works. With the duct tape it is safer but the problem appears again after some time, with the first approach I don't have the problem anymore.
Hope this will help you.
yeah, I know it's old thread, but could you please elaborate on this .. ?
covering plastic screen - do you mean, the layer that is in front of the digitizer, the one you actually touch ? that stuf is glued hard, I dont see how you could place tiny plastic anything from the edge, that means that you need to unglue it with hot air .. ?
I am having the same non responsive TS problem, but I dont think that it is broken also. only things that could go wrong are ZIF connectors, and the digitizer integrity, which is mostly not the case cause of the firm plastic surrounding it.
please respond, you could use a pic with an arrow to show me cause im in the middle of dissasembly process. tnx

Disconnected Touchscreen Cable

I was cleaning the dust out from behind my screen and I disconnected the cable that is glued to the top of the touchscreen. I put it back in place (as best as I could) and let the glue set, but my touch still doesn't work.
Is this something I can fix with better alignment (and maybe a little bit of conductive glue) or do I need a new digitizer?
Has anyone else done this?
where was the cable actually plugged into? I am assuming you just have to put that in and shut the rubber clip (I apologize to the community for my lack of technical terms) but can be a bit difficult depending on what tools you have
I had this happen too. I had to buy a whole new digitizer.
Damn. Thanks I guess :/ I'll find a creative use for this one. I wonder what my atrix will look like with all the paint removed <_<
It winds up plugged into the same ribbon as the speaker and front camera I think, but its on the glass end that my promblem lies. The metal fingers on the wire are glued to the ITO fingers on the glass, and I don't know how to get a proper connection back
try here and see if you can get any clues.

i don't know if it helps, but it might lead to something.
I used that guide when I first took her apart, and tellingly, they don't disconnect the screen from the frame.

Soldering Digitiser Connector

Im trying to replace the digitiser on my HD2, i purchased the digitiser only and not the screen itself as it is working fine (or was!).
To get it apart i had to snap the connector off which now means i need to solder it back on.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how i go about doing this. Is a big dollop of solder over the entire thing ok, or does each of the 7 connections need to be soldered, very precisely, individually?
Alternatively, can i get away with glueing them down or something?
Next, and related problem is that when it fires up at the moment the screen is bright at the bottom but darker at the top. Soemthing to do with the backlight i guess, but anyone know how to rectify that? Or should i just go and buy the screen + digitiser?
should of been dismantled with solder iron & needs resoldering precisely.
I would suspect further damage could be evident by backlight issue.
Possibly, though when removing the screen i did mess a bit with the screen and the various mirrors and things, so figured that might have hurt it.
Anyway its now at a repair shop because im not that precise-a-solderer, see if they can fix it (or rather, how much for) and if its too pricey il have to find me a screen/digitiser combo
